ARCHIVED: The Great War

Nebula:
"Drones!"
"Jam their signals!"

The drones, having lost their controllers, began to fall out of the sky, one by one.
Some drones were broken and fell out of the sky, but the majority stuck. The Nebulans could not get to all the drones -- the drones, after all, had to survive testing in order to be integrated as part of the Kannexan military. Jamming would not deter them. On secure links the operators continued to pilot their drones, crashing into Nebulan warships when damaged and bringing the fighter closer and closer to the Nebulan formations.

The Nebulans still suffered under the collective weight of missiles from both Rhuvish and Kannexan ships, drone attacks, bombers and fighters, torpedoes from ships and submarines, and jamming of radar. The Nebulan troops on-ground were surrounded, the Nebulan fleet itself was cornered, the aircraft carriers were easy targets for the stream of missiles and torpedoes that came from the Kannexan surface ships.

OOC: Please check Syrixia's map updates before making statements like this. Thank you.
OOC: I have naval dominance. You didn't secure naval supremacy in the region before you landed your troops. You yourself mentioned the naval battle is still going on, so it is a simple matter of cutting off Nebulan supply lines and transports.

OOC: Yes, but look at the map. Your navy may have my troops trapped, but we have control over most of Rhuvanland at this point. And aircraft operating out of Port Florrantia can still bring in reinforcements.

OOC: You're deep in Rhuvish territory, surrounded on all sides by Rhuvish guerrillas. The Nebulan troops are cut off from naval support and being hammered by Rhuvish and Kannexan aircraft. Now, let's refrain from OOC. You need to respond to my posts.

OOC: Last I checked, according to my most recent map update, (edited to be more time-conscientious) Nebula only has a small bit of land east of Bürheim City. Anyways, I'm back. Lemme make a postie wostie.

The Guslant government has the solemn promise of the Nebulan government that our forces will do nothing to violate Guslant neutrality.

Thank you, we appreciate the concern given by the Nebulan government. We hope for a speedy resolution to this conflict, and offer Guslantis as a neutral territory in this war.

The Aussenministerium of the Kannexan Reich pledges to respect Guslant neutrality.
We also thank Kannex for their respect. We hope Pigletville (and Guslantis) can be considered as a neutral location for the parties during the war, and after the war, when peace discussions need moderation.

"Is everything in place?" said the Chancellor. The Wässrigtod was ready to roll. "Yes, Frau Liesel." replied an officer. The officer then turned and gave the order to start the Wässrigtod's voyage. This baby was a submersible carrying explosives on it. It would latch itself to the Nebulan flagship and then explode, causing a huge ripple in the water as well as a fatal leak in the bottom of the Nebulan flagship. The submersible slowly made its way out to sea, where the Nebulan ships were anchored; waiting for the next day, when battles would resume.

The submersible quietly approached the Nebulan flagship, with Mission Command making sure its lights were off and its night-vision was on. It went down deep enough to be practically unhearable, and then slowly came up to latch onto the ship. The Nebulans appeared to be unaware. Now would be a better time than ever. "The Wässrigtod is latched, primed, and ready, Frau Liesel. We are ready to detonate upon your order." Liesel looked back at her generals as well as Heidi Rhein, who was sitting beside her. Liesel and Rhein nodded to each other, and then Liesel's mouth opened.

"Es ist zeit zu gehen!"

Suddenly, the Nebulan flagship was rocked by an explosion from the bottom of the ship. Lights turned on. Frantic yelling could be heard coming from the ship. After a few minutes, it began to very slowly move down, and just as slowly tip over to one end...

Mikita woke up abruptly at the governor's mansion in Pigletville. "Something is-", she began, stroking her long grey hair. She had a dream, one in which she heard the many screams of Guslant citizens, as they took their last breaths of life. She quickly got out of her bed, and proceeded to get dressed. She put on a suit, and went downstairs to exit the mansion. One of the guards blocked the door as Mikita tried to leave. "Hilley's last wishes before leaving were to incorporate a national curfew. No one out after 11 o'clock," he said. "Get out of my way," she yelled, and the guard moved back.

She opened the door and proceeded onto Jacque Boulevard. She walked slowly while running her fingers through her hair stressfully. "How is this even possible?", she asked herself. "Why does war hurt Guslantis when war isn't even in our nation?", she asked further. "I want to help, but I don't want to enter this war!", she yelled. "Who does Leah call when she's stressed?", she asked, putting on her glasses and dialing Alfred Nursson. What was she thinking? Calling diplomats in the middle of the night? If Nursson wasn't up, someone would be. And she was stressed. All of Guslantis' stress was on her.

