Business registers – search for a company in the PU​

The PU single market has resulted in numerous businesses operating across multiple borders of the member states. The business registers of all member states have been interconnected and become searchable. It was originally operated independently as "Business Register and Statistics" by the Trans-Meterran Business Register Association and Lastatis from June 28, 2020, until May 27, 2022, when the service was bought by the PU Public Prosecutor's Office.

Glossary:Enterprise category​

In statistics, an enterprise can be classified according to the number of persons employed, balance sheet total, investments, among other criteria. In the Business Registers Interconnection System (BRIS), the number of persons is utilized to determine the enterprise category:

• Small and medium enterprises, or SMEs, employ fewer than 250 persons. SMEs have sub-categories:
  • Micro-enterprises: Employ fewer than 10 persons;
  • Small enterprises: Employ 10 to 49 persons;
  • Medium-sized enterprises: Employ 50 to 249 persons; and,
• Large enterprises employ 250 or more persons.

The definition "number of persons employed" does not only include employees or full-time equivalents. These extend to working proprietors, partners working regularly in the enterprise, and unpaid family members.
