Our top story tonight, Secretary of Emergency Situations Adelgonda Cabello has instructed the Cojedan Federal Emergency Department to be prepared for yellow status to be called tomorrow as the Cojedan nation is facing a huge snow storm. The snow began to fall across the country earlier this morning and quickly caused several emergencies across the nation. With the declaration of a yellow status, federal resources will be mobilized to help clear roads, as well as delivering food and other necessities to people in storm prone areas. Schools are rapidly beginning to close across the country, as are several government offices. That has not stopped people, including President Berrocal and his family, being able to enjoy fun times in the snow.

Second Vice President Diego Alejandro Andrade will appear before the Senate tomorrow to discuss a new package of proposals that the President and Cabinet wish to be addressed. The first proposal that Andrade will be discussing is Healthcare and the need for increased funding for students to be able to attend schools that focus on healthcare and their needs, including nursing and physician. The second proposal is an increase in Rosario Initiative funds for the Province of Heravion to help the province begin the newly announced project to revitalize the Metro and Railway systems in the province. Several other proposals will also be discussed, including one to give one year free education to students who wish to work in agriculture, and the need for increased pay for teachers as well as more funding for the school systems nationwide.

Our final story, Governor Antonio Suarez of San Juan Province announced his intention to continue to the Rosario Initiative in the province by allowing the federal government to come in and build 2 new hospitals, 5 new schools, and 3 community centers across the province. The announcement came only a few days after meeting with the Secretary of Urban Development and the Secretary of Health. In his announcement, Governor Suarez stated, "San Juan Province continues to be a center of economic growth and development in Cojedes. We are proud to be a major partner of President Berrocal and the Rosario Initiative. We project that several thousand jobs will be created in the building of these necessary services and that other jobs will continue to live on for years to come."

It has been less than 48 hours since President Berrocal was ousted for corruption and both the coalition and the opposition are already beginning to plan for an election to name their candidate for the Presidential election that will take place in February 2019. Axel Cotilla, Secretary of Human Services, and Adelgonda Cabello, Secretary for Emergency Situations have both announced their intent to run in the National Conservative Union Primary. On the opposition side, Valentino Encarnación, the Representative for the Heravion 9th District has announced his intention to run in the Liberal Party Primary. If the primary was to occur today, sources tell us that the National Conservative Union would select Adelgonda Cabello to run for President, with Axel Cotilla being her primary running mate.

In other news, the Rosario Supreme Court of Justice has announced that it will be bringing forth corruption charges against former President Berrocal. The announcement came this morning after a meeting of the panel of 10 justices, with 9 of them agreeing to issue an arrest warrant, while the 10th justice abstained for the time being. The National Assembly has voted to bring 8 different charges against the President, including one that includes treason and another being a potential violation of state security. We have received word that an arrest warrant was issued less than thirty minutes ago and that the warrant is soon to be served by the Rosario Municipal Police Department.

Our top story this evening, it was a night of glitz and glamour in Rosario this evening as government officials and their families gathered for the annual Yule Ball that is held in the capital every year on this date. Roughly 4,500 people attended the event that included dinner, dancing, comedy, and even a speech by President Irene Molina. When the President rose to give her speech, she received a standing ovation from the majority of the guests in attendance. In her speech, President Molina called for national unity in these trying times. "Even though we have been through a terrible event in the past few weeks, we must never forget why it is that we are in the position we are. We must focus on serving the people of the Republic over our own self interests." It was notable that 3 of the 4 former living President's were in attendance of the event and even sat with the President and her family.

Friday will be the final day of session for the National Assembly before the Christmas break and yet shots were fired today by members on both sides. During the Second Convening of the House of Representatives today, Fernanda Aguayo, Representative for the 2nd District of San Luis, was shouted down while presenting her amendments to the 2019 National Education Reform Act. During the shouting, it was reported that Representative Mateo Santiago Cazalla of the 14th District of Heravion, called Rep. Aguayo quote, "A bloody puta (Bitch)". The Representative was called back to the House to answer for his actions to which he denied referring to the member as such, but it was later proven by visual and audio recording that he did in fact say those words. The member later apologized for his comments. The Speaker of the House stated that she hopes the next two days will be more peaceful than today.

Our top story this afternoon, the National Conservative Union announced this morning that it will be holding its party primary on 15 January to select their candidate for the 2019 Presidential Election, which is to be held in March. So far, candidates for the party include Secretary of Human Services Axel Cotilla, Secretary of Emergency Situations Adelgonda Cabello, and Senator Andrea Lacasa. A recent poll showed that Axel Cotilla would win the party primary, with Adelgonda Cabello and Diego Alejandro Andrade, current Second Vice President, becoming his two running mates. The Liberal Coalition announced that they would hold their primary on the same day in accordance with the non-affiliation election law but that they won't be revealing a candidate list until 2 January. Current polls show that whoever the National Conservative Union candidate is that he or she will win the election.

In other news, while cities across the country are getting ready for the New Year's Celebrations, including the annual midnight ball drop in Rosario, Heravion, and Corrientes, President Irene Molina is preparing to host all of the Governor in the capital for a meeting to determine the future path of the country. In a statement made on Christmas Eve, President Molina told the nation that she would be meeting with the Governors sometime in the first week of the New Year. Several people have told her and the governors what they believe needs to be changed and how these changes need to come about, but it is still unknown what will be discussed. President Molina and the new mayor of Rosario, Ana Sophia Zorita will be attending the football match between FC Rosario and FC San Luis on New Year's Eve and will press the button to lower the ball tomorrow night.

Our top story, Pastor Alvaro Aguayo, Head Pastor of First Rosario Church of Cojedes, gave a sermon to the nation on January 6th for Epiphany calling for peace and unity in midst of the recent turmoil in the government, a rise in crime, and a rise in drug usage across the country. In his sermon the pastor stated, "Our country has never been perfect, no country ever has. Recent events should have brought us together, not torn us apart. We need to work together to bring forth a more peaceful country and a less crime ridden country. I am calling on the government to begin to help curve the rise in drug usage in the past 2 months. It's time for things to change and I pray almighty God will bring forth His blessing upon our country". President Irene Molina, who attended the sermon, later praised the Pastor for his speech and called on the nation to cooperate in helping lower crime and called on people to pray for and love their neighbors. President Molina stated, "Let us pray short, simple prayers of love and compassion for our friends and neighbors and prayers for those who do not pray."

It is only a few days until the nation heads to the polls to select the candidate for the National Conservative Union in the nationwide primary. In the past week, the main candidates, Adelgonda Cabello, Axel Cotilla, and Andrea Lacasa have been campaigning across the nation and have even held a debate in the city of Corrientes, the home of Senator Lacasa. In the debate, Senator Lacasa stated her intention to allow more autonomy for the regional and local governments in regards to the Cojedes Strategy 2050, which includes the Rosario Initiative. Her proposal would allow for local and regional governments to present requests for funding to the federal government and would allow them to chose the contractors for the programs. Axel Cotilla, Secretary of Human Services, called for better health care, more workers and work in the National Child Services Program, and for a 10 year program to revitalize low-income housing. Secretary of Emergency Situations Adelgonda Cabello declared her intention to create a new circuit court of appeals, a new Governor's Council that would report to the President, free education, new committees in the House and Senate, including a monetary committee, and a new Federalized Energy company. Following the debate, a poll of 1,500 people found that Senator Lacasa was considered favorite to win, with Axel Cotilla coming in second place.

Our top story this morning, Rosario Police Commander Xavier Jose Beldad announced this morning that he would be stepping down from his position after nearly 20 years as head of the agency. In his announcement that he would step down from his position, Beldad cited his age and the recent rise of crime in the city as two reasons for his retirement. "I have been in this position for twenty years and in my time I have seen a lot of change in this city. It is time for me to hang up my hat and give the position over to fresh eyes who can make a difference." Politicians have commented on social sites thanking Beldad for his service. Until an election for a new Commander can be held, Alejandro Varela will be promoted to the position on an interim basis.

In other news, the National Assembly has officially reconvened for their first session since the winter break ended. Speaker Catalina Jose Maria Estavez and Chairman of the Senate Nestor Estávez both opened their respective legislative branches and swore in a total of 12 new members, 10 in the House and 2 in the Senate. Chairman Estávez called for unity in the Senate and announced that committee's would begin to meet in the following week. Speaker Catalina Jose Maria Estavez in her opening speech, set out new plans and announced what the first few weeks of legislative business would tackle. Within three hours of both opening, debate was occurring on two different bills, including one presented by Presidential candidate Senator Andrea Lacasa that would lower toll rates on federal owned interstates and would lower prices to enter certain federal lands, including Heravion National Park and the Solar Mountains National Park. Another bill, presented by Deputy Chairman Antonio Navarro and co-sponsored by Senators Andrea Lacasa, Christian Saelices, and Concepción Xirau would increase pay for troops and first responders.