Alfred Nursson, however, was up. The old man always stayed up until around 1:00 AM, as he loved to read. He was reading The Catcher in the Rye in the bedrooms of his grandiose Executive Apartment when Mikita called. Reaching toward the phone, he noticed the caller ID was from Guslantis. "Guslantis?" he thought. "What could be going on that they would need to call me in the middle of the night?" Nevertheless, he picked up the phone. "Hello?" he softly spoke into the phone.

When Nursson picked up, Mikita went blank. What was she going to say? Hey Mr. Nursson, I'm stressed and I'm going to wake you up and talk about it! No. That would not be right. "Hello Mr. Nursson, I hope I didn't wake you. I'm Governor Mikita Nowe, Governor of Pigletville," she began. "If you did not know, Rhuvanland is in war with Nebula, and well, I don't know how to handle it. Hunter packed up with the Cabinet and headed of to-", whoops, he didn't need to know where the bunker was. "-the Cabinet bunker, and I'm stuck in charge with Akerman and Hall, who are very, very pro-war, but we are a member of NPTO. We don't want war, we want peace...," she sat down on a bench in one of the Squares, and began to cry. "I-I, what do I do?", she asked in tears.

"The tensions between Rhuvanland and Nebula are personal." Alfred said calmly. "The best you can do to keep peace is to attempt to keep the conflict local. If it gets too heated, the world could be plunged into war." Nursson paused. "And if you still are unsure of what to do, think about your people instead of an organization. NPTO will endure. Focus on what is best for Guslantis."

"Almost there." Queen Diana quietly muttered to herself, she had sent out a large fleet of ships and roughly 200 smaller planes the very moment the war had begun but now it had arrived, at the Western Coast of Rhuvanland. The Cronaal army wasn't there to help Rhuvanland though, nor was it there to help Nebula, Diana had gone mad with Eden's death. She couldn't handle the endless apologies from those who had no involvement, she couldn't handle the wasted gift given to her, no no, no more. She couldn't handle the death of her greatest friend, it made her ant to destroy and burn the world in vengeance, see them suffer and cry and burn and, and... Diana breathed heavily for a few moments and then looked up, into the glaring sun as a small, crystalline-like tear dropped from her eye and slowly, painfully edged down her curvaceous cheek , down to her neck which bore a necklace, the one Eden had given her many years prior, as a coronation gift. Since Eden's death, Diana felt nobody but her own could be trusted resulting in Diana having an incessant hate for them all, Guslantis, Nebula, Syrixia. She wished all of their cities to burn to the ground in endless flames and ash as her soldiers murdered their people. She'd gone insane but nobody could see.

Meanwhile, at the fleet, General Adrian Grove headed the large amount of warships, roughly 7, the air carrier and uncountable amount of smaller vessels. As a younger man, Adrian had fought in the Aquaetus Channel Skirmishes which involved naval disagreement between Cronaal and the small amount of nations below it, those were just simple battle though. This war, he knew, was to escalate into something match bigger, something nobody could keep back and ignore, it would effect every person in the region and destroy nations. Adrian expected stupidity to take over the leaders around and start a Regional War, the war to end all wars. Diana was there to stop that though, it would be the war to show the superiority of Cronaal and the mourn Eden Hall.
"Anchors men! Anchors in 10!" Adrian shouted, they were approaching the first of the Rhuvish coastal cities, the ones they were going to senselessly destroy and burn, they were simply pawns of Diana.

The Wolvesh spy satellites had been observing the battle, Sebt glared at the monitor "they've used what?!" he exclaimed, his rage written across his face. This was beyond the pale as far as he was concerned, the Wolvesh hated WMDs, their nuclear arsenal, built by his father, was now purely for MAD purposes, favouring the more accurate Heliocannon satellite as their preferred superweapon. He turned to Goltah, his anger obvious "Enough is enough... prepare the 1st Fleet... make sure the Hyperion has extra coolant tanks filled and load my plane onto the Keres, we're going to put an end to this..." he snarled before starting a videoconference trying to get hold of the Syrixian and Guslant governments.

The bloody naval battle raged on. Both sides were taking heavy losses, but the Nebulans had it worse.

Finally, the order came down: "All ships withdraw!"
However, before the ships left, they dropped hundreds of naval mines and depth charges.

