Members of the DU,

Today, I bring before the Council the subject of the rise of the National Sonacist Party in Rhuvanland. Now Rhuvanland is not a member of this Union, and the Nazo Party was legitimately elected as far as observer reports go, but I fear (and many others fear) that his party's ideology has elements that are fascist by nature, opposed to human rights conventions as most members represented see it.

I wish to start a dialogue on the matter, before it's too late. There may be no threat a tall, but if there is, it would do us well to identify it early. I'm sure your government's intelligence communities have reported Rhuvanland's slight militarization.

My question for the honorable delegations is, what are your government's opinions on this matter, and what is the DU's preferred course of action?

The events around Rhuvanland are of great concern to the Kannexan Reich, as a fellow Germanic nation. The authoritarian nature of the Nazo regime is ultimately self-destructive and detrimental to the stability of the Rhuvish nation. We have seen the media and public life in Rhuvanland taken over by the Nazos. To the nations of the Democratic Union and indeed to many others, the undemocratic conduct of the Rhuvish government is concerning. But we must stress against abandoning our senses, ladies and gentlemen! The Rhuvish still allow freedom of movement. Many Rhuvish dissenters have immigrated to the Kannexan Reich already. We have no evidence to suggest that the current Rhuvish regime is committing any crimes or campaigns of terror against the populace on the scale of its communist predecessor. No human rights are being violated. We must not rush ourselves out of our senses and into the fires of war. We must respect national sovereignty. Thank you.

I appreciate the Kannexan delegation's concern, and I agree that Rhuvish sovereignty must be respected. But I also feel the need for the DU to open dialogue.

While I will not allow my own feelings to come into the mix I will explain the positions that have been adopted by the various governments of my realm.

Currently the UCC has been in a deadlock with not enough votes to sway the tone of the overall coalition in either way. This has given the Premier of the Coalition almost unilateral authority to act in the name of the Coalition on the matter. Leading to the Committee of the Reserve to start slowly baring transactions from Rhuvanland to our own banking system.

In my native Tala the Senate of the Republic has so far refused to take a stance but has started to craft an expedited system for the possibility of political refugees from the Rhuvish State. While I can't really elaborate on the full position of the Republics in full I can tell you that it looks at the new state with suspicion.

The IAF on the other hand. That is a different story. Assemblymen from all reaches of their land have been calling for the heads of the new regime, holding a steadfast belief that they are undemocratic and that they stole the election in some form be it through bribery, intimidation, or outright fraud. These calls have been everything from imposing sanctions, to imposing a localized blockade or even using agencies of the state to foster rebellion or even outright revolution.

I believe the Premier's actions are well-advised. Though the time for binding resolutions has not yet come, I highly recommend that Members attempt to halt investment and trade with Rhuvanland.

Perhaps a massive DU-organized embargo would cripple Rhuvanland without the need to fight. The Empire supports Plembobria's suggestion.

We have placed an economic embargo again Rhuvanland, and too recommend the same. Also, by this Union, a combination of sanctions, or even condemnations, could be an effective deterrence against more Rhuvish aggression and even human rights violations.
