Sabhrain Na Kevsha enters Central Astragon



Internationally recognized heir to the throne of Astragon, Sabhrain Na Kevsha has entered the countries central region at the head of an army numbering in the thousands, columns of Kosh Kosad battle tanks and mechanized infantry have been sighted passing through major urban centres as the forces of the would-be empress move south towards Bayyah Na Tyrooz.

Many towns and cities have already defected to Na Kevsha's side without resistance, rumours abound that the Murza regime may have deployed the central army group to block her passage to the capital, it remains to be seen if such a confrontation will eventuate and to what end.

For now, the Prime Marshal's forces are being met with cheers and cups of coffee as they pass by, whether this jovial mood will last is another question.

Surguard Timber & Ore lays off over 1,700 workers in Midlands, Sundeon

The largest Ore and second largest Timber operation in Kanada, Surguard Timber & Ore Company, has reportedly laid off over 1,712 workers, primarily in the southern Midlands and in Upper Sundeon. According to their releases, it was mostly labourers on the ground that were fired from the company, as they stated "Machines can do most of the work that many of these men do, so it is seen as unnecessarily unprofitable to keep them."

This is following several anonymous claims from their management that they had hemorrhaging money since last year, when they gained increased competition from Malorian ore and lumber companies. Corporate denies this.

Surguard T&O was last estimated to be worth Λ27.3 billion, or 13 billion IBU, and their true worth is to be released following the end of the year. After this change, they are reported to employ 4,510 people. Surguard T&O states 961 of those people work white-collar management, 191 work at the corporate headquarters in Kalgary, and the remaining 3,358 are other ground workers.

Date of Snap Election Announced

The Keizerin has announced that the snap elections for the temporary Prime Minister will take place on Friday, December 13th. On that date, the Kanadian Parliament will vote for the Prime Minister that will hold office until official elections in late 2020.

The only two nominees are Anne Ulburg of the Liberale Parti, and Lars Haaroldsen of the United Conservative Fatherland Party. Ulburg is currently projected to win with the opposition majority in Parliament.

Oh Not at all, it's always a pleasure speaking with the Enquirer

For the last two years the Monarchist movement has campaigned to have you made king with immense public support, how do you feel about that?
I am honoured to serve Hessunland's public, while it is indeed flattering to be considered worthy of a crown the simple fact remains that my primary goal is to make life better for the people of this great country. The public believes that I can make a positive difference as king, that is the sole reason I accepted the Monarchists offer of candidacy.

You were a political prisoner during the Himdach regime, did that experience push you towards public service?
Being imprisoned simply for voicing an opinion is a truly harrowing experience, Franktorf prison was filled to the brim with clergy, lawyers, teachers and democrats. I didn't think I would live to see a world without that barking sociopath in power. when Gottia fell and I was freed I swore I would do all in my power to ensure that good people were never again punished for expressing themselves.

Speaking of the Himdach regime, your grandfather was the last duke of Granze before the fascists abolished the position, what do you think of the fact that your childhood home is currently occupied by Andrenne?
I think Himdach left the world with no choice but to break up Gottia, I still have a house in Granze, I visit my grandfather's mausoleum every spring, but honestly the Andrennian rule has been a godsend for the city, it is thriving and I have no desire to inflict any more upheavals on the people there.

Many conservative politicians in Hessunland still want to take Goyanes and Andrenne to court for their refusal to provide aid following the Gotmark war, what's your take on that? should our neighbours be held to account for their actions?
I think the time has come to work towards reconciliation rather than casting blame, we were part of an illegal war of aggression and for that, we were rightly held to account by that same spirit Goyanes and Andrenne would do well to admit that when faced with a difficult post-war situation they made the wrong call. No one came out of that terrible conflict clean and the only way we will ever heal the wounds it left is through dialogue and co-operation with our neighbours.

