Our top story this evening, Second Vice President Antonia Navarro is on her mission across the nation, meeting with the Governors of each province and speaking to the Regional Legislatures in the 13 provinces. In a recent report, the VP stated that the meetings so far had been very successful and that she had already gained the full support of 2 Governors and their legislatures. So far, Mrs. Navarro has visited the Provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos Provinces and is currently in the Province of Córdoba meeting with Governor Jonathan Correa. In a statement released by the Vice President's Office in Rosario, Mrs. Navarro thanked the Cabinet Members who have been assisting her through video conference and by also being there. "Their support has been amazing and they have been very helpful throughout the entire rounds of summits. I especially would like to thank Secretary of Internal Affairs Valentina Marquez for her help throughout this entire process and for her diplomacy through the meetings, as well as her commitment to our nation and its people." The Vice President will continue talks Governor Correa and his Cabinet over the coming week and will address a joint session of the Assembly of Córdoba Province on Wednesday.

President Andrea Lacasa has been busy over the past couple weeks. Not only has she became a grandmother, but she has as well been meeting with leaders in the Legislature and the Cabinet to lay out the agenda of the government for the coming year. In only two weeks, President Lacasa will address the National Assembly for the third time this year, this time for the State Opening of the National Assembly, which officially begins the parliamentary year. It is believed that in her agenda, the President will set before the government the need for better education, healthcare, infrastructure, and defense for the country. Political commentator Nazaret Montes stated that she believed the President would mostly focus her speech on the need for better infrastructure across the nation, including areas such as San Luis and San Juan Provinces. "There is a huge need across the nation for better roads, better railroads, tunnels, water systems, and telecommunications. One thing I believe the President will focus on is increasing the number of railroads across the nation, especially those on the electric rail system. I also believe the President wishes to continue with the Water Project of the Cojedes 2050 Strategy, which includes building more Hydroelectric plants and better drainage systems for when storms and flooding occurs."

It is with a sad heart that we announce that Gospel Singer Rui Antonio Corazon died this morning at the age of 87 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Heravion in 1932, Rui Corazon rose to prominence in his teenage years as a person with an amazing voice who loved singing gospel. He quickly became the face of gospel music for the nation and went on to right many amazing songs, including "Jesús toma mi mano" (Jesus Hold My Hand). The President declared a National Period of Mourning, which will last until Saturday the 19th of October. A public viewing will be held in Rosario and Heravion spanning a two day period, with the funeral taking place on Friday evening in Heravion with full state honors.

Good afternoon and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Valentina Piazon and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story this afternoon, the Cojedan National Assembly voted yesterday to approve the newest member of the Cojedan Supreme Court. Earlier this year, Justice Mattias Fraga announced that he would retire after serving 25 years on the Supreme Court. Roughly a month ago, President Andrea Lacasa announced Rosario Circuit Court Justice Jeremías Cazalla as her nominee for the vacant position. After several weeks of meeting and debate, the Senate Committee on Justice approved the nominee and put it to a full vote before the Senate. The Senate, after several days of debate, voted yesterday to approve the nomination by a vote of 201-67, with all 6 life members and the 13 minority members voting in the affirmative. It was the second largest vote in favor of a member of the Supreme Court, with the largest being Chief Justice Valeria Garcia, who was appointed with all members of the Senate in favor back in 1998. Justice Cazalla will be sworn in on Monday morning and a ceremony honoring retiring Justice Mattias Fraga will be held later in the day, when it is expected he will receive the medal Hero of Cojedes for his near 55 years of service to Cojedes as a judge.

In other news, the National Council of Security and Defense will meet next week before the official budget debates for 2020 and 2021 begin. In this meeting, which will be chaired by President Andrea Lacasa for the first time, members, including the heads of all military branches, will discuss their request for additional funds in the 2020-2021 National Budget. Talking to the press earlier this week, Secretary of Defense Joel Andino said, "For years the branches of the military have not received the proper funding that they deserve. Our soldiers are still dealing with several medical issues and it is time that this issues be taken care of. We are not looking mostly for money for weapons, but money to help out of soldiers, past and present." President Andrea Lacasa said she intends to ask for an increase in military funding and will give her pitch to government and opposition leaders during the meeting and later in the week.

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Valentina Piazon and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, the Electoral Commission has officially announced the results of the Rosario Municipal Council Election which took place on 15th September. The results were verified and announced earlier this morning by Commission Chair Alejandra Artiza. In front of the people in Independence Square, Commissioner Artiza had the following to say:

"After several weeks of counting ballots and discussion, we are finally able to announce the results of the Rosario Municipal Council election. The results are as follows:

In total, 115 seats are up for grabs.

Christian Democrats of Cojedes-6 seats (5.2% or 169,728 votes)
Independents-14 seats (12.2% or 398,208 votes)
Liberal Party of Cojedes-39 (33.9% or 1,106,496 votes)
National Conservative Union-56 seats (48.7% or 1,589,568 votes)

The results here mentioned have been verified by our committee and we hereby submit them to the nation. The members of the Council may be sworn in at any given time past this date."

It was a shocking announcement to several people that the Liberal Party of Cojedes had nearly tripled in seats since the previous election, having only 10 seats during the prior session. The Independents lost 15 seats, whereas Conservatives lost their majority, originally having 81 seats in the previous Council. According to local analysts, a huge reason for the loss of seats is due to the up and coming politician David Primitivo Cambeiro, the leader of the Liberal Party in Rosario. Camberio, who won election in the more Liberal 14th Ward of Rosario, has become the youngest member of the Rosario Municipal Council at age 30. An op-ed in the Rosario Times stated that the reason for his election and popularity is that he is looking to pass what the people of Rosario want. According to the op-ed written by Abel Rouco, "Camberio is the person everyone should be looking at. He has promised to lower cost of living, increase education benefits, and help curve the rising cost of healthcare in the city. Even with all that, he has still kept to the traditional values that the people of Cojedes support, including pro-life and policies on same sex marriage that have long had some people supporting the Liberal Party." Councillor-Elect Camberio has promised to work alongside Rosario Mayor Micaela Saavedra and the National Conservative Union.

In other news, it is near time for professional hockey to begin across the nation. The Federal Hockey League will is gearing up for it first game, which is expected to take place on Friday evening in Rosario. The Rosario Stars will be playing against the Heavion Jets in the first game of the 2019-2020 season, which will see each team play 86 games for the first time, up 4 games from the previous season. The Cojedan Premier Hockey League will also begin games this weekend in Heravion and Corrientes, where the reigning Rosario Marksmen will take on the Heravion Wolves in their first meeting since the finals last year. President Andrea Lacasa has wished everyone a safe Flash Friday and reminded people all across the nation to be safe and think smart when they go out shopping.

Mariano, who was selected as a justice in 1977 by President Antonio Suarez, is the longest serving federal judge in the history of Cojedes. In several cases, her opinion has been the cause for a landmark decision, but she has also been known for her dissent in several cases. The most notable case that Mariano has ever ruled on was the 1991 case in which the Constitutional Court declared the Socialist Government of Juan David Felix Ocampo illegal and illegitimate. Mariano led the charge against the Socialist Government in 1991, and took an active role in the Cojedan Revolution in 1992. Secretary of Internal Affairs Valentina Marques has announced that she will be nominating Emanuella Mariano to receive the Order of the Blue Cross and the title Hero of Cojedes, both of which are expected to be approved by the President. Our top story this evening, one of the nation's most important mergers took place this morning when it was announced that Cavologies and Glacier Enterprises, the nation's two leading waste management companies, were becoming one. Both companies have served the nation in various functions and the merger was in the works from roughly 2016. According to the CEO of Cavologies, Brent Alvaro, "The merger was made even more difficult because of location. While Cavologies is located nationwide, Glacier Enterprises does the majority of its work in the northern part of the country. After Glacier Enterprises announced it would expand to the rest of the nation in 2015, that is when we could effectively begin working out the merger process." President Andrea Lacasa was present during the signing of the legal documents making the companies one and applauded the hard work of both companies. Our top story of the evening, Cojedans are braving the cold, the snow, and the strong winds as a low pressure front has moved across the Northern part of Cojedes. The front, stretching all the way from the Northern Shores of Cojedes to the capital city of Rosario, has affected nearly 35 million citizens throughout the entire nation. The front has been characterized by heavy snow (up to 5 feet in some areas) and heavy winds of up to 65 mph. According to a spokesperson for the Department of Health in Heravion Province, "Our hospitals have been overloaded with people who are being injured in this storm. Our medical professionals are doing the best they can under this extreme pressure in a storm that we were not expecting. Our EMT's are also working very efficiently and at their best to ensure the safety and security of all people across our province. We are urging extreme caution and are informing people not to leave their homes unless it is an emergency." It will also contain a separate region for the prevention of flood damage across the city, utilizing a system of levees and pumps that will send the water away from the city. The government proposed this idea after it was brought up in the Committee of Industry and Infrastructure as well as the Senate Committee on Emergency Situations that the capital does no have adequate protection for flooding.

Our top story this evening, a state of emergency was declared in the province of La Rioja after a bomb went off in the main capital square. At noon today, while people were filling the streets and the main city square during the afternoon rush, a bomb went off, killing roughly 200 hundred people and injuring over 500 more. Police and military forces immediately responded and discovered that the bomb had been placed only minutes before and that it had detonated prematurely. Police have discovered that the person responsible for the attack, the name of the assailant not yet being released, died in the attack. President Andrea Lacasa immediately flew to the province of La Rioja to access the situation and approved an emergency declaration to begin repairs in the city. The President also declared a week of national mourning and vowed her support. "We are living in troubling times. Our government has promised to keep the people of Cojedes safe, and unfortunately, that was impossible today. We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the families of the deceased and those in the hospital." Governor of La Rioja, Jeremías Freixa, has declared a 5 day state of emergency in the province and has vowed to take stricter measures to ensure that these attacks never happen again.

The Senate of Cojedes has officially convened to appoint a new judge to the Cojedan Constitutional Court following the retirement of Justice Emanuella Mariano. Earlier this week, President Andrea Lacasa put forth three nominations for the position that the Senate would have the right to debate on. The three nominees for the post were: Rodrigo Zoido, a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Corrientes; Vivian Rasgado, a Justice of the Rosario Constitutional Court; and, Antonia Carita, a barrister in Santa Fe Province. The Senate will spend the next three days receiving testimony from each nominee before allowing the Senate Judiciary Committee to host a three weeks of hearings, one week for each nominee. Chairman Nestor Estávez will chair the Senate Judiciary Committee for the special session, but will not have the right to vote in committee. In a poll done earlier this week, it is expected that Vivian Rasgado will be elected to serve on the Constitutional Court.

Also today, the Senate of Cojedes elected a new Vice Chairman. Former Interim President Irene Molina was elected as Deputy Chairwoman after several days of debate and a vote early this morning. The vote, which was unanimous among the members, saw the former nation's leader become the second most powerful person in the Senate, while also becoming the fifth most powerful person in politics in Cojedes. In her acceptance speech, Molina stated that she was ecstatic that the Senate had this much confidence in her and promised to serve the people of the nation who elected her to the Senate to the best of her ability. Paola Ferrant, the Leader of the Opposition of the Senate, congratulated Molina at a press conference after the vote was held. "Irene Molina is the best candidate for the job and, if I am being quite frank, she would be the next best President if she chose to run. She is a person who truly listens to the people and gets the job done."

