New Applications

The FRA has received 2 new applications from regions wishing to join the alliance. 00000 A World Power, a region of 129 nations, gave its reasons for applying as: "To take a step towards introducing our glorious region to the world, and to improve our regional defence forces". Voting is currently underway, and it seems likely that they will be admitted.
The other region is Empire of Great Britain, a founderless region of 27 nations, which the FRA recently defended from invasion. Contact with the region, which was once a member of the ADN, was established after it was successfully defended, and the Regional Assembly has voted in favour of admitting them, meaning that they are 9th member region.

New Recruitment Drive

Big Killer Babys, the Diplomatic Minister, has initiated a recruitment drive to continue the expansion of the FRA. Several regions have been suggested as potential future members, and further suggestions would be welcomed here. The FRA knows of at least one region that is considering applying for membership in the future, and it is hoped there will be more.

Defending

As ever, the FRA continues to protect the sovereignty of founderless regions, and recent missions include helping to liberate The Rejected Realms, and liberating the region Football Forever. If you wish to become and FRA Ranger, please apply here. Papercuts & Skittles from North Pacific is a recent addition to the ranks of the FRA Rangers, and an application has been received from Geo X of The Rejected Realms.

Other news

Member region Hethrum's Chairperson, Greater Farnham, has resigned, and the region is working towards replacing him.
The embassy with The New Power Federation is to be closed, after the region has officially been closed due to inactivity.
The standard period of Summer inactivity has not affected the FRA too badly, with the Cabinet continuing to go about its work, and the forum remaining active.

Thanks for reading. Another update will be on its way soon.

Defender Awards

The highly successful Defender Awards will be coming back to the FRA very soon! Discussion has already begun to tweak the old system, and suggest any new awards that might be presented. Some new awards that I have gained some steam is ‘Meltdown of the year’ award, which is self explanatory. Another award that is less likely to see the light of day, but has been tossed around is the scum of the year award. This would be presented to an invader org, or region, that is truly the lowest form of life on the planet. It will be interesting to see how the defender awards unravel this year. I am sure many heavy hitters from all of the major organizations will be on the ballot for multiple awards. So start thinking now about who deserves the EuroSoviet award (given to the nation who is viewed by the NS community as the one nation who has helped the defender cause the most in the last year) or the Ananke Award (nations who spend their own time looking out for any invasions that are taking place. Also the most prestigious award of them all, the Lifetime Achievement Award for Dedication to Defending.

Foreign Affairs, Recruitment, Communications OH NO!

With all three ministers responsible for these positions going inactive, what is the FRA to do? Pudd has already been impeached by the Regional Assembly, and new elections are on to vote in her replacement. Will the successor of this office have more success? I certainly hope so. Then with the extreme inactivity of Sanzar, and Hallsta, the Communications Minister, and Recruitment Minister respectively, rumblings to find replacements for them have begun as well. Hallsta has stated that if anyone wants his job, they can have it, as he is to busy to fulfill his duties to the FRA. However Sanzar has been cited as writing the next update for the FRA….what will his fate be…even he doesn’t know, as he writes this article!!! (DUN DUN DUN DUN)

New Members

With a unanimous vote, New Liberalia has become the newest member region to the FRA! FRA now holds a total of 13 member regions. The future of the FRA looks long and bright with so many regions willing to help this organization achieve more greatness then it already has. With an inactive Recruitment Ministry, there hasn’t been anymore regions proposed to come in to the FRA, but I am sure that will change soon. Their might well soon be a new RRO, and with a new person, comes renewed energy, and hopefully more regions to join the FRA.

FRA Update
Dated: 24 December 07
Arch Chancellor: Northern Chittowa
Forum

New Foreign Secretaries

Following Puddilania's disappearance just after being elected, the FRA decided to elect two new Foreign Secretaries, and welcomes Neasmyrna and Pope Lexus X to the job. The election was contested between 4 candidates - Neasmyrna, Lexus, Drop Your Pants, and fan favourite Abstain. After voting closed, Neasmyrna and Lexus were tied on 6 votes, Abstain in third place with 2 votes, and DYP picking up the wooden spoon instead of any votes. After a brief discussion Lex and Neas decided to share the job. It was later discovered that Falconias erroneously voted in the election (for Neasmryna) when he was not eligible to, but seeing as the next set of elections was in just a month’s time, both candidates agreed to ignore this.

FRA waves goodbye to Democracy

No... Northern Chittowa hasn't declared himself Supreme Leader - the region 'Democracy' has been expelled from the Alliance for inactivity. Attempts were made by the Regional Development Department to get the region up and running again, but after the only remaining active member of the region, Peaceful Llamas, was unveiled as a spy from The New Inquisition, these were abandoned.

Three new applications

Three regions have applied for membership of the FRA. Nabban was unanimously rejected, after refusing to condemn raider activities, and for the following answer on its application:
3. Is your region willing to use its own member UN nations in the defence of other FRA regions when they come under attack from the organisations which fall under the 'raider' category?
No, for then it would cause controversy and make us loose other allies.
New Earth was also unanimously rejected, with the following parts of their application best demonstrating why:
3. Is your region willing to use its own member UN nations in the defence of other FRA regions when they come under attack from the organisations which fall under the 'raider' category?
-New Earth holds a neutral foreign policy, however, is willing to dedicate a 20% of our military for FRA work; maybe more.
5. Does your region condemn all such 'raider' activity against FRA regions or any others?
-No, New Earth is full of people who hold both a invader, and defender values. The overwhelming majority supports defender causes, and the military will do what it is told.
An application from A New Order is still being discussed.

Regional Development

After the failure of the regional development efforts in Democracy (see above), the FRA accepted The Grenvali United into the Regional Development Program. Progress was being made, when Nykibo, the person who had applied for help, left the region, so the efforts were put on hold indefinitely.
The Regional Development Minister would like to invite any founderless regions that are in need of assistance to apply to the FRA, so long as they are willing to put in some effort themselves.

|Elections

Elections are scheduled to start for all Cabinet positions on the 1st of January. Seeing as Northern Chittowa is expected to retire from the position of Arch Chancellor, this promises to be an interesting set of elections, and experienced candidate 'Abstain' is being widely tipped to succeed him.

Rangers

The FRA Rangers have, as ever, been in action around NationStates, protecting the sovereignty of founderless regions. The highlights of recent weeks have been the successful liberations of Strongbadia, Austria, Wheel of Time, Beyond (liberated by the AWP RDF), and Yorkshire.

2nd Annual Defender Awards

The 2nd of the Annual Defender Awards will be held early next year, and preparations are well underway. Several new awards have been added, and the format of the awards is being worked on. A full update on the awards will come separately at a later date.

Mod's Playground

The FRA doesn't just work hard - it plays hard as well! The newly created Mod's Playground has every forum member as a mod, allowing for hilarious editing of posts.

An Ode to the Rangers

Klopstock, the FRA poet laureate, composed this ode after a series of FRA victories:

The Rangers

Before the board at night and through the day,
In search of crashers wandering astray,
The Rangers of the FRA are made
To support, defend, liberate and aid.

A nation moves, some follow in its stead,
The feel of Raider victory may spread.
Yet wary be they, who from others seek to steal:
Defenders come in strength no one cares to feel.
Targets are spotted, details are relayed,
Orders issued, armies join the night's crusade.
Alert! Move! Endorse! in victory BANJECT!!!
More action a week than most a year collect.
And in the morning, when raiders at dawn awake,
They find themselves awash in Kandarin's own lake.

From regions large to backwaters small,
(Too numerous and varied to recall)
All raiders take note or suffer to behold:
Nothing escapes the fury of the grey and gold!

Honoro Respectus Integritas![/u]

This update is lacking in cartoons, because it was written by Sedge, in the absence of Sanzar. We apologise for anyone who has read the entire update, hoping to find something to laugh at down at the bottom.

And also:

From the office of the Arch-Chancellor of the Founderless Regions Alliance.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with the greatest honour and privilege to inform you today that the FRA have decided to once again hold the Annual Defender Awards! Following the success of last year’s event, it was decided that it would be held again, however with a few slight changes.

The format of the awards will be the same, there will be a nomination period, then a voting period and finally an award ceremony at the very end to round it all off. The number of awards has gone up by one despite there being a few awards taken out and added in and we also have decided to give out awards this year around, so that those who win have something to show their achievement.

The awards are as follows;

The EuroSoviets Award
The Ananke Award
The Anarchotopia Award
The Eagles Disobey Award
The Blackbird Award
The Dipes Award
The Updater of the Year Award
The Operation of the Year
The Newcomer of the Year Award
The Worst Invasion Award
The Best Defender Quote
The Meltdown of the Year Award
Defender of the Year
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Dedication to Defending.

Everyone is welcome over to the FRA forums to participate - invader, defender and neutral alike are all encouraged to join in the fun!

The awards are scheduled to begin on the first week of February, so there is plenty of time to think about who you want to nominate.

