POTW: When were you founded?

Sydia

TNPer
Easy question this week (I know my definition of the word 'week' is a bit out); when was your first nation founded in NS?

If you give us a bit of history and flavour that would be fan-dabby-babulous too.

Sydia was my first nation, founded in The North Pacific, late October, 2003. Joined the S2 forum in November. Twoslit was the delegate, NS2 was but a fevered madman's dream and 'influence' a horror story you'd tell to naughty delegates.

Kandarin was my first nation, founded in the North Pacific in early February 2003. Mikestonia gave me a bad impression of the place, so I got out and drifted from little region to little region. When Regional Controls came out, I took up invading with a few friends, and liked 'recruiting' for the Rejected Realms so much that I decided to settle down there. You probably know the rest.

July 2006 with my first nations :) my second was August 2006. The Holy Ekaj Monarchy. Which eventually shortened to...

HEM.

You probably know the rest.
Wait there is more? lol

Dec. 2003. It was either Nastic was Delegate at the time. Quickly followed by Twoslit. They went back and fourth often then.

I have told this story too many times so.......

My original nation was founded in August 2005 I think. Joined between the end of the "troubles" and the collapse of Ol' Blue.

My original nation was sometime in 2003, but things happened, and I never really got a chance to do anything after that computer crashed and I lost the information I needed to log in before it was deleted. (I did get the name back, though, when the Game Mods released all those old names. :)

So my real beginning here was December 25, 2004. I joined s2 the next day, and I have had one or more nations in TNP since then.

Not quite as ancient as the other granddaddies...I'm a recent September 2007.

Originally joined a friend's backwater region, then went on to create my own - which reached 80 nations at its peak. Spent a whole year and hundreds of hours dedicated to this community. Passed a WA resolution. Signed up for NS2 and achieved moderator position of the game's largest continent (equivalent of a feeder) - haven't done much with it yet, though. I plan to.

Watched L&C, Matthuis and the Empire from afar...but at least contributing to the latter with this.

Now I'm here. ;)

August 03. though had two 6 month breaks imposed due to my work in 04-05.

Anyone that ancient is on the UNESCO world heritage list. I didn't want to risk damaging them in any way by forcing them to click an option.
Yes, and one can never click the mouse too sparingly when one's ancient bones are plagued with arthritis.

My first nation, Irixinia, was founded June of 2003 in the North Pacific. I sat quietly for six months, checked out the off-site forum and decided to join in January, 2004. For that I created Blackshear.

I created Outer Kharkistania sometime in 2006.

I joined the Aeazen Combine the same week, and stuck with it until it dissolved in mid-2007. After that, I got involved in Lazarus, then in TNP during Emperor Matthuis' rogue delegacy, I think.

I joined NS mid-04 some time but I picked 05 because January 05 was when I first actually got involved on an offsite forum (Old Blue here in TNP). I remember joining the UN, as it was, and getting telegrams almost straight away from Free4all (well "Better Times" IIRC) and from Pixiedance asking for endorsements which is what drew me to the forum.

I'm not sure I like this kind of discussion on reflection; how many years have I wasted playing this game..?

I founded my first nation Eaghenn in april 2006. Actually a friend of mine discovered NS and made me and some other friends from school join, we also had our own small region. I'm the only one left, my friends stopped playing after 2 weeks! One of them gave me his nation, which then became my LWU nation. :D
And they're amazed at the fact that I still do this thing...
I founded VZ for joining TNP in january 2007.

August 03 in the pacific i think, ended up hanging out with the pacific army for a good few years before joining NP and doing absolutely nothing until i started the FRA

I made this nation in april 2006, spent alot of time raiding until i decided to go more neutral in 2008.....then i stumbled in here :D

This is ironic. I visited this forum for the express purpose of sharing some historical data I just unearthed (also known as "blowing your own horn") and hey look! I don't even need to make a new topic.

I already know when my first nation ever was founded (December 29, 2003), and my more recent puppets ("recent" refers to 2005, in case you were curious) because their welcome telegrams still exist. Ermarian and other old nations have lost their TGs, though, and in 2006 I let ALL of my nations lapse and zero their founded date.

Well, I keep and archive long-term keylogs on all my computers since 2003. So it's not like I can't find this stuff out (which is one of the reasons I keep them in the first place; I'm a self-obsessed history nut).

My first nation, Parth, was founded 2003-12-29, roughly 21:34-21:41 local time. Incidentally, the first name I tried before Parth was "Tau", being rather a Warhammer 40,000 initiate at the time. I still have some of my figures, and they still aren't painted. :P

Ermarian was the third nation I founded, and I created it on 2004-01-11 19:57-20:01.

After that it was quiet for half a year, before I founded the next one in 2004-06-08 12:31. Strange story there - some evidence suggests I founded a similarly-named nation in January, but never logged in. I wonder if I let it lapse and later refounded instead of reviving. Mh... maybe I'll ask the mods for a revival and see if I can log in. That would be the longest a nation has ever been dead: 5 years, rather precisely to a day.

I'd try to pin down the other 17 creation dates (yes, I've been busy making these nations over the past five years!), but it is tricky work getting the right search strings. Because reading through the log from start to finish, I just get stuck and sidetracked somewhere in nostalgia-land.