Throughout the day, the people of the Province made their voice heard as they went to the polling precincts to determine who would be the next Governor, as well as determining the members of the Provincial Assembly. Governor Alexander Amengual ran for re-election and faced tough opponents in Xavier Pardo, the candidate for the Liberal Party, and Mia Romero, the candidate for the National Conservative Union. Even though early results predicted Amengual would lose his seat, after 7 PM the odds turned in his favor and Governor Amengual was re-elected with 54% of the population of Corrientes voting in his favor. In the Senate, the tables flipped when the National Conservative Union took control, unseating the majority Justicialist Party of Corrientes, which has yet to join the NCU. In the House of Representatives of Corrientes, the Justiticialist Party gained five seats, sealing their position as the majority party in the House. The Liberal Party gained two seats in the House, while losing three in the Senate. Governor Amengual declared victory over an hour ago, thanking the people of the Corrientes Province for their trust in him and promised to form a new coalition government in the province by the end of the month.

Also in regards to politics, the Governor of Santiago Del Estero Province, Esperanza Manzanedo announced that she would once again run for Governor in the upcoming election that will occur in June. Manzanedo, who has served as Governor of Santiago Del Estero since 2015, was expected to announce her intention to run for the federal House of Representatives seat that is vacant in the province, however, she dispelled these rumors when announcing her run for Governor earlier this morning. With a popularity rate of 72%, the highest of any Governor in Cojedes, Manzanedo is expected to be re-elected by a clear cut majority. Governor Manzanedo is known for her overwhelmingly Conservative beliefs, which is strongly popular in the province. Her reform of the provincial tax laws has made her popular among the people, giving back more money to the poorest 10% of the province of roughly 1,7 million. Governor Manzanedo will face off against Marco Diego Pozo in the June election, in which she is expected to win.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Nico Alvarado and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story, a new song is taking the nation by storm as the trio "La Madres" (The Mothers) has unveiled the new lead song of their brand new album. The song, called "Move", quickly rose to be the number 1 song on Cojedan Charts, especially in Southern Cojedes where the trio originates. The song has also become one of the most viewed on YouVision, the main video streaming service throughout Cojedes. The song has also been bought on IMusic over 15 million times since its release yesterday. The song has become a rallying cry for several people across the nation and encourages people never to give up. We spoke to the group who told us that the song is essentially calling for people to never give up and to keep moving on, especially in relationships. The group has stated that the song will be the campaign theme song for Governor Manzanedo.

In other news, former Vice President Sebastian Rega was announced this morning as a nominee for the post of Secretary of Health of the Province of Corrientes. The announcement came this morning from Governor Amengual and was met with some caution from all parties and the public as the former VP had served under the impeached Juan Berrocal. Governor Amengual said in a statement that Rega was not the only candidate for Secretary of Health, but stated that he believed he was the best candidate for the position. He also stated that he would recommend him to the Senate of the Province of Corrientes later this week and, if he is not approved, would consider appointing him as the Special Provincial Delegate to the Senate of Cojedes. Rega, a former Doctor, thanked the Governor for the nomination and stated that he would be honored to serve as Secretary of Health if it is the will of the Senate.

That is all for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good afternoon and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story this afternoon, the snow storms that overwhelmed the nation through January and February have subsided and now the country is returning to a sense of normalcy as schools and business are re-opening and travel is going on uninterrupted. In Corrientes Province, as the snow began to melt, rivers have begun to rise and, in some areas, flooding has occurred. Even though the flooding has caused some damage to some roads, people in the provinces have not shown much concern of this and are just glad to be back outside and able to travel around. We spoke to Franco Coronil, a worker of the Cojedan Banco del Sur, who told us that this would be the first time in nearly two weeks that he has been able to go to work. "Everyone was trapped inside their homes. No one could really get out for days. We had to shut down the banks because every time that they went out to plow the roads, another snow storm would come back over and block us yet again." President Andrea Lacasa had dispatched Federal Emergency Officials to each province to discuss with the local governments what the Federal government could do to help and approved a Federal Emergency Declaration for all 13 provinces, as well as the capital city of Rosario.

Rosario Medical System CEO Xavier Ros and Secretary of Health Marisol Manzanedo held a joint press conference this morning from the steps of the main hospital in which the pair announced the expansion of the hospital system to now include new hospitals, a new off-site Emergency Center, and also the first expansion into Rosario Province, all current hospitals being in the Capital District. The announcement came as the government has pledged to give more funding to hospital systems and to healthcare providers nationwide. Ros, who has served as CEO of RMS for nearly fifteen years, stated that he was excited for the expansion into Rosario Province, as well as the opening of a new hospital in the Capital District, and an expansion to the main hospital which will include a brand new cardiac unit, an expansion to the main Emergency Department, and a new Behavioral Health Ward. "This will be by far the largest expansion of the Rosario Medical System since its founding nearly 100 years ago. This project, which will cost 300 million pesos, will take roughly five to seven years to complete. We hope to begin on the project by late June-early July of this year." Secretary Manzanedo stated she was proud to be involved in helping with the expansion project and stated that the name of the future expanded ward would be the "President Caleb Fernandez Tower".

A special report from the Department of Human Services was released yesterday with the final approval coming from Secretary Adrian Zorita early yesterday morning. The report, which was in regards to adoption across Cojedes, stated that in 2019, there was a 5.5% increase in the number of adoptions compared to the previous year. There were numerous reasons listed in the report for why there may have been more adoptions in 2019, but the most common reason that was told to adoption agencies was that the people who would become parents felt that it was their duty to ensure that these children had a place to live. The most surprising aspect of the report was in the demographics of those being adopted. For the first time in the history of record keeping by the Department of Human Services, teenagers (defined as ranging from age 13-17 in foster care), were the highest categorized aged to be adopted, while those who were in the youngest bracket, below age 3, came second. We spoke to Secretary Zorita, who told us that he believed the Cojedan people chose adoption more in 2019 because they realized there was a great need and realized that it would be one of the greatest forms of devotion to God that they could complete to ensure that the care of children is a top priority. "In the scriptures, we are told to take care of not only the old, but also the young. In 2019, the majority of Cojedan preachers emphasized the passages that discuss this subject, and I feel that it possibly lead to an increase in adoption rates." Secretary Zorita also stated that this year this far, there has been roughly 100 more adoptions per month, leading him to believe that we may see an even higher adoption rate by the end of this year.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Nico Alvarado and here is all the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, President Andrea Lacasa held a press conference this afternoon to discuss the recent progress in the completion of the Vision 2025 Project. The press conference, which was unusual for it being held on a Sunday, shed light on the major projects that have recently taken place across the Cojedan Republic. In the press conference, President Lacasa gave one piece of news that will possibly have a major impact on the Cojedan economy in the coming days. "I am most pleased to announce that due to our continuing efforts and our personal zeal to strive to be the best we can be, the State Oil Company of the Cojedan Republic has discovered more oil in the seas to the North and West of our coast. Over the past year we have been engaging in projects to build more oil platforms in the seas to help drive the production of oil. Once these platforms are completed, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, Cojedes will for the first time be fully self-sufficient on oil!" In the press conference, President Lacasa also stated that the Cojedan nation could begin exporting oil by next year. Towards the end of the press conference, President Lacasa also stated that the government would begin to complete its obligations under Article XI of the Vision 2025 Project, which involves Education Reform, though she did not stipulate what this reform would be at the time. It is expected that the Cojedan economy will take a major rise in the coming days due to the successful press conference.

In other news, it is expected to be a hot tempered day in the Corrientes Provincial Assembly tomorrow as the Senate and House of the Province will begin debate on Governor Amengual's nomination of former VP Sebastian Rega for the post of Secretary of Health. We spoke with several Senators and Representatives, with it being roughly 50-50 on those in favor and those against the former Vice President's nomination. One Senator, who asked to remain anonymous, stated, "It amazes me that Governor Amengual, a member of the Justicialist Party and staunch supporter of President Lacasa, would nominate the former VP of a man who was arrested, tried, and found guilty of treason in the eyes of the Supreme Court. I believe that this could be a slippery slope. I do not know if the Governor is making the best decision with this nomination, but, the vote lies in the hands of the Senators and Representatives." In a poll conducted by KTV-5 Corrientes, 62% of respondents said that they would not be in favor of Rega holding any position in the Provincial Government. In the same poll, 78% of respondents stated that were perfectly fine with former VP Diego Alejandro Andrade, who served as Second VP under Juan Berrocal, serving in his position as the Federal Secretary of Education. We asked a political analyst why there was more animosity towards Rega than towards Andrade and this is what he had to say: "What most people don't realize is that, obviously, Rega and Andrade are two separate people. They are almost polar opposites of one another. Andrade, even while serving under Berrocal, only had the best intentions in his heart. He is a man who has served the people of Cojedes diligently and has tried to make it possible for people to receive the education that they are guaranteed in our constitution. On the other hand, not much was known as Sebastian Rega before he was elevated to the position of First Vice President and it was believed that he bought his way to that position. I would venture to say that, while Rega did many good things for the country, his endeavors pale in comparison to Andrade and his continued support for Berrocal, even after he has been declared guilty by the courts and by the people of Cojedes, make him a very unpopular person.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Nico Alvarado and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, famous Cojedan singer Arturo Carballal died this morning in his home in Heravion at the age of 87. Carballal, who is probably most notable for his song "Dios Sea Contigo" (God Be With You), passed away with his family near him after a long battle with heart disease. Carballal was known for his high tenor voice and often dramatic undertones while singing, something that has become very popular in Cojedan church music. Governor Diego Alejandro Sarmiento, a longtime friend of Carballal, declared a week of mourning in Heravion Province and posthumously awarded Carballal the Order of Heravion. President Andrea Lacasa issued her condolences and stated that the country had lost an amazing singer and person who truly cared for the nation. President Lacasa immediately put in Carballal's name for nomination for the Order of the Blue Banner, the nations second highest honor.

In other news, the Provinces of Santiago del Estero, Córdoba, and Tucumán are all gearing up for state-wide as well as local elections that will be held over the course of the next three months. All three Governor's (Esperanza Manzanedo of Santiago del Estero, Jonathan Correa of Córdoba, and Miguel Zoido Covarrubias of Tucumán) are all up for re-election over the next couple of months. So far, Manzanedo and Correa are the only two who have declared that they will be running for re-election, while Covarrubias has yet to declare his intent to run. It is unknown why Covarrubias has not yet made his decision to run for re-election, however, some people believe he will be declaring his candidacy in the coming days. Of the three Governors, Jonathan Correa is expected to have the hardest time winning re-election as he is an Independent running in a majority NCU province. Political Commentator Jose Alguial told us that he would actually be surprised if Correa is unseated saying, "Correa, while he is not aligned with any political party, has done tremendous things for the province. He was revamped the economy, taking a huge focus away from agriculture and making a diverse economy, as well as a huge tax relief following devastating storms that affected the province last year. That being said, Correa's popularity rating sits at 62%, meaning he could potentially have enough support to be re-elected". Covarrubias, on the other hand, has slightly less than a 50% popularity rating, meaning if he runs for re-election, he could face an uphill battle against any would-be NCU candidate.

That is all we have for now! Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, the Cojedan National Assembly has voted and passed legislation to change Article XVIII of the Constitution, regarding the status of language in the Republic. Following a referendum of the people of the Republic, the National Assembly has officially decreed Andrennian, Gojan, and Mercanti to be minority languages in the Republic of Cojedes. The bill, which was immediately signed by President Andrea Lacasa, was passed after the nation voted in a 72%-28% referendum in December. President Lacasa, when signing the bill, stated that it was a grand day for the republic and that the people of the republic had made the right decision in finally recognizing the role of minority groups in Cojedes. "It is my greatest honor to sign this bill into law today and officially recognize the great contributions of minority groups in our republic and the role their languages play here. If it had been up to me, this bill would have been passed immediately following the referendum, however, other important pieces of legislation were in the way and became integral to pass following the referendum."

