Today in Cimmerian History
Second Edition

2 March 1850 | The Kingdom of Burgundy, after 1,118 years of self governance, is finally annexed into the Cimmerian Empire as a constituent kingdom following the enactment of the Act of Union 1850. This region strayed away from the events that were happening in Cimmeria, including its civil war that lasted until 1492, as well as avoiding being colonized by the Cimmeria during its colonization period in the 1700's. However, in 1832, tensions started to rise within this region as its people started to rebel against King Sébastien XV, the monarch and sovereign of Brugundy at the time. Several insurgants started to rebel against the king after he made several actions that put the Brugundian Royal Family in poor standing with their subjects. The kingdom was losing finances after thier recent civil conflict that first started in 1825, and didn't end until 1830, five years later. To make matters worse, the king was planning to establish relations with his Cimmerian counterpart, Gottleib II, to the extent of forming a personal union with Cimmeria in order to help alleviate the debts incurred in Burgundy. This action was to be done on 6 December 1844, but the people of Burgundy began storming the Royal Palace at Bettembourg, the capital of Brandenburg. This would later be known as the Bettembourg Rebellion, it would be chain events that would lead to the Second Burgundian Civil War. This war would be between the four rebel states (Ansembourg, Winseler, Derenbach, and Surré) and the insurgants, and the rest of the loyalist states (Insenborn, Rambrouch, Larochette, Erpeldange, Lorentzweiler, and Gosseldange), that would eventually be supported by Cimmerian forces sent by Gottleib II. The war would start by the end of the year, and would continue until four years later when the rebels were defeated at Kockelscheuer-Ansembourg on 24 April 1849. King Sébastien XV, seeing the devastation of the nation, and the fact that they can no longer function as a nation, abdicated the throne as the last Burgundian monarch. On 12 August 1850, the loyalist states had all sworn fealty to the Emperor of Cimmeria for helping them put down the rebellion. The Imperial Reichstag, like all of their constituents, allowed Brugundy to keep many of their establishments, and their assemblies, which continues to exists on this day.

8 March-

1489-The National Party is formed by Sebastian Belmonte, the first President of Cojedes. In 1881, on the same date, it is reformed as the National Conservative Party, the second largest in the country to this date.

Since 1489, the party has always been either in the government or in a government coalition, except for in the early 1990's when it was in the opposition with the Liberal Party. During this time, the two parties teamed together and began a Revolution against the Social Democrats who were in power. Since then, the Party has always held either the majority of seats or the second largest amount. The party has also had two Presidents in the 21st Century, Caleb Fernandez, who is now a life member in the Cojedan Senate and Nestor Estávez, the current President of Cojedes. The party continues to take the lead in state elections and is projected to take the Cojedan House and Senate in the upcoming legislative elections.

The Sinking of CL-25 and the mutiny of CL-24

The Duel of Clersier Occurred on April 4th 1889 the two light cruisers CL-25 and CL-24; 25's direct sibling ship from the drydock were to carry out exercises in the area of clersier bay the 25 was a purely Norsian crew, the 24 a purely Trien Norsian crew. at noon the guns of CL-24 awoke the bay as her 6inch cannon broadside of 8 guns thundered through the bay. straddling the CL-25 and scoring superficial damage to the bow of 25.

within quick measure the guns of CL-25 responded in kind as the ships smokestacks bellowed black clouds of smoke upward rapidly.

the battle raged for 35 minutes as the two ships traded blows, with each new hit the CL-25 listing more and more. somewhere in that time the coastal guns had gone live and started to assist the 25 but it was too late. a surviving officer of the bridge control of the 25 quoted the final words of the captain as "Hold your fire! Save your life!"

2/3 of the hands of the 25 lost their lives, either killed in the battle or trapped in the metal depths of their cruiser. the CL-24 sank with all hands. Both ships rest at the bottom of the bay to this day. as metal coffins.

