To sign up, post below your nation's name, and the events you will be sending athletes/teams for, as well as the athletes' names. Each nation may send up to 10 athletes/teams - what events they will participate in is up to you. A nation may send any number of athletes for individual sports, but only one team per team sport. If an event does not recieve entrants from at least 3 different nations, the event will be cancelled.

I'll figure out how to work the scoring after we get people signed up - it will probably be different for each event, depending on how it works.

Nation: The Federation of Chodean Kal

Alpine Skiing:
Men's Downhill - Frej Emanuel
Women's Downhill - Tea Hildegarde

Curling:
Women's -Team Composition: Lead: Teresia Christin; Second: Sonja Eydís; Third: Tyra Karla; Skip: Kjerstin Carina

I'll apply first next (:P) as an example:

Hersfold will be sending:

George O'Malley for Men's Luge
Kia Donnegan for Women's 15km Biathlon
A team for Four-man Bobsled
A team for Women's Bobsled

Taylor Swanson for Women's Free Skate
A team for Men's Ice Hockey
Kris Stevenson for Men's Large Hill Ski Jumping
Kris Stevenson for Men's Normal Hill Ski Jumping
Stacy Traynor for Women's Halfpipe Snowboarding

Edit:
Michelle Swanson was injured in practice and will be replaced by Chris Dvorak in the Men's 20K Biathlon.
The Men's Ice Hockey team apparently lost their luggage at the airport, and replacement gear will not be available until after their first placing. They will not be participating as a result, and their place will be taken by Taylor and Chris Swanson in the Pairs Free Skate.

Ator People will be sending:

Women's Halfpipe Snowboarder Gabrielle Roy

Perhaps it would be easier if each country were to enter a competitor for each scheduled event rather than limiting participation and eliminating under-subscribed sports. I anticipate having to repick my team because not enough people sign up for the events I'm most interested in.

I'm hoping we'll get a few more people signing up... if not, then that's probably what we'll have to end up doing.

I might work with IG to get some PM's running around on this to increase participation.

When will this start? I need to think up some names, and work out which sports they'll be entered in...

I mean pick my teams. :eyeroll:
Depends how many people we get signing up. I'm going to try to work with Arts & Entertainment to get this advertized a bit, so hopefully we'll be able to start sometime in the middle of next week.

Definitely before the actual Olympics are over. ;)

A-I, your application is a bit fudged up - first off, you may only send a total of 10 athletes/teams; secondly, there is no "Freestyle skiing" event, which fortunately takes care of the first problem; and thirdly, I need you to specify which events you are entering the speed skaters in.

This is list showing how many nations have entered in each event. Those in BLUE have the minimum number of applicants (3 nations) and will be held in the Olympics. Those in RED need one more applicant in order to be held. If you're not sure what to sign up for, please consider entering one of these. Any events in black are very short on or do not have any applicants - please sign up for these if possible.

If necessary, I may change my delegation around to accomodate some of the more short-handed events.

You can send up to ten people, you know.

Ok, I've added you in. At this point, please do not sign up for any events that do not already have someone participating. I'm going to work out how to run this later today and will probably cut off the applications then. I'll shuffle my team around a bit to make sure everyone is accomodated. Thanks to all who signed up!

Ok, then. *shrugs*

I'm going to try to shift things around to make sure that as many events as possible can be held. If you recieve a PM from me, I might need you to choose another event. Hopefully this will only affect a few people, but we'll see how it turns out.

The results of each event will be determined by random number generation. Exactly what numbers get generated will depend greatly on the event. In some cases, it will be scores, others, times.

*Hersfold is posting this now so he has something to look at while he sorts out the logistics of each event.

Explanations of certain events:

Downhill Skiing and Speed Skating:
There are two days for each of the men's and women's events - the first will be for qualifying runs, in which the athletes will race to try and make the top 3. On the second day, those 3 will race for medal placement.

Curling:
There are three days for each of the men's and women's events. In men's, each Round consists of three games between two teams. By the end of the three rounds, all teams will have played each other once, and scores will be tallied up to determine the winners. In women's, there will be a semi-final found where teams will be randomly matched up and play three games. The winners go to the gold medal game, the losers to the bronze medal.

Ice Hockey:
There are four days set aside for each of the men's and women's events. The teams will be divided into two groups of three teams each. (Unfortunately, there are only 5 men's teams at present, but I'm trying to fix that). The groups will play each other, similar to how curling is set up. A win is worth three points, a tie 1, and a loss 0. The teams with the most points from each group will be in the gold medal game, the second most points in the bronze medal game. Ties will be decided by goal differences, then total goals scored.

Everything else: Figure it out for yourself, it shouldn't be that difficult.

Any questions, please let me know. I'm still finalizing the rosters for each event, but they should be settled by the time we need them.

Sounds fun. Thel or someone else should make some TNP medels :)
Yeah... medals...

I'm hoping that Thel is willing and able to do that, but if not, our medals will just look very suspiciously like those donuts you see them handing out in Torino.

Or if someone else is willing, please let me know. I'll probably make a stab at it sometime tommorrow or Saturday, but it may not look very good.

As requested teh Men's Hockey Team, and Ingeborg Borgstein the Novan Men's Fress skate champion have just touched down, and have, er..., got their skates on.

*(There's only one plane in the whole of Nova Sardonikker - and yes, it only has 6 seats Puck...)

And with that, the rosters are finalized. The games will begin tommorrow, hopefully without too much of a hitch.

But then these things always seem to go terribly wrong for me, so we'll see what happens.

Somehow I can sense a total computer meltdown which causes the scoring to be completely screwed up and riots occur as a result.

Let's hope not... :o

Anyway, I didn't have time to call up Thel and have him do one of his fancy jobs with the medals, but hopefully these will do. I pirated the TNP crest out of the post boxes.

*Hersfold puts A-I in a strait-jacket and ushers his athletes past without allowing them to view the medals.

WE'RE BEING DEPRIVED OF OUR RIGHTS! WE WANNA SEE SHINY! WE'RE TELLING MOMMY! MOMMY! HERSHEY'S BEING MEAN! I WANNA HOLD SHINY! *punches Hersfold in the face and runs; but, unlucky, goes into a state of Narkelepsy*