The Regional Assembly of the Province of Corrientes has approved of the nomination of Sebastian Rega to be the Secretary of Health of the Province effective this coming Monday. In a shocking vote to many people, the Senate voted to confirm Rega with 67% voting in favor, while the House of Representatives voted with 56% in favor, barely reaching the threshold in each house to confirm the nominee. The most surprising divide in the vote was that of the leadership of the Senate and that of the House. Corrientes Senate Chairman Salvador Sancho (JP) voted in favor of Rega, while House Speaker Mia Cozallo (JP) voted against the nomination. We spoke with political commentator Jair Martinez, who told us that this showed that there were cracks in the party line of the Justicialist Party. "We have known for quite some time that the Justicialist Party was beginning to fracture, but we just didn't know how strongly it would be. I believe that this was a prime example of the divide in the party and it could potentially cause them to falter in the upcoming local elections."

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Nico Alvarado and here is all the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, after several weeks of debate, the Cojedan Senate officially reached an agreement on President Andrea Lacasa's nomination for the Constitutional Court of Cojedes. After several extraordinary sessions and meetings that went on past normal Senatorial working hours, the Senate officially voted to confirmed Vivian Rasgado to the position of Associate Justice of the Constitutional Court of Cojedes. The final vote, which took place early this morning, was 225 to 43, showing that the clear majority of Senators were in favor of the nominee. The majority of votes against the nomination came from the Liberal Party of Cojedes, as well as 5 of the 13 minority members and some independents of the Senate. Rasgado will join four other female Associate Justices when she is swore in by Chief Justice Nikolai Rodriguez tomorrow morning. Rasgado thanked the Senate for bestowing their faith in her and promised to serve the nation dutifully. Upon entry to the court, Rasgado will be tasked with the task of deciding the Republic of Cojedes vs. Province of San Luis to determine whether the Province has violated Article XXI (21) of the Constitution by refusing to citizen of the age of 16 to vote. Currently, the Constitution provides anyone, minus convicted felons, who are age 16 to vote.

A special announcement came from Senate Chairman Nestor Estávez and Deputy Chairwoman Irene Molina during an early morning press conference. As joint chairs of the Rosario Initiative, the two are required to give quarterly reports on the progress of the Initiative, which has been bolstered by more government funding in recent months. During the press conference, Chairman Estávez confirmed to the public that the nation has reached half of its capabilities in use of renewable energy, currently sitting as 20% of the 40% required by the Rosario Initiative. In regards to education, Deputy Chairwoman Molina declared that the government will finance at minimum 20% of a students college tuition beginning in the upcoming Fall Semester. "We have finally received the funding and support that we need to be able to achieve this capability. The budget for education has been expanded to roughly 68 billion pesos. The funding for college education will also be handled at the state level, with the state assuming anywhere from 5% to 7% of college education." The largest surprise came when both they jointly announced that the Republic is within months of reaching full independence in regards to product of oil and natural gas. Chairman Estávez said, "For long, Cojedes has been attempting to continue in our venture to make ourselves self-reliant in regards to oil and natural gas. We can confirm today that the Republic will be fully self-sufficient on oil and natural gas by the end of the year. We plan to begin exporting oil to our allies by the beginning of next year if not earlier." They quoted the recent discoveries of oil in the seas to the North and West of Cojedes as being major catalyst. The recent government deadline for the Rosario Initiative is set for January 1st 2023.

In other news, the government officially released statistics on economic growth rates for 2019, as well as current unemployment rates. According to the report released earlier this week, the Cojedan economy grew roughly 3.5% in 2019, with the majority of economic growth occurring in the medical and industry sector. Several analyst have described this economic growth as being because of a higher faith in the government and on continued promises, including pay raises and an increase in maternity leave, as well as allowing paternity leave. Our analysts also found that there was higher increases in exports from Cojedes last year to our closest allies, as well as the opening of newer trade ventures. The economy is expected to have continued growth in 2020. The report also released the most recent unemployment figures, declaring that the current unemployment rate is 4,28%, down nearly 1,2% compared to the previous year. The government cited this as being because more Cojedans have a desire to work and are being incentivized by better opportunities, including better paying jobs and better insurance options. The highest increase in jobs in 2019 was in the healthcare field, which added roughly 140,000 jobs.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

This is a Breaking News Story from Cojedes 24!

Good evening. This is Nico Alvarado reporting from the steps of the National Assembly building where President Andrea Lacasa is about to make a major announcement. President Lacasa will be walking out the doors at any second now. We believe that her announcement will be in response to the recent attack on the Andrennian Parliament and the declaration of war between Andrenne and Dučrijeka . President Lacasa is now taking her place.

"My fellow Cojedans. I have just become recently informed on an attack against the sovereignty of our neighbor Andrenne. Not long ago, the Andrennian Parliament was attacked by rebels who are calling for the independence of a republic this is not recognized by many, especially not here in Cojedes. We stand in solidarity with our Andrennian brothers in this time and will give them our full and undivided support. These attacks against sovereign independent nations should not be allowed or accepted by any civil society and we will certainly maintain our support for the Andrennian government in this trying time. For the safety and security of all Cojedans, the border guards have been instructed to do further checks on vehicles to ensure that would-be terrorists do not cross over into Cojedes and cause harm to our civilians. We also will stand by the Andrennians in their war against Dučrijeka and will, if necessary, provide whatever support we may to the Andrennian nation. Due to the declaration of war, the Republic of Cojedes will be adding stiffer rules to the border checkpoints and, if the war is to come closer to the border of Cojedes, will shut down the border if there is a major need. Cojedes will also provide humanitarian aid to Andrenne if they request it. The prayers of the people of Cojedes are with the people of Andrenne at this time and we will maintain support for all the people of Andrenne. "

We have just heard from President Andrea Lacasa who has made comments regarding the recent attack against the Andrennian Parliament and the Andrennian Declaration of war against Dučrijeka. What we can gather is that President Lacasa and the government have thrown their support behind the Andrennian Government and are in the process of discussing what actions the government of Cojedes may end up taking, especially if the Cojedan nation actually does have to become further involved in the war, which is currently seen as being unlikely. The government does have plans to shut the border down if the war comes closer to our borders. We will keep you up to date with any government plans as they become known to us. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24 for this important news update.

This is a Special News Broadcast from Cojedes 24. We go live to our host Isabel Maria Costa.

Costa: Good evening and thank you for joining us at Cojedes 24. I'm Isabel Maria Costa. Tonight is a special report on the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Torcuato Di Tella University) in Rosario. Tonight, we will take a look into the history and the magic that has made this university so dear to the hearts of many, and we will discuss a very special and significant anniversary for this grand university that helped reform our great nation. We hope you will take a tour with us down memory lane as we honor this great center for higher learning.

From the outside, the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella may not look like much, but it is the people that makes this place so amazing. This grand institute of learning has seen amazing days as well as some very dim days. The University, founded back in 1854, was originally know as the Military Institute of Eastern Cojedes. Until the mid-1960's, the university remained a military institute until it became a non-profit private university. The University has seen many historical events throughout it history and we are joined by University Dean Rolando Fernandino who is going to tell us more.

Costa: We are pleased to welcome Rolando Fernandino, the Dean of Unidersidad Torcuato Di Tella. Thank you so much Mr. Fernandino for joining us tonight.

Fernandino: Thank you for having me. It is an honor to be here.

Costa: We were hoping you could give us a history of this great institute. We know the background was that it was a military institute and it had several important historical events, but we hope you can elaborate on this.

Fernandino: Of course. I would love to. The University was originally found in 1854 as the Military Institute of Eastern Cojedes, and was sometimes known as "The Institute". It was the largest of all the military institutes in the country, save for the Naval Institute of Heravion. The first graduating class from the institute was the Class of 1858 and several notable people who graduated from this class included General Tomas Frexia, as well as two future Presidents: Juan Esteban Correa and Ezequiel Velazquez. The institute continued to expand gradually and one of its largest classes before the 1900's actually graduated in 1894, having nearly 1,250 graduates that year. The next major event that occurred was during the Second Cojedan Civil War. During this time, the Cojedan Army had abandoned the government of Gerardo Andino after he issued some corrupt policies. The government, believing they could count on the support of the Institute, sent soldiers that has remained loyal to the government to take it over. The cadets in the Institute responded by setting up barricades and digging trenches so that the soldiers would not be able to cross into the institute. For nearly two months, the cadets fought hard against the Loyalist of Gerardo Andino and would eventually win the battle after setting a trap that allowed them to encircle the troops and cause them to surrender. In total, 378 cadets died in the battle to defend the institute while it is estimated that nearly 4,000 loyalist died in the battle.

Costa: That is very interesting Mr. Fernandino and we thank them for their amazing heroism in defending the institute. We know that it was under your guidance that a memorial stone to the 378 cadets was ordered and that the names of all 378 cadets is on there and we thank you for wishing to honor their heroism. What was the role of the military institute during the Fascist War?

Fernandino: The Fascist War was actually the major proving point for the institute. As the Andrennians were surrounding Rosario and were poised to take it over, the entire city was mobilized and turned into a defensive city with the sole purpose of ensuring the "Great City of Peace" was not captured. This involved the mobilization of the nearly 5,000 cadets who were studying at the institute at the time. General Sebastian Arnal was the Military Dean at the time and issued orders to all students that they were to partake in the defense of the city. When the Andrennians came knocking on the doors of the city, the city was prepared and, throughout the entire war, never fell into enemy hands. The cadets defended every inch of the city to the best of their ability and several later went on to becoming major military figures, including future Commander Iker Abasto and Brigadier General Alexis Murillo. Of the cadets that served in the defense of the city, nearly 1,425 died as a result of the fighting or from injuries sustained during fighting. Of those who died, all of them were posthumously elevated to military positions and received full military honors after the end of the war.

Costa: Such amazing history and courage that these cadets had in the defense of our great nation and our amazing city. We would like to hear just a little more in the lead up to the significant anniversary that we will be discussing with several other important figures from the university.

Fernandino: Why of course. Following the end of the Fascist War, the Institute began to pick up the pieces and clean up the rubble from the damage that had been done to the entire campus. The Department of Defense then began to consider if there was a need for the institute to continue in the way it had, or, if the institute could transition into a university that would welcome all students. The decision lay dormant for quite some time until, under the leadership of President Xavier Xirau, the decision was made to transfer the Institute into the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. Originally, the University only consisted of the School of Business and the School of Law, but, during the 70's and 80's, the addition of the Schools of Economics, Political Science, International Studies, History, Architecture, Design, and Education were added. So, that is the majority of the history of the University.

Costa: Thank you so much for joining us Mr. Fernandino and for sharing the history that this great university has had over the years. It has been an honor to have you here.

Fernandino: It has been my pleasure thank you for having me.

The Universidad Torcuato Di Tella has had some major historical events leading up the 70's and 80's, but it was actually in the 90's where the true major events would begin to take place and shape this great university. In 1990, the Socialist Council took over the country after assassinating President Antonio Suarez and the students of the University began to feel the brunt of socialist influence in Cojedes after the funding to the school was severely reduced to make way for an increase in the military. The students of the university eventually had enough and, under the leadership of Mendina Valdez and Javier Santángel, organized a student revolution. At first, the revolution consisted of only 50 students and was not considered a major threat to the Socialist Government. However, what started off small, quickly turned into a revolution of nearly 4,500 students united in the effort to put an end to Socialist rule. Soldiers of the Cojedan Army were sent to disperse the students and, after a fight of nearly 40 days, took roughly half the student into custody and the revolution was quelled. Little did they know, that this would only fan the flames that was yet to come.

Costa: Tonight, we are joined by Mendina Valdez and Javier Santángel, the original organizers of the student revolution. We are so thankful to have the two of you here tonight.

Valdez: Thank you so much for having me.

Santángel: It is an honor to be here.

Costa: There was obviously a lot of passion that occurred on the grounds of the campus as the students took to the streets openly to protest the Socialist Government. What were your feelings when you started this movement?

