Daniel Zizka has released the music video of “CROSSROADS”, the song with which he will represent Czechia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.

Daniel Zizka has been selected by the Czech Broadcaster ČT from 260 submissions, with the entries being reviewed by a combination of experts and a public poll. He is 23 years old and has been described as one of the best new artists in the Czech music industry.
Kryštof Šámal, Head of Delegation for Czechia, commented on how Daniel made an impression during the first listening sessions:
“When Daniel came into the studio and sang his song straight through on the first try with absolute ease, the room fell completely silent. Not because he was loud, but because he was completely focused and confident. The performance was disarming – technically precise, yet full of emotion,” says “It was clear we were watching an artist who knows exactly who he wants to be.”
Michal Utíkal, Head of Media and Creative Producer for Czechia, described the approach that that Czech delegation is taking to Eurovision this year:
“This year we decided to connect our media outputs with a unifying element. All components from photography and graphic identity to the music video and staging contain a leitmotif that symbolically underlines Daniel’s journey.”
“This year we decided to connect our media outputs with a unifying element.
Daniel Zizka added:
“Eurovision is a huge platform and a big show. But what I mainly want to bring there is music and emotion. I don’t want to compete hidden behind flashiness and spectacle. I want to stand firmly behind who I am as an artist.”
The song that Daniel Zizka will perform in Vienna has been written and composed by Viliam Béreš and by Daniel himself. He will perform in the first half of the second semi-final on May 14.

The Azerbaijani broadcaster ITV has defended its Eurovision 2026 artist and song selection following criticism after its entry and artist were revealed.
Two days after “Just Go” was revealed as the Azerbaijani song for the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, performed by JIVA, ITV has taken to social media to defend its selection. In a statement on Instagram ITV said that it decided to release a statement to explain in more detail how the selection process worked.
In the statement, ITV explained that three acts made it through to the final shortlist, which included JIVA. That the final decision was made based on the results of a specially formed focus group and expert opinions. And that an important factor in determining their entry was that jury voting will be reintroduced in the semi-finals of Eurovision. As a result, strong live vocals and performance abilities were taken into account.
In addition, the statement addresses claims on social media that the song has been written using artificial intelligence. ITV states that:
These ideas do not reflect the truth. “Just Go” is an original musical work prepared on the basis of a professional creative approach, and behind it are many years of experience, preofessional knowledge and creative work.
The broadcaster goes on to give its full support to JIVA as the Azerbaijani representative. She will perform in the first half of the second semi-final on May 14.

On top of this, the Tivoli Stadium would have been open for a public viewing event similar to that which was organised by Basel for the 2025 contest. In an interview with San Marino RTV, Senhit has confirmed that Boy George will appear at Eurovision 2026, and that discussions are underway with the singer about their plans for Vienna.
Speaking to the Sammarinese broadcaster, Senhit has discussed her plans for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, confirming that pre-party performances and a music video are in the works. In an interview with San Marino RTV, she explained that:
“Next week I’ll fly to Las Vegas where I’ll meet Boy George. We’ll start working on the staging part. So I’ve confirmed his presence in Vienna. He’s been on tour with Culture Club for some time now. He should finish between the end of March and the beginning of April, then he’ll return to London. Which is why, hopefully, he’ll appear at the final pre-party, the one in London.”
Regarding the music video for “Superstar”, Senhit confirmed that a music video is in the works, with plans for the video to be released on April 18. She commented that Boy George has taken over responsibility for the video, adding in a joking tone:
“That’s why I argue about it every two seconds, because he tells me one thing, then changes his mind. He’d like, obviously in agreement with me, to work on a slightly futuristic music video. We’re thinking about it, but the idea is to release it on April 18th, so the night before the pre-party. But it’s something we’re working on right now.”
Senhit will represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song “Superstar” featuring Boy George. San Marino are drawn to perform in the second half of Semi-Final One on May 12.

LELÉKA, the Ukrainian representative for Eurovision 2026, has released the EP “Anima Mundi” in collaboration with Stefano Lantini.
“Anima Mundi” is a collaboration between LELÉKA and Italian composer Stefano Lantini. The EP contains three songs in English and Ukrainian; “First Steps”, “Forget It” and “The River”. All of these songs feature in the sixth series of the Rai drama series Mare Fuori (The Sea Beyond). Most of the vocals for the songs were recorded in Berlin, and the tracks were finalised in Rome.
LELÉKA commented:
“I am honored to collaborate with Stefano Lentini on this EP. His invitation felt like both a gift and a test of courage, prompting me to wonder if I was ready to meet such skill on an equal footing.
This work is honest, intimate and tenderly melancholic. In a world that seems unstable and uncertain, these songs reflect my search for self-tenderness, strength to start over and humility to take the first steps without self-condemnation.”

