Rhuvanland OOC

Alright, well be sure to post. Hopefully this Nebulan invasion can lead to the final defeat of the Emperator and victory for democracy.

I was thinking after the coup or revolution or whatever, Nebula could become a sort of western-style democracy, and be less militaristic and corrupt.

Your choice as to how the coup goes, though; but I think it's a good suggestion.

We will remain the suspicious, cynical people that we are, but we will do our best to stop actively being a pain in the arse of everyone south of us.

About time my actual nation Kannex comes into play. Also about time the brigade falters... I haven't heard of any battles in cities where there are overpasses, but I think when you trap yourself on one, there's not much protection from the air. The light tanks don't seem to offer much protection from enemy fire in the first place.

By the way, I'm not actually fluent in German. RPing Kannex is my way of practicing and learning.

For what, exactly? It's not as if West Rhuvish forces are giving no quarter. The brigade troops are free to surrender.

With all due respect, it appears to Nebula and East Rhuvanland (I know this from an earlier post by Syrixia) that West Rhuvanland is little better than a brutal military state reminiscent of Duvalier's Haiti (only in this case the leader is merely brutal, not crazy).

Nebula is not. All the footage that the cameramen are taking is going to be released, and pictures published. The West Rhuvish government is going to look very bad, very soon.

You forget that this is a military invasion. A sovereign state's very own existence is threatened by foreign forces, straight at its heart -- its capital. The actions of West Rhuvan are nothing more than those of a people fighting for its very survival. Martial law, my friends, is not something new. Our United States has the same mechanism for emergencies. And this is very much an emergency.

So condemn, if you dare. It's not like Nebula's name doesn't appear in all those soldiers' bodies. A sovereign state just funded an attempted coup in another sovereign state.

And the protesters? Please remember that most of the fighting has taken place within 20 blocks. The rest is just rioters, which West Rhuvanland is shooting on sight.

The Rhuvish response to the anti-brutality protesters will create huge amounts of international attention. It is quite likely that even if the Rhuvish government refrains from the use of violence for the time being, the protest will eventually have to go.

You're joking. When the capital is attacked, no matter where, that is a serious matter. Now, I'm sure you're aware of what martial law is.

And rioters are to be shot on sight, not protesters. Such orders have been issued before, especially after earthquakes.

The monopoly on the use of legitimate force is how all states survive. And this, no doubt, is legitimate force.

Could you guys just respond to the offer of a peace conference?

#eastrhuv

#giveapeaceachance

Syrixia, what a peace conference is at this point is if a robber broke into your house, struck your mother, beat your father, and when you beat the robber senseless the concerned neighbor comes in and says, "Hey, why don't we all just get along?"

We refuse to meet your demands and intend to withdraw recognition of Heidi Rhein as the ruler of West Rhuvanland.

Hey, should I create a new thread for the conference or should we just have it in the old thread?

Also, can you guys make suggestions and contribute to the conference? :P

It's only discussion, old thread!

I have a fairly small window in which I can post; weekday afternoons and evenings, Sunday late afternoons.

I think this would fit better here. So lemme get this straight, Kannex. You're endorsing a mandate that gives the Rhuvish less freedom of choice? I hope you realize Rhuvanland has only one major city and that's Dunorion. I should also note that the Presidential elections will not be restricted between east and west in the future, and that they should not be now. This would be a good symbol of union. And also just generally nicer and more free. And more practical.

So yeah, what's the deal?

I'm endorsing a mandate that will protect the sizable minority from the tyrannical majority. Democracy isn't about the 51% ruling over the other 49%. The mixed-member proportion system is a safeguard against this, and there needs to be more. A power-sharing agreement must be made to bring forth confidence in a unified Rhuvanland from both sides. The monopoly of power by the East must be broken. This would truly make Rhuvanland free.

Well besides Dunorion which is in the south-central region of Rhuvanland there are no other large metropolises in the country. So I think it's safe to say we have our capital.

Now concerning the government, I have an idea. If the first Chancellor is an Easterner the first President can be a Westerner.

The capital needn't be a metropolis. Pakistan has its capital in Islamabad, not Karachi.

In fact, the location of Dunorion on the coast makes it more vulnerable to attack.

Perhaps a new capital could be built in the center of Rhuvanland? It could be called Bundesstadt, which literally means Federal City.

Also, do you like the Chancellor-President East-West idea?

:agree:

Any other name proposals than Bundesstadt? Aesthetically I'd prefer something fancier.