Santángel: I think, for me at least and probably for many, it was wanting to belong to a movement that meant more than myself. The Socialist Council had caused so much trouble in our country at the time, especially after the assassination of President Suarez. A primary catalyst for our protests was the fact that we continued to lose funding and several students were actually having to come together and purchase the equipment used in several of the classes.

Valdez: I agree with Santángel that it was part of being a movement, but for me, and I'm sure it's the same for him, that we had seen a massive increase in disappearances among students and faculty across campus. I remember at the beginning of my second semester of college in 1989 that we had roughly 400 professors and other faculty throughout the entire campus, and probably had roughly 7,000 students at that point. Only a year later, we were down to maybe 200 faculty and 5,500 students with no explanation as to where any of the others had possibly gone. When i was in my second semester, we favorite professor was Melina Reyes. She was one of three professors of Criminal Law. I always looked forward to going to her class and I would attend several meetings with her and other students outside of the regular class schedule. So when I noticed that her name was not among the list of professors in the Spring of 1990, I knew that something was wrong. We later found out in early 2002 that Professor Reyes was murdered by the Socialist Council because she preached against their methods of torture and had fought several judicial cases against them.

Costa: What was it like being there on the first day, 30 years ago today, and leading fellow students in protest?

Valdez: I have to say I was very nervous. I remember probably throwing up four times before actually getting to the protest because I was so nervous about it. I didn't know if they were going to come that day and kill us or if they were going to overlook us and let us go on doing our own thing.

Santángel: I would definitely say I was nervous, but I would also say that I was excited because it felt like we were actually out there attempting to make a difference, regardless of how small we were at the time.

Costa: How did you spread the word about the protest and how did you actually get more people to join in?

Santángel: I was actually the one in charge of spreading information regarding protest times and trying to recruit more people to join in during the movement. We normally would just go door to door and discuss our background with the different students on the campus and we were quickly able to appeal to several of the students. By the final days of the student movement, roughly 4,500 had joined in on our cause and were fighting for the right to be able to attend the college, as well as for the freedoms we now enjoy today. We were fighting against Socialism, which was the destroyer of the Cojedan Nation.

Costa: In the final days of the protest, after the soldiers had been sent to disperse the crowds, what was it like when the two of you were arrested.

Valdez: It was definitely a major sense of fear that came over me once I was arrested but I was definitely not going to allow them to see that I was scared. They drove me out to a rural area in Rosario Province and tortured me for several days. They tried to get me to renounce the student revolution and to join their cause. I told them I would rather die than join them. They had planned to kill me, but "President" Bruno Gusman refused to allow that to happen because he believed that if he killed me or Javier, that they would have a war on their hands immediately and would be thrown out of power.

Santángel: It was definitely shocking when they arrested us because we had expected they would kill us right on the spot. They had already beaten at least 50 students there on campus and had taken several hundreds of others to prison, so we were expecting the bullet at any moment. They took me to Corrientes and threatened to kill me several times, but, like Mendina said, they realized it would be a futile act that would lead to greater issues ahead.

Costa: Not long after the student revolution at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella was dismantled, schools across the country erupted in protest and the two of you were freed. The two of you continued to fight for freedoms using pseudonyms to protect your identity so that they would not be able to find you. Soon, you were contacted by the Cojedan Rebel Army who would soon launch an uprising against the Socialist. What was that like being at campus and launching a war against the Socialist Government?

Santángel: It was probably hardest time of my life, definitely the most scared I have ever been. Before, we were only launching peaceful protests, but now, we are in the middle of a full blown war and ended up becoming leaders in the revolution. The Socialist Council sent the Army to arrest us, but they were greeted by students throughout the campus bearing arms the entire way. After realizing that they were outnumbered, the army retreated from the campus and never came back until the battle that took place at campus in January of '93.

Valdez: It was definitely exciting being at the forefront of this fight and being able to continue to make our voices known. Of course, only this time, weapons were actually involved. I recall greatly the battle for the campus in '93. Nearly all the students were supplied weapons by the rebels and some were even taken from the former Armory on the school campus, as well as the Government Armory that sat five miles away. It was a glorious fight. It was a very sad result for us, as several of our great friends died in the fighting and several more were taken away to be tortured and never heard from again.

Costa: Mr. Santángel, according to most reports, you were actually the one who perpetrated the protests and were the main leader of the protest. What was it like for you knowing that, not only had you led a student revolution, but also would be a leader of the Rebels during the Socialist Civil War?

Santángel: It was hardly something I ever thought about. We always thought we were united in this movement and that we would always just be equals through thick and thin. We didn't have a chain of command during the student revolution, but we quickly assembled one during the early stages of the Civil War. If I had to go back and do it all again, I would without a doubt. I would never change a thing that occurred and I know many feel the same.

Costa: Thank you so much both of you for being here tonight. Your sacrifice back then was simply amazing and we are grateful for all you have done for this nation and its people.

Valdez and Santángel: Thank you for having us!

The Student Revolution would be a pre-cursor to the Socialist Civil War, sometimes known as the Third Civil War. The war, which lasted from 1992-2000, greatly affected the landscape of the campus and how it operated. Following the end of the war, the university continued to become a major part of society and continues to be a school that is always welcoming to the newest and brightest of Cojedan students.

Costa: We have looked into this one of the greatest institutions of higher learning throughout the entire country. The Universidad Torcuato Di Tella has had an amazing history throughout its nearly 170 year history. From the early military institute, to fighting in the defense of Rosario, to being the true site of the beginning of the Socialist Civil War, the University has many exciting pieces about it and will continue to for years to come. Today, the university is home to roughly 30,000 students, only surpassed in its region by the University of Rosario. We are mightily grateful for all that the people of this great university have done for us throughout the years. As well, we thank you all tonight for joining us here at Cojedes 24 as we profile the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella on the 30th Anniversary of the Beginning of the Student Revolution. Have a good night!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, the Cojedan Navy has officially called the RCN Esperanza del Mar (Hope of the Sea) Hospital Ship into active duty as of this morning. The ship, which had its construction begin in 2016, was officially commissioned in 2019 and, after several different trials, was declared fit for active duty. President Andrea Lacasa granted the final permission for active duty and attended the ceremony as it set out to sea. President Lacasa, joined by Carmen Alarcon, the Chief of Staff of the Cojedan Navy, as well as several others for the traditional breaking of a bottle of champagne on the ship. The President wished the greatest of luck for the ship and stated that she hopes it will bring the highest of hope for the people who will end up using its hospital wards. According to the official government report, the ship has 500 beds, 3 operating rooms, and various imaging scanners. The ship will join Naval Group East and will replace the RCN Misericordia, which will travel to join Naval Group North. According to a government dossier, the ship will be able to be used for aiding hospitals when a catastrophic disaster occurs and hospital are unable to provide full relief. The government also stated that the Esperanza del Mar was only the first in a new class of hospital ships and that the other two, which are expected to be named after major historical medical figures in Cojedes, could potentially be in active service by 2022. The cost of each ship will be roughly 100 million Cojedan Pesos.

In other news, the Cojedan Department of Human Services announced this week that the number of people participating in the FitnessRx Program now included roughly 2 million people, up from the 500,000 that were participating as mid-2019 when the last report was given. At a press conference given on Tuesday, Secretary Adrian Zorita stated that the reason he believed the increase occurred was because people have begun to take their health more seriously. "If we look at the statistics, we have seen that the number of people going to the doctor outside of their annual checkup has actually gone down and from those annual appointments, we are noticing a decrease in obesity and the rates of diagnosis of obesity related issues, including diabetes and high blood pressure." The released report also stated that funding for the program had increased under the current government leadership and that the House and Senate plan to pass legislation next year that will set aside special funding for the program.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story, the Cojedan Government announced earlier this morning that the Cojedan Centers for Disease Prevention and Control would officially be renamed the Administración Nacional De Laboratorios E Institutos de Salud (National Laboratories and Health Institutes Administration), also known as ANLIS. The decision was announced at a press conference held by Secretary of Health Marisol Manzanedo. When question as to why this change was made, Secretary Manzanedo said it came after discussions with several of the Provincial Governors and other government officials to make the name more representative of national culture. "The old name did fit with the rest of the national agencies. Throughout history, almost all of our great agencies have been in the Cojedan language. Throughout its entire duration, the CCDPC was the only one that was in Mercanti. In a way to keep with the tradition of other agencies and helping to keep our culture strong, we feel this decision is the best path forward." The press conference also revealed that there will be an increase in funding for ANLIS. Original funding sat at roughly 8 billion pesos per year. According to the government speech, ANLIS will receive an additional 8.7 billion pesos, for a grand total of 16.7 billion in funding per year. When asked where this money would come from, Secretary Manzanedo stated that the National Assembly had voted to allocate funding from the Health Budget to the agency. "The National Budget already grants funding to the CCDPC through its health funding. The money for ANLIS will be given from the health budget as well." The National Assembly has stated this will not be a major change whatsoever and that funding for hospitals would remain unaffected.

Governor Esperanza Manzanedo of Santiago del Estero, who is also the sister of Health Secretary Marisol Manzanedo and of Justice Secretary Axel Manzanedo , was re-elected Governor of the Province following provincial elections that took place this week. The final result of the election was that Governor Manzanedo was elected with 69% of the vote, while the Liberal Party candidate took nearly 21% of the vote, with all other candidates claiming the rest. The people of the province also elected a new Regional Assembly, which saw the National Conservative Union claim an additional 13 seats in the House and 5 seats in the Senate. The city of Santiago del Estero, which has typically elected Liberal Party candidates, actually flipped for the first time in a near half century to Juana Espiga. Government Manzanedo thanked the people of the province for their continued support and promised that she would fulfill her campaign promises, including lowering taxes on small businesses and lowering provincial taxes on people making less than 60,000 pesos per year as soon as the new regional assembly is sworn in. President Andrea Lacasa had a phone call with Governor Manzanedo this morning, in which she congratulated her and wished her all the best of luck with her new government.

In other news, the Governor of Heravion, Diego Alejandro Sarmiento, held a forum this morning to discuss the War on Drugs occurring in his province. The conference, which was attended by nearly 100 members of the press and several public officials, as well as civilians who have been affected by the drug crisis in Heravion. Governor Sarmiento stated during the press conference that his government will be doing more to stop the spread of drugs throughout his province and would also continue to have the National Guard of Heravion fight against the drugs lords and those who have enacted violence. "Our primary goal is the safety of the people of Heravion. I promised in my campaign that we would be working towards ending the drug crisis and I will ensure that this is taken care of. We will do whatever necessary to ensure the drug crisis ends." In 2019 alone, 5,000 people died from overdose on drugs, while nationwide (including the statistics from Heravion) the total number of overdose resulting in death was only 7,500, showing that the majority came from Heravion. The federal government has promised aid in the province to assist in helping to end the drug crisis, including education and providing free rehab for those who will accept it.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Cristina Murillo and here is all the latest news from Cojedes.

President Andrea Lacasa announced this morning that the capital city will soon hold a military parade to show off the recent improvements to the Cojedan military. The President, who was holding her weekly press conference, declared that the military parade will take place on 2 May, which is Independence Day. "After lengthy discussion, the decision has been made to hold a military parade on the 2nd of May to coincide with the events of our Independence Day. The people who make this country great deserve the have the ability to see what improvements the government has made to our military forces. The Army and Air Force parade will take place in the Plaza Independencia, while the Naval Parade will take place on the shores of the city of Rosario. We expect a very large turnout for the festivities this year and we will be taking every precaution necessary to ensure the security of the people who are in attendance and the people who are gathering for the celebration of Independence." This will be the 528th anniversary of the Declaration of Cojedan Independence and will mark only the third time that a military parade has taken place in the national capital, the first occurring in 1942 and the second occurring in 2017. The President also stated she plans to extend invitations to foreign leaders for the festivities.