Anyway, Ermarian was created in 2004, but my first nation was created two weeks previously and so I entered 2003 on grounds of Technicality and Boast. :P

Next up for the imperial archeologists to answer: Where I spent my days before joining TNP. Because I'm not a TNP member from birth. Or I might be - the odds are one in five, after all. I joined TNP and its politics by choice, though, around the time of Moldavi in March 2005.

Er.

That ramble clearly shows that I should not be touching a keyboard at 3 AM.

Could have been worse. Last time I posted that late, I was participating in a discussion of philosophy and ended up being temporarily banned.

Made a nation called "The Evil Slavekeepers" on 19th July 2005. I joined a region called "Q102". Had a bit of fun there. Made a racist remark. Put 3 nations in the UN. Got kicked out of Q102 and got a warning about the UN thing. Got an invite to TBH, joined TBH. Drifted away from TBH after fight with Halcones.

Been drifting ever since.

Founded "D34TH" way back when in November 2004. Played in a friend's region for a couple months, then left.

I've only had 3 major nations that have been used as an identity.

Founded "Falconias" on January 28th, 2005. Joined the Renegade Islands Alliance and played there for 2 years, before the region was destroyed by then-spies Meridianland (as NoSultan) and Jargongrad (as New Marsala), of LWU and DEN, respectively. Moved to The Barrier Reef, then to Genosha, then founded City in the Sky, briefly to Equinox before moving pernamently to The North Pacific in September of last year.

Founded "Falconias Prime" on July 2nd, 2005. Joined a various group of small regions before settling on Peaceian in February of 2006. Resided in Peaceian before internal conflicts caused it to shut down; moved to some other small regions, Genosha included, before finally founding Equinox in June of 2008, my most successful venture to date.

Founded "Second Watch" on May 24th, 2006. Was recruited into The Black Hawks soon after and conducted espionage as a member of the Central Defense Army. Moved to Blades of Conquest for several months before BoC was shut down, and merged into CLT, and I revealed the identity of Second Watch as Falconias and left CLT. I have used Second Watch as an occasional WA puppet until recently when I was invited to join "The Lost Kingdom" (spin-off of The Last Kingdom), and I am using Second Watch as my identity although people are aware it is Falconias.

I've been around for a while ^_^

Late 2004.

Speaking of the CDA, I used to work for them. I think I was the Minister of Foreign Affairs (though my personality couldn't possibly be less suited for such a position :P) and did some intel work or something. I infiltrated the Empire of Seven Hills for them (and Nasicournia to a lesser degree).

Under the alias Montana Max, correct? Yes I remember you. I was both Minister of Intelligence and Minister of Defence (or something like that) for a term each before taking handed the position of Commanding Officer where basically my only duty was to close the organization. :P

Was it an actual racist remark or an ironic sort-of racist remark that only white people get upset about?

Not flamebaiting; just curious.

No no, it's cool man, I didn't interpret it that way at all.

It was pretty racist. I mean, not very racist, but I was like 15 at the time or something, I wouldn't say it now. I don't even remember what country I was slagging, but it was fairly obscure and it turned out someone was obscurely half from that country or some bollocks like that. Fair enough.

Although, top of the reasons for them booting me was my offensive name. "The Evil Slavekeepers". Doesn't strike me as that offensive. I thought, hey, it's a political simulator, are we not allowed talk about being evil and having slaves?

Joined NS around 12 October 07. Started in TNP and after a few weeks decided to stay if I didn't start in TNP I would likely have fallen in with the bad crowd of Gatesville. Their telegram was kind of persuasive, the rein Gatesville's pawn Mattwhatsit made me glad I didn't join them.

My original nation, Romanar, was founded in TSP Feb 2006. I quickly ended up in The Lexicon, and when it blew up I moved to Taijitu. About that time, I decided to join TNP, and since Winter V was already in the region, I used that nation.

A bit of (maybe) interesting trivia: Winter V was founded in TNP and other than a short booting during Emperor Matt's reign and my recent CTE, it never left.

1 January 2004. Born in TNP. Still in TNP.

Been booted a few times, though. Been put on trial a few times too. I think I am still on trial in the Pacific.

Pretty sure I was early 2003 at the latest, but I can't recall the exact date.. anyways to check in CN?

Some great histories here, some people have been around a bit.

First nation formed November 2004 TNP - still exists. TNP population was about 7000 nations and Pixiedance was in charge

Moany Old Gits formed about 6 months later and joined UN. Been in TNP its whole life

It got its name because I was 17 and angry about something. I hate that nation but I just can't get rid of it.

Joined forum 2008 and then stupidly named my profile after the nation so I hate this profile too. What a wally :P

Well done to Flemingovia for getting booted :D

You sure that not 2003 Flem? I believe I created Tresville in december 2003. You were here months before me.

His date is accurate. You can look it up on the old forum. I followed a week later. Your grasp of history (based on several posts I've seen) is flawed.

Think I founded this nation round about 2006... But have been in the game itself a lot longer!

P.S.

I happen to know Flemingovia is spot on with his 1st January 2004 date... Don't ask me how! :eyeroll:
