The World Assembly,

The quality of food consumed by citizens is very important, as contaminated food increases the risk of sickness for FBI (Food Borne Illness)

To solve this problem, the assembly hereby enacts the following policies:

1. Minimum Food Quality
   • Nations who suffer from intense levels of debt will be granted international aid by the World Assembly.
     
   • Food must meet minimum food standards to make it to the shelves. This would include being below 1 ppm (Parts Per Million) of lead, cadmium, mercury, etc.
     
   • Adding to the previous item, if a product is below minimum quality standards, it must be removed from sale immediately.
     
   • WA Nations will start a program to teach citizens about food quality.
2. Medical Programs
   • Hospitals with utilities to cure food infections are to be funded by the assembly.
     
   • WA nations will conduct mandatory research on food disease in order to reach a minimum threshold of safety.
     
   • The citizens of WA nations can receive recommendations for healthcare program to help people infected with FBI's (Food Borne Illness) recover.
     
   • Members nations will provide citizens with information about Food Borne Illness, and how to prevent them.
     
   • Global Cooperation is encouraged to help make progress on increasing safety standards, as well as producing a cure these types of diseases.
3. Improved Food Access for the Less Fortunate
   • At least 0.1% of the income made by a state will be used to feed the less fortunate people in society.
     
   • Homeless shelters will have inspected food for the people living in the shelters.
     
   • A small portion of WA funds will be split between nations, with the poorest nations getting a little bit more, and the money will be spent on improving food quality.
4. New Health Standards
   • Any food that breaks the guidelines set by item 1b is unacceptable, and must be immediately removed from all markets.
     
   • Every food that cannot be served raw must be be cooked for a minimum recommended amount of time before it can be sold in a restaurant.
     
   • Food sellers caught selling contaminated food will be forced to pay a large fine. Repeat offenders may be forced to serve time in jail in the nation that their factory is located in.
     
   • WA Nations are mandated to hire health inspectors. WA food inspectors are authorized if a nation is unable to afford their own inspectors, or the infrastructure required.
5. Food Banks
   • WA nations are mandated to set up national food banks.
     
   • The less fortunate who cannot pay for food are allowed to have food each year that is equivalent to 30% of the average yearly income in that nation.
6. Clarifications
   • Lead based populations will not be required to follow 1b, and subsequently will also make 4a not required.
     
   • A minimum threshold of safety under 2b would mean elimination of at least 75% of Illness, although 100% eradication of these diseases is the ultimate goal.
     
   • On policy 4b, all foods in restaurants have their own minimum cooking times. The minimum times will be set by a nation's health department if they have one.
     
   • In the food inspection laws of 4d, the infrastructure investments and the salary of the inspectors is included in the foreign aid from policy 1a.
