Note: Only votes from TNP WA nations, NPA personnel, and those on NPA deployments will be counted. If you do not meet these requirements, please add (non-WA) or something of that effect to your vote. If you are on an NPA deployment without being formally registered as an NPA member, name your deployed nation in your vote. The General Assembly,
Recognizing the right to a basic education,
Applauding GAR#80 “A Promotion of Basic Education” for being among the first resolutions to enshrine this right in international law, and the oldest still extant today,
Saddened, however, that GAR#80's attempt to provide a basic education is ultimately frivolous and ineffectual,
Concerned that only requiring literacy skills in the official or popular languages of member nations carries problematic undertones with regards to the erasure of indigenous languages,
Baffled by the usage of the term “cognizance of financial mathematics”, meaning only an awareness of an overly specific concept rather than any actual understanding of general concepts that can be applied anywhere,
Bemused at the requirement set for historical and cultural education, which has no obvious way of assessing if it is fulfilled, if doing so is possible to begin with,
Bewildered by the mandate to teach citizens who are unable to learn the fundamental aspects of a basic education, as by definition, such a task is impossible in the first place,
Frustrated that although clauses three and four refer to member nations that are "deemed to be genuinely unable to economically support the requirements of basic education based on [GAR#80]", no entity is charged with deeming member nations as such, rendering those clauses inoperative,
Perturbed that clause four refers to the General Accounting Office as the provisioner of funds, but then references "donation(s)" in 4.a, muddling what should be a straightforward financial charge,
Hoping that any future attempts to provide basic education do so benefitting from the precedent and knowledge gained since the time of GAR#80’s passing,
Hereby repeals “A Promotion of Basic Education”.