Our top story this morning, President Irene Molina signed House Bill 1828.2019.3 this morning, approving the construction of a new airport in the city of Corrientes. The bill came to life last year after the Gloria Rodriguez International Airport reported that they had received an 11.08% increase in passengers from the 2017 calendar year. It was reported that nearly 27.8 million people traveled through Gloria Rodriguez International in 2018, which is roughly 2.5 million over capacity. Representatives Juan Marcos Montenegro of Rosario 14th and Alicia Estela Cicerón of Corrientes 8th District proposed the new airport two years ago but were shot down on the proposal. Upon bringing forth the new proposal, the House Committee on Transportation voted 15-0 to present the bill to the House. The House passed the bill was 82% of members voting in favor, while the Senate approved with 78% in favor. The new airport will be built in 4 phases, with the total project expected to cost anywhere from 10 to 14 billion pesos. It is expected that the airport will be able to service between 22 and 25 million people per year upon full completion, which is projected to be between 2027 and 2030, with the airport beginning operations in 2023-2024 at the completion of Phase 1. The two Representatives responsible for the proposal said that they will be looking into other potential candidates for transportation upgrades in the near future.

President Irene Molina announced this morning that she will be meeting with the 13 Governor's of the Provinces of Cojedes beginning Monday in a first set of meetings to occur since early 2018. According to a press release from the President's Office, the meeting of the Governor's Council will be to discuss the future of the Rosario Initiative and the Cojedes 2050 Strategy. The meeting, called for by Governor Antonio Suarez of San Juan Province, is to give the Governors a chance to present their ideas and proposals to the President. In a statement earlier this morning, Governor Suarez stated, "We are hoping that President Molina and the federal government will take our proposals and concerns seriously. It is my sincere hope that she will approve the opening of Phase 3 of the Cojedes 2050 Strategy, which will allow for repairs, upgrades, and construction of new railroads, roadways, airports, metro lines, bus stations, and a high speed rail line leading from Rosario to Corrientes and other major cities." President Molina stated while she was Secretary of State Security that she would be in favor of approving the opening of Phase 3 if her opinion was asked by President Berrocal.

Our top story, it was fun for all today as the Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz International Airport held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of its newest terminal! The new terminal, which began construction back in 2010, was officially opened this morning with First Vice President Sebastian Rega and Second Vice President Diego Alejandro Andrade in attendance, along with municipal and state leaders. The first flight out of the airport was an 8 AM Cojedes Airways flight to the City of Resistencia. The new terminal includes 16 escalators, 28 lifts, and 55 check-in counters. The new terminal is able to handle up to 6 million passengers annually and will be primarily operated by Cojedes Airways, Santa Fe Air, C7, and Alrosa Airlines. The old terminal will continue operation until 2021, when it will begin its upgrades. Vice President Andrade congratulated the city and the workers on all it had accomplished and went on to say, "This is just another proof that the Cojedes 2050 Strategy is working! It is proof of our nations will and determination and I thank all the workers for their hard work and talents on this project. I wish this city, the nation, and the all travelers to this airport all the best." Between the two terminals, it is expected that nearly 15 million people could be handled per year, making it the 5th busiest airport in Cojedes.

In other news, snow is falling in Rosario for the first time since Christmas Day with no plans of leaving. A slow-moving weather front is over the city and is causing snow fall in record numbers. The Northern District of the city, which normally sees the majority of the snowfall in the winter time, was beat out by the Arias District, having received over 4 feet of snow in just 31 hours. The snowfall has caused several flights, trains, and buses to be delayed or cancelled all together. School Districts in the city have declared that they will be closed until Wednesday, if not until the end of the week. Local stores, including Aura and Norwind both stated that the majority of their stores are sold out but that they will be selling cases of water, warm winter clothes, and generators for half price in the city while the storm is ongoing on a first come first serve basis. Police, Fire, and EMS of Rosario will continue operating but may have a harder time because of the snow.

Our top story, President Irene Molina and the 13 Governors of Cojedes, plus the Mayor of Rosario, have begun to meet in the capital city for a week of talks on the future of the Republic. The meeting, which began early this morning over a breakfast conference, is seeking to set out the future plans for the country and how things have gone so far for the nation, as well as continuing on the Cojedes 2050 Strategy program. After meetings this morning, President Molina signed a Presidential Decree authorizing the opening of Phase 3 of the Cojedes 2050 Strategy. This phase, also known as the transportation phase, will seek to modernize the entire transportation industry in Cojedes, whether it be through airports, train, metro, road, or ferry. Later tonight in the meetings, President Molina and the Governors will discuss the construction of a high speed line running from Rosario to other major cities, including Corrientes, Heravion, and San Juan. Governor Diego Alejandro Sarmiento of Heravion Province applauded the President's decision and announced that he would be willing to put up funding from his province for the high speed rail.

Boarex Agriculture Company and the University of Córdoba held a press conference this morning to announce their newest project. Over the years, the two have worked together on several different projects involving agriculture, as that is one of the primary majors at the university. CEO Emmanuel Villa and Chancellor Mauricio Arboleda jointly announced in the press conference this morning that the new project would be vertical farming. Chancellor Arboleda said, "Vertical farming could be the future of our nation. As more and more people are moving to urban areas, with less and less people living in the rural regions, vertical farming could be an innovation that could help our country sustain ourselves for years to come." CEO Emmanuel Villa stated, "We are pleased to once again partner with the University of Córdoba on this project. We will be sending our own workers to teach and work alongside students on this project. We plan to partner with other universities across the Southern portion of Cojedes with the hope of it eventually becoming a nationwide program." The University and Boarex will both be putting 100 million pesos into the project, with the first Cojedan vertical farming building being hosted roughly 10km from Córdoba.

Micaela Saavedra, Mayor of Rosario, announced Friday morning that the city would begin implementing a Electronic Road Pricing system due to the rise in congestion of the city over the past few years. The city, which is home to over 7 million people, has recently been cited in an article as the worst city in the country for traffic, congestion, and travel time. The worst area of the city was declared to be the Rosario International Business District, which has over 1,5 million people traveling through it per day. In an official press release, the Mayor Saavedra said, "Over the course of the past 5 years, we have been looking into ways that we could potentially remedy this situation. We have decided to go with the plan proposed by local businesses to establish the Electronic Road Pricing system to help keep traffic moving and potentially lower the rate of traffic congestion and maybe even accidents." The system, which is slated to be partially operational by October of this year, will charge 15 pesos during peak hours and as little as 5 pesos during non-peak hours. Companies that employ tractor trailers will be required to pay for the passes for the tractor trailers. Each car will be required to have a scanner and a pass in the corner of the car, to ensure that people do not have to stop at the stations and pay for tolls. Other cities are also considering the use of the ERP system and have expressed interest in borrowing on the program from Rosario. It was announced that the Unity Bridge linking the City of Rosario and the Province of Corrientes will not be harmed by this toll as their is already a toll going across the bridge.

"Buenos Noches. Good Evening and thank you for joining us here tonight in Independence Square. Today, the people of Cojedes have gone to the polls to select who they wish to see become their parties nominee for the Presidency. The results for both parties are as follows:

For the National Conservative Union a grand total of 8 million Cojedans voted in their primary. Here are the results of said primary.

Secretary of Emergency Situations Adelgonda Cabello-1,200,000 (15%)
Secretary of Human Services Axel Cotilla-2,560,000 (32%)
Senator Andrea Lacasa-4,240,000 (53%) (Winner)

Senator Andrea Lacasa has captured 53% of the vote and is hereby declared the candidate of the National Conservative Union. Senator Lacasa will have 96 hours to declare her Vice Presidential running mates.

For the Liberal Party, a grand total of 6 million Cojedans voted in their primary. The results of said primary are as follows:

Senator Martin Secada-2,520,000 (42%)
Governor Salvador Arrabal-3,000,000 (50%) (Winner)

Governor Salvador Arrabal has won the primary with 50% of the vote and is hereby declared candidate of the Liberal Party. Governor Arrabal will have 96 hours to declare his Vice Presidential running mates.

As revealed just a few minutes ago, Senator Andrea Lacasa will face off with Governor Salvador Arrabal in the Presidential Election on 5 March. Both candidates were elected in a first wave of voting with at least 50% of the vote, capturing 4.2 million and 3 million votes respectively. Both candidates will have the chance to debate each other in Rosario on 26 January, in Corrientes on 18 February, and on 4 March in Heravion, keeping with the tradition of the final debate being in the historic capital of the country. Cojedes 24 will live stream all three debates and will supply moderators for all three.