The Governors of La Rioja, Mendoza, San Juan, and Tucumán Province are holding a joint meeting this weekend in the city of Aminga, which is in the Castro Barros District, to discuss regional cooperation and the need to expand economic development between the provinces. In attendance of the meeting are Governors Jeremías Frexia (La Rioja), Adán Pomar (Mendoza), Antonio Suarez (San Juan), and Miguel Zoido Covarrubias (Tucumán). According to Governor Frexia, who is hosting the meeting, the main intent of the meeting is to foster an increase in trade and economic unity between the four provinces, as well as increasing regional cooperation in regards to education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. According to Governor Covarrubias, "Our provinces are, quite literally, the heart of Cojedes, seeing as we are the four central provinces. The Province of Tucumán has always tried to do our best to foster relationships between the great people of our provinces and we will continue to do everything we can to ensure this continues. I hope the meeting in Aminga will go as well as well all hope it will and that we can building a resiliency that will last for centuries to come." The meeting will take place through Monday evening and, as of this afternoon, the four governors had announced an agreement on increasing funding for roads, along with the Governors Frexia and Suarez agreeing to build a hydroelectric power station owned by the two provinces along the Nokomis River, which forms the majority of the border between the two provinces.

In other news, we at Cojedes 24 are sad to announce the death of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Ines Arboleta (Née Belmonte). In a press release by her family, it was revealed that the Associate Justice passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89, being the oldest current justice on the Supreme Court. The press release, which was given by her grandson, Julián Arboleta, remembered her for being a formidable justice on the nation's highest court and for sticking to her traditions. "What I will most remember her for is for her love of our family. No matter how many cases she had ongoing, she always made time to spend with her family and always ensured we each were fed to the max, and then sent food home with us also." Justice Arboleta was a descendant of the Belmonte Family through her mother, and thus, was a descendant of the Former Royal Family of Corazón . Chief Justice Nikolai Rodriguez stated that he would miss working alongside Arboleta, who was his Deputy. President Andrea Lacasa offered her condolences to the family, alongside declaring a week of national mourning. Lacasa stated that a state funeral would be afforded to Arboleta and that she would miss her friend dearly.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Evangelina Cotilla and here is the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, First Vice President Aitana Morterero has officially signed the Nature Protection Proclamation #52, declaring the Chibouchill Glacier in the province of Tucumán to be a National Park. The FVP signed the bill this morning while traveling on a boat throughout Nokomis River. During a press conference that was held on the boat, Morterero stated that it was the duty of the nation to ensure the protection of nature and that this bill would allow for funding for research into the glacier and the mountains that surround it, as well as supporting efforts to ensure the protection of this great site from waste products. "We have seen in recent years that companies have been spilling their waste into the Nokomis River and that it has begun to pollute this area. By the order of this law, companies will be fined if their waste products end up in these portions of the Nokomis River." The Glacier has been known to affect the volume of the water, especially during its periods of discharge, the most recent being in 2017 when roughly 8,000 m3/s was discharged into the river, causing it to peak for several days. Morterero stated she will continue to support ecological efforts throughout her tenure.

In other news, the meeting that took place between the Governors of La Rioja, Mendoza, San Juan, and Tucumán concluded tonight with a diner held in at the Governor's Mansion in La Rioja. A press conference held this afternoon showed a great amount of cooperation between the Governors, which included legislation being drafted by the Assembly of La Rioja and the Assembly of Mendoza to declare a mutual trade agreement, to promote business and trade, as well as continuing to support infrastructure development in each others province. According to Jeremías Frexia, Governor of La Rioja, the Province is committing 220 million pesos to support the development of new medical technology in the province, in cooperation with Mendoza Province, which is going to commit 100 million pesos to the project. According to the Governor, "La Rioja Province lacks behind the other provinces in the nation in regards to our medical capabilities. This has surprised many people in our government for years, especially given the La Rioja has the 6th largest economy of the 13 provinces in the country. We will continue to work with our neighboring provinces, and we thank them for their continued support." Mendoza Province, which has the 4th largest economy in the nation, is home to the main manufacturer of medical equipment in Cojedes, Techint.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Sebastian Montoya and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, a new song has taken the nation by storm and it has critics raving! Cojedan singer Paulina Alessandra Quesada released her brand new single "Kingdom Come" and it has quickly become a hit throughout the nation, with the music video being watched 14 million times in its first day on YouMusic. The song has also been bought roughly 8.7 million times on iMusic. Rosario Music Critic Jose Moruga gave a statement regarding the song, praising the singer for her support of the Cojedan values of helping others whenever they can. "The song speaks directly to the heart and soul of the Cojedan people. Paulina has brought up the core Cojedan values of helping your neighbor and she hints at the faith that our nation holds dear in the song. It is truly a masterpiece and is worthy of any award it receives." The song has received praise from around the country and has even been mentioned by President Andrea Lacasa at a cultural conference that took place this morning. Paulina has thanked the nation for their deep support and said she looks forward to unveiling the song at the opening match of the Cojedan Premier League which will occur on the 1st of May.

The Province of La Rioja has already seen a few changes following the meeting of Governors that occurred two weekends ago. The first major change is that medical supplies company Technit has been given the land permit to build a facility to the province. It is expected that construction on this facility will begin by the end of the month. Once construction is complete, it is expected that roughly 22,000 people could potentially be employed by the company. Another major change is that both the provinces of Mendoza and La Rioja have passed and signed a mutual trade agreement and have agreed to promote each other's businesses in their respective provinces. The mutual trade agreement includes each province giving special important to small businesses and an agreement whereby the products sold by those small businesses will be sold in the other province. The mutual agreement also includes major economic benefits for each province, in which each will spend up to 2 billion in their respective provinces on capital improvements, with the majority of the money used coming from the trade between provinces rather than the taxes collected from the people. Governor Jeremías Frexia of La Rioja told the press that it was a historic day for the provinces and wished for further cooperation in the future. The conference that occurred has also caused other Governors to announce their intention to host conferences in their province with other governors on cooperation. So far, the Governor of Corrientes Province has extended an invitation to the Governors of Mendoza, La Rioja, Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz, Córdoba, and Entre Ríos to discuss economic and education cooperation. It has been stated that the Mayor of Rosario, Micaela Saavedra, intends to invite several of the Governors to her city to discuss cooperation.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Sebastian Montoya and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, the Governors of Mendoza, La Rioja, Corrientes, Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz, Córdoba, and Entre Ríos have held a series of meetings in the city of North Corrientes over the course of the past few weeks and several arrangements have been revealed today. The Provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos have reached a student exchange agreement, by which state run Universities will be inclined to accept a certain number of students from the opposite province. Corrientes has agreed that state Universities will accept up to 2.5% students from Entre Ríos, while Entre Ríos will reciprocate with accepting 2.2% of students from Corrientes. A spokesperson on behalf of the Governor of Mendoza revealed that they had reached an economic agreement with La Rioja to increase trade between the province and to help job procurement in the province. The Governor of Corrientes stated that the meetings have been a great success and will continue these meetings for the next few weeks. Mayor Micaela Saavedra has informed Cojedes 24 that she will be joining the meetings in the next few weeks.

President Andrea Lacasa has announced her nomination for Associate Justice of the Supreme Court following the death of Ines Arboleta. President Lacasa had informed the nation that she would wait at least a month before nominating a new associate justice to commemorate the death of Ines Arboleta, who she called an amazing public figure and defender of Cojedan values. Early this morning, President Lacasa finally revealed her nominee to the nation in front of the Senate of the Republic. "It is with great honor that I announced today that I have come to a decision on a nominee. After looking through several submissions to me by the governing officials of difference provinces and by recommendations from the Cabinet, I have decided to nominate Óliver Coronil, Deputy Chief Justice of Tucumán Province, to become the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Cojedes. This decision is not one I take lightly and it has weighed heavy on me for the past few weeks. I have looked at the record of Justice Coronil and he has fully stood up for the Cojedan people, while also standing for Cojedan law and our Constitution. I hope the Senate will begin debating later this week and potentially have a result in the near future." Senate Chairman Nestor Estávez has instructed the Judiciary Committee to begin debate either at the end of this week or early next week. Coronil thanked the President for her support and praised the leadership of the Republic and the Senate for its continued support of human freedoms.

Our final story tonight, the National Council of Security and Defense will meet over the weekend for its annual conference, the second to be chaired by President Andrea Lacasa. The Council, which contains members from the National Assembly, the Cabinet, and from the Chiefs of Staff, will meet to discuss the growing military, how to better address the terrorist attacks that have occurred in the Southern Provinces, and the drug crisis in Heravion Province. According to Second Vice President Antonia Navarro, "Tackling the drug crisis of Heravion is a huge issue from the National Council. As head of the taskforce that aims to end the crisis, this is a serious issue for me and our team. We are working closely together with Heravion officials to bring an end to this crisis and we hope to see it eradicated soon." The National Council will also discuss if there is any need to see an increase in funding for the military before the Senate begins debating the budget bill for 2021 in July. It is believed that Secretary of Defense Joel Andino will not ask for a funding increase for weapons, but will ask for a funding increase for soldiers pay and for military hospitals.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good morning and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Evangelina Berganza and here is all the latest news from Cojedes!

Our top story this morning, shock and awe were the only two words capable of being used this morning as the Head of the Bank of the Plains (Jefe del Banco de las Llanuras in Cojedan), Luciano Rodriguez was arrested on charges of stealing money from the clients. The bank, which is primarily located in Mendoza and La Rioja Provinces, confirmed this morning that Mr. Rodriguez had embezzled nearly ₳42,000,000 from clients in both provinces. An investigation, which was launched by Mendoza police earlier this year, found that the true amount of embezzled funds could be closer to ₳100,000,000. Mendoza Police arrested Mr. Rodriguez at the headquarters of the bank this morning and charged him with several counts, with the primary being embezzlement, grand larceny, and betraying the public trust. At his arraignment, the prosecution asked for a minimum bail of ₳200,000,000, but the judge went even further to deny bail and sent the former bank executive to be in isolation until trial. A statement from the Bank of the Plains apologized to all its customers for what had happened and ensured that they would get their money back. The Federal Bank has guaranteed that it will review the records and send the money to the customers of the Bank of the Plains as soon as it completes the investigation. Cecilia Collazo has been appointed Interim Executive President for the time given, but could become a full time position in the future as long as she did not cooperate with Mr. Rodriguez.

