Tapatalk Deletion

Hey all.

The admin team has recently been made aware of some new concerns about Tapatalk security. Specifically, there have been reported issues with admin or root admin access having been given out by Tapatalk's support team without proper verification of the identity or credentials of the person requesting the access.

Obviously this is completely unacceptable to us, particularly since we have only recently wrapped up cleanup efforts from the previous security breach we discovered (this one involving bot scraper accounts being given access to all areas of the forum, and that access being quietly reinstated by Tapatalk through a back door after it was taken away).

As a result, effective immediately, we are deleting all user posts from Old Brutal. User accounts will be next, in order to properly wipe our users' data and ensure Tapatalk cannot sell it to the highest (or, let's be honest, any) bidder. We have been discussing this option for some time, but the final decision was made via emergency agreement of four admins - myself, Eluvatar, McMasterdonia, and r3n - as we judged it was not safe to wait any longer.

If you have any private messages you want to save from Tapatalk, you will need to do so manually. Please do this AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, as deletion of user accounts and data will be coming soon.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

What kind of timetable are you guys pursuing in this? Kudos for reacting to this swiftly and strongly.

How Tapatalk got so many customers and became such a strong company in the field of online forums with shitty practices like this still amazes me.
