Resignation
If there was one thing I learnt from all my past experiences holding a leadership position in this region, it is that sometimes the correct move is to let go. And regretfully, I would like to offer my resignation as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Back in May when I agreed to jump from my comfortable position in the Ministry of WA Affairs to a completely new environment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I did that with the impression that I was going to get the support and guidance necessary to help sail this ship. After the incidents in May, our Foreign Affairs was basically lost out in the ocean, with no sense of direction, and little idea where to go next. We acknowledged there was lots of work required to rebuild our Foreign Affairs outreach, within TNP or outside of TNP. I was very happy to follow the directions laid out by our Delegate in his campaign, be the person to help implement these ideas, and lead the ministry out of its troubles.
Alas, I don’t think I am in the position to continue as Minister any further. For this region to continue to maintain its strong presence within Gameplay, we need to continuously be proactive in doing things, looking to improve our relationship with major regions, and find new relationships to expand our reach. Foreign Affairs also cannot be done with just the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Cultural collaborations with our partners require the Ministry of Culture. Work on publications requires the Ministry of Communications. Work on the R/D sphere would require input from the Minister of Defence. But ultimately, all this requires an active Delegate. A Delegate who is continuously on their toes, organizing things within the Executive, guiding the Cabinet on the direction we should be taking with regards to our internal and external matters, and helping to synchronize these cross-ministry collaborations.
I am very grateful to all my deputies @Treekidistan @Attempted Socialism and @Bobberino for helping to provide advice for the difficult decisions we have made, and shoulder some of the hard work in the Ministry. I would also like to thank all the staffers and ambassadors we have in this Ministry for doing their work in keeping up with things in their assigned regions and around all of Gameplay. All your efforts are instrumental to helping this Ministry stay afloat, and reducing the workload of this leadership so we can put our efforts on more urgent matters.
And to whoever takes over as the next MoFA: I feel very apologetic that you have to take over the Ministry in such a position. Time continues to tick, all other regions are moving on with other things, but you would have to clear lots of backlog, talking to our partner allies (to-be), and making sure all is well internally. I hope you have a stronger will than me, to complete the things not for the sake of this Cabinet, but so that our region continues to keep her reputation and clout across Gameplay and all of Nationstates.
Yours,
Fregerson
