Repeal "Preventing Employment Discrimination"
Category: Repeal | GA#779
Proposed by: Bananaistan | Onsite Topic
Replacement: None

The World Assembly

Noting that some matters are best addressed by domestic legislation whereas on other matters, international co-operation via the World Assembly is desirous,

Arguing that the complexities of the prevention of discrimination in employment is one such matter best addressed domestically as it is highly improbable that a member state’s decisions on such matters have any impact whatsoever on other member states,

Hereby repeals GAR#779 "Preventing Employment Discrimination".
Note: Only votes from TNP WA nations, NPA personnel, and those on NPA deployments will be counted. If you do not meet these requirements, please add (non-WA) or something of that effect to your vote. If you are on an NPA deployment without being formally registered as an NPA member, name your deployed nation in your vote.

Voting Instructions:
  • Vote For if you want the Delegate to vote For the resolution.
  • Vote Against if you want the Delegate to vote Against the resolution.
  • Vote Abstain if you want the Delegate to abstain from voting on this resolution.
  • Vote Present if you are personally abstaining from this vote.
Detailed opinions with your vote are appreciated and encouraged!

Information For Voters

Vote FOR Repeal “Preventing Employment Discrimination”.

Overview
The proposal simply argues that this is not a matter for international legislation, and is better handled by national governments who would be better able to handle this matter.

Recommendation
This repeal, while short, makes a good case. Preventing Employment Discrimination is a very hard topic to legislate internationally, and as a result national legislation would be much more effective. In addition, the repeal has other flaws, and whilst not detailed in the repeal, a repeal is overall a positive step.

Therefore, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote FOR Repeal “Preventing Employment Discrimination”.

Against. This is absolute cinema as a meme but unfortunately I have higher standards for repeals.

Reap what you sow. The ruling invites just this situation and it should be demonstrated. We cling to institutions and norms that no longer have any value where it counts, and the levers of power are used by the actors wielding them to win their battles. We need not tie our hands behind our backs and pretend to be better, because that won’t make up for what is happening.

Honestly not sure what point you're actually trying to make here.

I'm Against, and I'm sure Banana wouldn't be too sad to see it defeated at vote