The Romanian representative has responded to the debate surrounding the message of “Choke Me”, her song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
In recent days, there has been a growing debate regarding the Romanian entry for Eurovision 2026 and whether it is suitable to be performed on the contest’s stage. Following reporting from The Guardian late last week, there has been increasing coverage and reporting on whether “Choke Me” is “glamorising sexual strangulation”, an act which can cause brain injury and death.
The Romanian representative took to social media on Sunday evening to release a statement regarding the debate. Alexandra Căpitănescu stated that:
I’ve read the conversations around “Choke Me” and I want to share with you what this song means to me.
I respect every opinion, but I also believe deeply in the freedom to express complex emotions through art. I have a responsibility to the people who listen to my music, come to my concerts or follow me on Social Media.
“Choke Me” is a metaphor for the pressure we sometimes place on ourselves. It speaks about inner fears, self-doubt, and the feeling of being emotionally suffocated by our own expectations. It was never intended to represent anything sexual.
As a songwriter, I often use symbolism to give shape to feelings that are difficult to explain directly. This song reflects the weight of certain emotional struggles and the journey of reclaiming your voice and autonomy.
Music is how I process complicated emotions and make sense of my inner world.
When I stop putting pressure on myself, I reach my maximum potential.
The lyrics are about taking back control over anxiety and emotions that are choking you!
I’m grateful to everyone who listens and engages with my music in good faith.
Alexandra Căpitănescu
The European Broadcasting Union has not confirmed to The Guardian whether any broadcasters have lodged complaints regarding the message of the song and the way it can be interpreted. The last example of a song requiring adaptation following complaints for participating broadcasters came in 2025 when “Kant” was retitled “Serving” and removed “Kant” from the lyrics due to its similarity of a strong profanity in the English language.
Alexandra Căpitănescu will compete in the first half of the second semi-final on May 14.

Fifth Statistics For Eurovoix Super Early Eurovision Predictions

16 March 2026
5 minute read
temp-scaled.jpg

With the conclusion of national finals across Europe and now a complete list of entries for Vienna is known, the contest in recent weeks has been shaped rather significantly. This has given us some more of the answers to the questions we asked in Super Early Eurovision Predictions, which saw over 300 of our readers predict certain scenarios for the upcoming contest last summer.
Although we won’t be revealing specific scores and scoreboards until after the contest has finished, as news breaks out throughout the season, we will compare the news with the responses we received.

Name A Person You Think Could Present The Show?

ESC_Moderatoren_TR_04-fill_size1600x900-focal_point1315x486-focal_size1140x727-fill_size1600x900-focal_point1315x486-focal_size1140x727-1024x576.jpg

Eurovision Song Contest 2026 hosts Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski. Image source: EBU
Back in January, Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski were announced as the double act that will front the Eurovision Song Contest 2026.
question-6-1024x1024.jpg

Victoria was an early rumoured name for the role and thus collected six predictions, Michael however did not collect any predictions. Despite having complete free reign on which person they could answer, a staggering 70.49% incorrectly guessed that the 2014 winner of the contest and part of the hosting team in 2015, Conchita Wurst would be one of the hosts this edition. While seeming a likely case at the time, since predictions were cast, Conchita announced in February a withdrawal from a Eurovision contest, therefore making a hosting role impossible.
Conchita Wurst

There were a total of twenty varied answers to this question, with the top 10 dominated by Austrian personalities who have previous connection to the contest. This includes commentator Andi Knoll who was the second most popular answer. Reigning champion JJ and ongoing Austrian spokesperson Philipp Hansa were joint third most popular. Of the quartet that made up the 2015 hosting group, only Alice Tumler was unable to collect any predictions of returning to the role. Though ironically as one half of the hosting team for Austria’s selection, made her eligible for players to collect some points if predicted.
Two of our responses had to be removed, the first because we were not able to identify a specific person as their prediction, and a second due to the voter predicting a person they also predicted to be a returning artist which is impossible at the same time.
Though only a prediction of Victoria or Michael grants people the full five points if predicted, we are still able to award points of smaller value once we know who is hosting other events such as the Opening Ceremony. Likewise scores will adjusted in the unlikely case of Victoria or Michael not hosting.

Name A Eurovision Artist You Think Could Return?

