The North Pacific Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the RolePlay Moderators are pleased to announce the 2017 Roleplay Convention to be held on the 25th of September to the 1st of October.

What is the 2017 Roleplay Convention?
The 2017 Roleplay Convention is a worldbuilding convention in which members of The North Pacific Roleplay help decide on certain aspects of the Roleplay world of Eras.

Chaired by the Lead Roleplay Moderator St George and Minister of Culture McMasterdonia, this convention will cover several major aspects of Eras that are too massive to simply be covered by groups of individual players. In addition to the Worldbuilding, their will be Discord Voice Chat Q&A sessions with the Roleplay Moderators, and out of character discussion about how Roleplay is currently run as well as suggestions for reform and improvement.

The Convention will be taking place on the North Pacific Forums as well as on Discord between September 25 and October 1, with the convention lasting for one work week.

How can I Participate?
To participate, you should join our forums and the TNPRP Discord server. The event will be open to all nations in The North Pacific who wish to participate, regardless of whether or not you currently participate in our Roleplay. The forum for the event will be made publicly available on the first day of the Convention.

Which topics will be discussed?
The convention has quite the ambitious agenda, with the items being as follows:

  • The Naming of Continents: While some nations have taken upon themselves to gather their continental brethren and name their continent, others just have too many people to gather before they can name their continent. This convention will allow us to establish, once and for all, the names that belong to each landmass.
  • Time Zones: This has been a discussed topic previously, but is an issue so massive that no group of Roleplayers has had the motivation to try and name the timezones. This convention will rectify this problem.
  • Fantasy-Realism disconnect and the Off-Map: These are two very contentious topics in TNPRP. Eras, while a world much like our own, has many fantasy elements within it, such as dragons, monsters, etc. This has come into conflict with the players who wish to only Roleplay in a realistic world. This convention will help to establish some sort of rules concerning the extent of fantasy in Eras, and also some protections for fantasy roleplayers. The Off-Map is another important topic. Introduced by the Roleplay Conclave, a sort of court of advisors who help establish realism and canon, it is the idea that there is land beyond the map. This convention will act as a sort of referendum and route to expand upon that idea for Roleplay use.
  • Language Groups: Many nations have already sought out to establish language groupings for their nations, and this convention would seek to codify what currently is, and establish groupings (with the consent of nations that wish to) for those nations that do not.
  • Basic Physical Geography, Trust Nations and much more!

Thank you for reading and we look forward to seeing you there!
