Vulcan XH558 St Athan

On a grey and murky day over South Wales we see Vulcan XH558 performing a final flypast over Cardiff Airport and St Athan. This was part of national farewell tour of the UK. The Saturday saw a tour of the North of the UK and Sunday the Southern part of the UK. Her final flight is still to be announced. Through public donations and lottery funding XH558 was restored to airworthy condition with the first flight taking place on 18 October 2007. In May 2015 it was announced that 2015 would be XH558's last flying season, with the three companies assisting the project with technical expertise unwilling to support the aircraft beyond 2015 meaning it would no longer have the necessary CAA approval to fly. This is partly due to the fact XH558 has already performed 10% more flying hours than any other Vulcan, and secondly, the increasing difficulty in obtaining the necessary expertise for maintenance. 10+04 - Boeing B-707-307C - Luftwaffe

Luftwaffe 10+04 pays South Wales a visit on July 25, 2007

The aircraft named, Hermann Koehl, was built in 1968 and operated until 1998.

It was then transferred to NATO as LX-N20000 - retired 2011

Koeln-Bonn Airport CGN was the home base of the B-707-fleet of the LUFTWAFFE

A. When the football cup finals were at the Millennium whilst Wembley was out of action, Chelsea reached the League Cup Final and this was him arriving to watch it.

Cheeky sod sat it over at BAMC also! Talk about taking liberties ... :lol:
