no hurting micky...

what do you guys think of the RSR?
I'm sure it's informative, but the usual banter and one-line conversations that happen in here are much more suited to my....selective attention span.

:tb2:

Oh dear, so that was you. Darling, you're my kinda people. I feel in good company now ^^

Inc-red-ible Fact: RSN has over 100 nations for the first time ever!

1. Founder's Day is TOMORROW, Sunday 11/26. After reading this, please come onto the RSN forum at http://z14.invisionfree.invalid/The_Red_Sox_Na...dex.php?act=idx and post away! Visit your embassy, play in the regional elimination game (defend your region!), and talk everything from politics to current events to religion to sports of every kind. This is our region's first birthday and we hope to have a massive party! Make sure to bring a designated driver...

2. RSN's recruiting has had incredible success this week as we launched an enormous recruiting drive. We now have over 100 nations and aim to keep this number growing consistently. Most recruiting has been done by Diesel 10, My Urinary Tract (who by the way has over 20,000 posts on our forum now), and Winstonopia. Keep up the good work!

3. Looking for knowledge of any sort? Homework help? Do you know what an Aristocracy is? Visit the new RSN University, home to facts we know about, well, everything. Physics problems? Essay writing? RSN University has got it all.

News Bulletins
- First alliance with TGLM nears completion
- President Southern Acre goes away for two days unexpectedly and comes back finding citizens calling for his impeachment!
- Constitutional Amendments being proposed to amend the process of proposing Constitutional Amendments... ironic...
- RSR reshuffled, writers moved around, hopefully will work now

Here at RSN, we have a government run by six elected officials; The President, the Vice President, the Internal Affairs Minister, the Foreign Affairs Minister, the First General, and the Immigration Officer. This same general set up seems to hold true for most other Regions, except for Jethnea, which has a Premier in place of President, and additional Ministers of Intelligence, Communications, and Speaker of the Assembly. Aberdeen also has a Prime Minister in place of President and an additional Minister of Culture.
Red-itorial
There is talk in the GA about adding an extra admin, called the Forum Supervisior. At the same time the the elimination of the position of Vice president is being discussed as well. While I am for the creation of the FS, as it will be nessecary since both of our admins will be away at the same time, I am also against the elimination of VP. The VP has a dual role in RSN, as an admin and as the president if the current president becomes absent. The elimination of this role may create a power struggle between the other members of the Regional Council.

Please give me feedback, questions, comments, or suggestions. Thanks, and go Sox!
This is a government-endorsed newspaper but all news, articles, and editorials are the opinion of the author only and not necessarily all of RSN.

Really? I understood it just fine.

Thanks for coming over, by the way, MI.

Just direct me to the games section and I'll take it from there.

*Sets up liquor cabinet*
Help yourself to anything you like. If you want it, I'll have it.

Hey all in the TNP! listen up! The crew from RSN are a cool bunch of folks to play around with in their threads. You all should know if they sling spam with me they will (just might) sling with you as well. Utract is a witty comical spammer. Teradona can come up with some stuff that will make you giggle as well. That folks is just the tip of the iceburg.

Wow, I'm away for two days and suddenly I'm left out of the spam report? That hurts guys.

Inc-red-ible Fact: Our "Games" section currently holds over 17,800 posts!

1. Founder's Day was a huge success! Representatives from many regions came on and helped us hit over 2500 posts in one day - far short of our goal but still an incredible achievement. The Regional Elimination game was won by The Lexicon who came over in mass. Weddings, games, spamming, and furious legislative debate characterized the fun day full of activity, speeches, prizes, and a whole lot of partying... Thank you to Georgdem for organizing a great event!

2. Numerous important Constitutional changes have recently been discussed, leading to a talk about how we could get all these possible Amendments into one and pass the whole thing together. Proposed changes include banning invading, removing the Vice President from the government and shifting many of his powers to the President, and editing the specifications for major and minor Constitutional Amendments in the future. These changes could have a profound effect on the region if agreed upon and passed. See the debate Here - nice arguments between Utract and I. ;)

3. RSN has gotten very good news and very bad news about foreign regions recently. We've established our first official alliance with The Great Land of the Moon and are very excited about that. We have also had great interaction and communication between most regions who have consulates with RSN - activity is great! However, we have lost our old friend Q102, who fell apart this week. Sad to see them go. :(

News Bulletins
- RSN finally has new and improved smilies - come check them out!
- Red Sox close to signing Matsuzaka, looking good for next year
- Fantasy Football League at last two weeks of great season
- I, Winstonopia, have been taken to court - see the Courthouse
- 2 more proposed bills - the Forum Act and Archive Act in the works
- Old VP Western Mountain has returned (remember him?)

