ARCHIVED: The Seblandian Expansion

It is known fact that the Seblandian population is increasing and the population density is getting high, so True Sebland decided to expand into unclaimed territory. One of the biggest factors for the expansion is the shortage of arable land and to expand their territory. There are plans for agricultural areas and for founding new cities. And by the better access to the "middle" sea we can make more trading ports.

The environment will be affected as little as possible, as the environment is highly protected in True Sebland and our tourism industry is based on it.

The native population will be informed about the annexation and any problem will be fairly solved. They will also get a small flat in the nearest town or money, depending on what they need. They will be provided financial support if their financial situation isn't sufficient and proper healthcare and they will be cured from diseases. There isn't a language barrier between Seblandians and the natives, as their language is similar to seblandish.

They will have to respect the seblandian laws, without the exeption of compulsory school attendance.

We will inform you about the process.

(OOC: Just an inquiry; True Sebland is huge! How could you have run out of arable land? Syrixia has tons of arable land and it's much smaller than True Sebland, for example.)

(OOC: It isn't that much bigger than Syrixia and we specialize in agriculture! + We have a larger population)

(OOC: If you specialize in agriculture you would've found a way to conserve arable land. Either all the land that isn't a town or city is one big farm, or you're wasting time and resources.)

(OOC: Is there an OOC thread you'd like to post for this? BTW, how large is your population if it's so high?)

(OOC: You say that the natives speak the same language as you. How would that even be remotely possible if the natives and the territories you want to expand into are on the other side of the map from your main claim? I ask because I have Tir na Andalucia and Callaici which are populated by natives to their area and they do not speak Kaltian, yes... now that they are part of the Confederation they can speak their native tongue and Kaltian but that was only after the introduction of the Confederation's education system.)

(OOC: I'll break the mould and do this IC.)
The Eumenorian foreign ministry would like to enquire of their True Seblandian counterparts, if they intend to claim this land over seas as opposed to purely extending their current territory?
If this is the case, what is your reasoning for not making use of the considerable linguistic, economic and logistical benefits of expanding close to your main nation?

Day 1: We secured the eastern coast up to Hardish Bay and started to go west. The border with Hardish Bay has been finished. The border with Ertolia has been started, but will be finished tomorrow.

One village (population: 136) found 10 km from the shore. The natives have no serious diseases and decided they don't want money, but they want a reservation. We provided them a 100 km2 reservation(illegal to enter), food and started to dig a proper well. Every native got Seblandian citizenship.

A few locations of where cities could be built were found, but none have been started yet.

We are opposed to this expansion on the grounds that True Sebland has failed to provide an adequate reason, and until they do we will view it with suspicion.

Syrixia is also opposed to this expansion for the same reasons.
