ARCHIVED: Burning Mountains

As The commander of the peacekeeper squads got the message about what is going to happen in south Karandin, he amedietly sent out an order to evacuate the city. After the peacekeepers evacuated the remaining Cronaalis, they left the area.
The camps were absolutely full, one person next to another. There were a lot of wounded without proper treatment, so True Sebland decided to send aid. 5 cargo planes flew out of Mellant military airport. The planes contained meds, clothes, tents, food and drinking water.
The planes will land on a runway near the camps.

The SAFF troops in Karandin evacuated the city and moved into the safe vicinity outside the city. Meanwhile, SAFF troops continued to trek through the North and towards Rodon. With the city in sight, they began to move into a circle in order to surround the city.

SAFF troops suddenly converged on Rodon, ready to take out the last instrument of Nebulan tyranny over free people: North Cronaal. Then, it would all be over. The negotiations would seal the coffin of the Red Bloc. Cornering the North Cronaali military in multiple places in the outer city, they were eventually ready to converge on the inner city itself.
Meanwhile, the official offer was sent:

The Most Serene Republic of Syrixia is willing to negotiate with the Watching Nebula and end this conflict for the last time. Enough is enough. When the international community goes up in arms about the situation that is where we draw the line. It is time for peace.

Lara sat at a medium, rectangular desk placed in the center-back of the room at the top of the Eastern Kray Tower, one of the two that stood tall in a large plaza that also held the Grand Memorial Park which had yet to be opened. The few walls were a flat, plain white whilst the majority of the walls, and the ceiling, were made of solid glass, tinted blue to keep the sun from being blinding, that created a triangular-based pyramid which allowed vast streams of light to flow into the room from all directions. The carpet was a solid black and the furniture, such as chairs and small tables, were a solid white like the desk and/or made of glass. The sunlight was strong in Ganjarius, despite the large shadow of the looming mountain, and one could even see the dust fly through the air in whimsical paths.

Lara was stood up, a few centimeters behind her chair looking out of the large, expansive window that faced the city that was being renovated to be a modern utopia, almost ahead of the time. It was what she'd always wished, the towers to stand high and mighty with a clean, fresh look - something the rest of the incredibly dense cities did not have. She wanted away with the disgusting conditions of the stacked streets and the inefficient style of Smithworks and Balle, her hopes were to have technology thrive within the borders of Cronaal, whatever it might become... She gave a heavy sigh, her hopes were decades away and she doubted they'd be fulfilled, she expected a man in a black suit to be voted next and choose oil and money of the citizens of Cronaal and their development over the other nations of the region; it pained her to think of such things but it was quite true.

Taking that thought out of her head, she moved towards her desk and sat herself down lightly on the large, black desk chair that moved elegantly with it's 6 wheels. She'd received an email from the new Minister of Home Affairs, Richard Woods, and the Minister of Defense, Garret Stone, about putting more resources onto the Karandin situation, something she didn't want to do. She had to focus most of the minuscule army onto the other cities that were nearby borders, Lith as an example, in case Nebula wished to advance into more territory of Cronaal's. She began to type her reply
"Dear Garret Stone, Richard Woods,

I've understood your recent concerns over Karandin but I, personally, believe that we should not send more units into the further escalating situation the Syrixians and Nebulans have caused. With the Nebulans blockading the border of North Cronaal, it is a possibility they may move that blockade into our territory and begin an assault on other cities that sit close to a border, Lith and Ada as primary examples. Noting this, it is important we focus our absolutely tiny army on those areas more than a conflict that already has several allies fighting for us - We can't just throw units around like it takes no time.

I understand the short length of this and many lacking details but I am incredibly busy and do not have time for these shenanigans.

