The "Law of the Holy Protection" is enacted in Vivanco.
During the 9 years in which this law was enforced, the Church of the Lady was the only permitted cult in the lands of the Grand Duchy. Due to its unpopularity and the fact that it led to various uprisings in the territories of Vivanco, it was taken down.

1944:
Pau Astruc, the 2007-15 far-right Avancenic Chancellor, is born in rural Eroisèn.
1973: Workers' Republican Party wins control of 14 of 16 quartièrs, giving it near-total control of North Avancene's regional governments; two defections in Ravenne the following day increase this to 15. This control would prove pivotal in its later revolution and cementing of control across the Northern quartièrs in summer 1973.
1999: Workers' Republic leader Maxenç Bourdieu formally strips the federal quartièrs of significant powers, and takes on more centralised control as People's Chairman, after a widely disputed referendum on its constitution.
2005: Several senior members of the People's Cabinet die in mysterious circumstances over the course of the day, most of whom had publicly criticised, or expressed concern, over the direction of Bourdieu's regime.
2016: Avancenic Federal Republic troops first step foot in Ingresia, as Bourdieu's initial heavy losses begin to stabilise, following the loss of four-fifths of Workers' Republic territory.

... in Esthursia:
1799:
Prominent communist Esthur thinker and political scientist, Wilfred Franklin, is born in Tynwald, Asthonhelm, to an Osynstric working-class family who moved to the industrial city for work. Franklin's critiques of 19th century Esthursia would influence the collectivist Banbury government in the late 19th century.
1906: King Rickard XII dies of a stroke in Devesgar, Ezhonyth, after a canceled public visit and bout of poor health, at the age of 66. His son becomes King Edward V (r. 1906-47), having rushed from Armston House to be with his father, but failing to make it on time.
1937: Helmsfell, on the Ereway Islands, erupts for the second time in a decade. The village of Lemmington is evacuated, and almost entirely destroyed; it would take three years to rebuild lost road links along the coast affected by the eruption.
1980: Esthursia conducts its nuclear tests for a second time in the Southern Ocean, south of Kian, following a similar test the previous year. The 1980s would see a gradual development of Esthursia's nuclear deterrent.
2010: Shadow Redethane for Working Rights Harold Osborne speaks at the Anning of Annings trade unionist conference in Thurrock, cementing Social Democrat support for the General Strike declared earlier that year against the conservative Einarsson government, amidst an economic crisis and controversial austerity measures tightening.

977: Coronation of Grand Emperor Vigrid III
Vigrid III is coronated in a Courantist ceremony in the capital, Naderfjord. It is only the 4th such time there has been a Courantist coronation ceremony since the Pagan Crusades of Ingolfr the Great, which ended in 905.

1503: Establishment of Gojannesstad
After a major outbreak of the Gojan Plague in the Naderfjord, Grand Emperor Ingmar II relocates the imperial court of Goyanes to a growing port city on the southern coast of Nyhett, Mydfjordstad. On this day, Ingmar arrives in Mydfjordstad and proclaims the city his new capital. He subsequently renames the city Gojannesstad, or "Goyanes City" in Mercanti. 300 years later, Gojannesstad was easily the nation's largest city, touting a population of 1.57 million by 1850. Now, Gojannesstad is one of the world's largest cities with a metropolitan area of more than 30 million that it shares with its sister town, Jægerstrom.

1888: Fjerg Seirsen summited for first time
A mountaineer named Reidar Andreasson from a small town in the Skathic Alps becomes the first to scale the highest peak in Goyanes, which stands at 5411.7 meters (17,754 ft) above sea level. He was made a lord by Grand Emperor Natan I for his achievement.

HRM King Carlos Francisco II address to the nation
2:00 PM Justosian Time
January 1, 2007

"My beloved subjects, fellow countrymen. I take my oath as your divinely righted sovereign very seriously. As such I believe that at the summit of the mountain we together are about to climb, there is a profound national glory and security. Scaling this mountain will require us to endure some temporary pain together. I understand my addresses to you are few. This is because I believe the elected government in my name should tend to your needs first as we are a Constitutional Monarchy.

