The North Pacific has ratified the Sacagawea Alliance and, Equilism having done so as well, the treaty may now enter into force. It is my fervent hope that this alliance will bring Equilism and The North Pacific many happy returns as we together further our enjoyment and encourage cooperation between regions and combat tyrants wherever we both see fit. Please join my government in swiftly establishing prudent and convenient protocols implementing our alliance. I look forward to working with you.

Sacagawea Alliance:

Recognizing our ancient bonds of friendship, transcending our past differences, the free regions of Equilism and The North Pacific seek to again have fun, foster inter-regional cooperation, and oppose tyranny in a new alliance.

1. The parties to this treaty are Equilism and The North Pacific.
2. The parties will recognize the constitutional governments in force at the time of ratification of this treaty as the sole legitimate governments of their respective regions.
3. The parties will not seek or act to undermine one another by any means, including subterfuge, espionage, and invasion.
4. Both parties pledge to defend one another militarily upon request.
5. The parties will share any intelligence relevant to the defense of the other party.
6. A new treaty between the parties may override this treaty.
7. If a party to this treaty acts in willful non-compliance to this treaty, or attacks an ally of the other party, then the other party may immediately terminate this treaty and/or all diplomatic relations, and may issue a statement detailing the transgression.

The government has been a bit quiet lately as members work on midterms or travel to exotic and exciting places, but it has not dropped off the face of the earth. CoPS legislation is still under revision, but nearing a finalized draft, as is the judicial proposal put forth by Karland. The Equilism Civic Holidays law and a Mutual Defense treaty with Osiris were passed in the second half of September, while renewal of Equilism's treaty with The West Pacific is on hold for some internal reevaluation of what articles make sense, and how we can improve our upholding of the spirit of the document. And lastly, Zeorus, as Aedile, has put forth a proposal to make the position of WAD more defined in law (clearly to prevent him from continuing to perpetrate all the abuses on the Equilism nations he has heretofore been able to get away with. Random bannings, unendorsement at a whim, disregarding their votes, and so on. Truly evil!)

We've had some Magistratial shuffling going on behind the scenes recently. Taking over for Zeo in Domestic Affairs is Randgriz! Congratulations, Rand, and we can't wait to see what you do with the place.

Immigration
The Monkye has started his term off with a giant bang, hosting an emergency recruitment competition to stop our sliding numbers. Down to 80-something at the beginning, we've now climbed back to a whopping 117 nations - a level we last reached in May of 2011, and before that, May of 2010! Well done to the participating recruiters, The Monkye, Astarial, and Karland! If this level of participation keeps up, we'll be hitting milestones before BADASS can create awards for them!

But there is a nice, shiny, awesome award for this competition... so good luck to all!

Foreign Affairs

Trying for a record of Most Named In An Update (award pending), Zeorus has been switched into Magistrate of Foreign Affairs and promptly missed an update. We apologize to our friends who missed us in the interim!

To avoid any such mishap in the future, Astarial has been tapped as Zeo's Promagistrate. Using trickery, feminine wiles, and a well placed snuggle, she has been officially named Promagistrate of Lies and Propaganda. Let her know how you think she's doing!

Update writing delegated to a subordinate, Zeorus has begun to focus on making sure ambassadors are properly appointed, and reevaluating our relationships with assorted regions - closing down embassies for inactive ones, and looking into opening relationships with other, more active alternatives.

In the Government

We are saddened by the resignation of tarricoe, who felt he did not have the time to run the government the way it deserves and thus stepped down from his post two weeks ago. Zeorus and The Monkye both stepped up to challenge for his office, and with a vote of 7 to 3, Zeorus is the winner! Congratulations to our newest Chief Minister - grab the bull by its horns and try not to get gored!

Equilism's CoPS legislation has been put on hold temporarily, due to concerns about its interaction with the legislation and policies of a number of our closest friends. We plan to attend the CoPS discussion at the NS World Fair and work out the kinks from what comes out of that. Stay tuned!