Turning away from politics, 70 years of worry, concern, and questions were finally put to rest this morning after it was announced that the RCN Independencia, a submarine that was sunk in the First Battle of the Rosario Straight, was discovered after 32 years of searching. The battle took place in 1941 after the Andrennian Invasion of Cojedes and was one of the first major naval battles of the war. During the night of 14th March, the Andrennian Navy approached the Straight only to be met by the fierce resistance of the Cojedan Navy. The Independencia was one of the first submarines to become involved in the conflict, sinking 3 ships before itself was sunk with no surviving crew. According to Professor Gloria Palau, the chair of the mission to find the lost submarine, there are reports that the crew sacrificed so much just to be able to hold them off from a massive invasion. "Their sacrifice is potentially the only reason that the Cojedan Navy won the fight that day. We are glad that we can finally bring some peace and consolation to the families of those who sacrificed so much." In total, the Cojedan Navy lost 7 ships, including 2 submarines and 1 battleship in the fight, while the Andrennian Navy lost 9.

In other news, the City of Heravion announced this morning that it had reached an agreement with Taiyan Corporation to be a desalination plant, a solar power plant, and a wind farm all in the City of Heravion. The announcement came this morning after weeks of discussion led the government to nearly walk from the table until Taiyan Corporation agreed to some of the cities demands. The first project that Taiyan will focus on is the Desalination Plant, which will have the capacity of 137 ml/per day. It is expected that all three projects could be completed by 2028. Taiyan Industries will have 75% control in all three projects, while the City of Heravion will have 20% ownership. The remaining 5% will be split between private investors, who will occupy 3% and the University of Heravion which will have a 2% share. With Heravion delivering this news, the Province of Rosario also stated that it was in talks with AquaSpring Industries to build a desalination plant, two hydroelectric power plants, and a harbor in the Northern section of the province.

Our top story this afternoon, Presidential candidates Andrea Lacasa and Salvador Arrabal have announced who their running mates will be in the general election. Senator Andrea Lacasa, speaking from the headquarters of the Justicialist Party in San Luis, declared her running mates would be Senator Aitana Morterero and Senator Antonia Navarro, both of whom are Senators for the Corrientes Province and have been known to be major allies of Senator Lacasa. Governor Salvador Arrabal on the other hand announced that Representative Mario Rolando Fraga and Senator Isidora Murillo would be his running mates in the general election. Senator Lacasa announced her intention to include more women in the government and to continue on the course of the Rosario Initiative. Governor Arrabal on the other hand promised that he would continue the Cojedes 2050 Strategy as it was a bi-partisan project, but that he would end the Rosario Initiative. Polls indicate that Senator Lacasa is the national favorite by at least 8 percentage points.

The Government of Entre Ríos Province announced this morning that they will begin work on a new project to expand the metro line that runs from the provincial capital to other cities in the province. According to Governor Cristina Corazón, the metro, which currently connects 4 cities in the province, will expand to two more cities in the province: Federación and Gualeguaychú, both of which are major industrial and agricultural towns in the province. In a statement released by the Governor, "We are working on making our province a better place for our people to live. We believe that if we can connect these 6 cities, we will be able to help a little more. There are goods in certain cities you can't get in others and using this metro will help you be able to get these goods easier and quicker." The project is expected to take 6 to 8 years to complete and will cost an estimated 2.5 billion to 3.8 billion pesos.

Our top story this morning, President Irene Molina was in the Rosario International Business District this morning for the unveiling of a statue to Queen Maria Corazon IV. Corazon, who was born in 1864, nearly 885 years after the royal family lost power, was an activist for human rights and, in particular, women's rights. President Molina, who gave the speech commemorating her, stated, "It is because of Queen Maria Corazon IV that women are able to do what we are today. In 1894, she convinced legislators to legalize the right for women to vote. Seven years later, she convinced them to allow women into the National Assembly, with her becoming the first female legislator in 1901. Under President Emmanuel Maroto, she became the first woman to ever serve in the Cabinet of Secretaries. We are so grateful for all she has done for our country and the advancement of women in our country." The statue, which was paid for by the City of Rosario and by the Corazon Family, sits in the center of the Rosario International Business District and is the primary feature of the Central Park.

Cojedes Railways announced this morning a plan to expand the existing Skyline Express Rail system beyond the current stations. Skyline Express, which is an electric rail system, currently serves five airports, Sebastian Belmonte International and Aeropuerto Internacional de la República de Cojedes in Rosario, Gloria Rodriguez International in Corrientes, Heravion International Airport, and Reina Sofía Corazon I International in Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz. The expansion plan will build the electric rail system transporting people to and from airports in Córdoba, Santa Cruz, Mendoza, and La Rioja, with the eventual expansion to San Luis and San Juan. According to the CEO of Cojedes Railways, Laura Manzanares, "The goal has always been to connect all international airports in Cojedes with links to the cities so that people can get out quicker and we can reduce congestion times at airports. We believe that by expanding into these four cities, we will be another step further in completing our goal."

AquaSpring Industries announced over the weekend that they had reached an agreement with the City of Rosario, to build two desalination plants within the limits of the Province of Rosario, which includes the capital city. The Province and the company had been discussing the possibility of opening these two desalination plants for more than three months and finally came to a concise agreement on Friday. The agreement would allow AquaSpring to build a desalination plant in the North of the Province and another in the South of the Province, with the latter being inside the City of Rosario. The Agreement also included two hydroelectric power stations and a harbor. The agreement stipulates that the City of Rosario and AquaSpring Industries would each hold a 45% share in the three separate projects, while the remaining 10% is split between Private Investors (5%), the University of Rosario (3%), and the Federal Government (2%). According to AquaSpring, "We will work together closely with the government on this project, making sure that it is well within all federal standards. We will always allow the government to monitor the projects that we do and, after the completion, will allow their advisors to have control alongside us and the other partners, with the eventual goal that the harbor becomes federal property.

Our top story this evening, the first Presidential debate of the 2019 Presidential Election took place two nights ago and the results were quite favorable with both candidates. During the debate, both candidates were asked very thought out questions. In response to the question regarding the expansion of healthcare services, Senator Andrea Lacasa said she would be working with the pharmaceutical industry and hospitals to lower prices and would propose legislation to set limits on prices that pharmacies could charge. Governor Salvador Arrabal, when asked the same question, said he would not be in favor of limiting prices pharmacies could charge, but would be in favor of discussions with hospitals to lower prices on services. Governor Arrabal gained an advantage with people in San Luis and San Juan Provinces when he stated that he would be in favor of sending more government jobs to those locations. On the other hand, Senator Andrea Lacasa gained respect from soldiers and first responders when she stated that she would raise the pay of both, while also increasing teachers pay based on years of service. Current polls show Senator Lacasa winning by 8 percentage points.

Earlier this morning, the Mayor announced through her official page on ITalk that she and her husband Diego are expecting their second child. In her post, she stressed the importance of children's education and the role that family plays in the development of children. "My parents and my in-laws have been very involved in the life of my son Alejandro and will be involved in the life of our next child. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other relatives all play a major role in the development of children and I believe it is important for people to recognize this." The Mayor stated that she would not be stepping down from her role and would be even more dedicated to the expansion of education in the City of Rosario, which has the largest number of students and teachers nationwide. Our top story this evening, former President Juan Berrocal appeared before the Supreme Court today in the first hearing for his trial. The Supreme Court, which the former leader had tried to remove from power, heard arguments from the prosecution, led by Secretary of Justice Luciana Dengra, and from the Defense, headed by Luca Navarro. After hearing oral arguments for roughly three and a half hours, the Supreme Court convened for the day but ordered that Berrocal be released from prison and be put on house arrest. Supreme Court Spokeswoman Alina Miralles stated, "The Supreme Court decision to release the former President Berrocal from prison and place him under house arrest should come as no surprise to anyone. While the Supreme Court will prosecute him for his attempts to subvert the Constitution, amounting to crimes of treason, the Court also feels he should be able to see his family in this time." The Prosecution announced that they would seek only a 15 year prison sentence and would bar the former President from ever being able to run for office again. The Defense has stated that they would accept these terms if the Secretary of Justice wishes to make a deal.

