Office of the Delegate of The North Pacific

Address to the Region

My fellow North Pacificans,

Following the resignation of Former Delegate @Chipoli, I have taken my oath of office to serve for the remainder of the term as Acting Delegate of The North Pacific. I would like to start this address by thanking Chipoli for his service. He has dutifully served this region as Delegate for 7 months and has done all he could and more to improve our situation. Serving alongside him was a wonderful experience, and I am grateful for the opportunities and grace he has given me on so many occasions. His rise to the top is something few of us can ever dream of achieving, and his drive and passion for improving The North Pacific are what brought him there. At this point, no one can deny that his hard work and determination are why he was able to make his repeat comebacks, and that when it comes to those things, he is up there with the greatest of the greats that this region has helped create and cherish. Like most of you, we in the Cabinet were quite surprised when he warned us of his intention to resign. We’ve seen him perform miracles in his first term and push those through in his second term, so we believed we could see one more comeback in this final month. When one struggles in the game and the real world, and the demands in the game cannot work with the demands in the real world, a tough choice has to be made, though. All who have led this region know that real life simply takes priority in these cases, but I believe we are all intimately aware that this game can take its toll on one's sanity and health. Sometimes it is necessary to make that difficult and heart-wrenching, but ultimately wise, decision to take a step back and refocus on what is most important and balance things again.

On that sombre note, the responsibility of carrying the flame that burned in our Former Delegate now falls to me, and with a hopeful heart and a profound sense of duty, I accept that honour. As laid out in my original campaign for Vice Delegate back in January, I will commit to the Former Delegate’s vision for the region and advance the goals his government has pursued since the start of this term. The changes and initiatives he had in mind and that I will carry out are the same ones that we as a region voted for and that this Cabinet is committed to executing. I have briefed the Cabinet on the plan going forward, and we will execute it effective immediately: we will open up the executive staff and increase our recruitment drive tenfold. I was previously designated as our Minister of Defence and will continue to personally serve in that role, overseeing our Defence institution directly as Commander-in-Chief of the North Pacific Army. The main focus of the next month will be our Integration Ministry, as Chipoli had aimed at the start of summer, where Minister @Orange has been doing fantastic work at increasing engagement. Still, there is always more we can do, and thus, a greater focus on this government’s agenda in that area is needed.

We will also ensure that the other ministries continue on their positive trajectory. I have full trust in Minister @Mastenva and expect she will continue to make great things happen in Culture. We will be endeavouring to build on our Northern culture through NBS shows, regular events and collaborating with our interregional partners. Our Minister of World Assembly Affairs @Fachu has also returned from his leave, so I am confident in the ministry’s ability to continue meeting the timely demand of voting threads and Information for Voters dispatches so that we do not lose public engagement in our democratic vote in the World Assembly, and not only our community but the community outside our region can be reasonably informed on every matter that comes to vote. Minister @Pallaith has now released an amazing new issue of the FA Digest, and our foreign policy is in an even better position following the retreat of the Brotherhood of Malice back into the hole they crawled out of and the strengthening of our bonds with both new and old allies alike. The Modern Gameplay Compact is undoubtedly the most powerful institution in the game today, and we are committed to keeping our dominance in guarding the world against malicious actors both on the battlefield and in the halls of diplomacy. I will happily keep @Comfed on as Advisor to the Delegate, as he has been a fantastic mediator and one of the most reasonable voices in the Executive Council.

I do believe that in these tricky times, we need all the help we can get, so to assist me and the Cabinet, I’ve made the decision to appoint @TlomzKrano as an additional Advisor to the Delegate. As a Former Delegate, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and, perhaps most importantly, editor of Greitbart, he’s a natural fit in this administration, and I’m certain that he will be a positive influence in the upper echelons of governance. Tlomz has been a faithful servant of this region in the past, and now that he has more time to spare for NationStates, I am excited to see him return to the place where he belongs. Tlomz, please take your oath.

Recent times have taught us that no one person can do all of this alone, no matter how much time they think they have or how hard they try. I know from experience, having tried to assist Chipoli in these last few months, that it can be rough sometimes, but when duty calls, we as a region always answer. I therefore call on every North Pacifican citizen and resident alike to join us in taking action now. We cannot stand idly by and watch our region crumble. This administration has fought to preserve what we as a community treasure, but those values and that greatness can only be kept if we continue that fight. The fight to rip our region away from the dark path to its doom and place it firmly onto the bright way of progress begins and ends with each and every one of you. If there is no community to manage or people to lead, it doesn’t matter who the Delegate or the members of Cabinet are.

Remember: this is not the end of the story, but the turning of a page. Chipoli may have stepped down, but the chapter he began is far from over. The vision he championed, the work we began together, lives on in all of us. And now, it is our task to see it through. The values he stood for are not his alone. They are ours. They are woven into the fabric of this region, and they do not leave with any one person. I did not ask for this role, but I accept it not for myself, but for the region I have long served and the future I believe in. And so, I speak not as someone replacing a leader, but as someone carrying a torch. A torch that has been passed from hand to hand through crisis, chaos, triumph, and peace, from Flemingovia to Eluvatar, from McMasterdonia to Pallaith, from Chipoli to now me. Each flame passed on with care, with struggle, and with purpose. This region has never been built by one person alone. It has always been the work of many citizens, ministers, soldiers, artists, diplomats, and storytellers, who together chose to show up. Not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s hard. Because the truth is: we have been here before. We’ve stood on the edge of decline, we’ve felt the weight of inactivity, of disillusionment. And every time, we have risen, not because we are perfect, but because we are persistent. The North Pacific has always refused to fall. When the tides of apathy rise, we dig in. When chaos knocks on our door, we answer not with panic but with strength. That is who we are. That is what it means to be a North Pacifican.

So I ask you now, not as your Acting Delegate, but as your fellow citizen, to stand with us once more. To recommit to this community, to the ideals we share, and to the promise of what we can still become. Participate. Speak. Lead. Whether you're a minister or a newcomer, whether you've been here for years or just arrived, this region needs you. It always has. It always will.

Signed,

Halsoni