Judiciary legislation has been brought to a vote, finally having passed the Astarial Nitpicking Test(tm) and once Zeorus is properly sworn he'll be redecorating his office according to whatever his classy thematic tastes decide. Currently under consideration are theocratic, orchestral, corporate, Feudal Japanese, and (my favorite!) Discworld themes!

Newly elected Zeorus has wasted no time at all, merging Internal Affairs with Immigration to create the brand spanking new department of Domestic Affairs! Officer in charge of DA is the former Immigration Minister, The Monkye, and former Internal Affairs minister Randgriz is released from service with the thanks of the region.

The official winner of the October recruitment competition is Karland, with 2144 points! He earns the following medal, along with a signature-sized version, and the gratitude of a struggling region.



With a population surging up to 122 - which would be higher but for assorted military deployments keeping some of our loyal members busy - we wait with baited breath to see what The Monkye will think up next!

Foreign Affairs
With Zeorus' elevation to Chief Minister, the position of Foreign Affairs minister stands temporarily vacant. But have no fears, it shall soon be filled! Sources tell us that Astarial has been nominated, and Vesica has expressed an interest in the position as well.

Military
The military is currently deployed in Osiris, assisting in their delegate transfer from Lyanna Stark to MadJack. We applaud Lyanna for her fabulous service to the region and wish her luck in all her future endeavors. And to our new favorite Pharaoh, a very hearty welcome and an assurance that we will provide whatever is needed in the way of friendship, endorsements, and cookies.

Along with his other sweeping radicalizations, Zeorus has established a ministry of defense, to which Vesica and Whamabama have been nominated as Officer.

...Is that right? There's so much nuance, I can't keep it all straight!

Role Playing
Star Trek: Equilism has been going strong, and RP has seen some activity in a future-time superhero game from Svunbrink and Baal. As well, a number of people expressed interest in a Discworld-themed roleplay, and Zeorus is gauging interest in a magical storyline within the dark and creepy Vampires universe.

Immigration
Regional population has been holding steady in the mid-teens, and The Monkye has been named as Sexy Secretary of Immigration by the new Ministrix. Come on, Monk! Let's make 150 by the end of the year!

Foreign Affairs
The Foreign Affairs department is currently un-ministered, with nobody stepping up to take the job following the elections for Chief Minister. In the interim, Zeorus is staying on as acting Minister, and Astarial is continuing as Deputy Minister for Lies and Propaganda. With the lyingest lies and propagandingest propaganda, any new minister who takes over should keep her on. Hint hint!

Equilism has a booth at the World Fair, which we admit is sadly understaffed, but we hope to see some of our friends come poke around! Look for Astarial and Zeorus in the CoPS redrafting auditorium, and check out the fIRCe-side chat Grandpa Westwind held Saturday night. It turned into a convention of the oldtimers, who reminisced and plotted coups. All in good fun, of course, lighthearted and amusing, ha ha... but can you be sure they weren't actually serious?

E-Army
The E-Army has officially been reinstated, under the leadership of Vesica, Minister, and Whamabama, Chief of Staff. And in a general call to duty, all active and available troops, whether members of the Flying Circus, the Obsidian Order, or the soon-to-be-staffed E-Army (not to mention innocent, not-officially-military-at-all members) have been called upon to fulfill the terms of our treaty with The North Pacific, assisting in the delegate transfer between long-suffering, long-absent, heinously-recalled Delegate Eluvatar, and lots-of-fun, definitely-couping, legally-elected Interim Delegate Tim, trying to stave off the inevitable power-grab by bunny-eared, kick-banning, deliciously-modly Erastide.

...We're totally not trying to take you over this time, guys. Honest.

In the Government

The Senate being completely unbriefed about the status of the COPS negotiations, progress on Equilism legislation of the same is at a standstill.

There was a brief flurry of discussion about the possibility of implementing a bill of rights, but lacking someone willing to argue in its favor, that has similarly slacked off.

