Pelhaforan Emergency OOC

Well the bio weapon I've picked rarely causes secondary infections (gotta love anthrax) Though due to the difficulty in producing a large enough volumes of weapinised anthrax, most of my arsenal is chemical in nature

Cogoria... question for you. Why do you even have chemical weapons to begin with? They are messy and if used cause a huge retaliation from the international community.

Cogoria:
Anti WMD? there's hardly such a thing that can stop an entire nation's arsenal from reaching their targets maybe a few, but not all. And you're not in danger from fallout as I posses no nukes, my WMDs (Which have been produced in utmost secrecy) Are all chemical/biological in nature
Do remember that I am one of the largest and most industrialized nations on Eras (I'm ~10 million people smaller than Kannex). The system I have, which includes ship and land based missiles and railguns, as well as a couple of nuclear-powered laser satellites, has been developed to a point at which I've decided give up my strategic nuclear capability save for ~50 warheads. I am five and a half times your size, and more than twice Nebula's. I'm pretty sure I can come up with a system that can stop most of your launches. IIRC the Rose League has a similar system as well, and as they seem to be focused on peace, they might just step in too.

Another thing: fallout travels far. As in, a large nuke detonated over Chicago could rain fallout on Pittsburgh, nearly 700km away. That kind of far. At our closest points, Kannex and I are separated by a distance of less than 360km. Such a distance is almost trivial for hazardous amounts of fallout to travel assuming a west-to-east wind direction at moderate windspeed, and even the distance between our capitals (which is ~1600km at my estimate) can be traveled by fallout from a sufficiently large bomb with the right wind conditions. Chemical weapons blow around too, although I doubt they could travel far enough to Sasten and still be concentrated enough to pose a threat. Still, having a potential WMD exchange on our doorstep is not something the Sastennic high command looks forward to.

Going off what Sasten said and to elaborate a bit... it's a toss up between the two of us who has a stronger missile defense shield. I'd probably wager Sasten to a small extent due to his being developed out of necessity for both offense and defense. The League's is purely for defensive purposes but is more than capable of shooting down anything fired it's way. I just haven't had much of an opportunity to detail the missile defense shield that is utilized by my nation's.

I should warn you Cogoria that the League has the ability to intercept and shoot down ICBM's via its missile defense system. While my nations may not do it, that technology could end up on temporary loan to say Ceretis, Kannex or Esplandia. So going all missile happy isn't the best course of action. Nor is throwing millions of soldiers at a problem, violence never solves anything.

"Naked force has resolved more issues throughout world history than any other factor. The contrary opinion that violence never solves anything is wishful thinking at its worst". And why are only my missiles being threatened?? They for retaliation only, everyone seems happy to let a much larger nation nuke Cogoria into a crater should war break out XD

(Bonus points for naming that movie/book)

Starship troopers by Robert a Heinlein

(I think they also say it in the movie, but I haven't watched it in years)

@Cogoria, because Kannex hasn't threatened to start a war, he's only acting in defense of Pelhafor. You on the other hand are more offensive minded and tried starting a war in Pelhafor.

@Nebula, I was the last to post in the IC thread. I'm waiting on everyone else to advance the story.

Cerestis is next I think, he sent me a message the other day saying he was working on a post to do with the peace process, so I'm reluctant to chime in yet cause all my current non peace talks actions wil result in an escalation

I got bored, and so did my nation a bit, so they're now holding a war game using half a million men. Cuse let's do that :/

Nebula:
Nightsong:
Dammit Nebula... You had one job, just one job and you are failing spectacularly at it...
I thought my job was "don't nuke everyone", right? I'm still doing it
Your one job was to not get involved in the war... It just makes things worse... Especially with Cogoria looking like he's itching for a fight...

The Third Great War is not going to start on our watch.

If Nebula tries anything, in the words of Robert deNiro, "brother, you are going down."

Syrixia:

Careful Syrixia, I'm using this crisis as a moment for my nation's government to judge your nation's government on whether or not they are a good fit for being a member of the Stellae Partners for Peace.