First Vice President Sebastian Rega and Secretary of Health Miranda Venegas were in the city of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz today to speak with students at local high schools and universities about drug use, alcohol, and suicide. According to a recent poll done by the Federal Police Bureau, Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz has the highest suicide rate among teens, but has the 5th highest in terms of alcohol and drug usage. Secretary Miranda Venegas, who lost her sister to suicide, told students that if they are considering suicide, that they need to talk to someone, whether it be someone in their family, a friend, a minister, or a counselor. "People seem to have this notion that if you speak up, you will automatically be locked up in an insane asylum. This is not the case. The National Assembly recently approved the Mental Health Act of 2019, which allows people to receive the help they need if they are struggling through considering suicide, drug usage, alcoholism, and many more preventable habits", Venegas stated. VP Sebastian Rega spoke up and told students that there is always someone close to them going through this and that they should continually make friends with people and be with them to help them through their issues.

Our top story today, Mendoza Province officially elected a new governor last night! In December of 2018, Governor Valentín San Martín announced that after nearly 10 years in office that he would be stepping down from the position on 1 January 2019 with the Governor election to be held within 60 days. In accordance with provincial law, the regional legislature announced that they would also dissolve and call for elections to be held at the same time. The result of the election is the Justicialist candidate Isidoro Alvarado has been elected as Governor with Juan David Graciani has been elected as Lieutenant Governor. In the provincial legislature election, the Justiciliast Party took a majority of Senate seats, but fell 4 seats short of a majority in the House, causing a coalition to be formed with the National Conservative Union. An Inauguration ceremony will be held tomorrow.

In other news, police in North Corrientes are investigating a double homicide in the neighborhood of San Salvación. Police stated that this was highly unusual for this neighborhood and that they are yet to find any leads. According to a Spokeswoman for the Police Department, there were three people in the home, two of whom, a woman and a young child are dead, while the woman's husband, Doctor Nicolás Cadaval is in an undisclosed hospital ICU. "We are investigating this home invasion and attack to the fullest. This is a tragedy what has occurred and we wish to offer our condolences to the victims families and our prayers to Doctor Cadaval." President Molina went and visited the hospital and spoke with doctors who said they believe that the doctor will recover. President Molina has granted a 20 member National Police task force to aid in the investigation.

Our top story this evening, the people of North Corrientes are still reeling for the double homicide that took place this past weekend. The police department of the city announced that it was putting a fifth of all detectives on this investigation and so far there have been some results. According to a spokeswoman for the Department, "A search of the house has revealed several facts. The first is that the house of Doctor Cadaval was broken into. We also believe that the attackers may have been close to the family or were hired by someone because of the aggressiveness of the attack. We have one suspect in custody at this time and will be questioning this suspect throughout the coming week." In a statement released by the Department of Health for Corrientes, Doctor Cadaval is recovering quite well and has been moved out of the intensive care unit. Police are offering a 10,000 peso reward for any valid leads that will find the attackers.

The second Presidential debate took place last night in the city of Corrientes between Senator Andrea Lacasa and Governor Salvador Arrabal. The debate heavily focused on job creation, the advancement of healthcare, and the role of government in the agricultural industry. Early in the debate, Senator Lacasa got a standing ovation when she called for the decrease of government involvement in the agricultural industry and also stated that she would be in favor of tax incentives that would help farmers. On the same topic, she also stated that she is highly in favor of vertical farming and would like to see it active in all major cities. Governor Arrabal also gained some credit when he called on a free healthcare system across the nation, but also lost a few points when he stated he would be against decreasing government regulations to people in the work place, including Family Leave and Maternity leave, two things he wishes to get rid of. According to political commentators, Senator Lacasa gained 2 percentage points after the debate and is still highly favored to win the election.

In other news, President Irene Molina was in the city of Heravion today for the dedication of the RCN Vicealmirante Luciano Carita the newest addition to the Cojedan submarine fleet. The ship, which is the first submarine added to the navy in two years, is dedicated to Vice Admiral Luciano Carita who was a leader of a naval fleet during the Fascist War and led his squadron into battle against the Andrennian Navy. Carita, who was later awarded the title Hero of Cojedes, died in 1998, two years before the end of the Cojedan Socialist Civil War. The ship, which was planned and named in early 2007, was finally completed this past weekend after several setbacks. President Molina stated in her speech, "Vice Admiral Carita was an amazing man. He fought bravely for his country and refused to abandon ship no matter what came his way. Today, I am proud to dedicate this ship in his honor and wish its crew all the best." President Molina will also be traveling to Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz this week for the dedication of a new patrol boat for the Cojedan Coast Guard.

President Irene Molina was in the city of Mendoza today to commemorate the Second Civil War Battle of Mendoza. The battle, which took place in 1912, was between the unrecognized government of Leonardo Garcia and the students of Mendoza Military Academy. Cadets of the academy set up road blocks and barricaded themselves in to prepare for the attack. President Molina had this to say today, "The cadets fought for two weeks without any reinforcement. They fought until General Carmelo Gonzales told them to retreat. 200 of our brave heroes died during those two weeks for the defense of their home. Today, we commemorate them on the 107th anniversary of the battle with this statue dedicated to their honor. May we never forget those who gave their lives here for the defense of the Cojedan homeland."

Former President Juan Berrocal went before the Supreme Court today for the first hearing since his arraignment. The former leader gave a speech stating that he did what he felt was necessary and that he believes that it was withing the purview of the Presidents authority as chief executive. Chief Justice Valeria Garcia stated that she had never in her entire time in the courts seen such an abuse of power as was taken by the President. "I do not even really see why we are having a trial. We know that the President is guilty of the crimes brought against him. None of us deny that. The court will continue to meet and will decide a just punishment on 7th March." If the court rules that the President is guilty, he could spend up to life in prison.

Our top story this afternoon, the Senate has officially debated and voted to install a new Secretary of State Security. After nearly two weeks of committee meetings and hearings, the Senate took the vote this morning to confirm Jairo Manzanares to the position. The vote, which was nearly unanimous, saw members from both sides of the isle come together and confirm the Vice Admiral to the position. President Irene Molina congratulated Jairo and wished him well in his service to the country. Justice Yolanda Maria Covarrubias of the Constitutional Court swore Vice Admiral Manzanares into the position. Secretary Manzanares declared that he will be holding a meeting with other high ranking officials in the Department of State Security to underline the future of the Department and the steps going forward. Since Vice Admiral Jairo Manzanares was confirmed under an interim President, his term will continue through the next Presidency so long as he wishes to remain in the position.

In other news, House Opposition Leader Valentina Marquez announced that she would be stepping down from her position as the opposition leader effective immediately. In her speech on the House floor, Marquez indicated that her reasoning was a recent rise in radical beliefs of her members that she could not agree with. "I am grateful for the 5 years that I have served in this position. I will not however support the actions of the more radical members of my party. For this reason, I feel it necessary to step down from the position of Opposition Leader. I will continue to represent my constituents and will never stray from that goal." The announcement came as a shock to members of the House and people across the country. In total, 28,730,216 people voted in this Presidential election, the largest number ever seen in Cojedan history. The results are as follows:

Salvador Arrabal of the Liberal Coalition has received 12,066,691 votes, the equivalent of 42% of the electorate.
Andrea Lacasa of the National Conservative Union has received 16,663,525 votes, the equivalent of 58% of the electorate.

Therefore, by order of the Electoral Commission and according to the Constitution of Cojedes, Andrea Lacasa of San Luis is officially declared President of the Republic of Cojedes."

As we have just heard, Cojedes officially has a new President! Senator Andrea Lacasa has been elected President of the Republic with 58% of the vote, winning by 16%. In accordance with the federal law, President-elect Lacasa has officially resigned from her seat in the Senate, which will be filled in a special election next month. Governor Salvador Arrabal has called the President-elect and congratulated her on a hard fought campaign and has wished her the best of luck as President. Per the Constitution, the House of Representatives and Senate now has 72 hours to present a joint resolution to confirm Aitana Morterero and Antonia Navarro as First and Second Vice President respectively. We congratulate the President-elec and wish her the best of luck in her office.

In other news, the Cojedan House of Representatives voted today to move forward for Phase 3 of the Cojedes 2050 Strategy. Of the 364 members of the House, 328 members voted in favor of moving forward with the proposal. In a surprise move, former Opposition Leader Valentina Marquez voted in favor of the proposal, the only member of the Liberal Party to do so, causing some criticism from leadership of her party, but applause from all other members. The bill will be moved forward to the Senate for a vote and then will be presented to President Andrea Lacasa after she takes office.

