World Assembly Accelerator Program & Applications
Greetings all! The World Assembly Legislative League (WALL) is proud to announce our new expanded World Assembly Accelerator Program, a new spin on our previous Sponsorship Program and expansion of The North Pacific's World Assembly Accelerator Program. Our hope with this program is to give World Assembly authors, direct access to the resources of the WALL for feedback and at-vote support, with concrete expectations for all parties at every step of the process.
Unlike previous iterations, this time, the focus of this program is on raw concepts and preliminary drafts - nearly complete drafts and already submitted proposals will be immediately rejected. This is especially for inexperienced authors who are looking to dip their toes in WA resolution writing.
Introduction
Are you planning on submitting a proposal to the World Assembly? That's fantastic! The WALL (consisting of Balder, Europe, Europeia, International Democratic Union, and The North Pacific) would like to assist you in making your goal of passing a World Assembly resolution a reality. How can we do this? By giving you access to internal drafting support, revision, lobbying, and voting assistance through our World Assembly Accelerator Program!
Program Details | What is the Accelerator Program?
Intended to be a more comprehensive and refined iteration of the Sponsorship Program, and an expansion of the program's prior exclusivity to The North Pacific's resources, the Accelerator Program is meant for inexperienced users to understand more about writing a proposal, starting from the drafting phase to the submission phase. Applicants will apply with their proposal in the drafting phase, with two possible paths for the author to choose depending on their personal interests.
For every accepted applicant, there are 2 phases: a drafting phase (Phase 1) and a submission phase (Phase 2). All applicants apply to Phase 1 (the drafting / revision phase) with their proposal drafts. Successful completion of Phase 1 will result in a transition to Phase 2 (sponsorship / the submission phase) pending Ministerial and Delegate approval.
- Phase 1 - Revision and Feedback: Successful applicants to the Accelerator Program will be entered into Phase 1. During this phase, WALL staff / assigned mentor will carefully review your proposal idea and give you advice and suggestions on writing the proposal. We'll work closely with you to through every stage of the drafting / revising process up until your draft is ready for submission. You'll be advised through every step of the process by some of the most prominent members of the World Assembly, and have access to additional resources including experienced authors both within and outside of WALL. When your proposal is ready for submission, it will move to Phase 2 (sponsorship / submission).
- Phase 2 - Sponsorship - Submission and At-Vote Support: After your proposal is submission-ready and you've settled on a timeframe to do just that, it'll be reviewed by the heads of WALL (member region heads of state and World Assembly ministers). If the WALL leaders approve, you'll transition to this phase once your proposal is submitted. In Phase 2, your proposal will be officially sponsored, and will have access to the extensive lobbying opportunities and at-vote support that WALL can provide to help make your proposal pass. What exactly does this mean? It means campaign assistance to get your proposal to the voting floor, the approval of WALL's five Delegates, lobbying assistance, voting recommendations in favor of your proposal, a statement of support from TNP's WA Ministry, and any other support necessary to help make your resolution a reality.
For Phase 1, there are 2 pathways that you can take:
- Drafting Review & Assistance Path: This is generally for applicants who have a draft proposal ready and is in some stage of the drafting / revision phase. You will provide a draft of your proposal, and the WALL staff will carefully review your draft and give you suggestions on how to improve your proposal. This will involve some back-and-forth between the staffers and you as the author, until the staffers are largely satisfied with your draft.
- Mentorship Path: We would assign an experienced author to you, and they will work with your from the basics of proposal drafting all the way to coming out with a coherent draft. In this case, the mentor would be a full co-author to your proposal, and it is up to them to decide whether your draft is suitable for submission.
Requirements | Who's eligible?
Anyone is welcome to apply for this program. As part of the application, you would need to prepare some details of the proposal you have in mind, as well as make sure that the proposal idea you are writing is not a duplicate of the existing resolution in the General Assembly or the Security Council.
If you have a draft prepared, we encourage you to attach it to your application. This draft can be in the WALL subforum, or in a Google Doc or similar. You do not need to be a TNP or WALL member region citizen or WA resident to apply, though you're free to do so in order to get the two approvals necessary to submit your proposal.
Official sponsorship (Phase 2) requires that your proposal is ready for submission, and that it's approved by both the Minister and Delegate for sponsorship. Entry into the Accelerator Program does not guarantee sponsorship. Rushed proposals or those that are submitted carelessly will most likely be rejected.
Is there anything I should be reading while waiting for my application to be approved?
There are plentiful additional resources available for those who wish to develop their ideas further. The WALL subforum and the pinned threads in the onsite NS World Assembly subforum are great places to start.
Application Process | How do I apply?
In order to apply, simply fill out the below form and post it as a reply to this thread. Your application will be reviewed (and most likely accepted), and you'll be notified both in this thread and by forum DM within a few business days. If it has been more than five days, please bring it to the attention of the TNP Minister of World Assembly Affairs (@Fregerson). Feel free to include any additional information either as part of the form or via direct message to the sitting WA Minister, including but not limited to contact information (such as Discord ID), unusual circumstances, and if there's anything specific you'd like us to help with.
