The Assembly of Worlds,
Understanding the need for the world to educate people on the natural sciences in order to combat disinformation and harmful thinking,
Believing that the ideas expressed in GA 475 “Promoting Natural Sciences in Schools” are noble in this goal, however,
Lamenting the many issues present within the passed version of this law,
Finding as follows, that:
Hereby repeals GA 475 "Promoting Natural Sciences in Schools"
- The definition of school is overly narrow as it unilaterally restricts the meaning to an institution that only teaches minors, while openly excluding institutions of higher education this means that institutions of higher education are allowed to spread misinformation and dogma that may hinder the ability of future generations to learn about the natural sciences;
- In clause 2 the mandate on schools that “classes must be of a non-trivial length of time, and contain relevant educational content” is vague and easily exploited as no example timeframe is provided, leaving it unclear to member states what counts as a non-trivial length of time;
- Due to Clause 7’s exemption of private schools from funding, the target resolution opens a dangerous gap in which states with privatized education systems may not have to abide by the regulations set forth by this resolution due to a lack of funding, especially as the General Assembly’s own funds from Clause 8 are limited by the same exemption;