Meanwhile, a fleet of helicopters and transport aircraft headed for Rhuvanland. They landed behind Nebulan lines. Reinforcements had arrived. The Nebulan soldiers dug in on the edges of forests, building concrete structures, setting up ground to air missile stations, preparing artillery. Many of the aircraft that had been on the carriers came as well, to help support the land campaign.

Having taken successful countermeasures against Nebulan tactics, the casualties for die Kaiserliche Marine were far less. The Rhuvish Navy, however, had suffered under the blows of the technology advanced Nebulan fleet. Nonetheless, the sailors on both sides cheered as the Nebulan fleet withdrew in defeat. "Hoch lebe Kannex! Hoch lebel Rhuvanland!" came the Germanic cheer from both sides. The Kannexan submarines continued to damage the Nebulan fleet as they withdrew. The Nebulans had no particular strategy in withdrawing; they were vulnerable as they set up mines and depth charges. Submarines torpedoed the retreating Nebulan ships, then sunk back into the depths of the ocean. But the High Command ordered the Jang Fleet not to pursue. Admiral Jang obeyed.

Minesweepers cleared the mines. With the Nebulan naval withdrawal, the Nebulan troops on ground were now truly isolated. Kannexans and Rhuvish now held naval supremacy in the waters around the Federal Republic. Now that the Nebulan fleet was gone, the Kannexan Jang Fleet now threw their thunderstorm of missiles into the Nebulan positions on land. Missiles rained down on bunkers and buildings, destroying Nebulan tanks and parked aircraft. Helicopters and fixed-wing drones from the Kannexan aircraft carriers mercilessly hunted down Nebulan aircraft. Now that the Nebulan fleet was gone, the Kannexans held aerial dominance as well. Pelhafor was north of Rhuvanland and intercepted several Nebulan planes, while the aircraft on Kannexan carriers also hammered Nebulan positions.

The fleet, instead of returning to Nebula, took up positions around Pelhafor, bombarding naval bases and supply railroads.

The already damaged Nebulan fleet found itself under attack by fresh Pelhaforan forces. From bases all over Pelhafor, guided missiles launched and struck the Nebulan fleet. The Pelhaforans launched aircraft to fight the invaders. The Nebulan fleet could not even get into Pelhaforan waters -- the Pelhaforan sonar had picked them up. Submarines wrecked the Nebulan formation as naval mines were laid in front of the Nebulan fleet. A Kannexan aircraft carrier had already been stationed in Pelhafor in response to the religious tensions in the protectorate, and now this aircraft carrier sent drones and planes to hack away what was left of the Nebulan fleet.

In the Pelhaforan Senate, the most loyal and outspoken happened to be the National Party. With war against Pelhafor, the National Party rallied to the Imperial cause. They knew to do otherwise would be political suicide. Pelhaforan men mobilized.

The Environmentalist Utopia of Hiskjriaana wishes to stay neutral in this conflict but will not hesitate to attack either side if the Hiskjriaanii homeland is attacked.

(OOC: is there a map of where the fighting is?)

(OOC: Remember there are no denonyms and stuff for Cronaal, a person is literally Cronaal in their minds, e.g. This is Cronaal Architecture or He was Cronaal.)

"Fire!" Adrian Grove commanded, the few war ships had lined up in a small row and began firing at the first coastal city they approached on the Southern Coast of Rhuvanland, it was their Queen's command. Planes began, slowly, lifting off from the Air Carrier that was also brought by the Cronaal Army and began to fly over the city. It was small, insignificant city which was severely undefended as all the forces had seemingly gone North to fight the Nebulans. It was perfect. Fighter jets circled the city, looking for resistance as the black, colossal warships loomed over the city port as the people within cried their souls away whilst the buildings around them crumbled and fell onto their bodies, their weak, puny bodies. Their bones cracked and broke, blood poured from their corpses whilst their throats gurgled and bled, a scen Diana would've personally watched if she could. Her insanity grew.

"General, how can you stand to kill these innocents." A crew-member inquired,
"They are not innocent, the Rhuvan's are filthy, ravenous animals. They murdered members of our government, do you not see in Diana's vision!" Adrian answered, growing ever more angry, wishing the makeshift propaganda would take it's psychological effect faster.
"Are you assuming things from the Orde-" Adrian threw the crew-member overboard.

