[GA] Repeal: Rights of Indigenous Peoples [Complete]

GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION AT VOTE

Repeal "Rights of Indigenous Peoples"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal | Resolution: GA#328 | Proposed by: Imperium Anglorum
Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #328: Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Distressed and mortified that 'Rights of Indigenous Peoples' would allow culturally distinct minority groups to circumvent the legitimate authority of member nations, as the resolution attempts to '[prohibit] member nations from ... limiting [indigenous] culture[s ]' in clause (5),

Maintaining that it is a violation of human rights to make some groups 'more equal' than others,

Concerned that the resolution permits ritual murder, as ritual murders are not prohibited by international law,

Believing that ritual murder is immoral and a violation of human rights,

Further disapproving of the resolution as it prohibits governments from pursuing public health initiatives or executing infrastructure programmes for economic development in their own sovereign territory if there are beliefs to the contrary,

Confident that international economic development is important for the functioning of the free society and building of the modern society,

The World Assembly hereby,

Repeals the resolution on the 'Rights of Indigenous Peoples'.

For, Against, Abstain.

Vote Recommendation:
FOR

As we all know, the original resolution was utter garbage. That it managed to pass, despite glaring issues and gaping holes in legislation, is nothing short of a miracle. Since it essentially allowed native individuals, regardless of their integration into society or preferences, to opt out of social services that may be integral to certain nations, such as income tax, vaccinations, sanitary conditions for disposing of the dead, the original was a significant problem resolution. Since nations should not have to deal with the forced legalization of ritual sacrifice, it is imperative that we repeal it.

This repeal has done a fantastic job pointing out the shortcomings of the target resolution. It is clear, concise, and has taken a very measured approach to repealing a resolution that shouldn't have expected such restraint. Therefore, it is the Ministry's determination that it is in the best interests of TNP and her citizens to vote FOR this repeal!

Against, several parts of this repeal are downright lies, it does not actually require ritual murder. Because right in the resolution it says

"Prohibits member nations from forcibly assimilating indigenous peoples, or eradicating, reducing, or limiting their culture, with exceptions provided in cases in which existing international law prohibits specific practices of the indigenous peoples;"
~GA Resolution 238, Paragraph 9

Actually I just scowered the entirety of GA Resolutions. There are currently NO resolutions that forbit Ritual Murder. So this repeal is built upon TWO lies.

1.) that Ritual Murder is ILLEGAL under international law, which it is not.
and
2.) that Resolution 328 allows indigineous minorities to circumvent international law which it doesn't

Any indigenous population can claim that a national law infringes on their cultural independence and circumvent it. That is not a lie.

Thanks to those nations who cast their votes. Your participation is a great help to the region.
