I just recalled something I read that suggested bland food and drink was one of the factors that led to the British Empire. If the UK had a domestic supply in tea and spices, there would have been no need to expand into territories that possessed these commodities.
 
I justed wanted to say that my statement would have been considerably less amusing (to me at least) if I had used anything else but spotted dick.

I just want to let Blackshear know that the fact the British boil everything, and the fact it rains constantly here are connected.
 
I just wonder if the connection is that they're both British stereotypes constantly brought up by uneducated foreigners.
