The voting period has ended. In the runoff election, Syrixia has won a second term, getting two votes in the runoff election against Eumenor's one.

Nations disimpressed with the results may wish to appeal them if they so choose.

The next election will be two months from now, sometime around the start of November.
 
Members:

As you know, during the Great War, the Watching Nebula captured Shei Ren, and the island became the forefront of the Shei Ren Missile Crisis, as well as numerous naval battles. The Shei Ren conference, a postwar meeting meant to decide the island's fate, is still going on and no agreement has been reached.

Now, Nebula is threatening war over Shei Ren, however the native islanders' representatives in the conference have said that the islanders want to create their own state, independent of Nebula. Syrixia has started a similar discussion with the NPTO, and so we feel obligated to also discuss it here.

I propose we work with the NPTO to stop Nebulan armies from attacking and help grant Shei Ren independence. Another war is not what we need; not now and not ever. But that's just Syrixia's point of view on the situation. Thoughts from the rest of you? Comments? Questions?
 
We do not want another region-wide war. Our diplomats - especially Christopher Williams - would like to join the conference to negotiate a solution to the crisis. If war is declared, then we will be blocking any Nebulan or Syrixian ships bound for their enemy via the ocean.

We, however, fully support the use of the NPTO Peacekeeping forces to be used; we suggest that they be placed on Shei Ren itself to deter Nebulan forces. In the worst-case scenario, however, with a Nebulan attack on both Shei Ren and Syrixia, we will hold a vote for airstrikes on Nebulan positions, military aid to Syrixia, and evacuation en masse.
 
Xentherida is welcome to join the Conference. It is currently taking place in the Sheireni town of Lha Shan.
 
I am proud to inform the Alliance on behalf of the Syrixian Empire that a treaty has been agreed upon by Syrixia, Nebula, and Shei Ren. Shei Ren is a free nation.

We need to remember, that these may only be threats; intimidation purposes. Simply because Vegan - sorry, Vega - is in charge does not mean that they have authority over the Guslantian people. Also, some of these nations are extremely far away, and are unlikely to be bombed. However, should these be actions, and not merely words, then we will deploy half a dozen of our (somewhat small) anti-aircraft ships in the Guslantis-Syrixian strait.

We will also begin to utilise our silver tongues, and capability at lying.

I misquoted you. I wasn't saying that those nations shouldn't join the Helmebaine alliance, I was stating that we should take Vegan's words with a pinch of salt.

Agreed. That's why we're not attacking her now. We're still at DEFCON 2. If we spot Guslant ships coming at us, then we know she means business.

We've also contacted the other nations fighting to schedule a coordinated effort. Such an effort would be best done here, as this is a large military alliance already. The add-on of the other nations to it would easily help the Alliance bring the Empire of Guslantis to its knees.

This overwhelming power would help us end the conflict quickly with minimum deaths. Vega's army would be plowed down.
 
Secret memorandum to Syrixia, Nebula, and Wolfsea.

The civilian-military leadership, especially Chancellor Jörg Henneburg and his officials, of the Kannexan Reich believe it is pointless to revive the old Helmebaine-Febuaizu alignments. The original purpose of Helmebaine was to provide a bulwark against the Febuaizu. Now, the old rivalries have been subsumed by new geopolitical developments -- notably the Mcmasterdonian crisis in the Central Pazifik and the Guslant coup. The weaker members of our two alliances have never helped us in our dealings and we will not expect them to help now. If we should organize a joint defensive effort, it will be outside of the framework of Helmebaine or Febuaizu.



Secret memorandum to Syrixia, Nebula, and Wolfsea:

The KNA has intercepted the following message from Xentherida to the Vegaist forces. We believe the message to be genuine.

Good evening.
We have heard that you are against the imperialists of this world; Kannex, Syrixia, Nebula. We have hated them too. Our people have despised them for generations, walking over us like a shadow, fighting foolish wars. We wish you join you in your plight. While we cannot spare funds - for other nations would be suspicious as to where a gap in our expenditures leads to - we can grant you some technology to aid you. We would also like to meet you in Guslantis itself, although we will be conducting secret security tests. These are nothing to fear, merely a practice.

Ah. It is best to explain our actions.

It was our intention to "triple-cross". We pretend to betray you, whilst actually betraying Vegan. It was an attempt to gather intelligence on the NPTO headquarters, and on Vegan actions, along with a shot at actually assassinating her. We purposely removed an encryption on the letter to make it more believable; with an "accidental encryption fail", then you wouldn't trust us, meaning that Vegan would take advantage of your shock/disbelief and verify that we had in fact "betrayed" you. We didn't inform anyone because we couldn't spare a single slip of the tongue which would undermine our plan.

However, this plan failed when May Leng re-couped Guslantis. Since Vegan was no longer is control, then there is no point attempting to gain her trust; she is worthless for intelligence purposes. However, we do have a small fleet of men on Guslantis' shores, who were ready to infiltrate the area to gain intel.

We are very sorry for any shock caused to people, and we also do not think in any way that you are imperialist; far from it, seeing as you are not conquering countries in the name of expansion. That was merely an additional adjective to make it seem like we had distaste for you, of which we do not. The operation to liberate the NPTO HQ is still on, however.

In short, we are sorry for "betraying" you. You could not know about it because then Vegan would suspect your fake disbelief and uncover the plot, or you could have accidentally slipped an accidental word out. This was to gather intelligence on Vegan and the NPTO HQ, to conduct a more successful raid in which a liberation chance would be more likely with a lower amount of casualties, and to also attempt to assassinate Vegan to bring an end to the Empire.
 
I wouldn't worry. The Empire has faith in Xentherida. We knew you were not truly betraying us.
