    proposed change to citizenship requirements

Requiring citizens to have posted three times won't make any difference to retention rates. It's extra work and extra faff and extra bureaucracy for very little gain.

A bill for RA review of court sentencing

I really don't believe that RA review of court rulings would be a good thing. The court is not there to make popular decisions, it's there to make the ones that (in our case) they were elected to make. The recent ruling in the UK about brexit demonstrates, like many other cases, that even RL...

    [GA|DRAFT] Nuclear Energy Scheme

I'm just going to drop a note to let you know that I am going to have a look at this (I promise!) and not to give up while you wait. I just want to give it the time that it deserves.

    Delegate Question Time

From my lowly position, Present means "I am here and am not expressing a view" and Abstain means "I want the delegate to abstain". It's the only meaning that makes any sense. I can of course be overruled but that's my interpretation.

    [DRAFT] Recommendation Nuclear Weapons Accord

Agreed. It accepts the apparent reasonableness but deals with the proposals problem's well.

    [DRAFT] Recommendation Repeal "Condemn DEN"

Looks like it's in #magicality-grand-plaza. I agree with the decision to repeal. My reasoning in two-fold - the fact that this condemnation is dire and should not get to stay on the books solely because it's not possible to replace it. I also feel that we shouldn't "reward" DEN with a...

    [Complete][SC]: Liberate Heroes Rise [Removed]

In light of the new information, my tenuous for has become an Against. The natives don't want this, they won't be coming back to try and rebuild the region.

    [Complete][SC]: Liberate Heroes Rise [Removed]

Hrmmm. In principle I'm For. But it's not exactly a shining example of good resolution writing and there's no debate thread. But that's not enough for me to condemn this region to destruction - they don't seem to have done anything particularly egregious to "deserve" this. For. EDIT: Vote...

    [Complete][SC]: Commend Benevolent Thomas

Summed up, he's an active defender who's done some stuff but has also been less-than-exemplary in some situations and in particular with TNP. Against - he might have achieved some things, but his attitude seems less than commendable.

A Bill to Fix an Ambiguity in the Regional Security Law

^^ I hate clauses like this because the people enforcing this law are under an oath of office and if they manipulated the law out of all recognition or bent it to get out of doing something they'd be in trouble anyway. Replacing it with something a bit more substantive would be a good idea - a...

    [DRAFT] Recommendation Commend Benevolent Thomas

For example: The nation nominated for commendation is lauded for its diplomatic prowess. The resolution goes on to refer to it as an "irreplaceable keystone of the world" and cite their work to repair relations between 10000 Islands and The Rejected Realms. He's lauded for multiple positions...

    [DRAFT] Recommendation Commend Benevolent Thomas

I think McMaster's post in the debate thread hits the nail on the head quite well. It seems...a little... petty? to deny this based just on that one interaction with us. It appears to me that his success in various regions is being highly overstated and his attitude towards those who disagree...

    Mental Wanderings

Erro all, This is a blog I originally started a year and a half ago. It was attacked and hacked to high heavens and completely destroyed (all old posts were either buried on my dropbox or found on waybackmachine etc). I've spent the last few days restoring and improving it and I have a blog...

Proposal: New Flag and Coat of Arms

This! If you want a simple exercise you can do to prove how silly asking for a "why" if one is not offered - think about your favourite colour and try to think of the reasons why you like it. Some people might be able to but most it'll be "just because". I think the new designs are very...

    Amending Citizenship

The thing is is that the comparison doesn't work. Anybody in the UK is protected at least by the fundamental rights we've inherited from the European Convention on Human Rights. You might not have all the entitlements and rights of a British Citizen but at a fundamental level you're still...

    Amending Citizenship

Aaaaaand that is why the BoR would need amending. Not because technically it has to be but because a citizen without any rights under the BoR distinctly bothers me as an idea. We'd be accepting that someone can be a part of our community as a citizen without offering them any protection under...

    Amending Citizenship

If we could do this without massively extending the rights available under the BoR I would possibly consider running with it. The fact that this change would require a significant BoR amendment makes me question whether it is a good idea. We could end up in a tangle of consequences and I'm not...