If you have any questions feel free to PM myself, Northern Chittowa or indeed check out last years event at: http://z7.invisionfree.com/FRA/index.php?showforum=74

I look forward to seeing you all soon!

FRA Update
Dated: 12 January 08
Arch Chancellor: Sedge
Forum

Happy New Year to all! Hope you had a good holiday period! Here are the latest goings on in the Founderless Regions Alliance

New FRA Cabinet

Following January’s cabinet elections we now have a new FRA cabinet!
Arch Chancellor: Sedge
Regional Development Minister: Hammer
Regional Recruitment Officer: Hammer
Communications Minister: Numero Capitan
Intelligence Minister: Falconias
Foreign Affairs Minister: Gateborg
Chief of Defence Force: Sir Lans

The elections saw our previous Arch-Chancellor, Northern Chittowa step down and be replaced by Sedge, with none of the other nominees accepting their nominations. No doubt Sedge will hope to straighten things out a bit in the Arch Chancellors office after discovering numerous George Michael records, a collection of lycra outfits and a picture of Elton John in Northern Chittowa’s old chest of drawers, the pink flowery wallpaper is likely to fall victim to Sedge’s initial purges as well. The elections also saw Hammer and Numero Capitan join the cabinet for the first time, with Hammer taking both Regional Development and Regional Recruitment, quite a hefty workload!
The incumbents in Intelligence and Chief of the Defence Forces kept their seats after positive terms and Gateborg returned to the cabinet as Foreign Affairs Minister.
Abstain was unfortunate to lose out on a cabinet position once again.
We are currently having elections for Speaker of the Regional Assembly, but with only Geo, the incumbent, standing he looks sure to keep his position.

FRA welcomes new member regions!

The Founderless Region Alliance is proud to welcome our newest member regions, A New Order and Sapienta after their applications were accepted. We hope they will play a key role in the FRA and contribute to our goals. A New Order has appointed Island Union and CloudEagle as their Regional Representatives and we look forward to a closer relationship with these two regions.

New Applications

There have been several new applications, one from The Military Alliance, requesting membership and development, which should go to a vote soon and another from new region Lipitone who are keen to be involved in the FRA despite only being two days old.
We’ve also had a steady flow of development applications, with A New Order requesting some help and other applications from Outer Heaven, Cransley and The Military Alliance.

Rangers

The FRA Rangers have been kept busy over the Christmas period despite a number of absences and have had a few more Rangers added to their numbers, including Novellus Veii from The YoungWorld as well as Naivetry and Auel Neider as Non-allied Rangers!

2nd Annual Defender Awards

We’re honoured to host the Annual Defender Awards once more and our outgoing Arch-Chancellor is acting as host again. All members of the Nationstates world are welcome to come and take part, invader defender or neutral and we hope it will be as much a success as last year.

The format of the awards will be the same, there will be a nomination period, then a voting period and finally an award ceremony at the very end to round it all off. The number of awards has gone up by one despite there being a few awards taken out and added in and we also have decided to give out awards this year around, so that those who win have something to show their achievement.

The awards are as follows;

The EuroSoviets Award
The Ananke Award
The Anarchotopia Award
The Eagles Disobey Award
The Blackbird Award
The Dipes Award
The Updater of the Year Award
The Operation of the Year
The Newcomer of the Year Award
The Worst Invasion Award
The Best Defender Quote
The Meltdown of the Year Award
Defender of the Year
The Lifetime Achievement Award for Dedication to Defending.

The awards are scheduled to begin on the first week of February, so there is plenty of time to think about who you want to nominate.

Arch Chancellor: Sedge
Forum

The 2nd Defender Awards have started! This FRA update is an awards special and we will be looking at the preparations for the awards as well as looking back at last years awards. Nominations have now officially begun so get involved here
Everyone is welcome to take part in both the nominations and voting for the awards, simply join the FRA forum and get involved. We welcome defenders, invaders and neutrals and there is awards up for grabs for all. We hope to see you at the awards as soon as possible!

New Awards Added
Despite us removing a few awards we’ve actually ended up with more awards than last year! Here’s the low down on the new awards to 2008;
Updater of the Year
Replacing the Most Reliable Updater award of last year, this award is awarded to the nation that has shown commitment to being involved in update missions.
The Dipes Award
This award is given to the person who is considered to have achieved the most in the field of Intelligence.
The Worst Invasion Award
This is awarded to the worst invasion of the year, due to either invader or defender failures.
The Meltdown of the Year Award
Given to the region or organisation that self-imploded over the past year

Last years winners

Eurosoviets Award- Dipes
Where are they now? Dipes is still around although nowhere near as active as he used to be and no longer involved in the military aspect, he is an official in Lazarus.

