My culture? soccer is a very distant 6th or 7th most popular sport in Aus. I'm more excited by the possibilities of giant parties the world cup brings.

I'm gonna write a paper on the prison industrial complex and how it is a US free market reaction to post-fordist modes of production. Gotta stay competitive against all that cheap third world manufacturing somehow. :)
 
stay competitive? i thought the current model was just to use all that cheap third world manufacturing for our benefit
 
Yeah, we do that too. What I'd be focusing on is the US prison industrial complex, which is a free market response to post-fordist production (outsourcing). There is an obvious connection when you note that our prisons produce textiles and furniture, which are traditionally goods that we export the production of (for cheap labor).

I saw the worst student production I have ever, ever seen. You can tell how serious I am by the redundancy!

It was written, directed, and perfomed by students. Soooooo bad! I even tried to limit how critical I was willing to be when I went in, and while I wouldn't say I had a completely open mind, I was at least attempting to hold my biases in check. The writing violated so many simple rules for what not to do. The dialogue was uncharacterized and preachy, the acting was theatrical (with one person continually slapping their legs and then giving an "oh come on" hand gesture), and the direction should have caught both how bad the writing was and how bad the acting was, but it didn't. So not even that deserves merit to any degree. Probably the worst part was the speech that occurred before the show, which not only outlined the play, but told the audience what they should come away with as a message from the play.
 
I think felt Christmas ornaments are pretty tacky. And I can't stand guys who play too much CoD thinking they are just what the military needs to get things done. I got a pretty nasty bruise blossoming on my forearm at the moment.

I sometimes think they're trying to get me to quit at my job. Either that or I'm just paranoid. Both possibilities suck.
