The World Assembly,

Recognizing that many Member-States utilize conscription or coercive military recruitment mechanisms,

Appalled that this clear gap in forced labor provisions has thus-far been allowed to stand,

Hereby;

Defines Forced Service as any law, policy, or other legal mechanism that compels, coerces, or otherwise requires military service, whether in combat or non-combat roles, or which punishes rejection of such service,

Prohibits Member-States from establishing or continuing any Forced Service mechanisms,

Mandates that any and all military personnel who are victims of Forced Service by a Member-State be offered honorable, non-punitive discharge at the earliest opportunity.

Overview
This resolution imposes a blanket ban on "forced service", defined in this resolution as any law that requires military service, whether in combat or non-combat roles, or which punishes rejection of such service. The resolution goes further than the existing resolution at hand, GAR#660, "Protecting Objectors In Combative Military Service" in ruling out non-combat roles altogether.

Recommendation
We note that the resolution goes significantly further than GAR#660 in banning nations from forcing anyone to participate in non-combat roles as well as combat roles. Although we agree that forcing reluctant soldiers onto frontlines may be a bad idea in the first place in terms of morale, exempting objectors from non-combat roles altogether may face significant pushback in terms of morale in times of national crisis.

For the above reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote Against the General Assembly resolution at vote, "Ban On Forced Service".

Against as I have repeatedly said that I don't buy the idea that someone can squat at home and play Call of Duty while your neighborhood is in flames due to an actual invading army.

Against. To improve on Simone's points, I believe that a country should have the right to conscription in times of national defense against occupation and/or genocide, and every able-bodied citizen of said country has a duty to take up arms to defend the country and everything they have.

Also because author bad and I don't like her attitude in the thread.