Our top story this fine afternoon, President Andrea Lacasa went before a joint session of the Cojedan National Assembly today to present her plans for the future as well as nominations for Cabinet positions. Arriving to thunderous applause, President Lacasa spoke over her plans to help farmers across the country by granting extended tax write offs for the work that they do, as well as promoting the field of agriculture in schools to get more kids and teens interested in the line of work. Our top story this afternoon, several committees of the Senate of Cojedes have been meeting since Monday after the nominations for positions of the Cabinet of President Andrea Lacasa were announced. So far, only three of the nominees have been brought out of committee. The Senate Armed Forces Committee approved in a 22-2 vote to approve Joel Andino for the position of Secretary of Defense. The Senate Internal Affairs Committee has approved Valentina Marquez on a vote of 20-4 to become Secretary of Internal Affairs, while the Senate Transportation Committee has approved Victoria Barrios nomination by a vote of 24-0, the first time in history a committee has voted unanimously for a cabinet nomination. The three nominations will be debated before the Senate tomorrow, who will then vote on Friday for the three members. If Valentina Marquez receives the required majority of votes, she will become the first member of the Liberal Party to serve in a NCU Cabinet.

In other news, Secretary of Agriculture Aynia Timolova spoke at the University of Entre Ríos-Diamante today to students who are just starting out in the field of agriculture. According to the Secretary, "We are at a great time in our nation's history. We have discovered new farming techniques and these students here are able to learn from the best in their field." After discussing the role of the Department of Agriculture and the future of Agriculture in the nations economy, Secretary Timolova took questions from the students, including one regarding her thoughts on vertical farming, to which she had this to say, "I believe vertical farming is the path of the future. While we cannot replace the farms that we already have and in no way would attempt to, this could be one of the greatest things our country could endeavor upon." Our top story, the Cojedan Senate was busy this past Thursday and Friday as it held debates and votes on nominations put forth for cabinet positions by President Andrea Lacasa. Of the 14 nominations that the President made, 5 have so far passed committees and were brought forth before the full Senate. On Thursday, the Senate debated the entire session on all 5 nominees, with all 249 members given the ability to vocalize their opinion. On Friday morning, the Senate was brought into session by former President, now Chairman of the Senate Nestor Estávez, who then went on to bring forth all the votes before the session of the Senate. The results of the votes are as follows:

Valentina Marquez, confirmed as Secretary of Internal Affairs by a vote of 212-37.
Joel Andino, confirmed as Secretary of Defense by a vote of 236-13.
Victoria Barrios, confirmed as Secretary of Transportation by a vote of 241-8
Mateo Carvallo, confirmed as Secretary of Foreign Affairs by a vote of 215-34

All five were immediately sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Cojedes. History was made however as Valentina Marquez became the first member of the Liberal Party to ever serve in a Cabinet of the a NCU President. Marisol Manzanedo also made history by becoming the first nominee ever confirmed unanimously. Senate committees will meet Monday and Tuesday and are expected to confirm the remainder of the nominees for a full Senate vote by the end of the week.

In other news, the Cojedan College Basketball League will begin its annual tournament this coming week and will feature two new colleges. For the first time ever, the University of Entre Ríos and the University of Tucumán have both made it to Division I and will face off against No. 1 Ranked Rosario State University and No. 4 Ranked Corrientes University respectively. The tournament, which will span roughly one month, will take part over three separate divisions and will involve 96 colleges and universities across the nation. In an announcement released by the CCBL Board of Directors, the winning team will not only take home a trophy, but also one million Cojedan Pesos to be put to whatever use the team needs. The CCBL also announced that all teams will go home with something, with the first team eliminated taking home 25,000 pesos.

For the second time in the nominations of this cabinet, history was made twice. Victoria Barrios, the Secretary of Transportation, spoke at a summit here in Rosario this morning about the expansion of the electric rail that leads from the 5 major airports to the cities and the expansion of the high speed rail across Cojedes. The summit, which is being held with heads of different transportation industries, began this morning and will take place over the course of the next week. The meeting is being held to bring new ideas to the forefront and to seek government opinions and potential funding for projects. During a Q&A session, the Secretary was asked about the expansion of the electric rail and the high speed rail. In response, the Secretary said the following, "I am most honored to be in this position so that I can oversee this project. Currently, the electric rail leads from the 5 major airports in 4 of our major cities. The Department of Transportation plans to begin expansion projects in San Luis, San Juan, La Rioja, and Santiago del Estero. In regards to the high speed rail, we will be in contact with RailCojedes and other companies to potentially expand the high speed rail to other provinces. We plan to one day have the high speed rail connect to the Entre Ríos and Córdoba Provinces. Our top story, hockey playoffs are just starting across the country this week as the Cojedan Hockey League, the Liga Federal de Hockey (Federal Hockey League), and the Cojedan Premier Hockey League have finally made it to their playoffs after the regular season. The CHL, the nations highest professional hockey league, will see 18 of its teams face off for the greatest reward, the Heravion Cup. The first game of this playoff takes place tonight and is expected to last until June at the latest. The favored team to win is the Corrientes Flyers, who is currently ranked second in the league. The LFH will also begin its playoff this weekend, with 16 teams facing off to win the President's Cup, while the CPHL will begin its championship next weekend for the National Cup, with 10 teams facing off for the glory. For the first time in history, all three teams from Rosario and Corrientes have made it to the playoffs in their respective leagues. Also in regards to hockey, the National Provincial Cup has been won by Team Santiago del Estero for the first time in history. In the final, they faced off against Team Corrientes and won 6-5 in a Shootout.

In other news, President Andrea Lacasa has been busy in her first month as President, seeking to undo some of the damage caused by former President Juan Berrocal. One of her first acts as President was to restore the voting rights to people who were considered by the Department of Justice as first time offenders who had served their debt to society. Our top story this morning, Cojedan pop singer Manuel Vera is taking the nation by storm with his new song "La Venda" (The Blindfold). The song, which was performed for the first time during the 2nd Intermission of the HC Rosario-HC Dynamo Heravion game, has been the most played song on the radio for the past two weeks, along with being the number one song most bought on IMusic. "La Venda" has also become the number one song listened to on YouMusic, with the music video being watched over 35,000,000 times within 24 hours of its release. We spoke with Manuel who had the following to say, "I am so thrilled at how popular the song is. I am glad we released the song when we did because it is just in time for the summer season. I have heard it played so many times over the past week and a half and am very excited about it". President Andrea Lacasa even commented on the song saying that it was a very good song and wished him all the best, while also announcing he would be awarded the Blue Star Award, Class 3 for the advancement of Cojedan music.

In other news, President Andrea Lacasa met with members of the cabinet, high ranking members of the National Assembly, and the Governor's Council this week to discuss the continued expansion of the military. Under former President Berrocal and Acting President Molina, the military continued to expand for the first time in nearly 20 years. The meeting was to allocate the funding appropriately to the military and to which departments it would go to. After a week of meetings, President Lacasa signed the Military Expansion Act of 2019, allowing the military reforms made under the previous President's to continue. The act will continue the expansion of the Army and of the Navy, while slowing the expansion of the Air Force. The government declared that there would not be much expansion left, but that it would continue soon in the coming months and years.

Our top story this evening, Vice President Antonia Navarro and Secretary of Health Marisol Manzanedo were in the city of Corrientes this morning for the dedication of the new Corrientes State University Medical Center. After nearly five years of construction, the center was opened this morning with nearly 10,000 people in attendance of the ceremony. Vice President Navarro spoke on the achievements that have been made by completing this center and wished the medical professionals that work there all the best. Secretary Manzanedo cut the ribbon officially opening the center, which has already begun to see patients. Secretary Manzanedo will also be the keynote speaker at the Corrientes State University graduation next week.

Sad news out of the Cojedan Hockey League as it was announced that Rosario Marksmen player Alexander Tassis will miss the remainder of the playoffs after being injured during Game 5 against the Heravion Wolves. Towards the end of the 3rd Period, with the Marksmen being ahead 3-2, Alexander was hit head on by Heravion Wolves player Elías Carballar, sending him into a crash collision with the goal and eventually the wall of the rink. It has been reported to us that Tassis had a concussion and also a broken collarbone, which he had surgery on yesterday. It was then reported that Tassis will miss the rest of the playoffs. We were also informed by the CHL that Carballar had gone to the hospital and apologized to Tassis and stated that he didn't mean to injure him. Tassis told Carballar that he forgave him and let bygones be bygones. The Marksmen advanced past Round 1 and are now awaiting for Game 7 to take place between the Corrientes Flyer and the Santa Fe Warriors.