In an effort to breathe some life into the place, Astarial has proposed some constitutional amendments, both minor and major, and we expect significant discussion to be held on the Challenge system as a whole. She also proposed a new law based on the old Legislative Corrections Act, a document that allowed amending existing laws in order to correct grammar or formatting problems so long as such amendments would not alter the meaning of the text. However, lacking a standing judiciary, the law as it stood will quite clearly need some amending.

Equilism notes with extreme pleasure the current drafting of Commend Astarial taking place on the WA forum, and heartily recommend that our friends support this resolution in reaching quorum once submitted, and, when at vote, in passing.

In the Government
The Senate is lazily discussing a few legislative options. Having quickly passed a minor constitutional tweak which allows the Senate to delegate judicial powers, and not simply hold them, it is still holding forth on possible further amendments to clarify language and fix uncertainties. There is also some debate on establishing a bill of rights for citizens, but given the dictatorial leanings of most Equilismers, it lacks strong conviction. Last, we've gotten some work done on a new version of the legislative corrections act, but there is disagreement on whether or not to include templating under this bill.

With the Foreign Affairs office finally filled, perhaps things can start getting done around here! Equilism has opened embassies with Spiritus and Mordor, both growing defender regions sure to become powerhouses! The Archduchess is now settling down for a lovely bit of paperwork, cleaning up ambassador lists and the whole general office area. Golly, what a mess!

Our Chief Minister Zeorus has announced his resignation, citing "how much you all suck" and "this game is dumb anyway" as definitely not the reasons behind his decision. He has nominated Felasia to be his replacement, so stay tuned for an exciting campaign.

In happier news, Equilism is one of the five regions invited to form the charter membership of Sovereign Confederation. With enthusiastic approval voiced so far, the vote is expected to be quick and uncontested. We are thrilled at the prospects this organization opens up.

We've passed an amendment to our constitution making the Delegacy a position subject to the challenge system, and are nearly finished with our bill outlining the responsibilities and rights of the same (minus some small details, such as whether non-WA nations ought to be able to vote in the region's WA vote).

The murderer remains at large, with guests conflicted, unable to agree on a scapegoat to hang. We do not know who will die next, but surely it will be gruesome.

The fantastic Felasia has been tireless in his recruiting efforts, aided when possible by Zeorus and Astarial, and Equilism is now boasting a population of 202 nations! Fun fact: Equilism last broke 200 nations in November, 2008 - over four years ago! This is really thoroughly exciting for us, and we really hope that a bunch of our new friends stick around and get involved in government.

The Archduchess is pleased to note that ambassadors are steadily and thoroughly filling out their reports on assigned regions. Soon, all the knowledge shall be hers! Muahahahahahaha...

In the Government
Equilism has ratified the Sovereign Confederation charter unanimously, and is proud to (belatedly) announce our membership therein. MILLITARISM has been chosen as our representative, and we are sure he'll do a fantastic job. Felasia has been confirmed as our new Chief Minister, again unanimously, and we have finally passed an amendment putting the delegacy under our challenge system.

A couple projects are still ongoing. We are still considering changes to a proposed law defining duties and restrictions of the delegacy in light of a recent RMB kerfuffle, and have recently opened up a discussion on establishing an official Equilism symbol - and we have a lot to choose from. Throughout Equilism's history, we've used such diverse images as a shield, swords, a globe, a compass, a crown, and (quite creatively!) the letter 'E'. There is widespread support in favor of the compass, with Astarial and The Monkye putting some possible designs forward. Stay tuned for a possible design competition!

With the return of some of our members, we've seen an upswing in domestic activity. Star Trek: Equilism has seen activity, as has our Superhero roleplay. Our Dean has returned to the University prompting hope that classes may soon find enrollees, and of course, who isn't discussing the pope's resignation?

Our murder mystery winter ball appears to have stalled, with two murders and no suspects voted off the island, but here's hoping it will pick up again soon!

Thanks to the efforts of Felasia and The Monkye, Equilism reached a peak of 220 nations! Holy cow! We've since seen some CTEs that dropped us back down to 215, but we have every faith that that number can rise again.

Foreign Affairs
Since our last update, Equilism has officially opened relations with SovCon (of course!), Iseori, and Hogarahoiprash. Huzzah!

