Following a hectic two months of campaigning the first elections since King Jadzia called the Waiczyn have concluded, in what many are calling the single most chaotic and unpredictable election in the history of Arrandal. With 150 seats up for grabs as well as the position of Waiczkanclerz, numerous new parties sprang up over night. And as the campaigning continued and new power blocs formed, the strongest rose to the top while those that couldn't make the cut disappeared as quickly as they appeared.
Now at last the votes are tallied and the election results are in. Let's start with one of the biggest surprises of the day.
Ten seats remain unfulfilled, which at first glance seems like a lot, but once you remember that huge parts of western Kranznikot and the northern Halkensfels remain isolated and self governing since the war, it becomes apparent those citizens saw no reason to go out and vote or even declare candidacy. These will be places that the new government will have to focus on in building up their infrastructure and reintegrating back into the nation.
As for the rest of the results it's pretty mixed, with a number of smaller parties grabbing up some seats while the two biggest parties got the most.
The winning party is the National Unity Party, with moderate left wing policies, taking 55 seats and getting their leader Czeslaw Rozalvic appointed as Waiczkanclerz.
The conservative Restoration Party won the second most number of seats with a total of 36, placing them as the opposition to the NUP.
Here's a breakdown of the rest of the seats and which parties won them:
-Workers United, a pro-communist party, won 15 seats.
-The Crown Party, pro-monarcists, won 10 seats.
-The Lycan Rights Party won 5 seats.
-The Children of Azulnais, a far right religious party, won 4 seats.
-The Crimson Dawn, a moderate centrist party, won 4 seats.
-Purity's Host, an extremely religious and fanatic party out of the Kamadan region, with strong anti-vampire and anti-werewolf beliefs, won 3 seats.
-The Root and Branch Party, the official party of the Silvic Dryads, won 3 seats.
-The National Socialists, a far right party with pro-Dominion and fascist ideologies, won 2 seats.
And finally the remaining 3 seats went to nonaffiliated candidates who were running without a party.
The first meeting of the restored Waiczyn will be held January 31, where the new Waiczkanclerz will be sworn in. The King has already congratulated Mr Rozalvic on his victory and the two are scheduled to meet with the Lords Paramount within the week.
Congratulations to all the elected, as well as all those who ran, in the first election since martial law was declared following the assassination of King Bajoras III.
Azulnais bless Arrandal. Azulnais bless the King.