Ananke Award- Valiturus
Where are they now? Unfortunatly Val’s nation ceased to exist last month

Anarchotopia Award- TITO
Where are they now? TITO are still going strong and recently celebrated their 750th mission!

The Eagles Disobey Award- 10000 Islands
Where are they now? Still going strong with TITO still being a proud part of their set up and central to the region.

Blackbird Award- Lone Wolves United
Where are they now? It seems that this award went to their head a bit that they became so honourable that they applied for FRA membership.

Most Reliable Updated Award- Valiturus

The Operation of the Year- Iraq

The Best Newcomer Award- FRA
Where are they now? Still going strong, bringing you these awards! FRA are now an established organisation and 2007 saw groups such as ADN, RLA and CoFR all fade away or implode leaving FRA as one of the most prominent organisations in NationStates.

The Defender Unity Award- FRA

The Lifetime Achievement Award for Dedication to Defending- Pope Hope and Grub
Where are they now? Pope Hope is still around but is hardly active and not defending any more after defecting to Cybernations, however Grub is actively running 10000 Islands as always!

The Worst Invasion Award- Amarican’s Invasion of Gatesville

The International Cynic Award- Blackbird
Where are they now? BB is still around as Delegate of The Proletariat Coalition, he is currently developing his own online game!

Best Defender Quote- Lanna and Silentvoice

FRA welcomes new members

The Founderless Region Alliance is proud to welcome our newest member region, Gay!! Gay are one of the larger regions to join the FRA and we’re glad to have them, they have appointed delegate Gwen Stefani and Citta Nuova as their FRA Representatives. We’ve also received applications for membership from City in the Sky, and, a bit of a tongue-in-cheek application from Lone Wolves United.

The demise of a Member region

Unfortunatly one of our member regions has succumbed to inacitivity has had to close down, therefore resigning from the FRA. A New Order will be closing down on the 31st of January, but Island Union will stay part of the FRA as a non-Allied Ranger.

Klopstock made a Major!
One of our most prolific Rangers has become the first FRA Ranger to be made a Major after the Regional Assembly approved Klops promotion by 10 votes to nil. Congratulations to Klopstock!!
The Regional Assembly are currently voting on whether to approve Falconius to Major.

Rangers

The FRA Rangers have been very busy across the NationStates world, and have been defending several regions at a time recently. We have had a few more Rangers added to their numbers, including Tredlock from The YoungWorld and Walkerstown from Global Right Alliance as well as a couple of older members returning.

Foreign Minister
Our new foreign minister, Gateborg, has started cleaning up the department and is closing inactive embassies as well as appointing new ambassadors. If your embassy in the FRA is out of use then please try and get it running again or it risks being closed down.

FRA at war?

Outer Kharkastania has declared war on the Founderless Regions Alliance and TITO through his R.E.A.P.E.R.S organisation. This has been dismissed at a publicity stunt by several FRA members and to some is just reiterating comments made by FRA members at the Neutral Territory conference in saying that they will fight any group sworn on destroying regions.
The FRA is also supposedly currently at war with The New Inquistion and the imploded Land of Kings and Emporers.

dads-tshirt.gif

I take great pride in my BlackBird award. I keep it in my closet next to a life size replica of BB I made out of scraps of clothing, hair, and toenail clippings I stole out of his apartment.

So long as you keep those updates coming to us flemingovia. They're the best I've seen in NS so far

Equilisms ultimatum

The cabinet have today sent a statement about The North pacific affair to Regional Assembly for approval. I hope that we very soon can publish our view in this sad affair. It will be posted here immediately when RA have maked the decision in this matter.

FRA Update
Dated: 29 February 08
Arch Chancellor: Sir Lans
Forum

Arch Chancellor Sedge retires

Due to the pressure of RL work our recently elected Arch Chancellor, Sedge, has been forced to retire from NationStates with immediate effect. Sedge served the FRA as Regional Development Officer and Arch Chancellor as well as reaching the rank of Captain as a Ranger. We wish him the best in his real life endeavours.

New Pro Tempore Chancellor Elected
As our Charter requires we have appointed a Chancellor pro tempore to fill the role of Chancellor after Sedges’ resignation. Sir Lans was appointed by 9 votes to nil and fills the role immediately. He is also Chief of Defence Force and in order to lighten that load he has appointed Falconias of City in the Sky and Klopstock of The YoungWorld as Deputy Chiefs.

FRA welcomes new member regions!