Is that possible in the current political climate?
It is inevitable actually, the younger generations who know nothing of the war are already taking the lead on regional co-operation. Consider that our students are just as likely to study in Gojanesstad and Mitta as they are Franktorf, or that our famed nurses often take seasonal work in the hospitals of our neighbours.

We are already linked by business, education and regional co-operation, the time has come to embrace this new Gothis and build bridges with the rest of the continent.

If the referendum passes you will be the first openly gay monarch in Erasian history, does the potential reaction by the religious and political right concern you?
I have always lived my life openly, I have never hidden my orientation or lifestyle, if the political and religious right is more concerned with who I love rather then how I treat others then it is they who have a problem and not me.

As for the potential to become the first openly gay monarch, I think it sends a signal to the rest of Eras that Hessunland is a tolerant and progressive nation and that we have turned a corner on our painful history.

The construction of this relatively new operating base in the middle of Phoenix sea was started around mid-August. Secretary Khrowl of the Ministry of Labor has remarked how it was "inspiring" to see the work finish ahead of schedule. "A true achievement of Fussian determination and resolve," he would go onto say.

Ugrian Military Chief dead at 68

VÕNNU, RI - Ugria's Military Chief, 2 time Minister of War, Commander of the Order of the Star, Hero of the Ugrian Federation, Marshal of the Ugrian Federation Hendrik Pihlak passed away earlier today as reported by Riigiteataja.
There was wide speculation as to the reason of his notable absence from this year's Republic Day Parade, it has now been confirmed that the Marshal was ill during the Parade. The Marshal's cause of death was given as Complete Renal Failure caused by Atherosclerosis. The Marshal had been dealing with Athereosclerosis for years according to Riigiteataja. A successor has not yet been picked.
The Marshal leaves behind a loving wife, and 2 children, and a legacy of Ugria's Miltary Strengthening, including the expanison of Ugria's Strategic Capabilities.
The Marshal is to lie in state for 3 days at the Palace of the States, before an official State Funeral.
The Head of the funeral committe is Lieutenant General Jaanus Järve.

Breaking News: Monarchist Referendum Passes



Celebrations broke out across Hessunland as the result of the monarchist referendum was announced by the Bundestag. The majority of the country voted in favor of establishing a monarchy, notable resistance in the less populated south was easily trounced when the largest southern town, Kufen, voted in approval.

In Franktorf a festival atmosphere reigns as jovial revelers fill the bars and streets in celebration. From the Franktorf Ritz, the official headquarters of the monarchist movement, Hugo Von Hagen and his partner Leo Roth addressed a cheering audience.

'This is a great day for Hessunland, you have shown the world that we are capable of peaceful and reasoned democracy, our country was born in suffering but we are finally turning the corner on that dark past, as king, I will strive to be worthy of the responsibility and trust you have given me'

Many commentators were surprised by the results, while the industrialized north was always likely to vote for Hagen the more conservative south was expected to outright reject the proposed candidate. The religious right in southern Hessunland ran a campaign attempting to draw upon Hagen's sexual orientation as a rallying point for the opposition, this appears to have outraged the middle class of Kufen who voted overwhelmingly in favor of a monarchy.

Coronation plans are now underway with Hagen likely to be crowned at Franktorf Cathedral, the countries largest Arvinist site, The current president Maria Linz is expected to renounce her title and accept the new role of Prime Minister in the coming days. Hessunland is also likely to change its name from the Federal Republic to the Royal Federation.

Tomorrow people will be returning to work and getting ready for the long planning phase as invitations are sent out to world leaders and the capital gears up for a historic event. However tonight the people of Franktorf and wider Hessunland are content to drink and be merry.

Sabhrain Na Kevsha seizes control of Central Astragon



In a move that commentators are calling a mix of brilliance and insanity, Sabhrain Na Kevsha has seized control of Debasha Airbase without firing a single shot. Reports claim that the heir presumptive of Astragon personally appeared before the soldiers of the central army group and appealed to their loyalty, requesting they side with her over Murza.

