Trillium OOC

These look good so far but I have some questions about the last one. Just to clarify as far as voting for a state of war, how does that work? Do we take votes even if attacked or is this if a member state chooses to attack in defense or something?

If it requires a unanimous vote for all members to be at a state of war in the event of an attack on a member state, what happens if one member votes against leaving the one being attacked to fend for themselves?

That's a good question -- I was thinking that the unanimous vote will confirm the state of war, to avoid dragging the entire Alliance into petty squabbles and to make sure that any defensive war would really be just that -- a defensive war. If one votes against, Article 3 is not invoked.

I think we should consider that it has to be a nay with reason? Basically you can't just shoot the mutual protection in the foot if it's valid by simply voting 'no'. If you vote no it needs to be with reason such as 'Nay - You invaded their country and murdered their leader without cause.' and NOT 'Nay - Because flowers are pretty.'

Yeah, good point.

Also, I want to eschew chairman elections because I want to avoid the personality politics that have inevitably plagued the DU and the other thing.

Just pointing out that, barring an annulment or similar dissolution of the Betrothement of Zara and Salman, that the Khanate is required to defend Syrixia.

Oh, yeah, crap, I forgot, I signed that nonaggression pact with him a while back too.

Well... don't look at me... I'd give the excuse that we need to utilize aid to humanly bomb the enemy into peace, freedom and flowers... And hey, what did you expect... My nation is full of non-violent, pacifistic hippies...

Only Alliance members will vote on war matters, no?

Correct. I was just commenting on how I would respond if I was asked. The League, being an S.P.P. member is not going to take part in war meetings as has already been discussed and agreed upon in the IC thread.

I think a chairmen could be appointed on a rotating basis. Ceretis>Kannex>Esplandia (or whatever order) for however long and that nation would appoint their chairman for that time frame.

Kannex:
Feel free to post IC-ly :P
:grumbles: Fine, fine, fine... I'll post some more. Hell, if you really want I'm sure I could do a long running dialogue among just my three delegates...

Alright, in the next post I'll just list out all of my suggestions and you can pick and choose and approve all of them.

Well now look what you've done... I've got myself talking from all three points of view. This should make the text a little more interesting...

Should really get that checked out...

So... how about we just have a Humanitarian Aid Directorate (HAD), have it cooperate with your organization? Under the HAD I'm including peacekeeping.

Probably... Anyways, that could work. For my nations though, humanitarian aid and peacekeeping are almost one and the same and run by the same group (IOHA). I mainly wrote it the way I did to stop agreeing on every point and give a differing opinion.

I believe the SPP charter will be up tomorrow.

In the meanwhile, I'll be busying myself with taking over the galaxy with my army of sentient robotic pigeons... if that ever gets off the ground.

If you need any feedback on the SPP charter, just send me a PM and I'd be more than happy to look it over.

As for your army of sentient robotic pigeons... highly entertaining to read so far.

Seems to have gone super quiet this weekend... At the moment, I am waiting on Kannex and Ceretis to give their IC opinions on what my representatives said before posting again.

Yeah, sorry about the wait, I have the SPP draft set but I do get a bit wordy so I'm going to toss it over to Kannex and Nightsong to look over. Sorry about not posting yesterday I've been a bit busy IRL which left me not much time to post.

Wordy is an understatement Ceretis... Give me a little bit to read it over, process what I read and then give feedback.

I'm waiting on ya'all to post some responses or give some feedback to the stuff Ceretis and I have proposed / put forward. Otherwise, this thread seems to have gone very quiet...

Nightsong:
Kannex:
Is it Esplandia, or do you expect me to post something?
Dunno. I'll think of something to write later today to get the conversation going again.
Let's end it. Sorry, I didn't really think of an exit strategy for this RP.

I'm going to edit the head post to reflect our newly-adopted organization and whatnot.

Sounds good. I'll make a post then re-capping some stuff from the League and that everything that has been discussed and is good as it stands.

Anyone who wants to suggest a cleaner layout for the head post or a cleaner way to organize the text there, feel free. Making things look pretty has never really been my specialty.

At present, the Trillium Accord has two subordinate directorates: a Humanitarian Aid Directorate and a Science Directorate.[/big]

Lord Lore:
No option for Ilia? Come on we have a large navy port right across form Ceretis, and we got Hermaes to use as a shield and buffer from any retaliation........... I defiantly haven't been thinking about this <.<

Piscivore:
When the conference is concluded Sadakoyama is going to see if there is a place for us in the organization.

Syrixia:
This seems interesting.

If possible, I want in.

Just throwing my opinion in on these quotes... I support Ilia and Syrixia as possible members of the Alliance while Sadakoyama might be a good fit for the Stellae Partners for Peace.

As for what Syrixia has to offer, we're one of the richer economies of the planet and a regional Caltanian power, if not one of the world's top powers alongside states like Kannex, Imperium, and Guslantis. We have 100 nuclear bombs (the ones Bootsie allowed me to keep *cri*) to use as deterrents if war ever breaks out. Our military is large, organized, and state-of-the-art and we also have an institutionalized relief division for any peacekeeping efforts.

I think Lord Lore was joking; he was referring to, at any rate, the poll in which he's not listed as an option to be the target of our invasion.

As for Syrixia... the Empire of Kannex has too good of a memory.

Responding to the portion I bolded in your quote... I think you underestimate how large / strong the Armed Forces are of the Rose League.

Three... and they only have an active combined strength of 500,000 (around 975,000 if you count the reserves / police / peacekeepers / humanitarian forces). What I meant by my comment is that between the three nations, there's roughly 45 million or so people aged between 18 and 49 that could be called upon to defend the country and are trained in the military. And no, that is not a wildly exaggerated number... It is based on Switzerland and their current numbers in how many active and available / fit military personnel they have.
