Hello!

If you don’t know me, I’m AraFuttio, and I have served as Speaker twice before, as well as Deputy Speaker twice before, amongst other positions. I’ve decided to go for it again this time around. It’s lovely to have a competitive opponent - I think Foske has presented some great ideas and I wish them luck in their campaign.

For me, the Speaker‘s Office is an odd institution to be a part of, as it’s hard to know what people expect of you. Officially, we just need to keep citizenship applications running smoothly, moderate the RA, and coordinate and count votes. However, some may feel we should do more, to ensure an active presence of the citizenry in RA affairs, and that everyone feels like they can freely participate, and I think the Speaker‘s Office should do everything it can to do that. That’s why I’ve chosen ‘Empowering Every Voice’ as my slogan - at this pivotal point in TNP’s development, it’s vital everyone finds their voice.

Firstly, my number one priority is to sustain the biweekly RA digest. This programme is a baby of mine, and I’m absolutely committed to keeping it going, like Cosmic has valiantly been doing so far.

Also, I want to establish the RA Mentoring Service. This will be a specific channel in the Regional Assembly forums where new citizens can request a mentor to guide them through writing a high-quality proposal for the first time. I hope to assemble a team of experienced legislators to help with this.

I want to keep things simple, so they are my two promises for if I am elected. I also will try to complete the final Speaker’s Guide on Court Rulings. Thank god the others have been done over the past 6 months or so, now they can no longer be a campaign promise that I don’t keep.
Thank you!

Thank you for the well wishes, and I wish you luck on your campaign as well! I'm definitely interested in the RA Mentoring Service - I think that would be a good program to implement regardless of the election's outcome.

I like the ideas you've presented, and I'm inclined to support your campaign, but I do have a few questions.

You've disappeared before and haven't always been the most active person in the region. You show a lot of promise, but folks haven't really been able to see that come to fruition. How will you ensure that you're visible to the region and make it clear that you're a serious player?

Do you have any further ambitions in this region, and if yes, how will you keep your energy going and not burn out?

I think that I just want to second Ruben's question. You've served as a deputy speaker this term and you yourself said that your availability hasn't been the best. How's your availability looking for the next term?

Thanks both. I knew this would come up. Outside of NS, this term has been one of the busiest ever in my entire life, and I had made Cosmic aware of that when I offered my services in May. However, I’ve got a new schedule at school now which means I have more time to study there rather than at home, so my availability is going to be much better. There is of course the possibility that something might come up, if that happens I will be humble and hand over the torch - I think before I have made the mistake of not doing that quick enough. But that’s just a hypothetical - I am confident that I will be able to see the term out.

I think I’m just going to see where the road takes me, to be honest. I have clear ambitions to serve in cabinet again, and so I will try to perform for the Executive too this term, and I am considering running for elected office in the future.

You were a good Speaker previously. I’m just curious if you had any hard learnings during that time, that you would apply to your next term?
Thanks for your question. I think I‘ve realised that it’s all about routine. There’s no need to overcomplicate the work that you do as Speaker, instead just build up good habits that allow you to keep the office going.