E-Army
Since its entry into SovCon, the E-Army has joined both official missions - first, a liberation of The Islamic Republic of Iran from the hands of Nazi scum, and second, a raid on Union of Fascists, a region allied with such lovely regions as the Greater German Reich and White Pride World Wide. We will remain in place until UoF can be refounded to stand as a permanent warning to others.

While I was speaker, I spent far too much time looking away from Big Brother, and the knowledge of his wisdom and love has been lacking. Equilism has seen a fantastic rise in nations, up to 316, with several new members joining the forum for at least a welcome post. Equilism last topped 300 nations in 2008, and before that in 2005. Sources close to the Minister of Love, the eminent Monkye, have said that he does not credit the recent rise to any kind of demonic nonsense. "It Big Brother," he is reported to have insisted, "Who has blessed us in this fashion. So long as we continue to love Big brother, we shall see many happy, loving years ahead." We sought to contact these sources again for a followup interview, but were informed that they were not home, did not live there, and in fact, had never existed at all. Silly us!

The supremely lazy Minister of Truth, Astarial has continued to laze around her office like a sloth, all of her coworkers too afraid to protest lest she be fired and they be forced to take her job on top of all that they already do for Big Brother. The News in Brains


Holy moly, leaping lizards! Equilism has risen to a shocking and record breaking total of six hundred and eighty two nations, thanks almost entirely to the recent Zombie Apocalypse that swept across NationStates. A status report on the biggest 100 regions, written by the Lady Naivetry and pinned by direct order of Max himself, informed the world that Equilism was by far the largest region not overrun by the illness ravaging much of NationStates. This fact, of course, is itself due in large part to the proactiveness of both Naivetry and Zeorus in warning citizens of the zombie menace and encouraging them to seek a cure. For science. You monster.



Equilism's fame seems to have skyrocketed after the posting of the report, and we immediately began to see a massive influx of nations seeking refuge and recuperation which we were only too happy to provide. We ended the day at a whopping 652 nations, a record in and of itself, as well as topping the list of Most Survivors with an astonishing 1.29 trillion people saved.

Naturally, we expected most of the nations who sought safe haven to return to their homes once the crisis had been averted, and indeed, some certainly have. However, our overall population has continued to rise, and we're surprised and thrilled to welcome the more than three hundred new nations who are gracing our borders. We invite any and all of them to join our forum and begin taking part in the community.

In the Government

As the next installment in the series of "Who came up with this stuff anyway?", following previous highly acclaimed releases like "What should our departmental colors be?" (Answer: complicated!) and "What do we really want as our regional symbol?" (Answer: a compass), we are currently in production of an episode to be titled, "Blue and yellow? What's with that?" It will follow the story of two lovers, meeting by happenstance, and torn apart by - oh, no, wait, I'm sorry, I'm being told that's the plot to Romeo and Juliet. This episode is about changing our regional colors.

The Offsite Property Protection Act, our legislation to bring us in line with the COPS treaty, has finally been voted on and passed after perhaps six months of drafting. Huzzah! That out of the way, we are now discussing amending the requirements for becoming a senator, giving new nations an avenue to faster membership if they wish to complete a Rite of Passage.

Finally, the unexpected influx of new nations has pushed our brand new delegate's endorsement count to sixty nine (yes, yes, giggle all you like), and has stimulated discussion on implementing an official endorsement cap. Hard cap or soft cap? Set by delegate or regulated by Senate? And who - who - is the mysterious EIA? For answers to these questions and more, TUNE IN NEXT TIME.

In the Government

The bad news this week is that Chief Minister Felasia resigned from his position in the course of a minor kerfuffle involving a formal complaint filed by Westwind with the Founder, Chaucerin, seeking the impeachment of both Felasia and Foreign Officer Astarial and the dissolution of Equilism's government on charges of treason, insubordination, and conspiracy. With the conclusion of this hearing, all charges were dismissed. Chaucerin has since opened elections for Chief Minister, but thus far nobody has put their name forward.

