My sincere apologies for the lateness of this report. With the Canadian Thanksgiving last Monday, I've been running around a day behind all week! Fortunately, I only managed to miss 3 appointments, instead of 6...
Welcome to the Embassy of The East Pacific!
Government
An act to amend the "Magisterial Assembly Act" by separating the legislative and executive branches of the government by removing the Delegate's right to cast the tie-breaking vote in the event of a tie vote by the magisters, was defeated. Ironically, it was a tie vote, so ...
On October 10th, the Magisterial Assembly voted to confirm the appointment of Free Pacific States as Viceroy of the East Pacific upon the resignation of the incumbent Viceroy, Codex.
On October 13th, the Magisterial Assembly voted to confirm the appointment of Kandarin as RP Administrator of the East Pacific.
As mentioned in an earlier report, Codex, although still present in the East Pacific, will be sorely missed for his integrity, his humour and his wisdom, both as an individual and as Viceroy. Similarly, Free Pacific States has done an outstanding job as RP Administrator, and for such a superb RP'er to give up a position so near and dear to his heart could not have been an easy decision. He is, however, leaving the position in the hands of one of the best RP'ers in the East Pacific, Kandarin. Congratulations to both of them, and to the East Pacific. We're lucky to have them.
On the Off Topic Forums ...
As always, the Lounge is still a popular place to let off steam.
After six weeks, I've finally resigned myself to the fact that the number of games in the "Fun and Games" forum is simply going to continue to keep on growing!
"Last One to Post Here Wins" is by far the most popular thread, but ... but ... hasn't anyone yet figured out that unless you're a mod, it's a no-win game?
With 35 games, however, there seems to be more than enough to keep everyone amused.
The EP Wiki is starting to grow and grow and grow ...
In the Role-Play Arena ...
In his usual inimitible fashion, Kandarin has started a thread comparing East Pacific Role Play to
Cattle Politics. If any of you know many of the nations involved in EP RP, you'll get a kick out of his off-the-wall insight.
"War Games" seems to be heating up. Instead of regular troops, Marines have been sent to take part in the games against Reziel. Not only that, but it would appear that the Marines in question have been the test subjects of some sort of aggression-enhancing vaccine administered by the rogue Faction of the other government. Unwanted family reunions and mounting tensions on the eve of the games are making for a good read. At least, so I'm being told. I have a little trouble remaining unbiased.
In
"Shiro Academy", students are having a riot trying to bring Loop's character, Nei, up to speed on what's been going on. Actually, we're trying to bring Loop up to speed!
Apparently the last date she remembers is November 5, 1955, and is carrying around a picture of a Flux Capacitor. Only from Loop!
Only five teams entered the
"EPHC 5" this year. Rumour has it that the reputation Coocoostan's Fighting Ibix established last year was enough to scare off all but the most intrepid. Granted, they are currently in first place, but the Kelssek Blueleafs are currently running a close second. We ... uh ... won't mention the nation from which the team in last place comes, but with players like Meadowlark Lemon, what can you expect?
Other threads worth mentioning are "The Twin Grand Duchies" and, once it gets underway, "The Retiree Appreciation Banquet", in honour of Loop, Codex and FPS. Both of these threads can be found in
"Inwardly Angled Hostilities".
That's it for this report from the East Pacific. As always, feel free to make comments, suggestions and/or ask questions and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