The Rhuvish city of Kazadia found itself under fire not by Nebulans, but the Cronaal Navy. The garrison there contacted High Command, then the Cronaals. "This is Captain Johann Septer of the Federal Republic of Rhuvanland. You are ordered to cease hostilities against Kazadia. I say again, you are ordered to cease hostilities Kazadia. We are friendlies. Over." Word of the attack reached Rhuvish High Command and the Jang Fleet.

Meanwhile, to the east, Kannexan transport ships escorted by the Jang Fleet had begun landing Imperial Marines, seizing major ports in Rhuvanland and driving off the Nebulan troops. This followed raids by helicopters and heavy bombings of Nebulan positions.

Adrian was ready to answer.
"No. We are not fighting for either side, we are fighting for ourselves. Nobody in this damned region is sane enough to see that Diana is correct, you are all vile scum. You have all destroyed the sanctity of Cronaal, corrupting and burning. Murdering our government, murdering each other. We will destroy every city, one by one." He replied, he was not ready to cease fire, he was ready to destroy Nebula, Kannex and Rhuvanland. He hated them all, he wished them all dead. He wished blood to ooze out of their broken, defiled throats with knives forced into their eyes whilst their naked, deformed corpse was being burnt in front of their families, Adrian had sworn himself to his Queen, he would follow her lead, her rule, any command. He laughed slightly at the thought of this, it pleased him and he loved it. Adrian was chosen by Diana because he was a sadistic monster whom would never give up, he would fight until he lost all his limbs and his blood.

Meanwhile in Smith's Palace, Diana was alone in a small, square-shaped room made of grey bricks with sound proofing behind them with a man who was gagged with lashed and cuts all over his body, it was the Syrixian Ambassador from the nearby Embassy. Diana proceeded to kick him forcefully in his eye socket with her foot, she was wearing high-heels and was torturing the poor man senselessly for no reason other than amusement of seeing a Syrixian squirm. Eden's death and her blame on Syrixian had changed her.

We believe, as Cronaal is a Helmebaine Alliance member and one of our good allies, that this fleet sent to attack Rhuvanland is led by a rogue admiral. Parliament has authorized military action against this rogue force.

(Just a foreword before you all jump on me: Remember, Syrixia is so far only authorized to take out the Cronaal fleet at Rhuvanland. They have not fully entered the war yet, not until they find out that Cronaal's gone nuts.)

Syrixia had a renowned army, feared by many. Their nuclear arsenal was kept well-hidden, but it was the region's largest. In addition, Syrixia had remote-control dual-purpose satellites orbiting around Eve. They were designed to have tungsten rods inside a cavity within the satellites for usage in worst-case scenarios, however they doubled as communications and observation satellites, so that they would at least be used in one way or another at some point. Syrixia also had around one million soldiers in its combined armed forces, one of the region's largest armies; if not THE largest army. The Air Force was quick and deadly, the Navy was feared and extremely powerful, and the army could charge through anything with a large enough force, destroying the enemy and claiming victory easily. This great power was now going to be partially unleashed on the "rogue" Cronaal fleet.

It was now 12:00 PM, and a large combined force of 100,000 ground troops, two aircraft carriers, three destroyers, one dreadnought, three Air Force Squadrons, and 1,000 paratroopers were now being deployed. The "rogue" Cronaal fleet was now utterly surrounded. Newly promoted Commodore and military fan favorite Aqoz Gundersen had been chosen to lead the Navy in this mission, while the Air Force continued to bomb Cronaal troopers on land and the army picking off the rest. The Syrixian Navy was in charge now, and unless the "rogue" Cronaal fleet stood down there would be more fighting. Gundersen picked up a megaphone and announced it loud and clear: "Maksul! This is Commodore Aqoz Gundersen, Syrixian Navy! Your fleet is hereby ordered to stand down and go back to whence you came before you kill any more innocent people. Failure to comply means utter destruction!"

In Pigletville, Governor Nowe walked into the GusNet Control Room inside the Thomas Building. "The Wolvesh leader would like to speak with you, Madam Governor," said Burns as she touched a portion of the huge monitor, which in turn changed the screen to show the video transmission request. "Patch them through," she ordered. The governor stood in front of the monitor, and was quickly joined by General Akerman. As soon as the leader was patched through, Sebt's angry face took up most of the monitor. Nowe knew this face. This was the face any Guslant general would give to you if they were mad at you. Really mad at you. She watched her words carefully, knowing she could make him angrier. "I see this war has affected more than just the combatants," she began, placing her hands together behind her back. "I presume that you have a reason for contacting us, and I actually don't have a clue why. While we don't consider our diplomatic relations with Wolfsea to be as strong as I would like, I will give you my ear and judgement in whatever you would need. I would offer up a diplomat, but most are in our Cabinet bunker. All I have left is the local Pigletville guards, General Akerman, and Minister Hall," she explained. "In short, she'll talk to you," Akerman cut in, keeping the governor short. "Yes, yes, thank you Emily," she stated before looking to Sebt.

