Hello from the newish nation state of Slacker Ville, a Socialist Democracy with authoritarian leanings, where more rules and more education are always the answer.... oh and we have power armoured infantry with plasma guns and food based WMDs.... don't ask.

I'm actually de-lurking to post this as in a few weeks I'm probably going to start having enough free time to invest the odd bit of time and was having fun in nation states and was wondering what things you guys would recommend me getting involved in if I have only a couple of hours a week beyond clicking my issues to take part in things?

Well, for a comprehensive list of things you can do in our region, you can read The North Pacific Handbook (it's a dispatch) and its various links to other things.

If you're not so fond of reading, in general there's a few things you can do:
1. Apply for citizenship here. Citizenship might seem like a weird concept on a game where you play as nations, but generally within regions we play as people. So applying for citizenship will give you voting rights in our elections (including WA Delegate, the most important position) and legislative votes in Regional Assembly, as well as access to citizen-only areas on the forums.
2. Apply for the Executive Staff here, which lets you step straight into regional government and is a launching point for higher positions.
3. Apply for the North Pacific Army (NPA) here. Although you might have heard there is no war mechanic in NationStates, that's only the case for nations. For regions, you can take over regions through endorsements, and the NPA is involved in that.
4. Join the Roleplay, here on the forums, or on the Regional Message Board (RMB). This is where you can actually play out what goes on in your nation, beyond simple issue-answering.
Hope this helped you, and enjoy TNP! :tnp:

Welcome to the North!

I second the suggestion for applying for citizenship. Also join our Discord server if you haven't yet.