As with previous updates I have been able to announce the good news that the FRA has welcomed new member regions. Anime and City in the Sky are our newest members and we welcome them to the organisation, we hope we can have strong relationships with them! Members of both regions have already previously been active in the region and it is good to welcome our friends Falconias and Drop Your Pants to the Regional Assembly as representatives of CITS.

New Applications

We have only had one formal application for membership since the last update from ‘Back in the day’ but the application has been put on hold as the region is dead and the one active member appears to have vanish. We hope to receive further applications soon.

Rangers

The FRA Rangers haven’t been too busy recently but have been on a fair share of missions and completed several defences successfully in the past fortnight.
Sir Lans recently announced that all Ranger applications were on hold due to the internal restructuring after Sedge’s retirement.

2nd Annual Defender Awards

The 2nd Annual Defender Awards have almost drawn to a close with voting ending tomorrow (1st of March). Make sure you come and vote quickly!

Gatesville declares war on the FRA
Several members of Gatesville have visited the FRA forums recently, with Nevadar their delegate announcing that the region has now declared war on the organisation. As with previous declarations, the FRA does not respond to threats of war and is unconcerned, we will go about business as usual.

honesty-in-electronic-road-signs.gif

Well, they still continue to threaten...and are still ignored, so yea - "Meh" it is.

It's great to see all the activity in this forum :)

Methinks it would ill behoove Gatesville to declare war on so many regions, groups, etc.,,,

Metaphor: Sounds like one would not have much fun in Stalingrad.

FRABanner.jpg

Lazarus. Defenders show their strength.

In perhaps the biggest battle between defenders and invaders in NS history over 200 nations faced off against each other in order to see their desired delegate come out on top. In a well panned endorsement campaign to be followed by full scale invasion some of the moderate invader armies tried to steal the Lazarus delegacy away from Northern-Chittowa and enthrone Hellraiser.

The planning was all for naught, however, as within a short amount of time after discovering the invasion, defenders from across the NS world rallied together and kept the delegacy in Chittowa's hands. Though the invaders were able to take the delegacy their margin of victory was slim, only a 7 endorsement difference.

A large portion of the defence force came from the FRA and Texas with contributions from various other regions. It was mainly two forces versus so many legions of invaders and yet we stood tall and made them sweat for their victory every step of the way. The invaders say we were defeated yet it is the air of victory that sweeps over the defender world.

FRA Update
Dated: July 15th, 2008
Arch Chancellor: Sedge
Forum

Members & Government
As noted in our previous short update, elections have come and gone for the organization's Cabinet. Ministers have begun setting about their priorities, deputies have been selected, and the FRA Rangers are full-steam ahead under a new government. Thanks to those who ran and those Assembly Representatives that voted!

In other news, newly-elected Arch Chancellor sedge has announced an Assembly review of the Alliance's Charter that will likely run for several weeks. Assembly members who may not ordinarily be active are asked to swing by and give their views as the Charter is torn apart and put back together.

Cabinet
The new cabinet has been formally announced:
Communications Minister Election Tie
In a similar incident to the by-election for Communications Minister noted here previously, the election of a Communications Minister was tied - with the two candidates Defectivity and Kobold each receiving six votes, with two abstentions. After some debate, Kobold announced his intentions to step aside. Kobold was almost immediately snapped up as the Deputy Intelligence Minister.

Deputy Ministers
Following Cabinet elections, several departments have appointed deputy ministers to assist the Cabinet in its duties. Some of those announced so far:
  • Deputy Communications Minister: Chin-Chillas

  • Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs: Drop Your Pants

  • Deputy Regional Recruitment Officer: Likako

  • Deputy Intelligence Minister: Kobold

  • Deputy Arch Chancellor: Northern Chittowa

Member Regions
Two long-standing member regions of the FRA have begun combating almost-insurmountable inactivity since the last update, with greater activity from North Pacific and the Global Right Alliance. Both regions are among those potentially targeted by the Regional Development Office's new Minister, Pope Lexus X. There've been a few changes of Regional Representatives, including Defectivity becoming the second North Pacific Rep, with Lichentia choosing Tupelope to serve as second Rep. Meanwhile, Neasmyrna announced Lord Tothe would be replacing him as Regional Representative for 00000 A World Power for the month of July.

Rangers
Though there was a slight lull near the end of June and beginning of July, the last week has proven very productive for the Rangers. FRA Rangers and allied military assisted in the liberation and subsequent defense of Venice, as well as defenses of North Carolina and West Seacombe. Laothin was promoted to Private First Class, so congratulations to them!