In other news, Cojedan TV and Radio 1 (CTR1), announced earlier this morning that hit Cojedan television show "Cojedes Next Best Singer" will be returning for its 5th season this summer. The decision was announced after the show had a very successful 4th season, with over 32% of the Cojedan public watching the grand final. The director of CTR1, Emmanuel Vega, announced that host Evangelina Carrea would return to host the show for a third time in a row. In regards to the judges, Vega stated that Miranda Villa, Antonio Pozo, and Luca Murillo would all be returning for a third, fourth, and fifth season respectively. In his announcement, Vega said, "These three have become a part of our show. They are essentially the show. They are amazing judges and the majority of the singers they have mentored have gone far." The fourth judge will be announced at a later date. According to a poll, Manuel Vera, the most recent winner of the show, should be the fourth judge as he is the most famous winner of the contest. Vera was mentored by singer Antonio Pozo.

Our top story this morning, great news for Rosario Marksmen fans came last night as the team is now leading the series against the Santa Fe Warriors 2-0. The first game, which took place on Wednesday night, saw the Rosario Marksmen win 5-3. In the second game, which took place at the Rosario Sports Complex, the Marksmen won 4-2, with goalie Iker Costa blocking 55 of 57 shots taken at the goal, the highest result thus far for any goaltender. The Liga Federal de Hockey (Federal Hockey League) has also gotten into Round 2 of the 4 round tournament, while the Cojedan Premier Hockey League is still in round 1. According to recent reports, the Cojedan Hockey League, the highest league, has had the highest turnout ever in its history, with an average attendance of 18,756. It was also reported that Marksmen player Alexander Tassis has gone through surgery and is recovering well.

Secretary of Health Marisol Manzanedo gave the keynote address this morning at the Corrientes State University Commencement Ceremony this morning, calling for better healthcare across the nation and for students to take action. In front of a crowd of 32,000+ people, Secretary Manzanedo received a standing ovation for her work to get students pro-active about health and nursing. The Secretary stated, "Corrientes State University has prepared you for your future. They have prepared you for working in healthcare, economics, labor, politics, law, education, and several other fields. I believe that you all are the most prepared that you can be and wish all of you the best in your future endeavors." The Secretary also was given an honorary Bachelor's Degree in Social Work for the work she has done among children and for the advancement of children's healthcare.

The University of Rosario announced this morning that President Andrea Lacasa will be the keynote speaker of the commencement ceremony that takes place next Saturday. The announcement came after a shortlist was revealed earlier this week that included President Lacasa, former President Irene Molina, and Former President, now Senator Caleb Fernandez. The ceremony will be the 175th graduation ceremony that the University has had and will be only the 6th time that a President has been asked to do the address. It is unknown what the President will speak on, but it is expected to draw a large crowd as it is one of the first public addresses that the President has given since her inauguration and State of the Republic Address.

Our top story, a new song has taken over Cojedan airwaves as singers Sara Stephanie Cabal and Luana de la Cruz have released a new song entitled "Fuego de Amor" (Fire of Love). The song was released early Wednesday morning and quickly became a hit among the general public. Also featured in the song are singers Melaine Tafalla and María Laguna. After the release of the song, it was announced that the pair will in fact be the representatives for the City of Corrientes at the Cojedan National Song Contest, which will take place in the city of Córdoba on 27 and 28 July. The song is already a fan favorite and has been viewed at least 30 million times on YouMusic in the past 24 hours. On IMusic, the song has been bought over 12 million times. The four women are noted for being traditional singers and for having the ability to sing in the "White Voice" technique.

In other news, the House of Representatives voted early today to approve an increase in the minimum wage across the country. In response to the City of Rosario and City of Heravion increasing minimum wage to 8.50 pesos an hour for all workers in the municipalities, the House voted to raise the minimum wage across the country to 8.75 an hour, with discussion to raise to 9 pesos by 2022, and to 10 by 2028. The Minimum Wage Act of 2019 was proposed by former President Valentina Perón, who is currently a Representative for the 7th District of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz. The vote was near unanimous, with 12 members voting against, and 3 not present at the time of the vote. The bill will now go before the Senate where it is also expected to pass. All businesses will now be required to pay workers at least 8.75 pesos an hour, while cities and provinces will be allowed to raise the minimum wage to no more than 11 pesos an hour until 2025.

Our top story, President Andrea Lacasa announced this morning that she will officially be bringing up two of her campaign promises. During her campaign, President Lacasa promised that she would advance transportation and make conditions better for farmers. In keeping with her promises, President Lacasa announced that the Department of Agriculture will be devoting 2.3 billion pesos to the vertical farming projects taking place across the nation and another 5 billion pesos will be devoted to farmers for whatever needs. In regards to transportation, President Lacasa announced that the Department of Transportation would be advancing road construction from the back roads to the main roads, would be repairing damaged roads, building new railways, and also expanding the metro systems in major cities, especially ones leading from airports. The two projects combined is expected to cost anywhere from 60 billion to 100 billion pesos and will be a project done over the course of the next 15 years.

The City of Córdoba has officially announced their representative to the Cojedan National Song Contest, which will be held in the city on 27 and 28 July. This morning, Córdoba Radio and Television announced that Luca Roko Carvallo will be representing the City with his song "The Dream". The song, which was released yesterday, has already became a fan favorite. The song will be sung in both Mercanti and Cojedan, becoming the first song to be sung at the contest in more than one language. Luca, who also goes by his middle name Roko, is also the youngest singer to go to the contest, being only 17 when the contest arrives in July. We sat down and interviewed Roko and he had the following to say, "I am very excited about being able to represent my hometown in the contest. I never thought that I would be chosen to represent my city." Later in the interview, Roko told us that the meaning of his song is for people to dream high and reach for the sky. "I think the real purpose of my song was to encourage people my age and younger, and even those older, to reach for the sky. I hope that people will understand that as the message behind it and will enjoy the performance when it comes around. Córdoba National Arena, which is capable of holding 19,250 people, will host the contest in its two day event, with the first day being the red carpet opening with several singers from across Cojedes performing at the contest.

Our top story this morning, the Supreme Court of Cojedes has found former President Juan Andres Berrocal guilty of all 8 charges against the former leader. In December, President Berrocal was arrested after he attempted to dissolve the National Assembly and to remove members from the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Valeria Garcia read the verdict this morning before the court. In her statement, she had the following to say: "I am appalled and ashamed that a leader, a person who promised to help and support the people, had to be dragged here before this court. What Mr. Berrocal did is the most despicable thing that any modern leader of our country has ever done since the time of the Socialists holding power in our country. With this being said, it is the decision of this court that the actions of Mr. Berrocal were illegal and that Mr. Berrocal is hereby found guilty of treason, violating the security of Cojedes, crimes against the nation, and sedition. Therefore, Mr. Berrocal is hereby sentenced to 50 years in a federal prison, with the possibility of parole after 30 years. As well, Mr. Berrocal's voting rights will be stripped. It is so ruled." After the decision was announced to the nation, people celebrated and held rallies to support the decision of the Supreme Court. President Andrea Lacasa released a statement, declaring that justice was finally served against a criminal who abused his position.

Carmen Alarcón, Chief of Staff of the Navy, and Orlando Coronil, Chief of Staff of the Coast Guard, met with President Andrea Lacasa and Secretary of Defense Joel Andino yesterday morning to discuss the growing state of the Cojedan Navy and Coast Guard. After several hours of meeting, the four leaders held a press conference in which they announced that the Navy would be divided into 3 different naval groups. The Navy announced that Naval Group North will be led by the RCN Heravion, Naval Group East being led by the RCN Libertad (helicopter carrier), while Naval Group West will be led by the RCN Rosario and the RCN Santa Cruz (Amphibious Assault Ship). The Coast Guard on the other hand will be divided into 4 group, with the Coast Guard having two Northern groups. North Guard 1 will be led by the RCCG Bella Vista, while North Guard 2 will be led by the RCCG Gloria Rodriguez. Coast Guard Group West will be led by the RCCG Tolhuin and RCCG Viedma, while Coast Guard Group East will be led by the RCCG Valcheta and the RCCG Monteros. President Lacasa stated that having the four groups was important as a lot of commerce travels through the Cojedan waters and that there are times where illegal activities take place. Following the meeting, the four traveled down to the Rosario Naval base, where the RCN San Ignacio and the RCN Villa Nueva, were both commissioned. The RCN San Ignacio will be deployed to Heravion with Naval Group North, while the Villa Nueva will remain in Rosario with Naval Group East. The President also announced that several cities would become home to the different naval groups, with at least 4 cities playing host to Naval Group East, while Naval Group North and Naval Group West would have at least 3 cities playing host to their fleets. However, it remains unannounced which cities will be the hosts.