The appeal appears to have been an unqualified success with old Kaiderin loyalties towards Exalt and Prime Marshal proving far stronger than towards state or chain of command. With Debasha under her control Sabhrain now effectively controls all of Astragon's military forces outside of the capital city as well as the majority of the nation's airspace.

Debasha is the largest airbase in the country and a vital security zone for the nations air corps, by seizing control of this vital hub Sabhrain will now be able to provide allies with a secure staging area and keep the Regents forces boxed in via air superiority.

Earlier today Premier Buchyemi along with the committee released an official press statement in regard to 'Island 35' and the response from the international community as a whole. The statement was released after an emergency convening of the committee early in the morning. It summarized "...the government's conviction in remaining peaceful with the international community." However it also goes on to re-iterate "...a responsibility to safeguarding Fuss with all the power one has."

The construction of the installation has been generally hailed as a success in the congress. It has not shared universal praise though. There are some who, while admitting it's value, have contested that it has been too aggressive and would paint the Fussian people in a negative light.

Dozens are rushing to escape from the Fushui Underrail as explosions erupt through the main throughfare.

Several have already managed to escape, among them many are hurt. Some carrying others in their arms and on their back as first responders arrive. It is rush hour right now and there can be no doubt that hundreds more could still be trapped inside the terminals.

Apparent Power Struggle in the Armed Forces

VÕNNU, RI - After the death of Marshal Hendrik Pihlak, former Chief of the Armed Forces, there has been a power struggle to fill the vacancy. Leaders of all 3 Branches have reportadely been vying for the spot, but there are also several black sheep. Here are the main candidates:
Lieutenant General Johann Simmul of the Strategic Forces of the Air Force has been a leading contender, along with Army General Harri Allik, Commander of the Army, who has notably received grooming from the former Chief of the Armed Forces, and Admiral Ferdinand Pirn, commander of the Navy. There are also several black sheep candidates, like Military Commisioner for Defense Industry, Major General Mait Metsavas. All of these men have tried to get the President's approval to become the Military Chief. Here at the Ugria Postimees, we find it most likely that Army General Harri Allik will become the Chief of the Armed Forces, however time will tell how this will go.

Uprising in Kristiansand



A few days ago, in the city of Kristiansand, a coastal city of Winterfeld, there is an armed uprising by a group of the population. This armed group, formed by immigrants, assaulted some weapons deposits of the viking army and took control of the city, declaring itself a sovereign and independent nation. The majority of the population is on the run, while law enforcement, being overcome numerically and in firepower, withdrew helping civilians evacuate and requesting help from the army.

The Royal Army has taken charge of the matter and has begun the march towards the city. Hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries are reported in the armed uprising. The number of immigrants (and their descendants) within the city is unknown. The Royal Winterfeld Army started the siege of the city, and is trying to evacuate the largest number of citizens. The city's ports have been blocked by his majesty's navy and helicopters fly over trying to identify and evacuate civilians trapped inside the armed uprising. Royal Thing's negotiators are trying to establish lines of communication with immigrants in revolt.

KARTHIED—In the lead up to his enthronement, King Sherwin has a lot of housekeeping tasks to finish before the ceremony. Will he continue in his role as King of Esplandia, or step down allowing his son to ascend to the title? There has yet been no indication that Sherwin will abdicate as king, and though we could speculate on what he should do, the King is very likely to maintain both titles. Yet a more pressing question, one that seems to have been left unanswered since the decision was made much earlier this year, is who will be granted the newly created title of the Duke of Klaervatter. For months now we've been wondering who he'd appoint, as he was just leaving three votes unfilled. Waiting until the eleventh hour, he's finally made his appointment.

Princess Amelia (nee Katharin) will be given the title. She'll take on full duties once she has finished her education. She will also be gifted a chateau in Konraedsberg as her official residence. Rathberg will continue to be held by the royal family as personal residence of the monarch.

