I recently engineered this page, which could be relocated to a /pages/ location on this forum with a small amount of work. The page's data is located here, and is updated following each major update.

The page URL is of the form

http://www.thenorthpacific.org/world_wa_counts.html?50

Where the ?50 part is optional and can be any number, and specifies how many regions to show.

Two requests for comments:

1. Should I create such a /pages/ page?

2. What features might it be nice to add to the page? (Without adding more data sources).

Interesting info, it would be a useful page to have.

I'm less convinced by the pie chart. The main problem is in the labelling. The line for the DSA is confusing the issue somewhat. You also have more coloured segments than labels. Could you perhaps start the chart at the 10 o'clock position and split the labels across both sides? It might also be clearer if the labels were stacked a bit further away rather then closely wrapped round the pie.

Are these pre-selected regions, or would it automatically show the top n from the game?

I just get a "loading Icon" that freezes after a few seconds. - what is this page about?
What browser are you using?

DSA?
The labeling is handled by highcharts, though I could touch it up with options. I don't understand the meaning of the 10 o'clock suggestion.

The page shows the top N regions, where N is 25 or whatever's set in the URL.

Sorry - DSA = Democratic_Socialist_Alliance

What I mean by the 10 o'clock idea is that currently TNP (as the largest region) is displayed top dead centre (12 o'clock) and the segments then run down to around 4 o'clock on the right hand side. That means all the labels are competing for space on the right. If the package allows it, you could start with the largest region around 60 degrees left (10 o'clock), with the segments running up the left side to the top and then on down the right. That would give room for labels on both sides, and a less cluttered look.

I hope that's a little clearer.

10/10 for putting it together in the first place. :worship:

Seems to work in Google Chrome on my Android.

It's blank for me.

If you put in a number following a ? added at the end of the URL, you will get a different number of regions. For instance, if the number is 36 or more, you will get canada in there. The starting position would therefore have to be variable to get the symmetry you're asking for -- with 100 regions shown, only half is left to Other. That's too much work for now, but maybe I'll do it later if more people want it :)

Democratic Donkeys:
I really like peanut butter ice cream. Thanks for doing a comments thread! :)

Okay...

Added a text box to let you control how many regions to show without going into the address bar.

I thought chocolate was bad for dogs?
Actually, dogs can have carob, it's the sugar they have to avoid. And there are treats out there made of carob. (And as for me I prefer the dark because it is not as sweet and its better for your heart, your blood pressure and your blood sugar!)

It would be interesting to also include delegate statistics in this page. Both number of endorsements, and percentage of total WA nations in the region endorsing the delegate.

Another interesting statistic to add may be WA/total regional nations ratio.

I keep track of these statistics for a few of the top regions, for my own perusal. The trends are interesting to observe, and they can also be useful for strategic purposes from time to time.

DELEGATEVOTES and NUMNATIONS would be fairly easy to include with this, and even make pie charts with. One could even plot scatterplots across variables (i.e. total count in the X-dimension, WA count in the Y-dimension).

So the table would look like

#[c]Region[c]Delegate Votes[c]WA Nations[c]Total Nations[c]Delegate Approval[c]WA Membership Rate[c]1[c] the_north_pacific [c]468[c]611[c]4148[c]76.60%[c]14.73%

Is there any way you can make it so that typing a number and hitting enter doesn't break it? Hitting enter is a reflex. >_>

More pie charts please.

I like Boston Cream Pie, personally.

Also, be careful in that creating a stats page that you don't give away any valuable information that may help invaders, raiders and usurpers engage in nefarious activities.

That is certainly vague.

What are you referring to?

And the French. Can't give any information to them either.

Anything you do with the French always involves collaboration. :P