Our top story today, former President Irene Molina was honored today by President Andrea Lacasa, when the current leader awarded the former the Order of the Blue Cross, the nation's highest honor. The ceremony, which occurred this morning, was attended by almost all members of the National Assembly, the entire Cabinet of President Lacasa, and the members of the Supreme Court, as well as nearly 40,000 members of the public. In President Lacasa's speech, she praised President Molina for her valiant efforts during the interim period and also praised her for keeping the peace during the transition. "My friend, President Molina, did an amazing job in keeping the peace after the disaster that occurred in December. I am very glad that this happened the way it did. President Molina is the most deserving of this award than anyone I have ever seen. I am pleased and proud to give this award to my good friend." The former leader gave a powerful, yet emotional speech in which she thanked the President and the nation for this honor and promised to continue working for the betterment of the Cojedan state.

Vice President's Aitana Morterero and Antonia Navarro have been traveling across the country, speaking to students, teachers, and leaders across the nation. Earlier this week, VP Antonia Navarro was in San Luis Province, discussing the economic climate with the Governor and Speaker of the Regional Parliament, while VP Aitana Morterero was in Heravion Province, speaking to medical students and recently graduated medical professionals. According to the Department of Internal Affairs, the two are traveling across the country in a new program to keep provincial leaders informed of the issues being raised at the federal level and to get their opinions on these issues, while also encouraging students and teachers to get involved in government. On Monday, VP Antonia Navarro will travel to Corrientes Province, while VP Aitana Morterero will be in San Juan Province.

Our top story this evening, Representative Valentino Garrido was arrested this morning by Capital Police on charges of assault and battery. During today's Legislative Session, Representative Garrido of the 1st District of San Juan was giving a speech on the floor when Capital Police appeared to be speaking with the Speaker of the House. The Speaker halted Mr. Garrido from continuing on his speech and Capital Police arrested him immediately following this. According to Police Commissioner Gabriel Fernandino, the Representative was filmed pushing two individuals out of the way while on the way into last Thursday's Legislative Session, as well as throwing a drink on Representative Selena Ferrant. Under the Standing Orders of the National Assembly, Representative Garrido was removed from his position and a special election will be held on 1 September.

In other news, President Andrea Lacasa announced the creation of a new scholarship this morning. House Bill 1038.5.61, also known as "Ana Sofia's Law", created the Ana Sofia Sainz Scholarship, which was signed by President Lacasa this morning. Ana Sofia Sainz was a nurse from Heravion Province who served on the front lines during the Fascist War as an Army Nurse and later became the first woman to ever serve on the Board of Directors of Heravion Health, the Province's Public Healthcare System. According to the "Ana Sofia Sainz Scholarship" Guidelines, anyone who wishes to be a servant of the people, whether in the medical, education, or labor field may apply for the scholarship and may receive up to 5,000 ₳, one of the largest government rewards in the country. Ana Sofia Sainz's daughter Teresa was at the signing of the bill and thanked the President and the House for recognizing her mother's work among the people. Governor Cristina Corazón of Entre Ríos Province announced that her province would be working to create a similar scholarship to be awarded to agriculture and technology students in her province.

Our top story this morning, the National Conservative Union announced this morning that it would be expanding. Early this morning, NCU Chairwoman Celeste Romero announced that the political party "Nueva Democracia" (New Democracy) will be joining the NCU effective the 1st of August. "Nueva Democracia", which is known for its conservative values, is a smaller party who has yet to receive any seats in the House or Senate of Cojedes, but has won elections in 3 provinces, including one member, Victor Andrés being elected Governor of Santa Fe. According to recent polls, the party is expected to join the House in the 2020 election. New Democracy party leader Isidoro Manzanedo thanked the NCU for accepting them into the Union and declared his parties support for the current Government and promised to assist in any way that he could.

Secretary of State Security Jairo Manzanares held a press conference this morning where he stated that repairs to the border and to international ferries would begin in the next few days. According to the Secretary, due to recent storms across the South of Cojedes, 12% of border fencing was damaged and requires immediate repair. "The storms caused severe damage because the border of Cojedes and Andrenne. The border fencing near the main two checkpoints was damaged when several trees collapsed on them. We have ordered the fencing to be replaced and it will begin later this week." In regards to the ferries, the Secretary said several upgrades were needed. "Travel by sea makes up a huge part of the Cojedan tourist economy. A huge portion of travel between Cojedes and its neighbors takes place by the ferries. We have noticed in recent years that several of the ferries need upgrades as soon as it is possible." The President signed off on the repairs to the border and to the upgrades of ferries after the House and Senate passed an 8.75 billion peso package.

Our top story this afternoon, the Senate has voted to approve the Minimum Wage Act of 2019. On 24th May, the House of Representatives near unanimously passed the Minimum Wage Act of 2019, with only 13 members dissenting. After several weeks of debate in the Senate, Chairman Nestor Estávez called for a vote to be held no later than today. In a surprise, the Senate voted 243-2-4 to pass the Minimum Wage Act, officially sending the act to the President to be signed. The two members who voted against were Adoración de la Cruz (LP) and Salvador Santino Mariano (Ind.). President Andrea Lacasa immediately signed the act into law, officially raising the minimum wage across Cojedes to 8,75 Peso Per Hour. President Lacasa declared it as a historic day for the nation and for the economy. "I am amazed at how far we have come. When I was little, we never dreamed we would even make it past 6,50 Pesos an Hour. Now, to be at 8,75 Pesos Per Hour, this is a historic day for our nation." Treasury Secretary Celeste Romero said the change to 8,75 Pesos Per Hour will take effect on 1 October.

AquaSpring Industries and the City of Rosario held a press conference this morning to discuss the progress of the projects that began in January. In January, we reported that the company and the city had reached an agreement to build 2 desalination plants, 2 hydroelectric plants, and a harbor. According to AquaSpring Industries CEO Alberto Arboleda, "The projects are coming along tremendously well. We cannot estimate where we are on the projects as they will take several years to complete, but we have come further than we ever expected we would be at this point. We are grateful for the hard labor and hours that our workers have put in and the help that the City of Rosario and that the Federal Government have given to us." Mayor Micaela Saavedra also said, "It has been an amazing experience to work alongside AquaSpring Industries and the workers. They are such amazing people and we are proud to have them here in our beautiful city. We are hoping that we can bring more updates as soon as possible and that the desalination plants will be open soon." During the press conference, it was also announced that AquaSpring Industries and the Federal Government had reached an agreement to build a new pumping system to help relieve flooding, which occurs every several years in the 9th, 14th, and 19th Wards of Rosario every year.

Our final story for the day, Former Vice President Sebastian Rega, who currently is a member of the Senate of Cojedes, gave a speech on mental health before the Senate Health Commission today, calling for even better reforms to occur for people who need mental health assistance across the country. "We have spent several years here in the Senate, and even in the House of Representatives, to try to make better lives for people who suffer from mental health issues, including depression, PTSD, TBI, drug usage, suicide contemplation, alcoholism, and many other issues. While we have made great strides in recent years, what we are doing isn't enough. We need to make aid, including doctors, therapist, and counsellors more ready and available for whatever situation they may be going into. We must do more for people who suffer from these issues and try to make things better for them." According to a recent survey, as many as 63% of veterans from the Fascist War, 30% from the Socialist Civil War, and nearly 40% of Paramedics suffer from some form of PTSD. Senator Rega announced that he would be proposing a new bill in the coming days that will include funding for greater mental health.

Our top story this evening, historic flagship RCN Esperanza has officially moved from the city of Rosario to the city of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz. The RCN Esperanza, which is now a museum ship, was once the pride of the Cojedan Navy. During the Fascist War, the RCN Esperanza was the only Cojedan battle cruiser to survive the First Battle of Rosario, during the Andrennian Invasion of Cojedes. Several years later, the RCN Esperanza led the First Fleet, which included the aircraft carriers RCN Rey del Norte and the RCN Reina del Sur, in the Second Battle of Rosario, which led to the collapse of the Andrennian bombardment and blockade of the city. The RCN Esperanza would later go on to aid the Navy in the bombardment of the Andrennian coast towards the end of the war. During the two battles of Rosario, the ship had anywhere from 6 to 8 confirmed kills. Today, the battle cruiser serves as a museum and is moved once a year to a different city on the coast. Next year on 23 July, the ship will be moved to the city of Mendoza, where it will remain until 23 July 2021.

