Good afternoon and welcome to Cojedes 24. This is Teresa Andrade bringing you all the news from Cojedes.
Our top story this morning, the President of Cojedes has authorized the lifting of the majority of the new sanctions that were placed on Ninhundland right before the Christmas season. The move comes after a new vote in the Cojedan National Assembly retracted a major section of the sanctions that has been authorized, but still like the travel ban in effect until January 29th. The National Assembly did vote however to lower the visa-free stay for Ninhunders from 35 to 15, meaning that Ninhunder's without a visa, residency status, or citizenship to Cojedes, can be expelled from the country after a 5 day grace period. The Governor of Corrientes Province in the south applauded the move, while the Lieutenant Governor of Heravion Province, the earliest capital of Cojedes, called for a 10 day grace period over a 5 day. The Secretary of Foreign Affairs declared that once the travel ban is lifted, he will begin issuing visa's once more to the Ninhundish people.
Schools across the country were closed today as snow and ice, mixed in with wind and low temperatures have caused hazardous conditions nationwide. In the city of Santa Cruz, storm surges, mixed in with the freezing temperatures caused the water that hit the roads to freeze over quite quickly and even caused several cars to be inaccessible due to the doors being frozen. In Rosario, the business district has been inaccessible by three of the seven roads since Tuesday due to ice covering many of them. Footbridges leading into the district were also closed as water levels continued to rise across the city. 2 of the 3 rivers in the city have seen rising water levels since the day after Christmas, leading to hazardous flooding, that has eventually frozen. In the city of Heravion, the original capital, over 5ft of snow has fallen and has stopped the provincial and local government from being able to meet in their respective areas. The Federal government deployed workers from the Department of Transportation all across the nation to begin pushing snow. Since this weather began, 5 people have died and 40 have been reported to be injured.
That is all for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24. Have a good day!
