Map Discussion Thread

Hey i was wondering if the lake right here could be expanded to the lakes?

Wait remove my spot from the map again, or just rename it to one of my territories 'Livsland'. I want to find a place where my country fits in its weather, history, and environment.

Or if you feel like you don't need a large island I can take it off your hands.

I don't think they are going to be willing to keep removing and putting your nation back on the map again.

I know that tampering with land masses is a huge no-no here, but if at all possible could you move my island here?

Reason for that is I've been RPing and developing my country as a kind of a subpolar boreal country (similar to Iceland), and I think that it would be a bit more verified if my country was at a higher latitude. I realise that this goes against the rules and I totally get if you say no, I'm just asking.

Can you have claims to the sea for resources/minerals etc.? I'm thinking about starting an RP similarly to the dispute of the South Chinese Sea.

I have a day off tomorrow so possibly then.

If not then Monday or Tuesday.

Hello cartography staff! It appears that on the DU alliance map I have been excluded even though I still retain membership. Just letting it be known, I don't expect you to rush to it.

That's either a Lord Lore thing or an inner DU thing, depending on the map. Someone will look into it - eventually. :P

Can I just stop here and say I had a dream last night that the map would come out today and it did? I think I have ESP!

Maybe you're just so obsessed with Nierr's life that you knew when he was going to update it, even subconsciously. O_o

Or he saw my posts saying I'd be posting the map today or yesterday...

Question. Should puppet states be claimed on the map? If i wanna role play against my own puppet for example?

I'm making something for True Sebland and in the process I've had to make a nameless version of the most recent map (as of 8/26/15), so here you go.

And also I have an idea:

Why not, make TWO maps, the first one could be the New World and the other could be some sort of Old World.
This way we don't have to put up with this annoying mess of old-world-new-world shenanigans, and nations who want to be New/Old world nations can change through the maps.

No... I have no idea who created the entire Old World / New World concept but it's annoying me to no end and is utterly pointless. The continent's are just that, continent's. If you split the map like that, you are just asking to fracture the RP community. Sorry for the rant but I absolutely despise this whole notion of old and new world in the context of the North Pacific as there is no precendent for it.

Agreed. It was OK when the continents were first released, but there is so many nations on the western continents now it's best if we don't use those terms. The East and the West, as societal terms, are more adequate. Below is, from what I've seen, the definitions we've established for ourselves in the world of Eras. Correct me if it's wrong or a bit off.

Eastern-society states: Always involved in world affairs, looks to be strong inside and outside.

Western-society states: Not always involved in world affairs; usually peaceful/neutral, looks to be strong inside.

Do you know how many of TNP's 'Eastern' nations don't take part in international affairs involving our wars? Most.

Can you stop making these generalizations? Our world just does not work like that. There is no distinction between old continents and the newly added ones. There may be weather or geographical differences, but the way these countries are regarding their economies or the way they are involved in world affairs, or military matters, is not something that can just be generalized.

Instead of asking people to correct you, just stop making generalizations. It's really frustrating.

Lastly, I completely agree with Kalti. Just stop trying to make wide distinctions about the new and old world, it is not supposed to be like that.

Just for the record, not being involved in the clusterfuckery that was the 'Great' War doesn't mean you're not involved in international affairs.

And again Syrixia... You are making broad generalizarions. Just because Andalucia is located on a new continent doesn't mean she or her people are absent on the world stage.

I appreciate your criticism and I do apologize, but I did not intend nor want for the chain of responses to grow to such large heights. Let's keep this thread on topic, folks.

May I have a random spot on the map? I don't realy care where.

My nation name is the Republic of Gradea and my capital is Sanford.

Tortoises:
What is the scale for the map?
The world, also known as Planet Eras or just Eras, is about the size of North America, from what I've heard.

I have a question... who is Norway XVII or whatever it is. I checked in the search and it says his nation ceased to exist :/

If he's CTE'd he'll be removed... at some point. Lore is... I don't know where and I don't have access to his activity spreadsheet, nor what his requirements for activity are.

I may do a look at whose on the map and compare that to activity and other things - like existing - this week.

Last time it was asked and for the life of me I can't remember if it was Nierr or Lore that answered, but one of you stated that even if a nation has CTE'd on the site but the member continues activity here on the forums, that is enough to warrant said nation staying on the map.