It is graduation time across the Republic and people are finding many ways to celebrate this tremendous occasion. According to a release from the Department of Education, it is expected that over 1 million Cojedans will graduate this year, not including foreign exchange students at Universities across the nation. It is estimated that the republic could see 1.2 million people total graduate from schools this year, the largest the nation has seen since the mid-1950s. President Andrea Lacasa is expected to give the commencement address this weekend at the University of Rosario, while First Vice President Aitana Morterero will return to her home province of Corrientes and give the commencement address at Corrientes State University. It is reported by the education department that there is no clear majority on which field the graduates will go into, but that the major degrees being awarded include: Health Professions, Education, Engineering, Architecture, and Law. In a surprise announcement, the Secretary of Education, Diego Alejandro Andrade, under the guidance of the President and the passage of the Mina Act, named after professors Samantha and Eduarda Mina, declared that 29% of the financial aid loans that students owe will be wrote off. According to the secretary, "These kids have completed tremendous work to get to where they are today. The House and Senate feel that it was time to make a change in the way we structure our aid to the people that attend our universities. This year, we are removing 29% of the financial aid loans that students will have to pay back to the nation to give them a little help as they begin their new future. As well, the 6 month waiting period for paying back loans has been increased to 8 months, though students are allowed to pay whenever." Secretary Andrade also said that the Cojedan Republic will begin to pay at least 15% of all tuition costs of students if they are attending a state run college, university, trade school, or community college beginning next year after the passage of the Cojedan Budget and funding granted by the Mina Act.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24. We will see you next time!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Evangelina Berganza and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, the National Council of Security and Defense has begun its annual meeting and, according to several sources, the meeting has so far taken off, with several new ideas presented and the Council seems to be resolute on wanting to increase the Defense budget to ensure more pay for soldiers, better hospital access, and to keep the military equipped with the latest weapons. We spoke to Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Carmen Alarcon, who informed us that there has been several agreements on the building of several new ships and increase in naval aircraft. "We are pleased to announce 'Naval Project 2030' which will be an increase in the number of Cojedan naval power by the year 2030. The first steps have already begun, especially in regards to the Intrépida class Fast Attack Craft, which cost 150 million pesos per unit. The government has determined that the Fast Attack Craft are very reliable ships and are best used for anti-piracy, protecting ferries crossing the Naesser Sea, and stopping drug smuggling operations. As of 4th April, we have begun the construction of seven new Intrépida class Fast Attack Craft, with 4 being built here in Heravion. We expect to have a total of 15 Intrépida class FAC's by 2030. Other ships that we will also have an increase in production of include: La Rioja and Mendoza Class Cruisers, Belmonte and Córdoba Class Corvettes, and Santiago Del Estero & Rosario Class Destroyers." The government also announced that the 2 San Luis Class Destroyers being built and the 2 Santiago Class Destroyers being built had been completed. They will be called the following: RCN Resistencia and RCN Juan Sebastián Remero (San Luis Class); RCN Loreto and RCN Garza (Santiago Class).

In other news, the Department of Treasury announced this morning that its investigation into the Bank of the Plains had discovered that ₳49,000,000 had been stolen from over 4,000 customers. The official total of money stolen, according to the Treasury Department, equaled to ₳49,014,825.93. According to Treasury Secretary Celeste Romero, the amount of money stolen is the second greatest heist in Cojedan history. "This is something we have not seen since the 90's. In 1990's, over ₳1,000,000,000 was stolen from accounts all across the nation by the socialist who had taken control of the country. This occurred after the Third Civil War began and the socialists in power knew that their time remaining was short. They used the money to potentially buy weapons from other countries and to also use the money for their own purposes, which did at times include hookers and alcohol. The government was able to claim roughly ₳100,000,000 back from the socialists but the remainder of the money was never seen again and the government had to make a big expenditure of returning the money to those who had it stolen from them. The country has not seen a heist like this since then and we have found that the money has mostly remained in accounts owned by Mr. Rodriguez and we believe that we can return it to the people." The Treasury Department also mentioned that they believe the reason these heists have not occurred is that bank security is much higher than it used to be and that they believed this only occurred by the Bank of the Plains is a lower protected bank compared to the others Central Cojedes.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good morning and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Christian Semprún and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story this morning, members of the elite 4th Amphibious Commandos Group attacked a cargo ship off the coast of Santiago del Estero Province early this morning after it was discovered that a human trafficking operation was taking place, headed by gang Reyes de Oro. The information that the operation was going on was revealed to the soldiers by an informant who will, per Cojedan law, not be named. According to the informant, the gang had taken 40 people and were planning to sell them to the highest bidder for whatever their pleasure was. The ship, which has been identified as container ship Costa Sur, was heading for the port city of Villa Mercedes in San Luis Province. Using ships from the Navy and Coast Guard, as well as Navy helicopters and drones, the 4th Amphibious Commandos Group boarded the ship and quickly took down the gang, as well are recovered the hostages. We spoke with a member of the 4th ACP who told us that they were proud of the mission accomplished and that one of their soldiers took a hit during the fighting but was expected to completely recover. President Lacasa thanked the soldiers for their bravery and applauded their efforts. "The 4th ACP is set aside from the rest of the special forces of Cojedes. They truly are protecting the people no matter what the cost. They are an amazing unit and we are truly proud of them." It is believed that the 4th ACP has rescued over 500 people who would have been sold into sex slavery or traded for work.

In other news, the National Council of Security and Defense has completed its annual meeting and announced that it will ask for a 1%-to-2% increase in the military budget for 2021. The decision came after the weekend meeting in Rosario between the heads of each Military Branch and members of the Government, including the heads of the National Assembly, Members of the Cabinet, and the President and Vice Presidents. According to a press release, the NCSD asked for the increase in funding for several reasons, but the most important on the list was to provide better funding for veterans and current military members to receive the healthcare attention that they desperately need. "We are of one mind that the soldiers that serve our great country need better care and medical attention. We are asking the government to increase our funding so we can ensure that they get better attention." The Council also agreed that the budget would be increased to help fund the construction of more ships and more military equipment across all branches. The Council had said that they intend to ensure there is funding for the Navy and for the Army to continue to build up new ships and other equipment. "The Army has been under funded in recent years because the Navy has been receiving twice the funding if not more for new equipment. We are hoping we can change that quickly and get to building new tanks and other weapons."

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Christian Semprún and here is all the latest from Cojedes!

We first go to a breaking news story from Heravion where Governor Alejandro Sarmiento and Second Vice President Antonia Navarro are preparing to speak.

Governor Sarmiento: "Thank you all for joining us tonight. As you all know by now, Heravion is facing one of the worst challenges we have ever faced. For the past 5 years, we have seen a growing increase in the use of opioids, as well as the number of overdoses and deaths from the use of these drugs. We have tried several ways to end the crisis and it seems that every time we complete one raid on a gang or factory, that another one pops up. It has become nearly impossible to complete the task and the time has come that we call on the federal government to fully intervene in the crisis. I am thankful to have Second VP Antonia Navarro join me tonight and to bring people up to date on the actions the federal government will be taking soon."

VP Navarro: "Thank you Governor. Ladies and gentlemen, people of Heravion: We are facing the deadliest trials our nation has ever faced. The government of Heravion have done all that they can to protect the citizens of this great province and they are now struggling to keep up. After consulting with Governor Sarmiento, we have reached several conclusions. Beginning next week, 1,200 troops from the Cojedan National Guard will be deployed to Heravion Province to begin aiding Heravion Provincial Guard and Heravion State Police, as well as local officials, to help bring a faster end to the crisis. Second, at the recommendation of the National Assembly and by discussion with the Justice Department, the Cojedan government announces that it will be filing lawsuits against Cojedan pharmaceutical companies Materia and Sol (Sun) Health Industries, for pushing doctors to push these opioids on the people while threatening to remove their backing if said doctors would not push the medicine. It is unfortunate that it has had to come to this and we hope to remedy the situation shortly in the future. We will be taking Materia and Sol Health Industries to the Supreme Court in the next coming weeks for hearings and plan to have the full trial hopefully going by mid-September. The Federal Government, especially our President, would like to applaud Governor Sarmiento for the efforts he has made over the years and promises our full backing for the Governor."

Governor Sarmiento: "Thank you Madam Vice President. I thank you for granting your support and for delivering the message from the federal government. After consultation with the provincial cabinet and by the passage of Provincial Assembly Bill 482/2020, the decision has been made to declare a State of Emergency in the Province of Heravion, specifically a Health Emergency in the province as we deal with the ongoing drug crisis. The State of Emergency grants the National Guard, the Provincial Guard, State Police, and local police to search homes and property of those with suspected ties to the drug ring in Heravion without need for a search warrant. Also, as per the declaration, the Heravion Provincial Guard will deploy in cooperation with the Cojedan Navy to the island of Valdilar off the coast of Heravion, to stop the drugs from being allowed to come into the province through this checkpoint. We believe that the customs officers on Valdilar have overlooked the ships that come by and have not done the checks that they are supposed to be doing properly. The Provincial Guard will arrive on Valdilar in the coming days and will be responsible for control of the island and the checking of ships that come into our ports. We thank the people for their cooperation during this tough time and we wish all the best to the soldiers and police who will be helping us in these trying time."

President Andrea Lacasa was in the city of Raphael today for the red ribbon ceremony, declaring the opening of City Hall and the District Court Building, as well as attending the opening of several apartment complexes in the city. The construction of the planned city, which began in 2017 in Corrientes Province, has had some hurdles recently, specifically in regards to the amount of rain that the province has seen in the past 8 months. However, the city has made great strides and has officially opened 15 apartment complexes in the city center, has completed construction of a 2,000 bed hospital, 50% completion on a local state university, and has opened the completed portions of the local metro, which will eventually carry people from Raphael to Rosario and to the provincial Capital, Corrientes. In a speech given by President Lacasa on the steps of City Hall, the President commended the work of the builders and their valiance in opening the city as quickly as they have and to ensure safety standards were kept. She also stated that there was one major change to the planning of the city. "After consulting with the National Assembly, the Department of Transportation, and the Corrientes Provincial Administration, it has been determined that the electric rail line in Corrientes Province will be expanded to the city of Raphael and that Raphael will be a stop on the new high speed rail, which has been under construction since July of last year thanks to the technology granted to us by our allies in Goyanes. We are proud to include this city as a stop along the way and can't wait to unveil the overall plan for the great city." If things go to plan, the city of Raphael will be completely open in 2029. Currently, 27.56% of the apartments in Raphael have been leased, 4% more than was expected by the government report.

Our final story for the evening, Governor Jonathan Correa of Córdoba Province has officially been re-elected in a landslide victory, winning 72% of the vote, to the Liberal Party Candidates 24%, with all remaining candidates taking the other 4%. Correa, who has been popular for keeping taxes low in the province, erasing student debt owned by the province, and passing incentives to encourage teens and young adults to study and work in the province. Governor Correa is the only Governor that is not aligned to any political party, though he is considered to be a conservative and closely aligned with the National Conservative Union. In conjunction with the Gubernatorial election, the Provincial House of Representatives and Senate also held their elections, with the NCU gaining 4 seats in the House and 7 seats in the Senate, increasing their majority in both houses. The Liberal Party lost 12 seats in the house and 10 seats in the Senate, losing the other 8 in the House to a combination of Independents, Nueva Democracia, and the Freedom Party, which picked up its first seats since losing all seats in the 2002 Provincial Election.

That is all we have for now! Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Christian Semprún and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story tonight, the Provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos are officially under a State of Emergency as of this morning. Governors Alexander Amengual of Corrientes and Cristina Corazón of Entre Ríos Province announced that they were both issuing a state of emergency following increased rains over the past couple days that have caused the Cauquegena River to overflow and cause flood damage to many major areas. Corazón has stated that her province has seen major flooding in the Diamante Region, with the city of Diamante taking on over 4 feet of water within 24 hours. According to reports from the Southern Weather Service, which is responsible for Corrientes and Entre Ríos, the city of Diamante will soon have over 10 feet of water on the streets of the city. In Corrientes, damage has been severely seen in the Bella Vista Region, which has seen several cities in the region flooded. Both the Region of Diamante and Bella Vista have been ordered evacuated and President Andrea Lacasa has issued a federal emergency declaration for the two provinces. We spoke with Governor Corazón who told us, "It wasn't long after that I issued the state of emergency order that the Cuaquegena River began to overflow and flood the city of Diamante. People were not able to evacuate as quickly because of the main roads out of the city being shut down. The news had expected that we would have at least 2 hours before the river crested, but the failure of the dam at Concordia, people only had a few minutes to get out before the situation became dire. We have decided to deploy the Entre Ríos State Guard, Entre Ríos Police Force, and attachments from the National Guard to rescue people trapped in Diamante by use of helicopters and by deploying trucks to the closest areas possible without putting soldiers, police, and civilians in harms way." From all of us at Cojedes 24, our thoughts and prayers are with the people in Corrientes and Entre Ríos. We will continue to update you as soon as news is available.

