Changes to NS!

Apollo you really are missing the point aren't you. To my knowledge you are not a pacifican, and no pacifican has asked you folks for help (unless I missed that). Therefore it is not your place to storm in pretending you know what is best for the pacific. I am not saying I support these changes or like them, but if the pacificans want change then they create it and ask for help themselves, until then we should stay out of it.

I'M NOT SAYING I KNOW WHAT IS F*CKING BEST FOR THE PACIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T YOU PEOPLE READ!? IS IT ILLEGAL TO EXPRESS ONE'S OPINION!? LAST TIME I CHECKED: NO!!!

*calms down*

Now, just wait one minute here: who asked for the Exodus's ideas on this matter, AA?

Apollo,

I have been on these forums longer then you have. I was around during the days of the NPD. I was on The Pacific forums for quit a long time. I was a citizen of the pacific, and I was a member of a few of their provincial assemblies. So, I have a feeling I have a little bit of a better understanding of the pacific then you do Apollo (no offense). Granted I was a relative newb on the TP forums compared to some of the other folks there who had been around since the days of the NPO. Do not address me like I am a newb on these forums please.

You do have a right to address your opinion. I apologize for harping on you.

Thank you for your decency. I apologize for freaking out.

By the way, has anyone noticed this isn't the "Things Falling Apart" thread? That we have gone completely off-topic?

We have gone off topic, well sort of. The changes in the pacific stemmed partly from these changes in NS.

I'm imagining some point system like "everyone gets a point for every update in a given region, plus something for their UN endos that day." You'd take the sum of everyone's influence points and compare them to the region as a whole. If you have less than 0.1% (or whatever) of the total influence points, you'd be a Minnow in that region, between 0.1 and 0.25% a Truckler, and so on.

The Regional Power would be something like comparing one region's influence point sum to some distribution of sums of all the other Regions.

(read a few people sounding confused)
That's pretty much how it works. See:

You know, it is perfectly understandable why the Pacific are so miffed by all this.
The harder they make it for the Feeder Delegates to maintain their control, the quicker the NS decline will be..

I can see why they'd be mad as well, but ultimately the complaints come down to not being able to ban with impunity, from maxing out the banlist at 200 to this new system which theoretically limits the number of ejections. (Though invaders who have just entered a region should have no influence and therefore be 'free' in terms of ejection costs. But anywho...)

I'd think this only really has the potential of turning the Pacific from a single-nation rule into something which could concievably turn into an oligopoly (if the del does not have the influence to eject all other nations with comparable endorsement levels).

May I ask why you think this is disasterous to gameplay?

Yo, also thanks @ Safalra for the link. How does anyone think this ought to modify the requriements to be elected Delegate here? Or is the idea of a Del without unlimited banning abilities more along the lines of the 'restrained power' model of the Delegacy we've built here?

I remember we fairly soundly rejected the idea of having a "TNP Delegate" nation that could be passed around between electees, but I'm not sure if the security concerns of invaders vs rogues merits another look.

Something I've discovered is that you can actually up your regional influence by leaving a feeder for a small region for a day or two and then returning. I was a Minnow upon the adoption of the new rules. I went to a region of about 7 or 8 and became a Powerbroker the next update. Now that I've returned to the North Pacific, I'm an Eminence Grise, the highest regional influence rank in TNP and 10 ranks above the Delegate herself. The suggestion that an invader would be powerless and easy to eject needs to be re-examined.

Except, apparently after the next update, the influence disappears again...

*looks at Blackshears current minnow rating...*

It took two updates to knock me down from Powerbroker to Minnow. Not that big a deal, I guess, but still something to keep in mind.

I'd bet cold, hard cash that we'll be suprised at some point by a new tactic used involving the new rules. Of course, if it does, I won't be clever enough to see it coming or figure out what just happened afterwards.

I should expect there is research being done in secret Nasicournian military bases as we speak.

Flem should know all about them :P

Is "Dealmaker" actually any good? I haven't bothered to look it up, but Im guessing it isn't much good..

Thanks.
It is actually surprisingly high up there. Why is the highest level called "hermit" though? Do we want everyone to aspire to live in a cave and drink their own urine?

EDIT: Can't spell :(

I think their method of working that out might require a little tinkering...

I'm guessing hermit is reserved for people who jump regions alot. Hence they will be universally despised because 90% of them will be recruiters...

Hermit
Hegemony
Dominator
Superpower
Power
Powerbroker
Eminence Grise
Enforcer
Dealmaker
Instigator
Contender
Negotiator
Auxiliary
Ambassador
Diplomat
Envoy
Duckspeaker
Handshaker
Truckler
Vassal
Minnow

Full list so that I can find it later if I need it. :)

Carops, other people might also be gaining more endorsements as well and also gaining influence at a faster rate. Overall in the region the proportion of the influence (points or whatever) that is yours could still be decreasing.

I was just thinking...

If delegates can now eject nations without consequences, could our delegate eject/ban any recruiter nation they see?

Sure, it woudn't be 100% effective, since recruiters could just make a new nation, but maybe they would think twice before sending another nation into TNP. It could start to drive the crazy to have to make a new nation each time they wanted to recruit in TNP.

Eventually, we could cut down on the advertisements in the RMB by, maybe, 50%.

I believe, but I'm not sure about this, Recruiting is allowed on RMBs and direct sends to nations in feeders. As such that plan might violate the terms of a feeder delegate
