I don't think it's an exaggeration to say TNP's moderation has a bad reputation in the broader NS community. Many, many stories circulate of problematic individuals TNP moderation refused to ban at the time, and despite supposedly have "gotten better", there are still instances where moderation refuses to ban people who would get instantly banned by most other respectable regions. For example, you might recognize the time Varanius complained about a nation bearing confederate imagery which was allowed to remain in the region, following the familiar pattern of not doing anything until the user leaves of their own accord.

At 3:23 PM Eastern Time I sent out a mass ping in the Discord announcements channel to celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility, ending with the sentence "Hate is not tolerated here." One particular user sailor2413 reacted the rolling eyes and unamused emojis, and was quickly criticized by the community for this. Their response was "i dont hate gay people. im just anti gay. not anti gay person." A distinction without a difference. They then proceeded to call homosexuality a sin, which if I may remind you is defined by Oxford dictionary as "An immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law." The preface of TNP rules states "The North Pacific is dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and friendly experience for all of its members." The second bullet point of the code of conduct bans "Supporting, glorifying, defending, advocating, or promoting the deliberate marginalization [...] of people deemed “subhuman” or inferior. This includes, but is not limited to, ideologies of racial supremacy, ableism, homophobia, transphobia [...]" How is it not an ideology of homophobia or transphobia to state that someone's identity is opposed to that which is inherently good? Can we get some enforcement here? Myself and my region have been made a laughing stock in front of our treatied allies and my friends.

As others have pointed out: this is not a courthouse. If someone is found guilty and banned from the server, they aren't losing years of their lives if the court is wrong. It means they can no longer be a part of this specific online subcommunity, a minor loss at most for them. Who are we trying to protect or help by not banning this kind of person? Clearly not the community at large.