A snap-election for the 8th House of Representatives Seat for San Juan Province was held today and the result stunned people throughout the country. The 8th District, which has since 1922 been in the hands of the Liberal Party of Cojedes, was flipped today by NCU candidate Constanza Ruiz Alguacil, the great-granddaughter of former Cojedan President Diego Isidoro Alguacil, who served as President for the majority of the Fascist War in Cojedes. In a stunning result, Representative-elect Alguacil won with 52%-48%, the most narrow snap-election that has occurred in recent times, but a major victory for the NCU. In a speech given after the results were announced, Alguacil said the following, "The people of San Juan have realized that the Liberal Party has failed to serve them. They have lost their mandate and the people are finally realizing that it is the National Conservative Union that will look out for them and lead them into the future. We will fight for you in the halls of the National Assembly in Rosario and we will ensure that the promises I gave to you on the trail are met!" During her campaign, Alguacil had promised swift business reform for the more rural areas, granting easier access to loans for small business owners and for start-up businesses, as well as lowering healthcare costs throughout the nation that, even with the government negotiating with major hospitals and insurance companies, continues to increase in rural areas.

Our final story of the evening, Representative and former Vice President Valentina Perón has proposed the government open Phase III of the Rosario Initiative. Following the success of Phase I and the near completion of Phase II, Representative Perón presented a bill, sponsored by 46 Representatives including Perón, to have the government begin Phase III. According to the current structure of the Rosario Initiative, Phase III will be the longest phase and will involve construction and re-construction projects on the nations infrastructure, the changing of educational laws to ensure that more students have access to better education, as well as including the expansion of the high speed rail throughout the majority of the nation, and the growth of the electric rail lines that connect several cities around the country. Phase III will also expand the ferry service that goes between Cojedes and Goyanes, including the increase of ferries available and transporting more people between the two nations. Phase III is also expected to be the costliest of all the Phases of the Rosario Initiative. According to Perón, it is expected that Phase III will run the nation a total of 286 billion pesos over the course of the Phase, which will last until 2026 (with the Rosario Initiative being expanded into the 2040s as part of the Cojedes Renewal 2050), with at least 30 billion pesos being granted to the expansion of the high speed rail system, while over 150 billion pesos will go to build or update the nations other infrastructure (specifically airports, roads, electric rail, public services, etc.). It is expected that the bill will pass the House of Representatives during tomorrow's session.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24! Have a good night.

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Alonso Montes and here is the news from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, Governor Cristina Corazón of Entre Ríos Province has issued an order for the immediate evacuation of the region of Nogoyá, following the spread of widespread flooding from the Diamante Region and into the Nogoyá Region. The Cauquegena River has officially risen 10 feet over its banks, with the entire Diamante and Nogoyá Regions being declared as a disaster area. According to a statement from the Governor, people who are unable to escape must seek higher ground and will be able to be evacuated once the Air Force and National Guard can get into the region. In Corrientes, Governor Amengual had to issue a similar order in the Mercedes Region, declaring it to be a disaster zone and warning people to evacuate as soon as possible. According to weather reports from the National Weather Institute, the rain is expected to subside on Monday, which may provide some relief to the provinces. Governor Amengual has also ordered the evacuation of San Cosme and Esquina Regions, which the weather service says may see minor flooding in the coming days. Governor Amengual spoke directly to the people declaring, "The time to evacuate is now. Do not wait. Go North into Mendoza Province or go across the Unity Bridge into Rosario." President Lacasa has issued a disaster declaration for Nogoyá Region and has called on the House and Senate to pass legislation to provide relief to these areas. According to reports from the government, the economic impact from this disaster will cost up to 9.4 billion pesos, including impact to the crops in the area.

In other news, the bill presented yesterday by House Representative and former Vice President Valentina Perón to officially open Phase III of the Rosario Initiative has been passed by the House in a vote of 348-10-6. During the second reading of the bill, which occurred in the early afternoon, Representative Perón encouraged members of the House that the time was now to begin the next stage. "We have been waiting for this time ever since 2000. Our nation has put their faith in us to get them into the future with the promises made by the late Evita Arias, Mother of Modern Cojedes. We will continue to uphold her values, the values that run through the blood of every Cojedan. We will get this done for the Cojedan people. The time is now! Do not delay. Pass this bill!" The speech was met with cheers throughout the entire House floor, including from some members of the Liberal Party, many of whom joined in voting in favor of the bill. Speaker Catalina Jose Maria Estávez proudly announced the result of the vote, in which she had also voted in favor, and declared it a joyous day for the Republic. "We are going to keep the promises we kept to our constituents when they voted us on and I call on the Senate to immediately pass this bill!" Senate Chairman Nestor Estávez informed the Senate that the first reading will occur on Monday and that they will vote on the bill no later than Thursday. President Andrea Lacasa has already stated she will sign the bill as soon as it arrives on her desk.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! My name is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, flooding in Corrientes and Entre Ríos Provinces has gotten much worse overnight, with the majority of western Corrientes and eastern Entre Ríos being ordered to evacuate. The flooding, which has now created a major disaster situation, has become substantially worse in the past 24 hours, due to worsening weather conditions, specifically over 4.5 inches of rain falling in the past 24 hours. The city of Entre Ríos, which is in the Eastern portion of the Province, was ordered evacuated this morning, making it the first time since 1943 that a provincial capital has been evacuated. Governor Cristina Corazón told reporters that she was heeding the warning of meteorologists and would be evacuating to neighboring La Rioja Province, where the majority of people in her province have been evacuating to. President Andrea Lacasa has ordered for the Cojedan Army and Air Force, as well as regiments from the Gendarmerie to be sent into the province to rescue people in the disaster zone. According to reports from the government, total cost of damage currently sits at a little over 20 billion pesos, making It the second worst natural disaster in Cojedan history.

According to a government dossier released early this morning, Juan Fernandez, son of the late President Caleb Fernandez, is slated to become a special advisor to President Andrea Lacasa. The document, which was given to the press early this morning, stated that Juan would become an advisor with the specialty of healthcare. Juan, who is a doctor, responded to questions from his house this morning, telling the press he was pleased to be given this opportunity. "President Lacasa has fought for doctors and medical professionals to receive better equipment and pay, while also insuring that the people of the country get the best medical attention at affordable prices. I applaud her efforts and am proud that I will be able to join her staff and better serve the people of Cojedes." Juan Fernandez stated in his press conference that he would fight for better and more affordable healthcare and would discuss the possibility of forming a universal healthcare system within the country, but promised that these efforts could fall of deaf ears in some circles.

In other news, former President Juan Andrés Berrocal is in the hospital following a suicide attempt in his cell. Members of the Federal Police informed the government and the press this morning that the former President, who was arrested in 2018 on corruption charges, had tried to hang himself in his cell, and when that didn't work, attempted to slit his wrist, but was stopped by a guard who had came by after hearing shouting from the a nearby cell. The former President was taken to a hospital in an undisclosed location with some cut marks on his arms and markings around the neck to ensure that there was no major damage to the former leader. According to the corrections officers, the attempt occurred shortly after midnight and the doctors state that the former President will recover from the attempt. "Had we been fully on guard, we would have known better than to allow Berrocal to attempt this on his own. We will be increasing security around the former leader and will ensure that he is unable to attempt this again." Berrocal's parents Alejandro and Anastasia have released a statement saying they are deeply hurt that their son would attempt suicide and that they ask President Lacasa to move their son to a mental health facility to receive treatment before returning him to prison.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, much relief has come for the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos Provinces as rain has finally stopped falling and the flooding has stopped going further than was originally expected. According to a press release from Entre Ríos officials, flooding has overtaken all the major roads in the city and there is massive structural damage, mostly water being in the majority of buildings, but some buildings have suffered collapsed walls and fires caused by water leaking into the electric lines of several buildings. In Corrientes Province the majority of water from the Cauquegena River has headed into reservoirs throughout the province or has been diverted into smaller lakes throughout the province. President Andrea Lacasa travelled to the city of Mendoza this morning where she met with government officials from Corrientes and Entre Ríos Province and promised to visit the disaster area once it was deemed safe. According to reports from the government in Entre Ríos, the flooding is expected to subside in the next few days and the water will also soon flow into reservoirs or a hydroelectric plant in the eastern part of the province. According to recent government reports, the nations of Hessunland, Midir, and Valland have pledged aid to the country in cleanup and emergency aid efforts. Adelgonda Cabello, Secretary of Emergency Situations, has put out a call to several other nations for aid and has promised we will take whatever people can send. Cabello has travelled to Corrientes and viewed the damage by means of helicopter. She said, "It was like there was no land for miles. All you could see was water covering what should be fields lush with vegetables. Corrientes has taken a major hit and many will be affected by this disaster. Damage currently sits at 22 billion pesos, the majority coming from the expected impact on the agriculture industry." Secretary of Agriculture Aynia Timolova has informed the nation that farmers in these provinces will be receiving funding from the government due to the triggering of a federal emergency disaster fund. The RCN Esperanza del Mar has been sent in to help assist those who may be injured.

In other news, Associate Justice of the Constitutional Court Vivian Rasgado has officially ruled in the case of Republic of Cojedes v. Province of San Luis. Following several weeks of oral arguments and the testimony of nearly two hundred witnesses, Justice Rasgado has officially ruled that the Province of San Luis was in the wrong and was in violation of the constitution by refusing to allow people that had reached the age of 16 to vote. In her decision, the justice said, "The Constitution of Cojedes has always been the same since its inception. People of the age of 16, who do not have any felonies, are allowed under the law to vote. This has always been accepted throughout the country and no province has the right to infringe upon these rights." The Constitutional Court has ruled that the province must pay the legal fees of those who brought the case before the Constitutional Court and will also be responsible for paying a sum to those who were refused the ability to vote. According to the case records, 284 people between the ages of 16 and 17 were refused the right to vote when they appeared at polling precincts throughout the province. The case is the first of its kind to ever occur in the history of Cojedes as the provinces have always accepted that those of the appropriate age can vote. Governor Benito Campos of San Luis, who was elected after this situation occurred, called the decision fair and announced he would do whatever he could in his power to support the right of those who have reached legal age to vote.

That is all we have for now. Thank you for joining us here at Cojedes 24!

This is a breaking news story from Cojedes 24. We go live to the North Wing of the Casa Rosada (Pink House) where President Andrea Lacasa is about to address the nation.

Salón_Blanco.jpg

Andrea Lacasa:

"Good evening. Tonight, I speak to you directly from the Casa Rosada. I speak to you not only as your President, but as a citizen of our great Republic. I know that these are stressful times for all and I know how many of you feel. But tonight, I want to take a moment and speak directly to the heart of each of you. As in times past, our leaders have rallied the people and that is what I intend to do tonight. I hope that by the end of this speech you will be motivated to take action and do what is in the right interest of the nation and its people. That you will reach out and help your brethren throughout our country. That you will pray for one another and provide support for each other. This is my sincere hope. Now, let us delve into the purpose of this address."

"First, I would like to begin by addressing the situation in the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos. We have received good news from the Governors of both provinces, informing us that the rain has subsided and that the waters are beginning to recede. This news brings us great joy and it should bring joy to the hearts of people who have loved ones in the area. With this news, the government has determined that we will begin sending the Army and detachments from the National Guard into both provinces to help in the cleanup efforts. We are proud to announce that we have received correspondence from the government leaders in Hessunland, Syrixia, Valland, Midir, and Goyanes, all of which have promised to send aid to the Republic in some form. The government is working hard with these nations to ensure that their supplies get to the people who need it the most. We have also contacted the government in Andrenne to discuss potentially receiving aid from our neighbors to the South. This is but just the first step in a long path to recovery. The sad news is this: the road to recovery will not be an easy one and it will not be a short one. According to government reports, there has been over 22 billion pesos in damage done between the two provinces, with Entre Ríos receiving the worst blow of the two. But this will not deter us. Your government is committed to making a lasting impact in the region and to ensure the safety and well-being of all of its citizens, especially in Corrientes and Entre Ríos. Tonight, I call on the House and Senate to pass emergency legislation to support the people in these provinces and give them the resources they need. I ask the government to pass legislation amounting to 45 billion pesos, 24 billion to be towards disaster relief and reconstruction, with the remainder going to those who have been affected by this disaster. To the people in Corrientes and Entre Ríos Province I say this to you, we are with you. We are one people. We will help you and we will work together to get through this as one nation. Do not give up on hope, for we will not give up on you!"

