HuAt for Justice

I think the people of this great region need to speak up. A small group of users have concentrated too much power, I think it's time for a change. I am a new member, joined in July. Although I am a newer member I believe I have what it takes to do this job. I want everyone to be treated fairly under the laws and it concerns me that that is not always the case. I have been an AAG for a short time but have already had ton undertake a complaint completely alone. I am a new face and a fresh option for our great Region. Vote HuAt for justice.

Do I have too much power, and if so, what should I do about it to further the cause of equality and democracy?

Who do believe has been treated unfairly under the laws of the region? Who do you believe has been given a free pass for breaking the law?

Do you agree with JhonsJoe's assessment that members of the oligarchy commit election fraud he said that they quote: "cast fake votes and insist that people vote for them for false reasons, and when citizens try to file complaints against them, the complaints go straight into the hands of people that stand by this "oligarchy".
Do you believe this has happened? Give some examples.

No one person in the region has too much power, I just believe it is time that a fresher generation steps up and takes the reigns.

Allowing younger fresher users to serve directly under you to get experience and to campaign for the candidates that have afresh outlook on the region would be two great places to start.

No Mcm, I do not believe I do not believe that fake votes have been cast in elections by the "oligarchy" or by anyone for that matter

I've been playing since late 2011, joined the forum in early 2012. I was elected Delegate within the year. Malvad is another example of a newish player who is currently serving in cabinet, PaulWall was Attorney General, COE was elected Speaker within a matter of weeks of being in the region. New people do take up the reigns on a regular basis.

Some of our old players like Flemingovia, Grossechnauzer, FEC, Romanoffia, Great Bights Mum (the list goes on) are very supportive of new players running for electoral office and do not stand in the way of that.

All Delegates (since I joined the game at least) have made a big point of promoting newer people and getting more senior members to help mentor them and support them in the development of their career. Do you believe that all of what I just said is wrong, or that it does not happen?

I do not believe you are wrong and I do not believe that no new players get elected. I mean to say that new users as a whole need to really make their voices heard and run for offices and that the older users still hold office but also advise the new members without trying to be overbearing.

Thank you for your answers. Sorry to fire the questions at you so quickly :fish:

No, thank you for being interested in the election. I wish the majority of the RL USA were that involved.

Well, since the 'Oli'-garchy is sometimes referred to as the 'Elu'-garchy, you tell us. The best way to further the cause of equality and democracy is to want to further the cause of equality and democracy.

Welcome to the race HuAt. :)

No one person in the region has too much power,

I see a certain contradiction in these statements. For a small group of individuals to have too much power, perforce individuals in that group would have to have too much power, since the mechanics of our region vest power in the individual.

So would you care to elaborate and particularly say who you believe constitutes this "small group of users" who need to hand over the reins?

By the was, good luck. It is nice to see decent names on the ballot paper.

I think you're probably quite a capable candidate, despite the demands of the office of Justice. Full support.

Like what has already been said by others - I think you are competent enough to serve as Justice and to do a good job. I just hope that you aren't pulled too much into this oligarchy concept. I think people are happy to scream "oligarchy" and point at it, but are unwilling to name the people who they think are misapplying the law or allegedly cheating in elections.

Good luck Huat.

I don't believe in the oligarchy. I would like to say that i agree with PaulWall in his new thread, the veterans,i feel, can unintentionally band together in elections or create the"incumbent effect" because of the amount of time they have spent as a user. I do not think that they are bad people or that they hasn't a secret agenda, i just feel like it is time for a number of new users to begin to take office.

You have made this real interresting for me. There is now 5 out of the 6 candidates I would likely support as Justice..but sadly I can only vote for 3 :( I need to think real hard about 2 I would weed out.

Hang on. HANG. ON.

Are you saying that Eluvatar is anti-democracy? ELUVATAR?! Are we talking about the same person? Cause I'm talking about the one who suggested once, and still supports, a system of electing the delegate where every nation in The North Pacific gets a vote.

This oligarchy theory has officially become absolutely nucking futs.

Can we talk about the Eluvatar who, when he was delegate, instituted a completely voluntary system of electing cabinet officials, and then actually appointed them?

A system, I might add, which involved preference ranking and not simple up-down voting in order to avoid voters losing all of their say just because their top choice wasn't a winner?

A system which frequently put some of the same people crying now about an oligarchy into power?

I tease the crap out of that Eluvatar and I disagree with him all the time, but the idea that he's anti-democracy in any way is... utterly baffling.

Again Flem i do not believe in the Oligarchy, i do believe that sooner users have unintetionally become the leaders of the region. I do not believe in the theories of what the "oligarchy" did, partially because i don't think very many users would be capable of that, and because the oligarchy doesn't exist.

Based on HuAt's clarifications I understand his position at this point, and it is a very understandable one. Thank you for answering the various questions you have faced, HuAt.

It's often difficult to support the inclusion of people who, being new to the region, know less about it than you do, but it's the only way to be inclusive and, in the long run, the only way the regional community can survive. It's something that does bear repeating and, and we definitely should be willing to support people who are willing and able to learn in taking positions in our government.

Unless something changes my mind, I expect I will be quite comfortable voting for HuAt.
