Repeal: “Promotion of Bee-keeping”
Category: Repeal | GA #224
Proposed by: Fachumonn | Onsite Topic
Replacement: < None >

General Assembly Resolution #224 “Promotion of Bee-keeping” (Category: Free Trade; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

The General Assembly,

Acknowledging the noble intentions of GA#224 "Promotion of Bee-Keeping", which sought to protect and promote bees through World Assembly law, however

Understanding that the vast majority of the resolution’s legislation is non-binding, simply meaning that member-states do not have to follow its restrictions, including the resolutions’ handling of pesticide prevention, and therefore the resolution is already ineffective as it stands,

Noting that the resolution is rendered largely unnecessary by the following:

  1. The conventions on trade and tariffs, the only binding requirements in the target, are redundant with other resolutions such as GA#403 “Trade of Endangered Organisms”, which establishes thorough legislation on the trade of endangered organisms, and GA#531 “Tariffs and Trade Convention”, which sets detailed standards regarding trade and tariff standards as a whole,

  2. The protection and promotion of all potential at-threat or endangered species has been thoroughly covered by resolutions such as GA#465 “Preventing Species Extinction” and GA#662 “Public Endangered Species Table”, which attempt to prevent the extinction of all species, not just bees, and otherwise promote them when able,

Believing that focusing specifically on just bees is not efficient legislation in the slightest, especially when the resolution's tangible effects are essentially redundant, and that almost all of the important or arguably worthwhile legislation in the resolution is entirely optional,

Observing that, regardless of the merits of this legislation, promoting bee-keeping is not an international issue, and would be better handled by national governments, which would be able to actually promote this activity effectively,

Finding then, that this resolution is at the very least expendable bureaucracy, and as such is counterproductive to the mission of the General Assembly, and thus

Hereby Repeals GA#224 “Promotion of Bee-Keeping”.

Sorry Fachu, but this is one of those that I think are worth keeping for cultural reasons.