In other news, the Cojedan Navy announced this morning that it will be building a new helicopter carrier. Earlier today, Chief of Staff of the Navy Carmen Alarcón and Secretary of Defense Joel Andino held a press conference in which the two announced the construction of the new carrier. According to the Chief of Staff, "The Navy is prepared to build a new line of carriers. The ship will be the second of the Libertad-class Helicopter Carriers. The second ship, which will be called the RCN Evita Arias, named after the late former President who brought our nation back together." According to Secretary Andino, "The RCN Evita Arias will be the second of four ships planned in the Libertad Class. The Libertad Class will be expanded over the next 12 to 14 years and, while the RCN Evita Arias is being built, there will be several changes made from the original." When questioned as to what the changes would be, the Chief of Staff said that the RCN Evita Arias would be able to carry certain jets of the Cojedan Air Force, but did not state at this time which ones it would be. In the same press conference, the two said that the Navy will expand the Amphibious Assault Ship class known as the Independencia-Class. The RCN Evita Arias will be laid down on the First of August, while the RCN Mendoza (RCN-271) will be laid down on the First of September. The Cojedan House and Senate voted to approve the contract for Cojedan Industrial Arms to build the two ships. The expected cost of the two is 2,5 billion Cojedan Pesos.

Our top story this evening, the Rosario Municipal Council was dissolved this morning by Mayor Micaela Saavedra, becoming the first time this has ever happened in a major city. The Mayor, speaking at a press conference, announced the decision to dissolve the Council and call for new elections due to a deadlock vote on the 2020-2021 Rosario Municipal Budget. "If our city council is so ineffective to the point that it cannot even make a budget, the only alternative is to start from scratch. That is why I have decided to dissolve the Rosario Municipal Council and am calling for elections to be held no later then the 15th of September." The decision to dissolve the Council was met with applause in the room, but also with some opposition in Independence Square and in the Hall of the House of Representatives, where House leaders both condemned and applauded the decision. The President has yet to release any statement on the matter, but a member of the President's Office says that she is hoping the budget can be passed in a timely manner.

In other news, former President Irene Molina was officially sworn into the Senate of Cojedes this morning. Early this week, President Andrea Lacasa announced her intent to appointed the former leader to the Senate as a life member. In her speech earlier this week, the President praised Former President Molina for being a bastion of faith for the nation and an amazing leader in a trying time. People were unsure how the President was going to be allowed to appoint the former leader into the Senate as it is traditionally accepted that the President can only appoint 6 life members; however, the Supreme Court took up the matter and ruled the due to one of the life members being Chairman of the Senate, that the seat was up for grabs and paved the way for the appointment. Former President Molina thanked current President Lacasa for her faith in her and thanked the Senate, House, and Supreme Court for this amazing opportunity and promised to serve the nation to the best of her ability.

Our top story this afternoon, President Andrea Lacasa officially released a statement regarding the dissolution of the Rosario Municipal Council. In a press conference held around noon, President Lacasa had the following to say, "I have been asked by many members of the public to discuss this topic today. I have to say that, while I am surprised at the decision by the Mayor of Rosario, I fully believe that she made the right decision. The issue at hand, the so called "Health for All Amendment", is one I am passionate about and I stand here today and say that the bill should have been passed. I look forward to the future elections and I wish the best to those who are elected." According to documents obtained by the city, the "Health for All Amendment" would provide healthcare for children of families who make under a certain amount of money per year. Under the Dissolution Act of 1950, the members of the council who were removed will be ineligible to run for re-election until 2028.

The President of the Cojedan Congress of Churches, Pastor Jairo Cicerón, was founded murdered in his church in Heravion this morning. At 4 this morning, police responded to a call of shots fired at the New Testament Salvation Church in the Mataderos Borough, the church Pastor Cicerón was Senior Pastor over. Upon arrival at the church, Heravion PD discovered the body of the pastor at the altar. Security camera footage reveals that at least 5 people were in the main sanctuary, including the pastor. Police said they have collected several items of evidence, including one DNA swab that will be tested in the National Database. The Congress released a statement offering their sincere condolences to the family of the pastor and former leader of the Congress. They also applauded his many years of service to the nation and to God. Associate Pastor Antonio Cicerón, the son of the late Pastor, announced that he will be stepping up in his father's place and will lead church services tomorrow. The Heravion Police Department stated that this case is a top priority and that several detectives would be on the case.

Our top story this afternoon, the National Assembly has passed the Federal Health Regulation Act of 2019, officially capping the prices on several medications nationwide. Earlier this year, the government presented an act to aid in lowering the price on insulin, one of the most needed drugs across the country. After several meetings with pharmaceutical companies, Representatives Tomas Arboleda (Rosario 15) and Maria Alejandra Freixa (Heravion 7) proposed the Federal Health Regulation Act to cap the price of insulin at 110 pesos per month. According to Representative Freixa, "The price of insulin varies depending on what insurance company you have. It is an unfortunate situation that our people have to spend so much money on medication that saves their lives. We need to help the situation, not cause our people to live in ruin and shambles." The bill passed the House and Senate with an overwhelming majority in both chambers and was signed by President Lacasa early this afternoon.

In other news, the City of Rosario is preparing for the election of the members of the Municipal Council. All throughout the city, campaign signs can be seen and people are choosing sides. The most notable candidate is Orlando Carvallo, a singer and political activist. Carvallo, who is a running as a candidate for the National Conservative Union, has held several campaign rallies, including one in Independence Square which hosted more than 100,000 people. According to political commentators, Carvallo is popular because he is running on a platform that people like. "Carvallo is running for what the people of the city want: Advanced healthcare, education reform, and reforming the culture of the city is something people in our great city want and this is something Carvallo is campaigning on." The election is slated to be held on 15 September.

We are only one day away from the Municipal Council election in Rosario and tensions across the city are heating up. During a debate earlier this week, candidates Daniel Ruiz and Emiliano Cortes became involved in a brawl after the two exchanged heated words in regards to the current government of President Lacasa. According to candidate Ruiz, the current government is one of the best our country has seen in a long time, whereas, candidate Cortes stated he believes the current government is corrupt and that President Lacasa is only a figurehead and not a true leader of our nation. Following the fight, both sides poll numbers have increased by a margin of 8%. Citizens of Rosario are preparing to make their voices known, and as we have seen by the number of people taking to the streets to voice their opinion, it is unsure how this election will truly end.

The House of Representatives and Senate of Cojedes have approved a bill that would officially raise the minimum wage across the country from the current 7.25 Pesos per Hour to 9 pesos per hour. In a press release from the National Assembly, members of the official government declared that the current standard pay did not meet up to the cost of living in the country and that it was time for a change. According to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Francisco Indiano, "When the minimum wage act that set the wage at 7.25 an hour was passed, we were living in a different time. Things were much cheaper, the cost of living in major cities was a lot less, but now we are in a new age and it is time that our people be able to make a living wage." President Andrea Lacasa signed the bill into law and, effective the 1st of October, 9 pesos per hour will officially be the minimum wage across the nation.

The Government of Heravion Province announced this morning that it would be installing an electronic-toll system in and around the city of Heravion. The city, which is the largest in all of the Northern Provinces, will be installing a toll road to help raise funds for the cities infrastructure and to help the city potentially control the number of people entering the city during rush hours. According to a memo release, during rush hours, a toll of 15 pesos will be charged to enter the city, while during regular hours, only 4 pesos will be charged. In the same memo, it also stated that during times when the city has to be evacuated due to storms that hit the city, that the toll will not be charged for leaving or re-entering the city limits.

Our top story this morning, the Rose Palace, the official residence of President Andrea Lacasa and her family, released a statement this morning, announcing that her son Antonio and his wife Alejandra have given birth to their first child, a son named Michael. Early this morning, President Andrea Lacasa was awoken by news from the Rosario Medical Center that Alejandra was in labor and expected to deliver at any time. According to the press release, "the entire family got ready and drove to the hospital in the early morning hours to be there for the birth of the child. It was around 8 this morning that the baby, named Michael Alejandro Montoya Lacasa, was born weighing 6 lbs, 4 ounces." Immediately following the announcement, governors from all provinces sent their congratulations to the family and wished the baby the best of health. This is the first grandchild of President Andrea Lacasa and her husband, Christian.

In other news, Second Vice President Antonia Navarro is preparing to make a trip around the country to speak to meet with the Provincial Governors and the Mayors of each provincial capital. The trip will take Her Excellency to each of the 13 provinces, first with a stop in her home province of Corrientes. The trip is expected to take a total of 15 to 16 weeks, giving her at least 1 week in each province. On her journey, she will be accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Mateo Carvallo, the Secretary of Internal Affairs Valentina Marquez, and the Secretary of Transportation Victoria Barrios. Vice President Navarro told our reporters that she is looking forward to the journey across the country and hopes that the talks will be successful. "We are hoping to get all the Governors in agreement regarding a new venture in the Cojedes 2050 Strategy. We have already made decent progress in the 2050 Strategy, but we are currently focusing on our 2025 Vision Project and we will need the support of the 13 Governors to make it possible."
