You win! :clap: Did I really post a fantasy pier? I thought it looked too good to be true. The other pics all showed a pier falling into the sea. :lol:
 
There are two piers at the moment the one in that picture and the one falling into the sea, they've been fighting over saving the second one for at least 10 yrs.....looks like their letting it fall into the sea then replacing it with a new monstrosity....

It is not Crypta Balbi, Necropolis, San Clementa, Domus Aurea, Mamertine Prison,... :headbang:

Damn! Forgot this thread until GBM nudged me. You are all close, but not close enough. You were in the Cloaca Maxima, the main sewer of Rome, dating from Roman times.