This battle and betrayal would stoke the smoldering embers of animosity between the two norsian ethnic groups, turning the west and east regions into a powderkeg. which would later be ignited by the communists in western Norsia in 1998.

While attending an event in Alexandria, an unknown gunman shot and killed Crowned Princess Emma. Emma was one of the most unsuccessful leaders of the Principality, failing to contain the chaos which popped out of the bottle following the death of Sophia II (Sophia the Great). The failed attempt at a coup by the Hightonian Republican Army did force Emma's successor Karl to form the National Diet and give up many royal powers. The royal family ultimately lost most of its power in a peaceful manner in 1951 when the new constitution was written.

22nd of May, 1889

The last monarch of the Kingdom of Oroyplata, Queen Marie, passed away with no descendants. Her death sparked controversy over who would be her successor and it was the main reason of the Succession-Republican War or First Oriplatean Civil War, a conflict between the supporters of Jorge of Decaglia, Count of Cemera and Jean Frans, 1st Duke of Pau, as well as of those in favour of a republic.

The conflict went on for sixteen years, resulting in the deaths of 400,000 Oriplateans.

29th of May, 1906

The second democratic Oriplatean elections were held. After the Chamere Baisse approved the Oriplatean Constitution of 1905, universal suffrage became a right, so this day marked the first time many citizens, as the least-favoured social groups were able to vote, as well as the first time they could aspire to be elected to public office by their fellow citizens.

For this reason, the 29th of May is Oriplate's Democracy Day.

THIS DAY IN ARCANSTOTSKAN HISTORY
3RD of JULY, 1865
One year after the death of Sergei Kariyev, the Arcanstotskan city of Tsaritsyn is renamed "Kariyevgrad." Done to honor the founder of the Second Republic, the motion to rename Tsaritsyn was introduced to the National Assembly by Prime Minister at the time Aglaya Petrova (the first female Prime Minister of the Second Republic) and passed the National Assembly vote unanimously (something that has rarely been achieved in Arcanstotskan politics). The name change was made official by the signature of President Radomil Sorokin. The city has been officially legally known as Kariyevgrad ever since.

THIS DAY IN TALVEZIAN HISTORY

The first modern iteration of the Talvezian Games started in 1860 on this day. 10 different sports were contested.

On this day in history, the first of August, 1947:

Following the capture of dictator Ebelan Serdan on July 28th, and the fall of the capital on the 30th, on August 1st the Fascist Council governing in Serdan's absence signed an unconditional surrender with Cogorian Field Marshal Collins in the ruins of the Kanadian halls of Parliament. This day signals the end of Kanada's official involvement in the Fascist Wars, although combat between Cogorian, Malorian, and remnant Kanadian forces would continue on Kanadian land until the 1950 Treaty of Peuportile, which would see Kanada split in two between a Cogorian-backed communist government in the north, and a Malorian-occupied puppet state in the south. Whilst Kanada would not be reunified until 1971, the significance of August 1st, 1947 as a date marking the death of Kanadian fascism cannot be undersold. Kanadians commemorate August 1st as the end of the Fascist War for themselves, rather than the signed date of the Treaty of Peuportile, and August 1st was a bank holiday in the communist north until its liberal coup in 1971.

The old autocratic puppet government is overthrown, executed and replaced with a new ‘Duma’ and a ‘Imperial Premier’, the first being Alexi I. 1987: Communist revolutionaries, numbering 700 strong, storm the State Duma. Armed with small firearms and some rifles and shotguns, they take most of the government ministers prisoner and turn the building into a fort. Luckily, Imperial Premier Alexi IX is not addressing the Duma that day and escapes capture. This is the first conflict of the Atlanktropian Civil War.

2017: An Anti-Monarchist Protest outside of the Imperial Palace is put down by the Imperial Guard, who use tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters. This leads to international condemnation of the event, with the world starting to question the Atlank way of dealing with protestors.