RSN Citizen In-Depth

Q: This weeks featured member is: Alyss, our beloved administrator. Just to give the readers a general idea of who you are, tells us a little bit about yourself. Name, age, location, current school status, current job status, any hobbies or interests that you have, favorite color/food ect.?
A: My name is Fergus Charles Bovey-Hull, I'm 18 years old, I live in Oxford, England, recently left the sixth form and am on a gap year, have been working for the NHS as a admin assistant for roughly six months and will finish tomorrow. My hobbies are NS ^_^, writing, kung-fu and playing on my 360. My interests include Japan, China, Russia, films, threatre, philosophy, history, and lots of other gubbins like that.

Q: So, Alyss, how long have you been playing NationStates?
A: I played NS for a month two about three of four years ago with a nation called Fris Grille, then stopped, then began again with Lengastan and have been going for about a year.

Q: And how did you happen upon The Red Sox Nation?
A: I founded a region called Urda and tried to make something of it, but all I achieved was [Utract] and two of his puppets. One day I logged in and he'd done a runner, so I followed him: here.

Q: Are you yourself a Red Sox fan? (if not, what sport do you like and who is your favorite team)?
A: I didn't even know what the red sox were till a while after I joined RSN. I don't follow any sport, but my whole family are hardcore Arsenal fans (English football/ American soccer team), and I suppose I kind of support them. They certainly have the most style out of all the teams in the Premiership. I prefer to watch rugby, though I don't support anyone and only like it because they jump on each other all the time.

Q: Much to our dismay, you will be leaving for India in a few weeks, correct?
A: I am indeed

Q: What is it, exactly, that you will be doing there?
A: I'm spending a month in Kolkatta (formerly Kalkutta) learning TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), and a bit of Hindi (dominant language in India), then I have a teaching placement near Kolkatta for another four months.

Q: What inspired you to take this giant cultural leap?
A: My Mum, a very active woman in my personal life, informed me I ought to go out and see the world, and she found the project after a bit of searching online. Thinking about it after, I have to say that a TEFL qualification is very useful, it allows me to get a job pretty much anywhere.

Q: Having read and loved some of your works myself, how far do you plan on taking your writing career?
A: If all goes to plan, writing will be my career, probably directing too.

Q: A question that I am sure is on every girls mind, what are you attracted to in a woman?
A: Physically: pale skin, dark hair, the more Japanese the better, though I'm certainly not going to rule out Caucasian women if I'm lucky enough to encounter any.
Personality wise: mysterious, shy, down to earth, good sense of humour, romantic as hell. Like Eloise is in 'Silence' (shameless false advertising here, my apologies), but not as ****ed up.

Q: Lastly, where do you see yourself in five years?
A: In a ditch ^_^ Seriously? I have no idea. The future is far too uncertain. I'd like to see myself with a successful writing career and living in Japan, but that's probably further off than 5 years.

Thank you, Alyss, for your time. And that was a bit about the man behind the RSN Admin powers, thank you for reading.
Micky
Foreign Affairs Minister

This week in RSN, something we’re talking about is how to get nations to stay in our region as well as to be active on the forum. It’s all well and good to recruit a ton of nations, but what’s the point if they don’t come to the forum, contribute ideas, and just have a good time? There is none. Different methods have been suggested, and we have an Internal Immigration Supervisor, but something is missing. Sending out telegrams to nations encouraging them to join the forum just isn’t working. Something is missing. We’ve added a Sports section to the forum, and we’ve created RSN University, but it’s not luring people on. Even Founder’s Day, while a success among people who were already active, as well as foreign diplomats, didn’t cause new members to come to the forum. It makes sense that not everyone is active, but there must be a way to get people interested. Many of them don’t even bother joining the forum, never mind posting more than a few times. I don’t know what more we can do, but there must be something, because everything we’re trying isn’t working too well.
