Hello from Europeia! Our monthly Foreign Update is hot off the press with updates on the Senate election and regional happenings.

May Senate Election by Malaxa
Elections for the 105th Senate saw one of the closest results in recent memory. Eleven citizens ultimately stood for the seven seats to be selected and for those seven, just seven votes separated the top vote-getter from the lowest elected vote-getter. To add to the nail-biting drama, a sitting Senator fell short of re-election by just two votes. Election commentators were hard pressed to recall an election quite this close and with the amount of back and forth lead changes. Will we see a similarly close result in the Presidential election on the horizon?

FrontierFest 2026 by Malaxa
FrontierFest 2026 is a wrap! Alongside cohosts Starlight and The League and Concord, Euro hosted fun, games, FrontierVision and even serious conversation about the future of frontiers in NationStates. The Share Flag/ Make Flag channel was especially popular for all those aspiring Sheldon Coopers out there. We look forward to next year’s event!

Legislative Happenings by Malaxa
The newly elected Senate, a mixture of returning and first-term Senators, immediately got down to business by selecting the Venerable Rand as Speaker with Booyah serving as Deputy. Most recently, the Senate passed the Terms of Office Act to implement a fixed election schedule across the Senate, the Executive, and the People’s Assembly. Upon passage, the Act immediately triggered a referendum where citizens of the region overwhelmingly selected 3 month terms effective immediately. In other measures, the Senate continues to discuss changes to judicial procedure.

Constitutional Convention by Malaxa
The most impactful measure before the Senate however, is the current debate on calling a Constitutional Convention. While still in the planning stages, this convention could result in the largest wholesale changes to the governmental structure of the region since Constitution VI was passed in 2019. Exact timing of the convention is unclear as yet, but suffice it to say that all citizens are encouraged to participate, debate, and help determine the future of Europeia & Estalcia.