The Landesgrad has accepted the King's nomination and also support the Princess' appointment to the duchy. The official writ went out in the evening, and those with keen eyes have noticed that instead of the familial name auf Drakosta being on the writ, the name auf Klaerborn was upon it instead. It looks like the King is keeping with the tradition of forming a new house when royal lands are split, as what happened when the Drakosta house formed in 1809. As it goes, we'd officially like to congratulate the new Duchess of Klaervatter, Katharin Sherwinsaet auf Klaerborn.

A New Chief of the Armed Forces Appointed: Recap

VÕNNU, RI - A new Armed Forces Chief was appointed by the President today. The winner of the struggle was Lieutenant General Johannes Traalus, of the National Republican Guard Corps. Initially completely disregarded as a candidate, he managed to beat out every other candidate, including Army General Allik.
So let's answer some questions:
Who is he?
LtGen Traalus is a 53 year old career Army Man, who rose through the ranks in the NRGC. He used to Command the Corps.
How'd he win?
Traalus managed to beat out his opponents by simply being lucky: his distinguished career, and the fact that he has been an innovative leader, also groomed a little by Pihlak, gave him the edge.
So what now?
Pihlak is to take office tomorrow at 10AM, and is to be promoted to Army General. His further promotion to Marshal of the Ugrian Federation seems likely.

Goshabis Falls to Iraelian Forces

The southern port town of Bayyah Na Goshabis has fallen following a daring assault by the Iraelian marine corps. Goshabis was one of the last remaining holdouts loyal to embattled imperial regent Talesh Na Murza.

Its fall will put an even greater stranglehold on the now encircled capital city. A major naval supply base was located in Goshabis and its capture will greatly hamper the regent's ability to supply his naval forces with fuel and ammunition.

Internationally recognized heir to the throne, Sabhrain Na Kevsha, has sent a formal letter of thanks to both the Iraelian Knesset and General Rami, she has also promised to hold a banquet in the capital once victory is secured with the Iraelian military as guests of honor.

The bulk of Astragonese Navy increasingly likely to support Sabhrain Na Kevsha

Sources in the global intelligence community have suggested that the recent political fallout from the Tyrooz brief and the regent's increasingly dire military situation are serving to push previously undeclared naval forces towards Sabhrain's side. While the 31st naval taskforce under the Grand Admiral has remained doggedly loyal to the regent reports now suggest that the larger 9th fleet which is currently returning from deployment near Oclusia will likely declare loyalty to Sabhrain.

The current situation is aided by the fact that the commander of the 9th is rear admiral Naishah Na Jomosh, a longtime political rival and critic of the regent, the rear admiral has largely refused to comment on the situation in the homeland. But rumours that the fleet is now moving rapidly towards the capital suggest he might be preparing to support Sabhrain.

Kevsha Loyalists Advance on the Capital

Forces loyal to Sabhrain Na Kevsha have been sighted leaving military installations in central Astragon. Numbering in the tens of thousands these forces are now confirmed to be advancing along military highways towards Bayyah Na Tyrooz. GNN reporter Bob Parker is currently embedded with the 33rd 'Golden Leopard' imperial Kaiderin regiment and now joins us via a live feed:

Thousands of Kaiderin loyal to Sabhrain Na Kevsha are currently advancing into the capital city via the A1 military highway, reports of seem to indicate that what little resistance the loyalist army has encountered has been brutally crushed by armoured units and air assets.

'Paul the scene behind me is nothing short of apocalyptic, the checkpoint leading into Tyrooz is a mass of burning tanks and dead bodies, it fell quickly due to prolonged aerial bombardment and assault by superior armour.