Bzikebi-1024x576.jpg

A total of four artists will be making a return to the contest as a main artist this year. Vanilla Ninja for Estonia who previously represented Switzerland in 2005. Senhit for San Marino who previously represented the nation in 2011 and 2021, while also scheduled to represent them in 2020 before the contest was cancelled. Bzikebi for Georgia become the fourth Junior Eurovision winners to graduate to the adult contest, having won for Georgia in 2008. Finally Alicja becomes the first of the artists from the cancelled contest of 2020 to return that weren’t automatically granted return in 2021. Additionally Aliona Moon will be providing backing vocals for Moldova, having previously represented them as a solo artist in 2013.
question-7-1024x1024.jpg

Following heavy early rumours that Loïc Nottet was to return for Belgium in the same city where he claimed fourth place in 2015, it is no surprise he was the most popular choice of this question. Of the correct answers Senhit was correctly predicted by three voters, Alicja by one voter, Vanilla Ninja and Bzikebi were not guessed by any of our voters. All correct answers gives the respective voters a full five points, Aliona Moon collected eight votes in the prediction, however as she is not the main artist only four points will be awarded.

The national final season saw several Eurovision acts trying again, with three points awarded to any that tried but not able to win. Further smaller points are given in other circumstances, for example some artists returned to national finals as songwriters and others returned as solo artists, having previously been at Eurovision as a group. Five of the predictions received for this question were removed, three being for selecting artists that have never been on the Eurovision stage, a further one for an artist that is unidentifiable and a final one removed due to the voter predicting Conchita as both a returning artist and presenter which is impossible at the same time.
In the unlikely scenario at this stage that any of the returning artists were to withdraw, this question will be remarked accordingly.

Will There Be an Anniversary Show For The 70th Edition?

The EBU previously announced a 10 date tour across 10 cities of western Europe to celebrate the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. We had previously marked this question as the announcement of the tour confirmed at the time that the correct answer to the question was “Yes”.
Since marking this question, the EBU have sadly announced the cancellation of the tour. As announced at the time, the eventuality of the tour being cancelled means the marking of the question would be adjusted. As this is indeed now the case, we are temporarily removing these marks until it is confirmed whether or not an alternative to the tour celebrating 70 years will be provided by the EBU.

The Story So Far

We have the answers now to 8 of the 20 questions set last summer.
  1. Will there be any changes to the voting system? was successfully predicted to be Yes by 65.90% of the readers.
  2. What will be the date of the Grand Final? was successfully predicted to be the 16th of May 2026 by 81.31% of the readers.
  3. What will be the host city? was successfully predicted to be Vienna by 76.07% of the readers.
  4. What will be the venue? was successfully predicted to be Wiener Stadthalle by 76.07% of the readers.
  5. How many countries will compete? was successfully predicted to be 35 countries by 2.30% of the readers.
  6. Will Moldova come back? was successfully predicted to be Yes by 76.07% of the readers.
  7. Name a person you think could present the show? was successfully predicted to be Victoria Swarovski or Michael Ostrowski by 1.97% of the readers.
  8. Name a Eurovision artist you think could return? was successfully predicted to be either Senhit, Alicja, Bzikebi or Vanilla Ninja by 1.31% of the readers.

Austria will perform in slot 25 and will close the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 on May 16.
As is tradition during the Head of Delegations meeting, the host country’s starting position in the running order was determined by a draw. This draw, which took place today, determined that Cosmó will be performing last in the Grand Final. This will mark the first time that a host nation will close the Grand Final since 2023.
Since the introduction of the production determined running orders in 2013, the host country’s slot is always drawn at random to ensure that no bias or advantage is given to the hosting country when the remainder of the running order is determined.
The remainder of the draws for the Grand Final and both semi-finals are determined by production in a way to make all entries stand out in the lineup as much as possible. The semi-final allocation draw in January decided which half of which semi-final each country would compete in and which semi-final the automatic qualifiers would perform and vote in. The semi-final running orders will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
Previous slots that have been drawn for the host entry include:
  • 2025 – Switzerland drawn to perform 19th in Basel.
  • 2024 – Sweden drawn to perform 1st in Malmö.
  • 2023 – Ukraine drawn to perform 19th and United Kingdom drawn to perform 26th (closing) as joint hosts in Liverpool.
  • 2022 – Italy drawn to perform 9th in Turin.
  • 2021 – The Netherlands drawn to perform 23rd in Rotterdam, rolled over from their original position drawn for them in 2020 before the contest was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • 2019 – Israel drawn to perform 14th in Tel Aviv.
  • 2018 – Portugal drawn to perform 8th in Lisbon.
  • 2017 – Ukraine drawn to perform 22nd in Kyiv.
  • 2016 – Sweden drawn to perform 9th in Stockholm.
  • 2015 – Austria drawn to perform 14th in Vienna.
  • 2014 – Denmark drawn to perform 23rd in Copenhagen.
  • 2013 – Sweden drawn to perform 16th in Malmö.
Cosmó won Vienna Calling – Wer singt für Österreich? and will represent Austria on home ground in Vienna with “Tanzscheine”. He will compete in the Grand Final on May 16. In addition, he will also perform during the second semi-final on May 14.