Yours Sincerely,
Lara Kray"

SAFF troops were waiting in the outer city, holding the line but not advancing yet upon orders from SAFF command and General Von Winstin, due to the political bickering going on amongst the international community concerning Syrixia. Eventually, Command gave the order to go for the gold. If North Cronaal had been taken out and Cronaal was reunited under the democratic South Cronaali government, Nebula would surely accept negotiations; and if they continued to go at it, the angry eyes of the international community would stare into the Nebulans' souls. SAFF troops continued to work their way through Rodon, reaching the center of the city. North Cronaali communist authorities were arrested, their fates to be negotiated with Nebula. However these were not to be tense negotiations. Syrixia was willing to be generous. Nebula would be able to keep the Kalinins and would not have to return them to Cronaal.

As Rodon was secured along with the communist leadership and North Cronaal collapsed in on itself, the communist leaders were ceremonially brought to a South Cronaali prison. Now, the war was over, and the final thing left to be done was to negotiate with Nebula. Syrixia was still awaiting a Nebulan response. Eumenorian representatives hinted at proposing reforms for the Helmebaine Alliance to consider as well, so hopefully the whole fiasco, from the Mad Queen's War to the Ryccian Civil War to the Rhuvish War to the War in Cronaal, et cetera, would never happen again.

Protests in Nebula have called for the resignation of Emperator Malachit. The Nebulan government has not given a response, but insiders in the Elliptical Office report that Malachit has made preparations to step aside.

"Private Richards!"

Cronaali soldiers in Kannexan uniform stood at attention in a line. One stepped forward, boot slamming down into the pavement. He was clad in full combat fatigues, with pixel splotches of green and gray on the thick cotton. A Kevlar helmet topped his tall, stoic figure as he saluted and grunted, "Here!" The Kannexan colonel eyed him up and down, bearing his typical scowl. "Receive now your Commendation Medal in recognition of your heroism in battle and service to your country," he shouted, almost demanded, in accented English. With this, a Kannexan adjutant draped a ribbon-hung bronze medal on the Cronaali's neck. The private stepped back.

The Cronaali Brigade was recruited among the local populace. It formed a vital part of the 2nd Panzer Division, which was now stopped southeast of Syrixian-captured Rodon. Orders had come in from the General Staff back in Weiterburg: halt the advance and hold the captured territory for the time being. But day by day, hundreds of worn-out, hungry North Cronaali soldiers were showing up the through the other side of the snow-tipped forests, waving white flags. Wagonloads of war prisoners had to be driven back to the South. The North Cronaali leadership had been essentially incapacitated -- the Syrixians struck the death blow. Now the entire country was theirs for the taking, but the Syrixians now wanted negotiations. The Kannexans, never too keen on advancing without adequate support -- whether political or military -- held their ground and waited.

BREAKING NEWS
Emperator Azurus Malachit has announced his resignation. Power has been transferred to his associate, Caledon Antlerio. Antlerio is a member of the Liberal Democratic Socialist Party and will take the country in a more moderate country.
In other news, Nebulan troops have withdrawn completely from Cronaal, retreating to the Kalinins.

As the planes landed the Seblandians and Cronaalis that volunteered to help unloaded them. They expanded the camps, so there was more room for the people, also the wounded got proper treatment from doctors that arrived. Cronaalis got clean and warm clothes, as they didn't even have time to take clothes, when they evacuated their homes. They also got a lot of different useful stuff for example food and clean water. It felt like staying in a hotel, but sleeping in big tents. Some Cronaalis left and stayed with their friends or family, that lived in Towns that were built in much safer areas than Karandin. The Seblandians did what they could to make the Cronaalis feel comfortable.

The streets rang with celebration as the Blue Bloc had won its final victory over the Communists. The tyrant, Malachit, had resigned. Finally, it was over! The negotiations would be much less tense now.

Azurus Malachit read the morning paper in his old office. Caledon Antlerio stood behind him.
"Oh, look. They're calling me a tyrant. How nice."
"Indeed, although they are probably under the impression that we were as oppressive as the governments you installed in North Cronaal and Rhuvanland."
"Ignorant conservatives. They've never seen a socialist system that was democratic besides ours, and we've spent too much time annoying them."
"There are many liberal politicians in Syrixia."
"Liberals. As long as they allow capitalism they might as well be right of centre for all the world cares. And Kannex is much, much worse."
"You do know that I'll have to negotiate with them."
"Yes. There's only one issue that we must stand firm on: we keep the Kalinins."
"No argument here."
"Draft a statement, then."