When I come to you like this, it is always of the utmost importance to our national security. Our Monarchist Republic is under grave threat. Sadly, this threat is one that persists from the reign of my padre Carlos the First. God rest his soul. His isolationist and austerity policies I suspect he lobbied the senate to pass, have left the Royal Military in a dilapidated, smaller, and laughable state. I love mi padre dearly, however he was often misguided. I cannot, and will not tolerate this henious state of affairs. Therefore, I am taking swift, solid actions to remedy this situation.

As we speak the senate is currently voting on granting me emergency powers. This is happening because I used my constitutional authority to declare a national emergency which triggered that vote. I expect it to pass. I have refused the authority granted to me under the aforementioned to dissolve the senate. Absolute Monarchy will never return to Justosia. Fear not, my more purely republican minded subjects. I take this responsibility solemnly.

What is going to happen now first will be a series of monetary.....adjustments. The senate is also currently also voting on a tax hike package. I expect it to pass. I am going to be honest with you. The coming higher tax rates will be virtually across the board. A new ten percent tax for capital gains, stocks, inheritance, and real estate. Expect that list to increase. A new three percent tax for earners fifty to one hundred thousand Justos. Ten percent for earners one hundred thousand to two hundred fifty thousand. Twenty percent for earners two hundred fifty thousand and up. Earners fifty thousand and lower will see no changes. At least for now. Furthermore, under my emergency powers which I have been informed the senate has just officially voted me, I am nationalizing the arms, construction, textile, raw materials, natural gas, and manufacturing industries.

All this and likely more is what's needed to bring our military up to a current status. One of modernity, respect, and readiness. I understand this large economic change is shocking to many. It will be an adjustment for all of us as my family and I are affected by many of these changes as well. I am doing this for you, your family, my family. For mi hijo, your next king. So he will not reign over an unsecured husk of a nation. After military modernization, national infrastructure will follow. We will share in this struggle together. Bare the consequences together, and reap the ultimate rewards together. As one national family. God bless you, the mainland, the archipelago, all of Justosia. Thank you."

Today saw the formation of the Jolly Jollies, a children's musical band that also found popularity among adults, dispensing rock music to the Jenhan population and propagating the genre throughout the region. Despite having passed their golden era, the Jolly Jollies continue to be a favourite to this day.

Center: Gojannesstad Stortoghass under construction in 1912
Right: Stortoghass after opening in 1914, some additional phases of construction on the surrounding area can be seen.

After ten long years of construction by the Grand Trunk Railway, the monumental Gojannesstad Stortoghass station was completed. Replacing an equally grand structure opened in 1867, the new station was even larger. Construction was done in phases so as not to completely disrupt the already impressive railway operations occurring at the site. The Grand Trunk wanted the new station to be the largest such facility in the world, and the architects delivered. At its opening, over 50 tracks spread between two levels provided for an efficient flow of passengers in and out of the station. Almost immediately, further plans for expansions of the station were drafted up, and only several years later more platforms and tracks were opened, along with turnaround tracks, a completely underground railcar storage and maintenance yard, and a supplemental power plant near 50-Strasse, which enabled the near-complete electrification of all Gojannesstad commuter lines at the time.

By the 1980s, the station had numerous U-Baner (subway) connections, direct service by the Høyhastikettog high speed train network at a new underground concourse, and attached dining concourses and shopping centers, turning the station into a major hub for the city. The area around the station is one of the densest in central Gojannesstad, and this wouldn't have been possible if not for the massive development enabled by the station. Nearly a century after the Stortoghass' first train departure, it stands proud as a testament to the Goyanean railway system, and still enchants guests arriving in the city with its magnificent central hall, decorated with friezes and frescoes. Truly an entrance fitting for one of the world's largest cities.