You realize that, as a potential PFP nation, it would be in Syrixia's interest to follow through on what I say if my nation hopes to get closer to Trillium. It'd be like helping someone you want to be friends with get oranges for an orange juice stand by giving them five oranges.

Sorry, I've been busy packing and drinking myself silly (not in that order) in preparation for college. I'm also waiting for Ceretis to post... I'm quite certain he's not drinking and packing for college, but who knows?

To recap, let's figure out what each party wants:

Kannexan Government would like to keep Pelhafor out of communist rule as well as maintain Kannexan influence on the ex-colony. Currently, the Kannexan Gov believes that the best option is to back the Pelhaforan junta. Pelhafor is a key trade partner of Kannex's and well within Kannex's economic, cultural, and political sphere of influence. Kannex does not want a war; that would be bad for business.

In case this hasn't been clear, Pelhafor was a Kannexan colony for the last hundred years or so, until it was recently given independence. An elite class of German-speaking Pelhaforans, primarily descendants of Kannexan colonists, continue to dominate Pelhafor culturally, economically, and politically. The Pelhaforan junta under General Staubmeyer believes that the power of the old German-speaking elite of Pelhafor is under attack by a) the French speaking underclass and b) leftists. Staubmeyer wants to revitalize what he sees as a corrupt and decadent capitalistic society and return to Christian, nationalistic roots under the leadership of the German-speaking elites.

The League essentially wants to see peace restored in Pelhafor and to see Cogoria stand down without bloodshed but seeing as Nebula wants to get himself involved and back Cogoria with military aid, I don't see that ending without some escalation happening. One thing I have not brought up but the negotiators from my country will be offered as a transitional observer team to help oversee the restoration of a peaceful government in Pelhafor, no matter what form it may end up taking.

Cogoria will be keeping it's aims close to it's chest until we reach the negotiation table. I have a number of reasonable requests some unreasonable and one hilarious :P

Imperium would like to remind you all that we're here still, sort of. Seriously though, I'm marginally relevant to this RP and don't particularly have the resources to get involved in military schizz. If anyone wants to use Imperium as flavour or wants to pull me in somewhere, shoot me a PM or an OOC post.

Caesar has been told that any further wars will incur an overdraft on his credit card, so we're trying to avoid those atm.

Well, you control Rhuvuland yes? Might shoot you some PMs if things go sideways and become a shooting war, cause I gots plans for Rhuvuland

I like how everyone is getting pissed at me for literally doing what I always do and what I said I would do.

If the only reason for your existence is to start wars and shoot people, you are going to attract ire regardless of whether or not you made intentions clear beforehand.

The only reason Nebula exists is because I enjoy TNP RP. If you want to get into this debate I'll be happy to accommodate you but I advise you to get back on topic.

The whole family in town thing has been eating my time up a lot. Sorry about not having posted so far. Also Cogoria, good post to keep things moving along.

Nebula:

I'm actually not mad at you... My earlier posts were just suggestions and commentary on the fact that war always tends to break out when you are involved. Which is fine if that is how you choose to role-play. I was just commenting on seeing if you wanted to try something different this go round. Doesn't really make a difference to me as long as the role-play is enjoyable and the people participating are having fun.

Cogoria:

That reminds me; Grim, Kannex and I have to have a "chat" about that. :eyebrow:

I know my recent post didn't give much for people to go on again, but I'm building towards something at the moment. I hopes that it won't be too long before I get the point where you guys can jump in.

Hey if you want to start trouble in Tajis, that'd be alright with me. The country might be anticommunist but there's still a heavy pro socialist presence.

There is honestly nothing for me to do at the moment. Cogoria, state your demands now or else I'll die of boredom.

With the lack of progress on behalf of Cogoria not stating demands, my intelligence community is growing board of watching re-runs of the recent Cogorian military exercise.

Cogoria would be the worst hostage-taker ever. All the hostages would die of boredom before he'd even stated his demands.
