With some OTHER football tournament breathing down our necks, it's time for us to have our own tournament.

All you have to do is post the name of the soccer team here, and the patented OPArsenal Random Number Generator© will do the rest. No knowledge of the sport is required, and the winner gets the prestigious Hamka Cup awarded to them.

I'm entering the famed Arnett Gardens FC. They win a lot, and stuff.

The Hersfold National Football League will be more than pleased to enter, in preparation for the upcoming Summer Olympics. Do you require a team roster?

Well Chelsea I believe has Essien from Ghana. He's awesome...couldn't find the net though v. Italy! I don't know of its (Chelsa) integrity.

The World Cup is about intense competition and doing what it takes. Capitalism is about competition as well. They mix to me very nicely. :lol:
 
Over in The South Pacific we have a football league running...Well I say running we have just completed our 3rd season...And in honour of the current World Cup we are planning to run a cup competition, format as similar to the World Cup as the number of entrants allow...

Would that be something you guys would be interested in, obviously not wanting to detract from your competition here...

Also when we kick-off Season 4 it would be great if any of you wanted to join our league...We currently have 8 teams, but if we could double this and get a two divisions up and running that would be great and make things more interesting with promotion/relegation to play for...

Tsrill has put together a nifty little simulator which uses a 'mysterious' algorythm to work out from user defined values for defence, midfield and attack the scores for the games...It also produces up to date league tables...We have had great fun with it this time round...

Let me know what you think...And apologies if I have hijacked your thread... ;)

@ kloister: I have been told that this 6th tournament of ours is going to be quite swift, so maybe we could send our top 3 teams against your top 3 teams for a smaller cup soon. Maybe if it worked out we could turn it it to a league with 2 conferences. Interregional sports tournament could be fun, and also a safe way to express our patriotism :lol: .
 
I think a football tournament with/against the South Pacific would be a great idea. We are bound to win. Name me one decent footballing nation south of the equator!

It'd definitely increase activity. It'd also wouldn't be bad at all to have a little more patriotism in the feeders... I see no reason why it wouldn't be a positive thing, and also if you don't like a feeder (and vice-versa, they don't like you) that makes it EVEN BETTER TO DO. :yes:
 
I have asked both The East & West Pacific's if they would also like to join in...Let you know what they think...

Second round draw will take place on Monday after the teams rest up and travel to OPArsenal's capital city, Highbury.

The semifinals and finals will be played in N5 Stadium.

Hersfold NFL celebrates their early win in the 6th Occasional Tournament, greatly facilitated by a number of somewhat opinionated calls from the referee, who just happened to be the President of the United Federation of Hersfold. International soccer organizations are investigating just how he got assigned to that particular match, and how he was even able to see the game through the large group of Secret Service agents protecting him throughout the match. However, it is not expected that the match will be replayed, mainly due to a substaintial monentary donation from the the manager of Hersfold NFL to the tournament.

Hersfold NFL look forward to their next game in the tournament.
 
On to the semifinals, it looks like Hersfold and I are the likely finalists. It'll be a battle either way.