In good news, however, the Senate has made progress on a few pieces of legislation - tweaks to the endorsement cap bill, a rework of the entry requirements for the Senate, and reintroduction of the famed Rite of Passage. Following the hearing, we have also begun discussions on how Equilism as a region seeks to interact with other regions, in order to clarify our domestic and foreign policy approaches.

And in another piece of exciting news, Zeorus has officially laid down a challenge for the Arbiter General position. The spot is currently filled by Vesica, who has held it since the creation of the job. We wish both candidates luck in an election that is sure to be exciting!

The Ministry of Truth formally welcomes two new Truth Tellers, Baravia and Rogamark! We hope they'll make as good an impression on their host regions as they have made on us.

During the past month, The South Pacific suffered a coup when the elected delegate Milograd chose to scrap the constitution and ban members of the community from the region. Equilism was saddened by the pain that these actions caused, and regrets being unable to issue a formal condemnation while the coup was still ongoing owing to internal disagreements.

Ministry of Peace
Admiral Chaucerin's Love Brigade has cooperated with friends and allies numerous times through the month of April, but let us only mention the most noteworthy. Joining with an interregional coalition, Equilism raided a haven for forum destroyers and porn spammers, The Ascendancy, demonstrating that there are real consequences for harboring such criminals. We then took advantage of the newly executive delegateship in The Greater German Reich, moving into the region one update in the absence of the founder. She returned tragically quickly, but the opportunity to demonstrate the necessity of interregional goodwill and the unacceptability of their hate was invaluable. Equilism also provided our military assistance to The South Pacific during their time of need, helping the Coalition government to regain their home.

In the Government

Good news, everybody, Kubrikistan, World Assembly Delegate and Dean of Equilism University, has assumed another office in his endless quest for power, the office of Chief Minister, having defeated Vesica and Biyah in a spectacular campaign, we at the Ministry of Truth know that he shall rule well and with the love of Big Brother in all his actions.

Zeorus' challenge for Arbiter General was unsuccessful, with the vote resulting in a tie and the incumbent, Vesica, retaining the position.

In the Senate a law reintroducing an endorsement cap has recently passed with discussions now turning to what the cap should be set at, a bill reworking the Senate's entry requirements and reintroducing the traditional Rite of Passage, also having noticed that the Equilism-TWP had lapsed the new Chief Minister and Minister of Truth Astarial have put forward a debate on it to allow the love of Big Brother to spread yet further. The Senate has also welcomed two new Senators, Rogamark and Mid-North.

Further discussion on the running of the region has also been ongoing in the aftermath of the hearing over the government's handling of the coup in The South Pacific with several suggesting that the government be more formally organised into a cabinet.

The Senate was unable to come to a consensus on setting the endorsement cap, with the vote being five board members for 40, five board members for 60 and two for a fluid percentage, which led to Chairman of the Board erring on the side of greater freedom and setting the cap at 60 - how generous the Chairman is to his workers!

The Equilism-TWP treaty has seemingly ended its discussion in the Senate with the treaty ready to move to vote as introduced without any edits.

An amendment to the Military Rehabilitation Act has been introduced by Director of Marketing Astarial, whose purpose is to give control over the Legal department to those more qualified to run it. Pre-empting the amendment the Kubrikistan has dissolved the position of Head Lawyer leaving Vesica a Director Without Portfolio.

The Senate has formally welcomed Rogamark and Arinthius into the Senate, making them the first Senators to undergo our newly reintroduced Rite of Passage! For the Dare portion of their Rites, they took part in the first secret, cooperative dare, riding bravely into Unibot to sieze the delegacy and proclaim their victory. Marketing Department

The Marketing Department has introduced a new embassy policy, which has resulted in the closure of several embassies and consulates - embassies inactive more than eight weeks will be closed with notification, and the same goes for consulates inactive more than six months. Marketing has also done a small internal review of its sales representatives, with some being cut and others being assigned new routes.