Meanwhile, in Balamb, the SyrNet had notified Prime Minister Nursson that the Wolvish wanted to contact them as well. Before Sebt could respond to the Guslants, the Prime Minister and his whole Cabinet were connected to the GusNet channels, as that was a special feature programmed in. The entire Cabinet was seated at their small table in a regal conference room to the left of the Chamber of the Parliament, ready for the conference. "Your Majesty," said the Deputy Prime Minister to the Wolfish Khan. "The Prime Minister and I received your invitation and got here as quickly as possible with the Cabinet in tow. I trust we did not miss anything?"

Hiskjriaana:
*a grey, unmarked U-2R flies overhead, high enough so it is invisible to the human eye*
... But not to two of the three Sadakhan spy satellites reassigned to keep track of and record the events transpiring below. Or to one plucky and particularly alert field team on the ground near the fighting filming a doco about the conflict, who happened to have their detection equipment looking skyward at the right place at the right time.

The labs responsible for the satellites passed the information on to the Department of Defense Technologies, which activated assets in the Hiskjriaana capital and in their armed forces to obtain if possible the data from the flight, as well as to continue closely monitoring Hiskjriaana policy discussions regarding the war.

In the Rhuven refugee camp, on the tiny island outside Academy city, dispossessed millionaires stared longingly at the lights of the massive city of more that 3 million people. Seemingly integrated into the hills and the coastline, the megapolis was partly a cluster of arcologies, partly a wondrous hanging garden, and something like a beach resort somehow meshed with a naval base. The Rhuvens were clean, warm, and well fed, and classes were being offered to them with the citizenship exams (mostly remedial science, economics, and civics) as well as a physical conditioning program, healthy lifestyle training and mental health therapy.

Some of the refugees were trading their yachts and jets for advanced medical care for ailing hearts and livers, while others with the foresight to bring passports and detailed medical histories (especially vaccination records) arranged to have their banks wire funds to convert their status to resort vacationer. Those with less foresight or less optimism about having a home to return to remained in the spare, efficient housing the Sadakhan had provided.

A rumor began circulating among them that their hosts were offering opportunities to do some service for Sadakoyama in exchange for a certain leniency of the testing requirements for provisional citizenship, and the most unhappy and desperate of the former elite began to seek out the source of these rumors.

(OOC: Nobody knows the U2 is from Hiskjriaana, it's unmarked. It could be from Nebula or Rhuvenland for all anybody knows.)

Sebt nodded offscreen to a technician to confirm they were patched through "Madam Governor, Prime Minister Nursson, I apologise for the call at this late hour however I believe you're aware of the situation with the Nebulan fleet..." Before bringing up the spysat photos "Sulfur Dichloride, I didn't know the Nebulans would... We've prepared dispersal devices with neutralising agents. I know this is not officially sanctioned by the NPTO but I am mobilising the 1st fleet to render assistance in the area." he sighed "I am transmitting to you both the communications ciphers for the Hyperion's Command Centre, I will be leading my forces personally. I give you both my word we will not fire upon any Helmbaine Alliance vessel unless in self-defence." he concluded, standing up fully "I hope we will be able to resolve this conflict swiftly."

"Excellent." said the Prime Minister. "With two of the North Pacific's largest armies on the scene things will surely return to order."

"And who would you be referring to, Prime Minister Nursson?", Nowe asked in confusion.

"Syrixia's and Wolfsea's armies." said the Prime Minister. "I would add yours but I was hoping you could try a different way of intervention. I'm sure you know of the Guslant Gold?"

Hiskjriaana:
(OOC: Nobody knows the U2 is from Hiskjriaana, it's unmarked. It could be from Nebula or Rhuvenland for all anybody knows.)
(OOC: There are all kinds of ways of knowing where an aircraft is from besides just markings. :))

Sebt nodded "If you desire you are welcome to send representatives to inspect the dispersal systems prior to their use once the fleet is in position."