Behind me the 15th Kaiderin regiment the so-called 'bloody skulls' are advancing into the outer city, resistance is expected to be stiffer in the city proper but for now, the advance is occurring without any serious obstacles'

Breaking News: Old City Falls to Kevsha Loyalists

Following a day of brutal house to house fighting the 33rd Imperial Kaiderin have seized control of the old government house in Bayyah Na Tyrooz's old city. The flag of House Kevsha now flies over the old city and the majority of Murza's forces in the area have surrendered.

The Imperial loyalists are now expected to push into the new city, the bulk of Murza's remaining forces are massed around the business district and the government district, it is unclear if they are amenable to surrender.

Colonel Malik Korshad, commander of the 33rd Kaiderin popularly known as the 'Golden Leopards' had this to say:

'We urge all forces fighting for the regent to surrender while there is still a chance, you are fighting a losing battle and dying for a tyrant who cares nothing for your lives, surrender now and save yourselves!'

The old city is quiet for now but the battle rages on in the wider city, while it now seems inevitable that the loyalists will be victorious the question remains how many more soldiers and civilians will die before that goal is achieved.

CHARRIAN DELEGATION TO VISIT SAINTONGE, EXPECTED TO LOBBY FOR META

Xi Char – The Haor Chall State Department announced today that a delegation of senior government officials will be visiting Saintonge next week. The visit will be headed by the Director for International Trade, Nikos Gollwitzer, who is expected to meet with senior Saintonian politicians and officials to advocate the benefits of META membership. The delegation will also include a number of Deputy and Assistant Directors from both the State Department and the International Trade Department, three members of the Senate Trade Committee and representatives from some of Haor Chall’s largest corporations.

Although the government of Saintonge applied, and has been accepted, for membership of META unusually there have been delays in formal ratification of Saintonian accession due to resistance in the national parliament, leading to the strange situation where META institutions have been announced in Saintonge, despite the country not formally having joined the Meterran trade organisation yet.

The delegation is expected to meet with both government officials and politicians from across parliament during the visit. The first meeting of the visit will be with Director Gollwitzer’s Saintonian counterpart, Minister of Commerce Isabelle Vautrin-Caillaud. Vautrin-Caillaud is known to favour META membership, so the meeting is likely to be a formality but will nevertheless be useful for both her and Gollwitzer to make the case for META in a joint press conference. More challenging meetings will follow when the Charrian delegation meet with other members of the National Party including other cabinet members and leading parliamentary figures like Théobald Trébuchon, who are known to be more sceptical about META.

The Charrians are likely to use examples of other similar economies, including Haor Chall – which is of similar size and development to Saintonge – to show both the benefits of META membership and to play down the likely impact of some of the well-known Saintonian concerns, particularly around immigration and labour reform. Director Gollwitzer will also be meeting leaders of the other major Santonian parties, including Liberal party leader Paul-Lenthéric Baumann and the Radical’s Georges Conté de Caunes, where he is likely to make the case that META membership is of significant national interest and that tactical parliamentary interests shouldn’t sway their judgements otherwise.

The Charrian Ambassador to Saintonge, Elias Macras, will also be involved during the visit and the Embassy has announced that a formal reception will be held next week hosted by Ambassador Macras and Director Gollwitzer, with invitations sent to many Saintonian politicians, from across the political spectrum, and major business leaders and influential Saintonians. The reception is the last scheduled event of the visit, with the delegation returning to Haor Chall the next day.



HAOR 4 BUYS RIGHTS FOR “THE GREAT CHARRIAN BUILD OFF”

Haor 4, one of the few private Charrian broadcasting companies (owned by Picas NewsGroup, a subsidiary of Page Industries), has announced the purchase of the rights to the “Great Charrian Build Off” programme. “Build Off”, a popular light entertainment programme in Haor Chall, was recently axed by the public broadcaster CBC. An unsuccessful attempt to sell the concept to foreign networks opened the door for Haor 4 to purchase the rights directly. The network has promised to return Build Off to Charrian screens early in the new year, with an increased budget and and a longer series of challenges and public votes.