Legal Department

Equilism will have a statement shortly on the recent class-action lawsuit against Nazi Europe, chaired by The Black Hawks and The Pacific. We are grateful to all who came out in hopes of victory.

The Legal Department has recently wrapped up its criminal case against Reich, organized jointly with The Pacific, after providing logistical support for a number of civil complaints they filed - some successful, some not.

The Department has also undergone a change in leadership, with Head Lawyer Vesica being reassigned to an empty portfolio. New leadership will be coming shortly...

In the rather long time since our last update, the Senate has passed both the re-ratification of the Equilism-TWP treaty and an amendment to the Military Rehabilitation Act to bring it more into alignment with the redone military structure. The latter act formally created the position of Chief of Staff of the E-Army. Under our current corporate theme, this position has the alternate title of Head Lawyer.

The Senate has also been at work discussing a variety of other bills, including ones by Zeorus and Kubrikistan to create a formal cabinet with executive powers and subject to regional oversight, as well as suggestions to reform the judiciary, create officially recognized awards for service to the region, reintroduce extraregional participation disclosures as a condition of Senate membership, and in a very cool throwback to the old days, a suggestion from Westwind to require all Senators to have avatars or face the imposition of one arbitrarily chosen by the administration team.

In personnel news, Astarial has been appointed as Head Lawyer, while Zeorus has stepped up to challenge Vesica for his position, suggesting a portfolio focused around redoing and maintaining Equilism's government records and archives - an excellent bureaucratic addition to any smoothly running corporation. Vesica, meanwhile, chose to resign the seat, turning Zeorus' hard-fought campaign into a simple confirmation vote. And finally, Niccasnan has completed her rite of passage, having been dared to find some of Equility's oldest posts on the internet, and has been formally inducted into the Senate. Congratulations!

With the recent hostile corporate takeover in Equilism's partner Osiris, Equilism's Marketing Department has been working closely with its counterparts in Osiris and elsewhere to keep abreast of the developing situation. This had the unfortunate side effect of a lapse in our regularly scheduled ad campaigns, and for this, we most sincerely apologize.

Legal Department
Like Marketing, Equilism's army of lawyers and paralegals was kept quite busy maintaining estoppel of Gatesville Inc's fraudulent claims in Osiris. Though disappointed that the dispute ended in a settlement out of court, we are nevertheless thrilled that Osiris Corp is back in he hands of its rightful owners, and we look forward to working with Osiris on any followup litigation that the averted court battle necessitates.

Internally, the Legal Department received a thorough going-over and restructuring, and with an influx of new recruits, is now operating more smoothly and efficiently than it has in years! The hiring freeze has been lifted, and promotions and bonuses are flowing like honey!

The Senate's discussion on the proposal by Westwind to mandate that Senators have avatars, or have a suitably amusing avatar imposed on them by the admin team, concluded and an amendment of Senate Rules to that effect was passed. Kubrikistan's Executive Accountability and Senate Oversight Act was passed unanimously by the Senate; the act which formally organises Equilism's Government into a Cabinet also provides the Chief Minister with the power to issue Executive Directives and allows the Senate to impeach members of the Government. Senate discussion on Conflict of Interest disclosures continued with the focus turning to whether such disclosures should be made publicly or privately in the Senate.

Zeorus faced a tough battle to be confirmed as Chief Information Officer by the Senate with a narrow vote of 15 in favour to 0 against; the holder of the new post, created to help bring the company up to date with incredible new archiving technology, was swiftly put to work as a vast morass of files, contracts and reports were piled onto Zeorus' desk.

In the Government

The Senate is continuing to discuss Equilism's military and foreign affairs alignments, with advocates of defending, raiding, imperialisting, and independenting all stepping forward to offer their views. A non-binding vote has produced no unified consensus on the future alignment of the community, and discussions on possible hybrid solutions continue.

Owing to Equilism's slowly shrinking size and number of WA nations, Chief Minister Kubrikistan has consulted with the Senate to lower the endorsement cap from 60 to 40. This proposal has met with rather bland approval from those Senators who have chosen to weigh in, sparking such impassioned comments as "If you like," (Astarial), "Sounds fine to me," (Hamajahala), and "I have no objection," (Felasia).