The Nebulan government is willing to withdraw all troops from Cronaal, with the exception of the northeast islands and the Kalinins.

Syrixia will only accept this if Nebula withdraws from the northeast islands as well. Nebula may keep the Kalinins.

The Kannexan Empire will return the wreckage of Nebulan planes shot down in Rhuvanland and North Cronaal. The Kannexan Empire will also return the bodies of the pilots as a sign of goodwill.

Nebula will settle for Balle and the Kalinins. Anything less must have significant other additions thrown in.

If Nebula settles for just the Kalinins, we will throw in a payment of ?2,000,000|00.

The 2nd Panzer Division of the Kaiserliche Kannexische Heer advanced into Lake Pel Province. The capture of the North Cronaali leadership had demoralized the Northern forces and soon, towns and cities in the North came under Kannexan control. The 2nd Panzer quickly reasserted order and law in the region, arresting looters and attacking gangsters. The Cronaali Brigade proved useful in this endeavor -- but its manpower was limited.

The Generalstab of the Imperial Forces authorized the Kannexan garrisons in Cronaal to begin the recruitment of Cronaalis, not just for translation services but for regular service. The successful Cronaali Brigade became the model; soon a whole other brigade of Cronaali citizens had been established in the 2nd Panzer. The 4th Pelhaforan Division came up north from captured Karandin and incorporated two brigades of Cronaali recruits as well.

The 18,000-man strong 1st Division of the Pelhafor Territorial Army arrived in contingents in southern Cronaal, escorted by elements of the Northern Fleet.

After further deliberation by the Syrixian government, we have decided to retract our old offer and deliver the following demand. All Nebulan troops must withdraw from Cronaal and the Kalinin Islands must be ceded back to Cronaal, as they once belonged to the Provincial State of Cronaal as the province of Anchor.

You will, unless you want us to take them yourselves. They belong to Cronaal, not Nebula.

The Nebulan military presence in the Kalinins totals 500,000 at this point, and more can arrive with great ease. Ask the Cronaal government if they are willing to pay the price it will take to regain them.

Nebula, what price are they worth? The Guslant government will pay the difference of the Syrixian price and the Nebulan price. We are through with this war.

Following the debates concerning the sovereignty of the Kalinin Islands, Nebula and Syrixia have agreed to let the decision fall in the hands of the Cronaali government.

To The Nebulan Emperator,

It is of common knowledge that both Syrixia and Guslantis wish to buy the 'Kalinin' Islands, the Anchor Province and the North Balle Island, from your nation and return their ownership back to my rule but I fear that is both a great waste of time and waste of money. I propose that Nebula retains it's ownership over the 'Kalinins' but allow citizens to have dual-citizenship in both Cronaal and Nebula, besides this, I also wish for Cronaal to be given explicit permission to exploit any resources there may be on the 'Kalinins', the Anchor Oil Field, which is north of the former Anchor Province, and the Roe Iron Mines, on the North Balle Island, being the notable examples.

If you do not comply, I will continue to let foreigners hassle and waste your own time.

Your's Sincerely,

Kannexan banks such as Fessan Bank, Nordbank Kannex, and the state-owned Imperial Kannexan Bank have offered massive loans to the Cronaali government, along with Cronaali provinces and towns, for the sake of reconstruction. Loans have also been given to Rhuvanland. Under Heidi Rhein, Rhuvanland is beginning to rebuild its industrial capabilities after years of war. Major corporations such as the Julius Corporation and Joh Fredersen Inc. have made investments in rebuilding Cronaali and Rhuvish companies.

As the war has ended, True Sebland would like to ask the Cronaal government to provide their citizens provisional accommodation, as most of Karandin is wrecked and/or not safe to live in. The Cronaalis are in camps near Karandin at the moment, but the camps will be dismantled and sent back to True Sebland, we would like you to take care of your citizens, so we can start dismantling as soon as possible.
Thanks.
