Commend Tinhampton/big]
Category: Commendation | Target: Tinhampton
Proposed by: Thousand Branches | Onsite Topic
Note: Only votes from TNP WA nations, NPA personnel, and those on NPA deployments will be counted. If you do not meet these requirements, please add (non-WA) or something of that effect to your vote. If you are on an NPA deployment without being formally registered as an NPA member, name your deployed nation in your vote.Lauding the great and ever-nonsensical land of Tinhampton, whose intellectuals, archivists, often-mediocre sports players, political machinists, and assorted nerds have woven their way into the long history of NationStates,
Boggling at the endlessly complex tangle of Tinhamptonian politics, government, and culture (often to the point of obscurity), including their stay in over a dozen regions as a delegate to the World Assembly, most recently in the newly founded Aeternum,
Noting Tinhampton’s work in Aeternum, where, after a raid on Sophia, the region they’d been the leader and political center of for several years, they kept their many citizens united under one banner, facing the adversity head-on and emerging with a community still just as vibrant,
Feeling ever-safer under the nation’s watchful eye, which has maintained surveillance of NationStates’ most influential spaces for many years, often being the first to deliver news of ground-breaking events and voting turnouts, ensuring a more well-informed populace across NationStates,
Expressly touching on the perpetual tenacity of the Tinhamptonian football team, the Miners, who — despite battling with mediocrity, disappointing seasons, and a long, strained relationship with tie-breakers over their many seasons of play — finally achieved victory in a major tournament, 2018’s Cup of Harmony 73, due to an influx of young talent throughout the roster and an exceptional defensive performance across the team’s miraculous run,
Knowing that any commendation of Tinhampton is incomplete, or rather has hardly begun, without first mentioning their contributions to the World Assembly:
Hailing first Tinhampton’s effort in the General Assembly, where the nation’s delegation has passed a shocking nineteen resolutions over the years, including:
- The effort to repeal and replace GA#437: Ban on Conversion Therapy, in order to shore up the resolution’s weaknesses regarding a practice that was subsequently outlawed in all forms in GA#559: End Conversion Therapy, a major step forward for the safety of LGBTQIA+ populations,
- The repeal of GA#179: Clean Prostitute Act, an outdated resolution that failed to properly mitigate the spread of STIs among sex workers, and in many cases ruined the livelihoods of said workers by forcing them to abstain from work when such precautions were unnecessary,
- GA#578: Transgender Self Determination, which solidified transgender individuals’ universal right to determine their own gender, as well as to be treated as their preferred gender by members of WA states,
Exalting Tinhampton’s history in the Security Council, which, while often dwarfed by their jaw-dropping work in the General Assembly’s chambers, is similarly commendable — having passed a whopping eight resolutions, including:
- Their commendations of Cassadaigua, Nephara, and Alasdair I Frosticus, who, despite being perennial opponents of Tinhampton on the football field, deserved accolades for their nation’s athletic ability and contribution to the ever-growing world of NS sports,
- Their commendation of the think-tanks of Sacara, whose work in drafting policy papers for the populations of NationStates, as well as aiding others in their own drafting processes, has been heavily beneficial for informed decision-making across NationStates,
Taking into account the additional thirteen resolutions that Tinhampton has co-authored, aiding other authors in their attempts to make their mark on this august body, including GA#597, which tackles the issue of domestic abuse; and SC#415, which honored a longtime cultural powerhouse and contributor across NationStates,
Knowing that, despite these already-impressive numbers, at least 60 Tinhamptonian resolutions have gone to vote over the nation’s 7 years writing proposals, with many more still in the drafting process, and that, regardless of whether or not any individual resolution passed, each one stands out as a well written and well researched work,
Remembering Tinhampton’s work in archiving the Security Council’s many failed resolutions, which remains a key resource in the production of future resolutions, especially for new authors,
Recalling Tinhampton’s additional work drafting two policy papers of their own, the former (co-authored with Turbeaux) concerning intravenous needle sterilization programs, and the latter concerning religious funding, both of which remain a topic of vitriolic debate among member nations,
Realizing that, despite the multitude of opinions on Tinhampton, of all shades and colors, the work they have put into the betterment of both the World Assembly and NationStates as a whole is entirely undeniable, and
Believing that, after nearly a decade, such a nation deserves permanent acclaim for their accomplishments,
The Security Council hereby commends Tinhampton.