"Secondly, I would like to discuss the Cojedes Renewal 2050 Project. I am proud that I have finally been able to take the lead on this project that was started by President Evita Arias, the Mother of Modern Cojedes. This project was her vision for how she would want Cojedes to look like in 2050 and how we could better prosper our nation to the standards it was under President Antonio Suarez. Today, I am pleased to say that we are living up to the expectations that President Arias had for our nation. In the past twenty years, we have made such amazing progress and that is all done because of the will and drive of the people that make our country great. Together, we are making a difference in our country, one that will make things better for future generations. As part of Cojedes Renewal 2050, the government has pledged to make our nation fully self-sufficient on oil and natural gas, as well as having the country using 50% renewable energy sources by 2050. I am pleased to say that we are on track to these goals. By the end of the year, Cojedes will no longer have to rely on imports from other country for our oil and gas. We have come such a long way to the point we are now able to export gas to other nations. As well, we are continuing our promise to have renewable resources by 2050. Currently, 32% of Cojedan energy comes from renewable energy sources, the majority of this coming for our hydroelectric power plants and from our solar farms. President Arias would be very pleased with that. But, that is not all that we have pledged to do. By 2050, Cojedes will have completely modernized our Navy to ensure that we have an amazing fleet ready to deal with whatever tasks come our way. We also plan to introduce legislation later this year to make tertiary education free to all Cojedan citizens and a way to make it easier to pay off student loans without high interest penalties. As well, we plan to introduce universal healthcare legislation and have the system in place by the year 2032, the timeframe when Phase V of the Cojedes Renewal 2050 is set to begin. United, we will change the future. We are making a way for our people and we will continue this for years to come."

"Next, I would like to bring to light the opioid crisis that is occurring in Heravion Province. This crisis, which has taken the lives of many who have become addicted, and even the lives of several police and military workers, has fallen on deaf ears throughout the past several years and has gotten to a point it never should have. Earlier this month, we announced the intention to go after those who had pushed doctors to prescribe these deadly drugs to the people of the province and we are keeping to that promise. Earlier today, the Supreme Court signed an arrest warrant for Materia CEO Benito Illescas and Sol (Sun) Health Industries CEO Micaela Martinez on the basis of bribery and accessory to murder on nearly 1,582 counts. As well, the Medical Board of Heravion Province has removed 127 doctors from practice for pushing the medicine and not reporting the bribery or threats made by the two companies to the proper authorities. While both CEO's deny any wrongdoing in the situation and are using whatever legal pretense that can to get out of this, I tell the families of Heravion that you will have justice for your children, for your parents, for your friends and relatives that you have lost because of this crisis. The government is committed to helping the people of the province get the much aided attention they deserve and will be sending in doctors and counselors to help the people overcome this issue. We have decided to recall 200 National Guard troops who were in the province and the remainder will be used to fight back against the drugs lords in power in the province and to stop drugs from coming into the city from the coast. Tonight, I call on the government to pass legislation to ensure that those who have committed these crimes will be held accountable and that this will not happen again somewhere in the future."

"Lastly, I would like to highlight the mental health crisis that our nation is facing. As many of you know, earlier this week former President Juan Berrocal attempted to take his life from his prison cell. While some in the government and public may be wishing he succeeded, it shows that, at even the highest political level, there is a mental health situation that must be taken care of. I have met with some of the nations leading psychiatrist and psychologist to see what we can possibly do to help curve this crisis and they have all led to one explanation: we need to care more for each other. The Cojedan people have also been known around the world for being a people who cares for their neighbors and for their families, but we have severely missed the mark when it comes to mental health. According to some of our leading psychiatrist, the main thing people need is someone who will listen to them. I feel many of us have missed that mark and have ignored the actual situation or brushed it under the rug. It is with much sadness that I say that many have felt the only resolve is to end their life and this has been a growing trend in recent years. We need to do more to help end this severe crisis. That is why I am calling on the government to pass legislation that requires insurance companies to cover the costs of therapy sessions and to make it easier to access this much needed healthcare necessity. While this may be hard for many to realize, we must all come to the conclusion that we must do better to help people who are going through these tough times. If this means checking in more on people, then do it. It doesn't take much to make a person have a better day. Look in on one another and make sure you can be there for someone when you really need it."

"Finally, I would like to end with a message of hope. I know this will seem quite evident from many, but we have come such a long way in the past 20 years since the end of the Socialist Civil War. We have made such a better nation for ourselves and for our descendants and we are closing in on several major milestones. Together, we are making the future much brighter for all the people that will call our nation home. I would like to end with a prayer. Please join with me. "Almighty God, our ever present help. We thank you this day for the many blessings you have bestowed upon our nation. We thank you for giving us another day of life and a hope for a brighter tomorrow. We are thankful for the things You have done and the things You will do. We thank you for forgiving us our sins, though we are not worthy of such a blessing. We praise You for being the God who will save those who call upon Him and for the one Who brings light to the darkness. Oh Lord, be with us as we go into the future. Stand beside us Almighty God. Lead us back to You and never let us go. In the name of the Holy One, Amen." Together my friends, we are making a better nation. Together, we are united in love for our nation. Together, we are making a brighter tomorrow for our people. En unión y libertad*, we can make a brighter future for all. Thank you for joining me tonight. God bless and protect our great nation. God bless you all. And God bless the Republic of Cojedes!"

End Broadcast.

Good evening and welcome to Cojedes 24! This is Nico Alvarado and here is the latest from Cojedes!

Our top story this evening, 5 soldiers of the Cojedan National Guard are dead after an incident near the island of Valdilar, which has been occupied by the National Guard to help curb the drug crisis in Heravion. The incident began around 10 this morning when reports of shots fired were echoed throughout radios on the mainland. According to reports, a group of 25 vigilantes boarded several ships and crossed over to the island, with several different assault rifles, pistols, and even some grenades, and began to attack the island. The National Guard immediately responded to the people who were attacking and the fight lasted for over 4 hours. In the end, 14 of the attackers were killed and the remainder were arrested. The National Guard reported 5 casualties with 3 others being injured, one of whom is in critical condition. Governor Diego Alejandro Sarmiento condemned the attack on the island and called for justice to be served for the 5 dead National Guard soldiers. "These soldiers are here serving their country and doing the job they were asked to do. They did not know that they were going to be involved in fighting on the island and believed they were only going to be ensuring drugs did not cross into the country. They did not deserve to die and I call on the Attorney General of Heravion to act swiftly." President Andrea Lacasa condemned the attack on the National Guard and offered her deepest condolences.

In other news, flooding in the provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos has officially subsided and people are starting to return to life as normal. Relief efforts are underway in both provinces as the Governors of both provinces have returned to their respective capital cities. According to a report from the government, the damage has amounted to roughly 22 billion pesos and the government has passed a 45 billion peso emergency relief bill, 24 billion of which will be for recovery efforts and the remainder will go to helping business owners and those affected by the virus. The Government of Entre Ríos Province has also passed an emergency bill to provide funding for rebuilding and for business owners, as well as passing a bill to ensure people still receive pay during these trying times. According to a government report, relief support has arrived from Valland, Midir, Syrixia, Hessunland, and Goyanes and is being distributed to the most affected areas. According to Governor Amengual of Corrientes, "We are very thankful for the support we are receiving from our allies. We thank them for their relief supplies and ensure they will be distributed to the most needed areas." Our top story this evening, relief efforts are underway in the Provinces of Corrientes and Entre Ríos as President Andrea Lacasa has arrived in Corrientes for talks with Governor Amengual and other provincial and local officials. So far, roughly 13,750 members of the Cojedan Armed Forces and the National Guard have been deployed to the two provinces to aid in relief efforts, with an extra 4,000 called up in case the need arises. It has also been reported that several detachments of the National Police Service have also been sent to the two provinces, amounting to 1,250 in Corrientes and 765 in Entre Ríos to maintain order while local people help in cleanup efforts and to also help guide people back to their homes safely. According to government reports, President Lacasa is meeting with Governor Amengual to discuss where best the Cojedan government can best distribute relief supplies to ensure that the most affected areas receive the necessary resources first. The Governor has stated that Bella Vista will be the region in most need of resources, though the governor has been adamant on sending resources to Entre Ríos Province, which has been affected more severely than Corrientes. It is expected that President Lacasa will fly to Entre Ríos on Thursday to meet with Governor Cristina Corazón. The current death toll from the flooding sits at 781, with the expected number to be close to, if not exceeding, 1,000.

Juan Fernandez, the son of the late President Caleb Fernandez, officially began his duties as Special Health Advisor to the President this week, with his first meeting with the President lasting over three hours on Monday. According to official reports, the meeting between the two went very well and President Lacasa seemed to be interested in moving forward with plans to opening dialogue for beginning a universal healthcare system within Cojedes. Another major focal point in their conversation was rural healthcare and the need for more hospitals in more rural areas, rather than forcing people to drive long trips, which typically cause people to go without healthcare. President Lacasa addressed this meeting in her press conference later that day, calling them a historic step in the Cojedan health system. President Lacasa also announced in the same press conference that she would be appointing Cristiano Xirau, the great-grandson of former President Xavier Xirau, to become Counselor to the President, becoming the first Xirau to be in an executive level position since the former President left office.

Our final story for the night, the Province of Tucumán has held its first regional election since 2014 and the results are now in. In a surprise to many at Cojedes 24 and across the nation, Miguel Zoido Covarrubias has been re-elected as Governor of the Province with 58% of the populace voting in his favor. The result came as a shock to many, but not as a surprise to others who said that, in recent weeks, the Governor had fought hard by campaigning across the province and truly listening to the people to gain this majority. In the Regional Assembly of Tucumán, the National Conservative Union gained a total of 29 seats between both the House and the Senate, with the Liberal Party losing a net total of 32 seats, while the Nuevo Democracia gained its first ever foothold in the Province, taking 4 seats in the House. In local elections throughout the province, the National Conservative Union took control of 52% of the local council seats and mayoral positions, while the remainder were divided between the Liberal Party, Nuevo Democracia, Christian Democrats, and Independents. Governor Covarrubias praised the people for turning out to vote and making their voices heard. "Today, you turned out in full force. We have reports that over 72% of our provinces voting population turned out. This is the highest we have had in years. We thank you for coming out to support us and giving us a mandate for another six years to lead this great province in the direction you have called for us to!" President Andrea Lacasa praised the people of Tucumán for going to the polls and for electing a NCU majority government, the latest string of victories for the coalition.

The government announced completion of the plant back in January and ordered testing to be run on the facility by top Department of Energy workers before the government would allow it to open. After several months of work and testing, the facility officially came online this morning by order of Secretary Covarrubias. We are proud of the efforts that have been made in opening this facility and look forward to the great work that is ahead." According to the government, the facility will account for over half of all Cojedan electricity made from nuclear power, and will account for roughly 20% Cojedan energy overall by the end of the year. The San Martín Nuclear Power Facility is the 8th* Nuclear Power Facility in Cojedes, and the first to be fully used for energy, rather than for the creation of nuclear weapons.