Klaus Devestatorie and Cormac Sloane have begun rites of passage to join the Senate, with the Senate retaining its quintessential classiness during questioning - nary a request for a dick pic in sight! Zeorus, despite having been a Senator since long before the rite was reintroduced, has also chose to join in on the fun. He has been subjected to a pop-culture-reference-laden Rite that will surely pose a challenge even to his formidable skill.

Capitalizing on the fun being had with these three Rites, Astarial has brought a proposal before the Senate that would replace the default two week citizenship requirement for the Senate with the Rite, with alternative paths provided for those afraid of subjecting themselves to such tyrannical hazing. Seeing this proposal, Lord Ravenclaw, who has been a citizen for some time, went like "O_O" and immediately joined the Senate in terror in order to avoid having to be subjected to a Rite in the future.

The Finance department has been hard at work seeking out ways to monetize the worker-customer base, and has been ideating synergistic solutions to bring added value to members and a wider profit margin to the corporation. Stay tuned for potential upcoming hints!

Role Playing

The recent influx of new members to the forum has led to a discussion on Equilism's map, namely whether it should be replaced or simply updated, and on the potential for new RPs based around it. By overwhelming majority, the region has voted to replace the map, with a nearly even split between those wishing for the new map to contain continents or an island archipelago.

Astarial has taken point on creating the desired map, and has announced that owing to time constraints caused by the terribly curious notion of "graduating on time", the creation and release of the map will have to be delayed until mid-December.

Marketing

The Marketing department, after a concerningly long hiatus, has got back to work, re-assessing the competition within Equilism, checking with its focus groups throughout nations and setting about getting the Equilism brand out there once again.

As part of its reinvigoration efforts, Cormac Sloane and Korriban-Ziost have been hired as sales representatives. We are sure they will do an excellent job increasing our profits and brand recognition abroad!

The department has also continued in its steps to cut off inactive partnerships in order to allow more profitable ones to flourish. This round of closures has seen sales representatives recalled from Glass Gallows, Liberty Alliance, Gatesville, and The United Defenders League.

In the Government

Senate discussion continues on the matter of the E-Army and Equilism's military alignment. Several proposals have been put forward for discussion, including one from Westwind which would divide it into raiding, defending, and entertainment divisions, and ones from Astarial and Cormac Sloane which advance a program of taking on voluntary protectorates.

The senate has also been considering other topics. These include continued dialogue about the region's slowly falling population - thanks, stamps - and distributing the bi-weekly foreign affairs update to nations in the region via the mass-telegramming feature. New Equilismer Small Huts took the initiative of designing and proposing a new calendar, named The Reckoning, which restructures months into six periods of five days apiece in the interest of making time more logical, straightforward, and predictable. This proposal has met with some resistance and confusion from others in the region, but we here in the Marketing department believe that with just a little bit of pizzazz, some dazzle, and just a little bit of shine, anything can be sold.

In Rite of Passage news, Small Huts has bought several extensions on the time allotted to complete their dare by distracting senators with catchy tunes-of-the-day. Meanwhile, The Grim Reaper has broken his NationStates Photo cherry and provided us with a completely voluntary, totally sexy photograph of his arm, where he felt oddly compelled to write "I <3 Equilism" in nutella. We appreciate the spontaneous and unpredicted expression of love! And finally, St George has signed up to be the latest recipient of a Rite, despite meeting the citizenship requirements. See, Raven? Some people aren't scared!

The marketing department continues its revitalization of the Equilism brand, and is preparing to present a comprehensive proposal for a strategic business partnership with The Europeia Corporation.

Legal

The legal department has gotten a chance to stretch its legs overtly recently, teaming up with The South Pacific to take on Fascist, Inc., a company which has violated all sense of propriety - and copyright. The goal of this lawsuit is to drive the company into bankruptcy, thereby forcing it to sell off its assets and come under new management. We wish our intrepid, courageous lawyers luck on their expedition!