Liberale Parti wins Snap Election, Anne Ulburg is Prime Minister



The votes were counted, and Parliament has agreed to raise Anne Ulburg, Representative of Solvang Central, to the office of Prime Minister. While met with grumbles from the opposition, this was not unexpected, considering the Left-Coalition's majority in the parliament. Her opponent Lars Haaroldson, and the Empress both gave a speech afterwards, congratulating Ulburg.

Ulburg gave her speech after congratulations, as normal. She thanked her supporters, and her Liberale peers in Parliament. She spoke of increasing Parliament's power in the government, releasing the arrested from last month's protests, and preparing Parliament for the official election by the people in late 2020.

Kalgary Militiamen wins 5-4 comeback

Starting the third period down 3-0 against the Sundeon Sørstatenes, the Militiamen were tired and downright downtrodden. However, there was much excitement to come, for, in the third period, they caught up and pulled ahead. Ofsen got a hat trick in the first ten minutes of the 3rd period, in what he described as a miracle, and Kauko scored the fourth goal, pulling ahead.

Sundeon's Serdan tied the game at 4-4 in the last 40 seconds. Coming into overtime, Haegenstad, who had been injured earlier in the season, scored a quick goal, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. This loss has also transferred Kalgary into 1st in the league, and pulling Sundeon back into 2nd.

Cities and towns across Prydania continue to see the fruits of reconstruction following the end of the Civil War, but that doesn't mean peace has returned; many urban Prydanians are complaining about a lack of peace and quiet!

The airport is extremely controversial as it would sacrifice the island's isolation, but revenue from tourism could rejuvenate the population and possibly increase jobs which could slow the steady exodus of the population away from the little island in the sea. There are also some fears that bringing the island closer to the outside world could start discussions of joining Astragon in the future, something that the Alemannic inhabitants do not want. Landing on the runway would also be extremely difficult; due to the island's small size, a runway would take up a majority of the island, be placed near a cliff, and taking into account the strong winds, only experienced pilots would be able to fly there. Luft Highton has shown interest in going ahead with its plan, and there are rumors that LH would consider launching a subsidiary airline to service routes to the island, Luft Eliana. The islanders themselves remain split on the idea, but what comes of this airport is yet to be seen.

In a ceremony that commentators have called sincere and simple Hugo Von Hagen was crowned king of Hessunland in Franktorf's Janus Arvin Cathedral. The ceremony consisted of a small procession through the downtown area followed by the new king taking vows of office. Many citizens were surprised both by the lack of pomp and ceremony and the emphasis on public service that the new king brought to the coronation.

The Mondic 3rd Army's 1st Battalion, 265th Field Artillery Bn "Iron Hurricane" performed a successful live-fire test of eighteen T155 Howitzers. The Army has said that more live-fire test are being planned across the Army, we congratulate Iron Hurricane on their successful test. This test proves that Mondari's ground based defenses are ready for any threat that comes knocking on its door. We can't wait to see more tests come out of the Army.

Today on Christmas day, protests in Latakros, Ereion turned into armed riots as secessionists clashed violently with the police. Militants armed themselves with whatever they could find sticks, chairs some even made fire bottles and brandished rifles as the general crowd brazenly waved Norsian flags over their heads, flags that are notably illegal in Ereion. at around 7PM many shots rang out as the crowd clashed with the police the crowd quickly dispersed as officers retreated. several rioters and officers lay dead and many more from both sides seriously hurt. As riots in Enneville continue to rage on, some protesters took to the Ducal Assembly to deny the taking of the vote involving Landwehr troops entering Enneville. The situation near the assembly building got so dire, the Reichspolizei deployed a SEK unit to provide close protection to assembly personnel and deny any vandalism done to the building.

While protests expanded to the assembly building, on Alexanderstrasse over 20 were arrested and 7 people were injured. A recruiting office on the boulevard was also vandalized by the protesters.
